I feel is unfair toward Canada because you choose the worst town in canada for judge the entire country.

When the government fails in its responsibility, they seek someone to blame. International students are paying tuition fees 10 times higher than home students, yet the blame is unfairly shifted onto them for causing the housing crisis. Students are merely being used as an excuse by a failing government. Schools and government officials need to take responsibility instead of misleading the public.

Who is saying they are International Students? Come on. They come to Canada to find a job and settle down in Canada. This is the easiest way for them to come to Canada. That’s the well known secret. Canadian government is also getting Immigrants 500,000 per year. What about the Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents who don’t have jobs? This is totally unfair. I agree about cash grabs. I own a house with a basement apartment, I didn't put it in, the previous owner from 20 years ago did. I recently got a new tenant and had it listed online, once I acknowledged it had been rented, Zolo called the city on me. I have to get the basement registered or evict my tenant or pay $25,000 for disobeying the bylaws. I decided to get the basement registered and they are telling me that I don't have 50 % Landscaping so I have to pay $800 to apply for an exception ( even after paying the fee I could still be denied, that's just a fee for the application)\n\nNo one within 30 square km of my house has 50% landscaping, that's not how the neighborhoods were designed. It's a cash grab. After paying the $800 I still have to go through the process to register the basement which is going to cost me another $1,000 plus whatever changes they ask me to make.\n\nWe are in an affordable housing crisis and this is the bs that I'm going through just trying to rent my basement. I'm not a slumlord nor do I overcharge for rent, the system is grossly unfair

It is extremely unfair that being born Muslim is considered a curse in today's world. What Israel has been doing for the past 70 years is unacceptable. If a similar situation occurred with the United States or any Western country, would they receive financial and military assistance? This can be viewed as genocide. It is a cruel and perplexing phenomenon that people choose to turn a blind eye to the innocent children who are being killed.

Shifting the responsibility of protection of the Palestinian people onto the arab countries is distasteful and unfair. Israel as an occupying entity must protect the people they occupy under international law. But instead they would rather shift the blame onto other countries.

There are essentially two major problems when discussing this issue. First and foremost, it is VERY difficult for anyone to even attempt to bring up an intelligent argument because they are instantly branded a racist, so many people just keep quiet, which is not healthy in a democracy. Secondly, when examining the world as it is today, the inescapable fact is that the nations with a high standard of living and a truly democratic system simply cannot sustain the rest of the globe!! And the aspect of that is most unfair? The countries where these people came from would NEVER allow that to happen. In fact, most often we are not welcome in those countries at all!

it took them about damn time to fix the unfair immigrant credential system. My father came here in the mid 2000 with a engineering background from the middle east sadly never could transfer his credentials even though he was extremely qualified. Really sad story it felt like it was a trap.

It took 6 years for me to get my license. I was almost at the verge of breaking down when I finally got my license. I felt it was really unfair. They should tell us what to expect with a reasonable time frame. Not like just assessment taking 1.5 to 2 years, which is not acceptable. I didn’t even felt any joy when I finally got my license to be honest. I don’t think that any other western country takes this long .

The problem is not immigration. During the pandemic there was no immigration for a few years, yet the price of the houses increased by about 20% a year or more. The problem is demand and demand is hugely increased by investors. Investors don't live in the place and in many cases they don't even rent the place. At lease half of those seeking to buy houses are investors. Therefore investors double the demand.\n\nHouses are limited supply whereas investors are numerous and have access to unlimited money either cash or loan from banks. We have created a housing market. It means we made it something like share market where everyone can put their money in it and buy as many as they want. During the pandemic demand for toilet paper became very high and there were limited supply. Supermarkets limited one or 2 packs per customer because it would be unfair for some to stack most of the papers and others have none. Some customers wanted to buy tons and fill their homes with toilet paper and they did. House and land is limited too. Why can't we do the same for homes? Demand is important and always going to be there from those who want to move there and live in it. Investors buy many homes and bid higher in value than normal people because they have more money and they know the price will rise. They raise the demand sky high. Specially if they're foreign investors. They can buy hundreds of apartments or houses and leave it empty.\n\nAs I mentioned, we do need certain amount of demand for housing and that demand is going to be always there by people who want to buy and live in it whether they're local or immigrants. However, when many investors come in and they have greed, the demand becomes sky high and the price will become so high that only investors can afford them. Rent also depends on the value of the property. The higher the price, the higher the rent. So the issue is investors. Too many of them with too much greed.

Lol this reminds me of a story my brother in law told me and my sister when they were still dating. His class in high school had gone to New York for reasons that I no longer remember. He had set his camera down beside him just out of his peripheral vision for less than a minute and when he went to pick it back up, it was gone.\nFor a (possibly unfair) comparison, when I was in high school, I accidentally left my wallet on a city bus. A wallet that had my SIN card in it. Someone found my wallet, went through the white pages to find people with my last name, found my grandpa and told him that he had found my wallet and to pass his number on to me to give it back. I've been to 30 states in my many decades of travel. The US has become a scarier place over the past 20 years. The politics is very partisan, Evangelicals have expanded their influence resulting in less tolerance of others, gun violence is insane, the poor are very, very poor with no way out, the very, very rich don't want to share at all (contrary to Christian teachings), the US version of capitalism verges on slavery (certainly not what Adam Smith envisioned anyway), the race issues are becoming simply stupid, the MAGA supporters and the socialist far left and wokeness are simply beyond comprehension . . . overall, tolerance for differences is becoming lost. People on the left and the right are equally are to blame. \n\nOne of Canadians' favourite activities is to crap on America(ns). This is unfair. There are wonderful places in the US and wonderful people. Collectively though, I think the US is coming apart at the seams. Canada certainly has its warts and our politics and society is becoming polarized too. But overall I'd say, Canada is friendlier, less violent, not as bigoted, more open minded, fairer, much less hierarchical, and more educated with regard to what's happening in the world. I do like the entrepreneurial bent to the US but its version often comes at a huge cost to people.

This is profoundly unfair review and comparison. How many in Nigeria receiving $1000/month salary? When did “time is money” became unacceptable? I don't have any issues with Sikhs, but I'm aligned with them not getting allowed to carry kirpans in public places. This is unfair, I waited and spent a lot of money and followed the rules to migrate here from the Philippines. My relatives, who are nurses and teachers, wanted to migrate here to the US, too, but it's hard to do it. Yet they let these people who have no background check will be freeloader and can't speak English, yet they Government let them in. Why choose this kind of people instead of people who will contribute to the economy rather than freeloaders. I don't get it.

Actually US is doing a better job of ensuring diversity in its immigrants by having the country cap. I used to think it is so unfair when i was in the US but after seeing how the Indian and Chinese immigrants form the majority of the population increase of Canada, I have changed my mind. We cannot have one culture completely dominating thr demographics of a region and effectively killing the international diversity there.

Also the housing market crisis in Canada is because we have an unsustainable housing bubble that should have poped over a decade ago but didn't and a large chunk of the economy is tied to housing. It got the approval from Canada, the support and recognition from multiple UN countries so Canada went ahead and did all the paper work in advance to prepare Québec for independence and because Québec was to keep using Canadian dollars, Desjardins the biggest bank in Québec became allowed to print its own Canadian cash... But then disaster: The 1995 referendum failed by 50 thousand votes and so Québec stayed in Canada and Desjardins won the lottery like the Federal reserve in the US did. Crippling cost of higher education, gun culture that I'll abstain from judging further, crippling cost of healthcare, many large cities with housing crisis similar and sometimes worse than our own cities, cities built around car ownership instead of prioritizing efficient public transportation.\nI would visit family but not live there. I must say that listing only the deal breakers is unfair considering the great pros for moving there but dealbreakers are what they are. Im ? glad the USA is there and as it is. Canada is literally built on wealth and security obtain through partnership and proxomity and our continued living standards and social securities are dependent on that relationship.

As a quebecoise, canadian french, I think we're still far from all problems in the USA. But we shouldn't forget that there are 300 millions more american people than us, canadians. The more we'll grow as population, the more problems of all kinds will follow. So no, i would never move to USA, it's a fact, but I think it's a little unfair to compare both countries. Plus, Canada tends to be more and more influenced by USA and their politics... And we're no safe anywhere in the world. There are not a lot of them, yet, but still, we've got also few mass violence shootings increasing for more than 10 years now. It exists here too. Nothing happens in a small village because we don't expect it to happen most of the times. But as beautiful as Canada may look, I can tell you it will never be the same again. From your comments, i hear that you feel safe because your health insurance is purchased through your employer. How safe is your health care if you loose your job? In Canada, we still get health care. Our heath care is covered through our taxes. Like road upkeep, schools etc.. Even our ambulace care cost will be covered, if you can not afford it. But, what happens when you reach retirement? Is your health care free? I understand people in the US work way passed retirement age just to have health care. So unfair.
