One thing Trudeau is good at is talking. Eloquent words and well said, unfortunately words will not put food on my table. However, again, that was a very very nice speech.

I'm reading through the comments and one thing is very clear. We need to impeach Donald. He's not serving the interests of Americans but rather treacherous dictators like Putin, by hurting long standing and mutually beneficial relationships with our best and closest allies.

Even with every ridiculous thing Trump has claimed or done and despite his love for Pukin and Russia, there are relatively 'normal' people in the u.s. who think he's sane and doing great, one reason I've heard being 'There's less Mexicans around'. I ask again, can anyone in the u.s. aim straight? If so, your failing country needs you.

As an American, I really liked Trudeau's speech. I thought he did a great job explaining everything and responding to this situation. I appreciate his words to the American people. There's just one thing he said that was inaccurate... trump is NOT a smart guy!!

On the outside we are made to believe such things but I know behind the scenes things are different. What have you done to your own people? When WILL CNN TALK ABOOUT ALL THE TARIFFS CANADA HAS ON US!!!!! I am a very small business owner who seals things on Etsy. I sold only one thing to Canada for $13 and the tariffs was additional $65. The Canadian paid for it however it was my one and only sale there. So how is that fair for me? How is that fair to us?

Those tariffs are such a stupid thing to do... for every country they are doing this, USA is basically making the chinese products so much more appealing for them. It would be MUCH cheaper to exchange those products for chinese ones instead of paying the tariffs. The speech of Mr Trudeau, the way Canadians have shown solidarity for one another, today it all puts my country, The US, to shame. I am ashamed of what my government is doing and I am disgusted with the people doing it. In Mr Trump’s first term, as eclipsed as they were by the many many many actions and attitudes he imposed on us that embarrassed and hurt us as a country, there was the rare occasional decision I could at least understand even if I did not support it. Since taking office literally not one thing he has done has made sense to me as an American. I can only say how sorry I am for what the country I love is being used to do to you all, especially our closest allies and friends and in particular the people of Canada today. I grew up in Commerce Twp Michigan. I visited Canada regularly and, even as crime from Detroit poured across the border into Canada, Canadians always treated us with respect and welcome. Americans obviously didn’t understand what tariffs are, didn’t get that it’s an import tax which they must pay on goods and products they buy from Canada, a tax which tRump collects from Americans and uses to pay for tax-cuts for the richest citizens. But one more thing Americans don’t get is that before this fateful day an unofficial boycott against ALL US goods has been growing since tRump insulted Canada’s Prime Minister and threatened Canada’s sovereignty—whereas Canada’s official countervails ( which only kicked-in today )only target certain US goods, not ALL of them like ordinary Canadians are doing in growing numbers right now—in fact, the imposition of tRump’s tariffs today has only made the unofficial boycott bigger and more organized. It’s heartening that so many nations have solicited Canada, offering alternative sources for common US exports to Canada —citrus fruits, pharmaceuticals, and other manufactures, to name a few.\n\nI don’t think Canadians even realize how big this unofficial boycott is getting because it’s growing so fast. I’ve never seen a surge in Canadian patriotism like this. Never in my seven decades —which includes the two Referenda on Quebec separation. On top of this there's Tulsi Gabbard who the Ruzzians themselves have publicly stated IS an Agent of theirs for the last Decade. Why doesn't someone just come out and say it. What does Putin have on Trump to get him to do all these things. I’m Canadian and I’m terrified for us as well as all the innocent people that will be affected by this. I find it curious though that past presidents haven’t made any remarks, at least that I’ve seen, about all the things Trump has done in the last six weeks. Where are the condemnations about tariffs, the way Zelensky was treated and the fact that Trump is the one letting human traffickers (allegedly) across the border? As in Andrew Tate and his brother. Trump is the one allowing criminals in. Trump is the one about to sell gold cards to anyone for $5,000,000. That will include known terrorists.

Tariffs on Canada would likely reduce real gross domestic product to zero in 2025 if implemented beyond a year and lead to a 2% contraction in 2026 with a peak unemployment rate of more than 8%. Trump told Canada if you did TWO THINGS, there would be no tariffs on Canada. One, stop illegal immigrants from pouring into the USA from Canada. Two, stop illegal drugs from coming into the USA from Canada. Did Trudeau comply with President Trump's request? If so, there must be a lack of communication to verify what has transpired. If not, then Trump imposed tariffs for lack of compliance. Now, if Canada has already complied yet the Trump admin imposed tariffs anyway, then that is a slap in the face to our neighbors to the north and the American people should be outraged and let Trump know it.

Trudeau got one thing wrong. Trump is not very smart. Not even remotely smart
