The work life balance is awful . I an now 43 years old and I spent so many weekends in my 20s and 30s working to get ahead and now that my youth has passed me by I wish I had more of my youthful weekends to myself.. now I am in a position where I don't have go work on weekends near as much but find myself with nothing to do on weekends and at 43 the time for partying and the down town bar \n scene has passed my be and most people my age ar not into that anymore and truth be told it's not all the appealing to me anymore either and I live in a city where partying and the down town bar science is the only thing there is here. It's very much an east coast port city/college town \nPost colonia city it's great for tourists College Students and young working people but once you pass the age of 35 it gets really boring when I was younger and wanted to spend all of my free time partying and going to house parties and hitting the bar scene I thought I lived in the greatest place on earth now that I am on my 40s I am bored stiff and other then going out for my daily walks for exercise when I am not working I spend most of time at home reading watching you tube or listening to my record collection all of which I really enjoy but I do miss my Youthfull socializing but 43 years don't belong in night clubs with people half their age and nor would it feel appropriate doing so . I miss being 25 and at the club and wish I had done more it instead of spending so many Friday and Saturday nights at the ship building factory.

Well said, both US and Canada are all the same thing, it’s a circle. Start again and go back to school when you relocated to diasporas my dear. Not much difference until you get to a higher level like management in your career then a little change can occur.. Please keep enlighten our people at home so they will know the importance of building our home and prevent traveling abroad except going to school and return back home to use that knowledge learn to building their home country… There’s no place like home, we’re blessed in Africa but lack the knowledge of knowing what we have or to develop that country for generations to come….

Being someone that has travelled the world there is no country better then another but.... The cost of living and stuff in Canada yes it's high but we are in a recession ? the housing market has changed jn the past 10 years... It's hard for anyone not just immigrants.. The thing about having experience in a country and not being able to transfer it, there's a reason for that there are plenty of country's that have alot. Of corruption most places u can get fake degrees by paying enough money ;) Indonesia is a big one and we have alot of immigrants coming from there... Imo ca t really blame. Canada for. I agree with you esp the first two reasons. Im an immigrant from the Philippines.. have been living here for over 13 yrs and i am DONE. I hate how i can ONLY get my life for the 2 months of the year.. i am not a big fan if the cold. No matter how much clothes I wear during the cold dreary months, i am freezing. Plus it’s soo repetitive here. Living in the lower mainland, you do the same things over and over. Beach, lakes, park. ? they get boooring after years.

Im from ''NO Fun-swick'' you forgot many popular things from here.. The only you mentionned the southern part. Northern part around Baie des Chaleurs is the best place to see and we got beachs that aren't connected to the city sewage.. just sayin for your next one ;)

Hello and thank you for sharing your experience living here in the United States. I was born and raised here. It looks to me as if you live in a north eastern state. I do too, Michigan. And to be fair it can be very boring living here in the winter unless you like being outside in the cold. If you do there are so many fun things to do like skiing, sledding, snow shoeing skating ect.. But in the summer months everyone has fun and socializes where I live in my town. We have a lot of kids . 4 parks all different to enjoy. We have 4 or 5 lakes to enjoy and a large river that runs through our town. People are always walking, running, riding bikes and playing sports all around here everyday all summer. There are also many different clubs and groups you can join with people of like interests all year round. I would say if you are the type who likes a lot of interaction then get out and look around. Not everyone is sitting in the house all day. Also maybe try another neighborhood or state if your not happy where you are. Also if you feel disconnected from your neighbor's then may I suggest having a BBQ and inviting everyone to come and bring a dish to pass to get to know everyone. We have one in our neighborhood every summer and it started with one new neighbor who moved in and wanted to get know everyone. I hope you will receive my suggestions in love as I feel sad that you feel so lonely here and I hope it gets better. You could be the one to change everything for your neighborhood. ?

I have been to many different countries. Seems people pay rents or mortage and only go in the house to sleep in many countries. Families all live nearby. Being a single parent here is a hard life. Even family wont help you much of the time. In countries I have visited..most life seems to happen outside, groups of people outside talking or walking around, lots of life and activity. The USA is the land of the lonely, broken families and people strung out on drugs or drunk. If you are not watching your child, they can be kidnapped. Many people dont allow their kids to roam around alone. I crave to go to other countries and enjoy. I love the USA, dont get me wrong. Saturday nights here, Tucson, 1000s of people are partying downtown.. so there are things people do communally here, partying is one of them. Some sporting events as well.. huge crowds of people go to various sporting events, football, basketball, baseball and hockey are the main ones.

I am now 74, and my childhood was idyllic, playing outside every day, roller skating, bike riding, climbing trees and long walks with my girlfriends. Sadly, due to the scourge of the drug trade and gun violence all communities everywhere have been adversely affected. Parents are fearful of letting their kids play outside. I have lived in Egypt for 20. years with returning to the states every summer for 3months I became to realize the problem.\nThen I returned to Florida USA for 8 years to work.The difference was huge from the friendly Egypt. Definitely, isolation is the norm now in the states, and it is impossible for someone to adjust who is from Africa and be happy.\nThank you for clearly warning of the culture clash...it is real. I am an immigrant from India. I have been in California for almost 8 yrs. I feel California is quite better in terms of socialization because of very mixed and vibrant communities . And yes strangers just randomly greet and talk to each other on the streets. In fact when I first came to USA, I was surprised to see people just randomly greet each other on the streets..which truly I have never seen back in India. In India we have been taught from childhood never to talk to strangers. And the reality is there are winds of change back home in India too. I am not talking abt the villages. They are completely different case. But even people living in small towns are now preferring privacy. And no.. its not because of foreign returnees. Even people living there for generations now don't want to socialize. Even in India now we have to request kids to go out and play..which to me is a very disturbing thing . All of them just want to sit at home and play games on their smartphones. In fact I find kids in USA prefer playing sports or other activities more than the kids back in India. It actually depends which part of the country u live in.... doesn't matter India or USA .

The thing that you describe only applies to suburbs, yes if you want a boring lonely life you move to any American or Canadian suburb.. But if you live downtown in cities like NY or Toronto you see plenty of people outside, cafes, diners, bars all full of people… Suburbs are Northamerica’s worst invention. They con people into living there with promises of “security” and a backyard, but they don’t tell you that you have to commute 20 minutes by car to the nearest grocery store, and 45 minutes to your work. Why would people be outside in those suburbs? It is cold, there is nothing to see or do and there are no shops or restaurants either, so everybody stays inside their “safe” home..

if your child stay outside in the US, some crazy psycho or pedo will kidnap your child and he or she will end up dead in some kinda creek or the body dumped somewhere.. US is full with that kind of things..

The thing about Ontario is there are two vastly different regions those being Northern Ontario and Southern Ontario, two different peoples, lifestyles and cultures. Housing is cheaper in the north then the south.. throwing northern Ontario's housing market with southern Ontario's is misleading. Depending where in northern Ontario houses can go from $80,000 - $370,000 unlike in southern Ontario where I'm sure it's above $500,000 to a million in most places. Northern Ontario may not have many cities like southern Ontario, but I prefer the laid back lifestyle, lakefront properties, nature not too far out of a drive, the scenery.. etc

And whats the monthly bill apartment bill, grocery, cell phone, internet, car insurance and whats left behind.. living in good neighborhood means higher apartment monthly rents ... u wud have no option but to send ur wife to work. Which wid make other things complicated. Both of them come home tired and upset and life is too fast to just survive. Having the house in Toronto and neighborhood is soo exoensive and u have to keep paying till u die. \nOfcourse ppl work themselves because it's too expensive they can't afford to pay for repair. I don't care how it started but if you did just your job a server you get just the hourly. This idea that tipping is standard is basically rewarding bad behavior.. something I refuse to.\n\nIv had the odd waitress get snarky and if the food was high quality, while the service was garbage. Iv gone directly to kitchen staff and given them a tip cutting the server out completely normally they only give 10% of there total tips to the kitchen and I don't know any one server that claim more that 35% of there tips come tax season.\n. ohh I should mention prior to covid lockdowns a decent sever at an average bar takes home an average of $200 a night on top of their hourly wage so with the standard of 15 per h that's 120 + 200 that is 320 in a 8 hour shit that $40.00 and rough hour after 37 since I don't know a single one paying the proper taxes. A Friday/Saturday night should bring in well over 400.\n\nNow contrary to popular belief a restaurant must let view the kitchen if requested that's why you can see the kitchen in fast food places. \nAnd vice versa don't you kids yourself.\n\nThe most iv seen a server be tipped from a single table is $6,500\nIn one night $15,000\nVery rare even in mist fine dining.\n\nIf you knew a server complaing about income prior to covid lockdowns that ment 1 of 3 things\n1. addiction\n2. Too many people die on waiting lists in Canada as there is not enough resources to go around, y'all have waited 4-8 H(normal is 2-4) just to be seen before don't fib to web now. \n\nAnd since we lack competition for newer/better medical procedure, 80-90% of our medical knowledge comes from the states or ww2 Germany.\n\nWhile on say the USA side, due to the competition they are constantly making advancements (which in the long run makes overall treatment cheaper and closer affordable). While with Canada you have fixed prices, which actually encourages stagnantion in development as anything that streamlines the hospital making it more efficient hurst the hospitals next year of available funding.. while being hurt in the USA can really set the individual back.\nIn Canada you get an overall lower quality of care as the talented doctors end up moving to the states where they can get paid what they are worth not stuck on a fixed income. And after all that rare illnesses in canada as stated don't have any coverage meaning that any one hit with hit rare illness finds out the hard way they can either pay for life saving medication or well pass on.. as most Canadian are taxed to high to have any substantial savings available for such an emergency as they fall into the trap that the government has me covered. \n\nSo each system has its positives and negatives and as far as I'm concerned it's not talked about enough honestly up hear.\n\nIf you have been to the dentist in canada thats basically the usa system, though the prices are fixed in some areas so some services won't be available.. as they don't update the payment schedule often enough so certain procedures pay well, other well can actually cost the dentist out of pocket. \nTherefore in some areas you can't get certain procedures done at all the dentist will refuse.

There's cases in this episode where they assumed racism without proof like the Best Buy for example. I used to work at Best Buy for a Co-Op placement in highschool and shoplifting was a big issue for them, it became best practice at one point to just approach customers of any race and ask them what they need. You also have to realize that it's an electronics store, you're there to buy something specific or look for something in particular.. It's very suspicious to be browsing around for 15 minutes unless you're in a game or movie section. Shoplifters usually stall before attempting a theft and usually do buy one or two things as to not arouse suspicion.

One thing I do see all the time in my personal experience is almost 100% of my delivery drivers when I order take out from uber/doordash/skip they are blacks or minorities.. I mean those jobs are not secure and don't even pay minimum wage after expenses. The fact that these people can't seem to find better work is a concern.

Just like to say im middle eastern / Heinz 57 mix as i work construction i spend all day everday outside. By the end of the summer i become very very dark and the opposite is true come later winter months when ive almost fully lost my tan. I definately notice a lot more untrusted/weary attitudes towards me when im in the darker state. However in the lighter state those things seem to vanish. Ill just add that the colour change im refering is not minor..
