Those of us who did not vote for Trump do not want this either. My last two out of three vacations were spent in Canada. I hate to see our friends treated this way. Don't think we all agree with the way Trump is governing.

Trudeau screwed up canada. \nHe created the dire economic situation in Canada and Trump noticed this situation and is trying to make this situation as an opportunity for his government.\nTrudueau, as usual , is trying to push the blame on to Trump's administration.\nTrudeau has F** ed up! Period.

As an American, I'm disgusted with the American government. Trump is not a president he is a wannabe dictator who needs to be removed immediately.

Trudeau government has hurt the Canadian economy for the last 8 years, thankfully, now that he is going out .He's trying to dust himself off and blame President Trump for his naive ways of governing .

Donald Trump knows that his trade war with Canada, Mexico and China will damage America’s economy. That is why he is doing it. He is purposely hurting the American economy in order to help Putin. How is that every American can’t see that Trump is a Russian asset? He is doing everything that he can to unstable the American government. The writing is on the wall America. Wake up!

Our dumb PM Trudeau is punishing Canadians by adding tarrifs to US products they need for their businesses and not given them time to find alternative canadian sources. He is not as smart as premier Doug Ford who is just adding surtaxes to products sold to US from Canada. He doesn't care if he did he would end poroguing of parliament and increase spending on military and border protection on all sides of our country he says that Trump is going to cause a recession in Canada we already have on caused by 9 years of Liberal federal government backed by NDP leader Jagmeet Singh.

An American patriot here I support whatever our allies have to do!! Trump and his administration do not represent all of Americans!! Do not trust him, he never faces any consequences legal or otherwise! Our allies stand up to him and so must American patriots. If nobody tried to put up roadblocks he would become an authoritarian dictator like Putin only dumber!! His cannot happen his threat of World War III to Zelenskyy would be in part because of the US government! The American government is a hostile government at this time!!

The real reason is Trump is at war against liberal democracy, where ever he find it. Every thing à little bit leftish is a enemy. And yes, like Putin, every thing that could make some critic of is government is a enemy.

The American government are weak ass politicians with no backbone too scared to stand up to Trump and fight for their constituents. This is the weakest, delusional, narcissistic, naive Republican Party that ever existed. To all the Mega followers who put this pathetic sh**hole administration in office you guys are about to really have a rude awakening. I believe Putin is using the Trump administration as puppets and he is the puppet master. Trump is not the people president he is Putin president.

This is exactly what Trump wants to destroy America!!!! to bring on techtocracy or maybe just to make his allies in Russia happy.. It's either that or he is the dumbest president in American history... I've never understood why anybody thought that he gave a damn about anybody but himself or was capable of doing anything that would benefit the American people. But here we are.. there was voter suppression at the very least. It's hard to know what to believe about all that. But I do know many people regardless voted for him. 30% did not vote. Which I do understand. As there is a genocide happening.. but at this point, I have to believe that even amongst the majority of his supporters he is not supported by the majority, major majority of the United States. The republican Congress has shown their true colors of being anti-constitutional . But they are redeemable. Do the right thing if you are in government if you have any power at all, stand up. And for the rest of us, Americans including the ones that voted for Trump let your voices be heard. Before we become something similar to Russia. And I go to prison for this comment.

Trudeau is so handsome and smart and good. I wish he was our leader here in the US. Can you come here and help us, please? We need help. I understand why you have to fight back against Trump. I can't stand Trump and what he and our government is doing but I don't know how to stop it. I sure didn't vote for him. Thank you Mr. Trudeau for all of your great work and commitment and governance. I stand with Canada.

This man has destroyed our economy and done everything he could to stop international trade of LNG and oil by shutting down all pipeline and LNG PROJECTS WE HATE THIS MAN. WE will NOT help any of you who caused this & this includes every MSM who is too afraid to speak truth to power. Start doing that NOW. Start with THIS: It's called The Gulf of Mexico, NOT the Gulf of America. Eff every Trump supporters & GOP politician--at EVERY level of government. Trump can TRY to hide what he's doing to the economy in his stupid reports. Do you honestly believe the average American pays attention to those? No, most are too busy worrying over how to pay their bills & all they'll see is that their situation is getting worse. They can't find a job. They can't afford gas. They can't afford groceries. I called the Canadian embassy in Washington DC this morning. I told them as an American citizen. It saddens me and breaks my heart that we are treating our allies with such disrespect. I do not stand with the United States government and their treatment of our allies. I also called the Mexican embassy and told them the same thing. I didn’t announce Trump in his cabinet and what they’re doing to our economy that we have worked so hard to resurrect again after he was president last time. I, urge every person who does not agree with what is going on to call the Canadian and the Mexican embassies and just let them know that we stand in solidarity with them and against our government here!

Everyone thinks that this is Canada standing up, but what this means is that the Canadians with our economy that is 1/10 that of the US will be taxed at 25% on our imports, this is going to hurt canadians way more than the retaliatory terrifs will hurt the americans. This may also lead to an escalated response from the US exacerbating the effect. Trudeau and others can't seem to grasp that there may be a long term strategy from Trump and this is playing into it. \n\nThe truth of all of it is that Trump does not like Justin Trudeau or the Liberal government.

He’s gracious to speak of “they” the government of the US when in reality, MAGA and the other ignorant, uninformed voters put Trump and his lackey’s in leadership positions.

Let us speak directly right back at you Canadians, both yr government and ppl, we don;t want this either, we Americans don't back TRUMP AT ALL. We are ashamed and we are embarrassed by everything DT does. We appreciate Canada, always have. Everything he does is in his interest, not ours, not yours, only his. So, why is it that this guy makes it seem like they haven't been taken advantage of the U.S. since they have been able to! He is also lying about that northern border, too. It's easier up there bcuz that border isn't as secure as the southern border. I guarantee you their statistics for fentynal crossing in via Canada is wrong. Those are just the statistics for the fentynal they caught, not the shit they haven't caught! Tariffs shouldn't have had to be the reason for Canada to do their job. They should have already been doing their job at that border. Trump had to threaten them in order for them to use drones, etc. at the border. They should have been doing that. This shows that they were already taking advantage of the weak ass government who just left office. Maybe he should just become the 51st state to make it all much simpler!

The West needs to wake up and come to terms with the fact that Trump is an agent of Putin. There is no other explanation for his behaviour. He is doing everything he can do to damage the West and the USA both economically and militarily. The US Congress and Judiciary, the other two arms of US government, need to step up and follow the constitution’s guidelines and intent to self correct when one arm of the government goes off the rails.

1/2: Myself and the saner half of the US that read, understood, and voted against Proj 2025 understands why they need to levy retaliatory tariffs especially as a Michigander who's lived less than 4 hours from Canada all her life, who has family in Quebec and Ontario, and is a job-seeking policy professional and international trade nerd who now cannot in good faith seek a job in the federal government. We have been looking and still do look to Canada as a model quite a bit and love Canada and Canadians to pieces. We Michiganders especially in the central and eastern UP and Detroit and Ann Arbor area are friends, coworkers, and family of Canadians. Some are even dual citizens. Being an American I am behind Canada and feel these Tariffs are uncalled for and will do nothing to help our ever growing Inflation! It is Trump, and the problem is the rest of our Government (Congress and Judiciary) are spineless and won't stand against him. Trump is not doing anything for us but HURT us. Donald Trump and his administration have been captured by Russia. Every single thing he does that seems not to make sense, which seems to hurt America, are directives from Vladimir Putin. I loved the speech of PM Trudeau- but one thing he kept saying is wrong. Our government did not do this - One man did this via executive orders. He does not care who he hurts. He does not care about the American people. Trump only cares about himself and his relationship with Mother Russia and Putin. TRUMP doesn't want peace. He is thriving on the chaos that he and Musk are initiating.
