As someone who lived in Quebec for 8 years, I can say that Canada has an undeservedly good image abroad. It's a trap for immigrants, where they suck out all their savings and energy. In reality, it's not even a state, it's a corporation where monopolies and associated corrupt politicians rule the roost. Lack of preventive healthcare, huge taxes, unbelievably high prices compared to incomes for everything from food to housing, outdated infrastructure... I hope to find the ways to leave here soon.

I didn't get raise for 9 years. After 9 years I got $0.25 cents per 1hr.\nI rented one bed room apartment for $900.00 long time a go.\nThis apartment is now $2000.00. My car insurance from $80.00 raised to $135.00. Groceries tripled. $3000-$2135= $865.\nGas, food, and other expenses over the roof. \nThe work injury each job is unbelievable. No stable job.\nHarsh weather, lack of sunshine, isolation, and other obstacles makes it very difficult to leave in Canada..

Theirs no prosperity in Canada anymore as you would think, big businesses,had crushed small businesses, small businesses are destroyed by red tape and high taxes, buying a home is only available to people with significant salaries and high paying job, and internet insurance, all extremely high. As a Canadian, I would leave this country, politicians are crooks, liars, controllers, it’s a beautiful country, but the governments have ruined the life living here. Politicians are such asshole bullshitters it unbelievable.

I work for the BC provincial government, and part of my job is to hunt for homes to house women who are escaping violence. After spending 3 months searching for homes in Surrey, I've seen anywhere between 10-22 individuals living in a modest sized home. These homes are often very well run-down, have poor plumbing, and many illegal suites, and I've literally seen people sleeping in closets. Landlords can get away with this because the students from India don't care, don't have a choice, or are used to this standard. What the federal government is doing is unbelievable, allowing many people into the country. Just because international students come from places where they can sleep on top of each other doesn't mean they should allow it to happen here, reducing the living standards for everyday tax-paying Canadians. Despicable.

Are you selective about which instructions in the Quran to follow, or do 'smite the necks of unbelievers'?

The odacity of theses muslims is unbelievable. Imagine living in a country which is not your own culture and expecting the people there to change for you. look at theses 2 living and making money in our country, exploiting our ressources just to bash us after and complaining. To be poor in cold freezing Canada is hard enough , but even more crazy is the rich people - how can you spend the money and enjoy life in such a cold place , unbelievable !

As a Canadian, born and raised, I am much more proud to be a Canadian than if I were to be a U.S. or U.K. citizen, given the way they are regarded in most of the word. I have travelled Europe extensively, Central America, as well as parts of SE Asia. \n\nCanada is indeed expensive and has become moreso because we too easily accept the rising prices, just so we can feel good being a Canadian. Tipping culture is ridiculous, even for bad service, many feel the need to tip 15% because of fear of being regarded as a cheapskate or avoiding offending the service provider. Companies should be paying their staff a better wage where 20%+ tips are not expected for every restaurant, cafe or delivery service. We're helping corporations make more profit by subsidizing their staffing expense. This isn't the case in most of the world. \n\nMy eyes were opened when I saw how you can live an equally good life at a third or less of the cost and I have grown open to the idea of living elsewhere once I have enough money to retire early (I'm talking around 55) and enjoy life without feeling cash-strapped. World class private medical care can be found for prices that are unbelievable and without the multiple appointments and wait times.\n\nI will always be a Canadian first, but there is room for a second citizenship or a backup plan should living in Canada become an impossible place to live or retire, unless you begin with a financial advantage. By no means am I poor, either. I got lucky with both real estate and stocks. Yet, I feel like I am working to just get by, while being taxed well beyond what I am getting in return.

I just moved back to the United States after living in Canada for 7 years. I’m a dual citizen, born in Vancouver raised in the states. I am in agreement with all of this. The economy is terrible and the cost of living is unbelievable. My business suffered and realized I would never prosper in Canada. I’m lucky to have options.

This is all true. It's impossible for most people to buy a home now, especially with Chinese and Ruzzian money laundering in the housing market driving prices out of touch with reality. The health care system should change its name to human plumbing operations department so people don't get too optimistic about their chances of survival. Food is unbelievably expensive and booze and cannabis are true luxuries, but necessities in such a depressing society. A hockey game, our pastime, will cost you two days pay for an average salary. Traveling, from local transit to airline, is double any other country I've been to. What's missing? Oh yeah, Winter!

As someone from the US, here’s what I will say- you can find a small community or a community within a large city that will fit your needs if you look hard enough. HOWEVER, outside of that community, our larger government will never be the right fit for you, for the same reason you’ve “outgrown”Canada. “We” rarely invest in our own country and citizens, and always have “our” hands and money in other country’s affairs where they don’t belong and aren’t welcome. The government is unbelievably corrupt, out of touch, and is more focused on getting one side to hate the other side than actually making “no-brainer” steps that we all agree on to make things better for everyone. If you’re looking for a place to land for a little while I’d say a place with a Muslim community is fine, but long term your money won’t be going to places that aligns with your morals and values.

You forgot to mention the extremely toxic work environment at least in healthcare where I was employed although I did work in retail for awhile which was just as bad. The backstabbing is unbelievable especially if you're new to the area. Smaller towns are not friendly and even if you're only from the next town over, you are looked as an intruder. I'm happily retired now and avoid people as much as possible, this from a person who was born right here in Ontario. But you are spot on, Canada is not a place I would choose to live and my parents regretted ever coming here from Europe sucked in by the preception that Canada was the Land of Milk and Honey.

No new hospitals being built, no new houses being built (except by the developers like Minto who like to mint every penny from you), no new transit system being built (except the crap ones like the Ottawa LRT and Eglinton LRT which hasn't even started functioning) and the govt wants new immigrants. I'm an immigrant from the UK, which is in someways worse than Canada and some ways better, both Governments are corrupt and beholden to the US Empire and huge Corporations. Tell me why I should choose this authoritarian, dystopian nightmare of a country, over my home authoritarian, dystopian nightmare of a country? At least the UK doesn't steal your hard earned money, for protesting the corrupt Government. They may beat you up and arrest you for it, but that's kids play compared to what Canada does. \n\nMost prices in this country are as similar as the UK's, allowing for exchange. But food is unbelievably more expensive and the UK is an island. My husband wants us to move to the UK, but I have fallen in love with this country, it's beauty and it's people. I'm heartbroken, I can only imagine what those who were born here feel. When skilled immigrants come here and have to start at the bottom in many industries, no matter how rich their CV. When pay is as bad as back home, in some cases worse, why would they bother? Not to mention the taxes. And I happen to be a traditional leftist, who believes in progressive taxing. Trudeau is too busy cosplaying his ego into US proxy wars and identity poltics, which serves only to divide the people. His days are numbered, I only have to listen to my friends and neighbours.

My immigration process took 14 years in total until I could get here, it was a blessing and I had a lot of gratitude to be here after living in a warzone. Ive lived in Winnipeg for 10 years, a part of me was always happy and okay to deal with the cold because at least nobody would be killing you or attempting to on a daily basis, with rockets and bombs. 10 years later, I was wondering that the only reason we came here was to escape war, and not find a better quality of life. You can tell me “you don’t like it then leave” but i find it disturbing that many Canadians here don’t recognize how bad the situation gets, when governments don’t do anything to enhance quality of life and corporates take control everywhere and raise the costs to unbelievable numbers. Housing crisis, most can’t afford houses or even rent a nice apartment. Healthcare system is a complete dogshit mess, people here don’t recognize the importance of how much this industry needs to be supported by governments and citizens because EVERYONE benefits from it and stay alive longer. I don’t know man, I only see it collapsing going forward, especially when everyone is divided and the aboriginal issues are a constant trend.

Maybe outside of Toronto is not bad but down town , is terrible . Traffic is unbelievable, most streets got reduced to one lane with addition of bike lines . How smart, considering Toronto has 5 months of winter, and no maintenance or delivery trucks can not stop anywhere without blocking the street. Other thing is bums and junkies everywhere. They walk around covered in puke shit and piss,screaming and intimidating other people . If you leave car unlocked they will steal stuff. Streets are covered with garbage , shit , piss and puke , what a great city :))).

I'm going to bring up a non health care , social or gun violence issue that every American I've met who comes to Canada ususally comments on and that's how clean Canada is compared to the State, the pollution in the states is unbelievable its like no one cares there , in my province we have 4 different garbage pick ups once a week recycling for plastic paper glass cans and, Green bin food waste used to create clean compost , and seasonally yard waste every 2 wks again for composting and finally actual garbage which is only picked up every other week , seem like Americans just chuck there trash where ever they please

Could we bus these people to New York and Chicago? It might be fun to see how horrendous of a crisis we can create. It would be interesting to know where all the drugs these people are using is coming from. Even more interesting is how police, with all the technology we now have, still can't bust the drug dealers.
