How can they demand anything? I was on a 2 year work visa in the UK and the moment my visa was up, I left because I followed THEIR rules. These students should not be allowed to work, they are taking jobs away from young Canadians. I am not racist, I have seen it everywhere with my own eyes and talking to people.

I lived in Ottawa all my life...maybe 2015, they started coming in so fast, I've never really seen so many Indians...now they're all over the place. Not saying it's a bad thing. Just what I've noticed. And lately I have been seeing them in Gatineau but knowing Quebec has new French rule, this may not want them to go live in QC. I think Vancouver has a lot of Chinese and Indians. Just the way it is. They say white people had it too easy and just demanded more from the government whereas Asians will come here for a better life, possibly doing labor work and not complain, so is this is the government is accepting of them? Are they helping with the economy? I am not sure where where all these numbers are coming from.

I think he's not the best person to interview about the problem. They should have interviewed people who recently immigrated with semi skilled or vocational jobs. Like plumbers, electricians, or truck drivers. These professions are in demand in Canada due to shortage but the remuneration is low compared to the very high cost of living in Canada. I'd say it's better to live in a poorer or middle income countries like Thailand or the Philippines but with better affordability.

I’ve been in Canada for over 24 years and I have never seen it like this in my life!\nThe main cause of the majority of issues is the housing crisis.\n\nWhat a lot of you might not be aware of is that we have not been building homes to keep up with the demand for over two decades. That’s why the price for housing has increased astronomically. And then our government decided to basically allow unfettered immigration in order to take advantage of the new immigrants’ money so they can use it to fund the Canadian Pension Plan.\n\nJust an FYI, the way CPP is funded is that the current group of working people are paying for the current group of retired seniors. And due to the lack of childbirths and people living longer, the CPP can no longer afford to take care of all the seniors in its system. Thus, the government devised a plan to have more people coming here so as to milk the money they have. Actually, they’ve even gone to the extent to basically allow seniors to be willingly euthanized… it’s absolutely bonkers.\n\nBut anyway, I digress… so then with housing at astronomical prices, you’re now pushing out the poor people onto the streets, causing homelessness. \n\nAnd when people are homeless, the average person will do drugs to escape reality and commit crimes to survive. Which is why it’s now increasingly dangerous in public spaces. \n\nThen, the transportation also never accounted for such a massive increase in population. At least not in Toronto. Which is also causing major inconvenience to go anywhere. \n\nIt used to be that if you lived in the suburbs, you could drive into Toronto pretty quickly but now, it takes like an hour and a half to two hours, making it extremely difficult to get around. And also, hard to take advantage of the “lower” housing prices in the suburbs.\n\nBut that’s not all. Part of the issue is that the Trudeau government wants to no longer have Canada use our oil and gas overnight, which is causing the increase in gas prices. Many Canadians still rely on gas because electric cars are not efficient in Canadian weather and are simply too expensive for your average person. And yet they cut off our supply of oil and gas which causes the price inflation of transport and anything that requires to be moved such as groceries and supplies.\n\nAnd don’t get me started on how our healthcare system is falling apart… even though we pay some of the highest taxes in the world…

When ever Europeans gather and protest, they get a beat down from the government. But every other people just voices their opinions and demands one time they get everything.

Based on the information provided in the video, I'd like to give my opinion on how to surpass these issues :\n- immigrants and students are not the issue here cuz they hugely contribute to economic growth; they are skillful, they pay taxes and they bring what they have in their homelands.\n- if the demand is high, gov should intervene in the supply side, by facilitating construction permits, giving investment facilities, excluding some products from taxation.. etc.\n- the carbon issue is a hoax, did the world abandon airlines ? No, did those who have private jets get taxed more ? I dont think so. So why tax the average people to make up for all of this ? Not so equal to me.\n- competitiveness among businesses and facilitating entrance to markets should be the priority, i dn't think that would happend cuz of lobbying.\nThese are my humble suggestions, PS: I dnt live there nd never did.

Video titles like this are so stupid. Especially when in the video itself it speaks to the vacancy rate. Why is rent so high? Because the vacancy rate is so low which proves that A LOT of people want to live in Canada. The video itself speaks to NIMBYism and municipal government’s slow reaction to accommodate construction. The only thing the Feds did is to allow more people that want to be Canadians to have a chance. Low wages and the high cost of products are the fault of greedy corporations. Those people leaving and can no longer stay in Canada is the result of natural selection. I get that everyone is struggling, and feel that we need someone to blame. Since we can’t control our neighbours that stop progress and the corporations that gouge us, as a democracy, we go after what we do control- our government- even if the problem isn’t really of their creation. This issue of affordability is happening all over the world. Corporations and those who run them disproportionately keep all the money. But that doesn’t mean that Canada isn’t a great place to live and raise a family. It’s a huge country. The only thing the Feds can do is incentivize companies to set up shop in less desirable places and eleviate demand off of Vancouver and Toronto (the usual suspects and source for all those rental shortage b-rolls). Then, the neighbours in Moose Jaw will start complaining that their town is changing too fast.

This is a global phenomenon, not just in Toronto. Mass migration caused this. The more people flood a country, the more demand for housing grows. This causes the price to go up and causes all kinds of poverty and criminal activity.

All those who leave Canada will come back in 5 years. They will worship the country for its economic growth beginning with a new Clean energy sector. Hence shareholder primacy is a hoax in front of human energy that is sustained by clean environment. Mark Carney leads that mission internationally. Money is not Energy, it's only a lever. Therefore, you need people living in good health to action the lever. Canada is full of natural resources, untapped critical minerals etc. and has been able to garner large amounts of foreign investment from large corporations like Honda, Dow and BHP to develop the much demanded clean energy and Energy transformation better than the USA. These companies know Canada's potential for a reliable economy and economic growth.

When I passed my Post Graduation in 70' s from London University ( in Engineering) Canadian Embassy gave me Visa and One way ticket for free. While I was in Embassy waiting .. I saw some colorful journals and green in summer mounds of snow in winter. I had grown up Central Indian Climate. 5 years in England still kept me alienated environ cold weather and Culture. Most disturbing was visible Brown skin foreigners for ever.....at 2nd tier of Society ,..... after getting 4 month Valid visa I started probing fron friends who had earlier migrated to Canada. Living, impediment of long very cold winter, 1970's Canada was still racist and Parliament had strong bill waiting to stop colored immigrants and keep country white...Then in 1975 the Bill was voted down. For the reason that old white generation was aging and demanding Pension and Health Care. Welfare Chest was showing bottom and had to be replenished by tax money. Young tax payers were needed. India, China and Black Carribian were overflowing with young workers...so they had swollow Colored immigrants. Country was the largest but most commercia cities are at border of America, because north is brutal cold. Canada could not build population. 30m (10% of USA.) And Economically behind CA$= 0.80USD. Let the Visa expire...and went back to my old country to Start my Consultancy office. Lived in upper middle class tier and retiring with comfortable cushion to survive . The housing crisis was caused by high immigration. It's simple supply and demand. Too many people chasing too few houses and rentals.

I came here as an international student, back then you could only get your PR if you studied at an accredited university, not a career college. Back then skilled workers were required, and that is how you were able to get a PR. Canada has changed so much, multicultural has left and more and more there are two cultures dominating. I came here because I use to visit for our annual holidays then decide I liked the culture and wanted to study here. The landscape has shifted , Canadians will soon be the minority and that is not the Canada I want to be paying taxes in. \nThere are always protesters waving foreign flags demanding that the government help their families, love ones in another country, meanwhile Canadians here are loosing their homes , can't afford food, basic life necessities and living in tents. Charity should start at home first.\nResponsible tax payers cannot afford to have kids, why because the taxes we pay are too high, if we're struggling to survive why would we subject a child into this world to experience the same. However, there are millions of dollars in incentives for people who never paid in to come to Canada with their extended family members who are dependent on government support, that we the taxpayers have to finance. The aging population could be address if the affordability could be address for citizens living here and PAYING taxes. If the government wants to bring in aging populations who never worked in Canada, their families should be funding their living here including healthcare, not taxpayers. Invest in your people first , help Canadians become more skilled to fill positions that there are shortages, lower taxes to allow Canadians to have said families and replenish the population , these are the people who would always put Canada first.

I came to Canada as a toddler in 2001 and it was like a dream come true for someone from a poor 3rd world country. But as of 10 years ago, the quality of life as well as the quality of services has just been getting worse and worse. As an immigrant myself, i know i shouldn't be saying this, but we seriously need to put immigration at a halt so that the current inhabitants can pick themselves up.\n-The job market is in a crisis, you can have a Masters Degree and still make less than 50K a year\n-We're facing an economic crisis where the cost of living is higher than what you're making (Low-class & Middle-class)\n-Free Healthcare is no longer worth paying for but we have no choice because majority can't afford to pay for Private.\n-Education level is a joke in comparison to Asia and Europe.\n-Most people are too old to even realize that they're voting for the wrong parties to run the country.\n-Depression rate is higher than ever. Satisfaction of life is plummeting, Suicide rate slowly increasing every year.\n-Public services are becoming more expensive, which once used to be Canada's greatest selling point.\n-No one wants to work the jobs that are available and in demand because immigrants are getting to pick and choose.\n-Properties are being bought out by foreigners thus raising the price for citizens who can't afford to buy anymore.\n-Birth rate and relationship satisfaction is slowly declining giving immigrant families access to Citizen status facilities.

People never seem to understand that people are resource like everything else in an economy. If you bring in an unusually enormous amount of people to an economy, it will drive up the cost of everything, since when demand is high for housing, groceries and of the like, the supply won't ever meet the demand when you are superficially pumping the economy of an otherwise unneeded supply. The only way to make it better is to halt all immigration, especially illegal immigration, and reinstitute family culture for child rearing, in order to organically grow the economy.

I think everyone is missing the point here. I Don’t support Israel’s retaliation, but I wondered why the Arab world has not taken in a single refugee. Poland didn’t condone Russia’s attack by taking in hundreds of thousands Ukrainian refugees. If Egypt, jordan, Quatar, to name the immediate Arab Neighbors would rally together to get the women and children out of harms way, surely the outcome would be better for these poor people. \n\nSadly this is not the case and it appears as though this conflict will never find a solution, as long as both parties are not able to set aside their millennia aged quarrel, acknowledge each other’s deep roots and belonging to the same land, and accept that they both come from the exact same bloodline. The exact same seed of a man named Abraham. Both parties need not to like or even tolerate each other, but they both need to respect each other’s right to co exist within that space. I’ve heard some disgusting vitriol from both sides, honestly. Both sides have and are behaving like animals. Infact animals are more civil, as their disputes are settled in a more humane manner, without the casualties within their communities. Yet, despite being created in God’s image with the ability of sophisticated communication, both sides are unable to get past their own hurt pride, at least for the sake of the innocent lives that have and continue to be lost on BOTH sides, to finally squash this matter once and for all.\n\nGrowing up I had a cousin . We both were the only Sons of our respective immediate families’, born to identical twin sisters, 3 months apart. From\nA young age everything was competition between us. Who ran faster, jumped higher, threw further. Every thing we did, and we spent a lot of time around each other, was constantly turned into a “who does it better”. This resulted in us usually throwing down as one of us, feeling like we may be on the losing end of any given task, would just get frustrated, and start soccer punching the other. And my cousin and I from the time were off the diary to the day we both matured, would THROW down. We would literally just start throwing punches at each other, it was honestly impressive how we both would manage to land equal amount of hits to look like literal bloody hell, and guess what, even those fights became competition as even our dads would throw money with the others pitching for their favourite. Fortunately, our moms, the only adults in the our community, looking back, people would just pick a side and watch as go at each other, than pull us off each other, would come stomping out of the house grab each one of us by our ears, gives us a good smack in the back our heads and sit us down, look each one of us straight in the eye, and say something like, “cut it out, you two are family, more brothers than cousins” they would demand that we both go hug it out, have a bath, if we managed to do that peacefully then we were allowed to partake in dessert that evening or allowed to stay up a little later watching tv, or whatever . My point with this overtly personal analogy is that both the Palestinian and the Israeli sides should be dragged off each there by their figurative ears pulled, sat down, scolded and reminded of their ancestrial ties to each other and to the very same land. \n\nBe honest with yourselves, some how amongst all this hate, vitriol, unnecessary death of innocent lives, are you, and those you rally with be truly ok with your opposing side coexisting harmoniously beside each other? Although it somehow claims to not be doing so, the actions of Israel demonstrate a gruelling callousness towards Palestinian life or right to life, and the staunch calls of the constant pro Palestine protests, calling for the eradication of Israel, none absent of a deep, hate and disgust towards the Jewish people. And as an outsider, I think it’s is important that pressure be applied to both sides to put their weapons down. I don’t recall the last time anyone even mention the Israeli hostages, putting any pressure on Hamas to do the one thing that would definitely appease the Israelis. In the same breathe, Israel needs to be further pressured to stop being so trigger happy and lay off of it. \n\nI can only hope, I guess. It's not a housing bubble. A bubble is when investors overvalue a commodity. Even taking into account speculative property purchases, housing isn't overvalued in Canada. It is where it is because that is where the market has found the balance between the high demand and the low supply. There simply isn't enough housing being built to accommodate a million more people a year. We need to build more lower and middle-class housing. As a student of both history and architecture, I can tell you we've been here before and we dealt with it, and we can again. This situation is both a result of many factors that could and couldn't be centrally controlled. Things that couldn't be controlled: Covid and a spike in retirement rates, an aging population, low profit margins for builders, and inflation (that last one is not so easy for a central bank to control as many people seem to think it is). Factors that could be controlled: Zoning laws and bylaws, linking immigration to the amount of housing available and being built, government greed for foreign money to balance their books, short-sighted politicians of all stripes, underfunding of post-secondary education, and lack of government incentives to make building worthwhile for contractors. I've probably missed some things, but the point is that this is not an intractable predicament, and good leadership, good ideas and the will to make things happen can get us out of it.

Until 2020 (pandemic), most lifelong Canadians would have proudly & quickly said Canada is a great place. For multiple generations (young & old). It still is in many ways. But like all countries, a bunch of things have made life more difficult lately. \n \nDuring the COVID lockdowns, many people went wild wanting to buy a house (urban & rural). Increasing demand and rising prices. Not long after, inflation caused mortgage rates especially to rise. Rent costs soared too. People interested in working in hospitals declined. Less doctors etc.. \n \nSimultaneously in Canada, the number of people coming by air, land and boat to claim asylum skyrocketed. For example, in 2023 alone, in just one region (Central Canada) around 400 people arrived per day (on average). Ditto for other populated provinces. Also the number of international students SKYROCKETED too. In 2023, averaging around 2,000 per day across Canada. Years 2021 and 2022 had high #s too. \n \nThe majority trying to migrate to Canada recently have been from South Asia. And it's become extremely obvious to Canadians. Even those that are very used to much diversity & many cultures. Plus neighborhoods now know that international students are using schooling as a 'back door' ticket to come to Canada for permanent residency. No one says it in public amongst strangers, but everyone knows because they've witnessed the extreme PR frenzy firsthand by now. To many Canadians it has felt like a tidal wave that has reached all cities and small towns, with a post secondary school. This extreme situation never existed prior to 4 years ago.\n \nHospitals have been hit with many wanting free healthcare. Less doctors/nurses etc., means greater waiting times. Plus a VERY SEVERE HOUSING CRISIS has occurred in many western countries including in Canada. In ways not seen in people's lifetimes. And if you do find a place to live its quite expensive. Including small basement rooms. \n \nNow westerners want the money greedy agents (pseudo smugglers) in other countries to stop marketing & LYING to their own people about access to PR or citizenship … or accommodation/jobs … being easy (to get). And for any greedy people living in western countries to be ashamed of themselves if they're hurting students. Anyone doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires. At best, there is a 25% chance of gaining PR (better odds if you are masters/medicine etc.). \n \nNot all players across the board have acted honestly over the years, i.e. contract marriages (IELTS spouse), anchor babies, fraud, false asylum claims. Canada has asked the India government to prevent “ghost consulting”. The new PRIVATE (non-public) colleges are being investigated (including looking for strong oversea ties). \n \nCanadians are meeting students who told Canada they have enough $, but it turns out they borrowed it (some borrowed it for the application process only). Canadian food banks and other CHARITY services have been recklessly advertised on YouTube (by India students in Indian language). Many transit services have launched stricter rules, i.e. lost monthly bus passes registered in your name are now never replaced (unlike before). \n \nThen this year throw in all the Palestinian vs Israeli angry protests happening regularly in cities. Plus the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortion mostly happening in Ontario and British Columbia. Plus the Canadian government also recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Hate crimes have gone from rare to occasional (primarily South Asians against South Asians). \n \nCanadians are so so so so so not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now VERY worried and fearful (due to all of the above). And all are praying it doesn't turn into great anger (like in the USA). \n \nCanadians want multi-culturism to succeed … and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Everyone I know is VERY happy with Canada Immigration's recent changes (reductions & investigations). Including multi-generational long-term Asian-Canadians where many have been the most upset (by all of this).

Housing is a huge problem we immigrate more people than we build new homes that’s obviously going to be a problem. Growth has to happen by immigration or convincing the people here to have more children but you need to build the homes to keep up with the demand it’s that simple.

Canada cannot make its own money. So what does it do? It has to figure out unethical ways to bring in money. This is done by bringing in immigrants. There is multiple birds with one Stone hit here. Meaning gives immigrants the lie of a better life. So they take all their money that they have in their nation. And they bring it here. That's free money that Canada did not have to work for and now other nations have lost. then they lied to them and tell them that they can get anything they want. For me to get a franchise here while owning other businesses was IMPOSSIBLE 5 yrs ago. But these guys with no credentials are getting it right away. I wasn't allowed to modify my house or rent by law. And they are now allowing all of that. My mother had an international driver's license from France and she had to go through hoops to get her licence here. They are handing things over with no screening to these people which is cause instability and chaos. No structure. They let them bring their huge money here and put into franchises with no credentials. Bank loans free approval no questions asked. Meanwhile, most of those franchises will never make any money. Then they will take that money also, and put it into homes. Rent etc, and this is the part where they basically drain the immigrant money in an instant and put it into Canada economy. Now that you have all these immigrants buying all these businesses. Now you need slave work, so you start Bringing it more immigrants to work those slave jobs. Because in the 1990s, all the way up to 2010. You were encouraging Education. During that time Education was the money Maker. So you kept pushing that. Billions went to universities. Telling people that they'll have a better future. That was the lie of that time. Now you want the same people to work min wage jobs. Now immigration is a bigger Money maker. They say they're bringing in these guys Because they want to work these jobs that a canadians don't want to work. That's because you just made those fake jobs by creating more immigrants to come here have franchises that need minimum wage jobs. But you also promised the rest of us that if we worked hard enough, we will get better jobs. So why would we want to resort to minimum wage jobs on top of you ruining the market for housing inflation taxes etc? How could we even afford while working Minimum wage jobs. And that's why they're bringing people in here. This goes deeper than it seems. socialism. then they get mad At us and demand more taxes and more money. But Canada is a closed system. So how can we afford giving you more than we're making? This insanity has to stop. This chaos needs to stop.

As an employer in a mid-skill company, late 2021 and pretty much all of 2022 were the worst times for hiring. You legitimately could not find competent people. Things have only gotten slightly better since then.\n\nThe problem is that few of the people they're bringing in can fill anything but low skill, minimum wage jobs. They don't have the education for more, their English language skills are questionable, and they often clash with the culture. And worst of all, they are financially supported by the government which provides the double whammy of increasing tax burden while also increasing product demand, which exacerbates the labour shortage.

Cheap labor. If there are more people than jobs, then they don't have to increase wages. Basic supply and demand.

Once they're there.......they are there for good. If people don't wake up and demand politicians put an end to the mass influx of foreign invaders, the west is done......then we'll have no choice but to take the matter into our own hands?

I do not understand why ? People from india decide to come here and they are calling everyone to provide discounts and demanding as an obligation to provide special promotions and lower rate so why did you come to a country where prices are crazy expensive ? please think about it before come here.

Canada is short 5.8 million homes. CMHC and builder's association latest number were around 3 million, but that low number was assuming a population of 38 million people. Canada has almost 41 million people.\nIf Canada can build it's way out of this mess, there are 100s of thousands of construction jobs available. The demand for housing is there, the government just needs to get out of the way. All the municipal, provincial and federal red tape is leaving Canada a quagmire for builders.\nCanada could be booming with all that demand. But failure of leadership and outright corruption in city halls across the country prevent it.

This is missing SOOOO much of the actual story of what is going on over here. There is a lot of corruption in our housing market fueled by faked incomes just for starters. That's not including the massive supply and demand crunch we are facing on multiple fronts from having too much people suddenly, to having not enough housing suddenly. For those curious, you can find some CBC marketplace videos that cover some of this from a couple years back. The banks have been caught f'ing around as well, what with pushing through mortgage requests that should never have been allowed to occur; and that's just what we know about. \n\nNo offense to anyone in this video, or anyone else like them. Biden is mentally incompetent as evidenced by his inability to navigate state appearances without prompting and reminders from staff. Also his memory gaps during speeches should be concerning due to it's indicative of cognitive disconnect and impairment. You have to see what happened around the world,without going too far , the USA have a big problem with homelessness, 100 times more than Canada , obviously Canada is only 10% of the American population, our system in the hospital are treated in accordance to the grade of injuries the more severe are look after before your broken arm, over someone hurt in a car accident , so the attention goes to the more serious issues, but still you get care regardless how long you been waiting , unlike the USA sent you home if you don’t have health insurance,credit card , or cash to look after your problem , they will direct you to the emergency were you can wait for hours behind dozens of people waiting to see a doctor, some people had died waiting to see a doctor, our system is not perfect but nobody will let you died because you have no insurance ,money , or credit card , \nWhy people are leaving the country , is because the cost of living has skyrocketing to the point of no return , if you can only work to pay your rent and eat poorly, but with no possibility to save for the future it’s a wasting time to stick around ,and the people coming to Canada will find our system is not perfect and the image of Canada is tannish , but only people with highly educated will find they pathway to a high standards of living if you can make over 90.000 dollars and 180.000 for working couples in high demand

Part of the problem is outside Canada, people seem to think Canada only has two cities and two provinces which happen to also be the two cities with the highest housing and rent prices. It is partially this lack of research and knowledge is driving up their demand and therefore prices.

People who come to Canada after receiving their PR struggle way too much. When you apply for a job here, they require you to have 1 year of Canadian working experience. How does someone fulfill that criteria if they've just landed in a new country? The government should instead open PR for only blue-collar jobs, which are actually in high demand. The whole immigration program otherwise feels like a scam. You shouldn't be getting any points for your educational and professional qualifications in the application when, in reality, it's not going to help you afterward. Most of the people I know here are planning a relocation because they don't see themselves owning a house anytime soon.

Cost of living has gone up due to immigration, plain and simple. The increased market demand from immigrants is not being met by the supply, which means the market inflates. This is economy 101. If there is something people want (housing), the more people who want it and the less of it there is, the more it will cost. Immigration is *dircetly* affecting the housing crisis in an objectively negative way. *Acknowledge it.*\n\nIf you *don't* think that bringing *500,000* new people into the country *every year* is going to further inflate the market then you are delusional. There is not only already too many people in this country for the government and market to handle, but the government's solution is to bring in even more! *They are literally exacerbating the problem before our very eyes.*

Why do all these people feel so entitled to believe that a foriegn country will lay out a red carpet for them, house them, feed them, clothe them, etc. Canada and the U.S. do not exist for these people to come and benefit from and there isnt an infinite amount of space, money or resources to provide for people that have never contributed to these countries economies, infrastructures, communities. You cannot push your way, scam and lie and then demand more while depleting resources and help meant for the citizens of that country. The expectations and entitlement is what gets me. There are processes for a reason and no one is above them!
