There's many reasons not to like Trudeau up here in Canada, many of which are the reason he'll (rightfully) no longer be the PM next week. As a conservative I hated him for SNC-Lavalin (among other scandals), and the fact that his inexperience with the economy Harper left him is probably part of why this trade war is going to hurt more than it could have, and the fact that he's often been kind of a phony more concerned with looking and sounding good for the press cameras. Not this time. Nothing phony here; I've got to give credit to him for capturing the national mood pretty much perfectly with this speech. Good on him. \n\nAnd congratulations as well to Donald for pretty much handing the Liberals their best shot at a fourth term, too. What an absolute idiot. Normally I'd turn my nose up at having to vote Liberal, but I am so, so sick of the brand of empty populism Trump stands for that it looks like that's what I'm gonna be doing come election time.

Canadian here. There's a lot of people in Canada that don't like Trudeau for a lot of reasons, but with the recent events I think the majority of the country has come to tolorate him a little while longer until we get a new Prime Minister. Trumps actions have only united the Canadian people.

Respect! I think Trudeau speaks plainly about the madness of the latest tariffs. I'm pleased that he speech was measured and polite. And how he spoke directly to people in the USA, dismissing the totally unjustifiable reasons Trump has made for implementing the tariffs.

It's easier up there bcuz that border isn't as secure as the southern border. I guarantee you their statistics for fentynal crossing in via Canada is wrong. They should have already been doing their job at that border. Trump had to threaten them in order for them to use drones, etc. at the border. They should have been doing that. These tariffs had initially been deferred to April. The reason Trump decided to put them in so abruptly is in retaliation to Trudeau doubling down on support fir Ukraine. This is so annoying. Most Canadians don't want our tax dollars going to Ukraine either.

Netherlands here: Trump HAS to impose tariffs because he promised it a zillion times during his campaign. As a major narcissist he cannot afford to say that he made a mistake, and therefor: tariffs. I predict however that this period will not last very long. Only as long as necessary to make it possible for Trump to say that they didn't work out as planned because of some reason.

I'm a truck driver in the USA and our Chinese client canceled our contract because of the tariffs. It's been a month now of joblessness, and I can't even get other contracts or secure a reasonably paying trucking job. This administration is so cruel and careless
