Came to Canada as a Dentist? Doesn't matter, you need to climb the ladder again and in the meantime work as a Receptionist making minimum wage.\n\nImmigrants with money are obligated to prove themselves. Buy housing, start a business. Numerous cities such as Brampton are being filled with slums. Housing a double digit of residents in the basement at absurd costs so the landlords can afford their ridiculous mortgages and lifestyle off the back of other immigrants/refugees.\n\nThe main issue is the hate directed towards immigrants. First of all, in the video it was disgusting for the man to acknowledge that someone was wearing good clothes and asking where the refugee center is. Someone can be a refugee and still have money. If I was Prime Minister. I would Ban the immigrant Visa program for the next 10 years. Doubling and tripling the time served and raising bail fees by 50% to keep folks that have criminal pasts off the streets <---- for first time offenders. \n\nFor those that have multiple offenses. Quadruple the jail times and put bail amounts 100% more then what they are now. \n\nGive those that kill, ra*e, torture, (and things along that nature (the death penalty) \n\nI would remove the mandate for Electric Vehicles for Canada. Where only 1 vehicle per manufacturer would have to be Electric. So if somebody wants it. It's there but the majority would be. Gas / Diesel etc. \n\nI would build more housing / schools / retirement homes / hospitals / recreation centre's / Library and walk in Clinics. \n\nI would write a law that the roads in Canada must be fixed properly. Not just patched. \n\nI would raise the taxes on Multi Million and Billion Corporations and those that make $400.000 or more to pay a higher tax. While those that make less than $400.000 get taxed less. \n\nI would Lower the provincial taxes by 2% effective immediately and the Minimum wage across all provinces would be $17.75 an hour for full time workers (over 32 hours per week) with .25 cent yearly increases until 2030 to be reassessed. \n\nI would give Tax cuts to those who want to open businesses and build and sell Canadian Products to make sure Canadian Goods are affordable to make. Still have a profit to slow down overseas production creating more Canadian jobs for Canadian People. \n\nEvery Worker that works 24 hours or more weekly is getting Benefits making it mandatory for all types of business owners to make benefits available to the workers and ensuring the plan covers a minimum of 50% throughout the entire year. \n\nI would raise the pension to those who have worked 25+ years in Canada and remain in Canada as a retiree for a minimum of 6 months of the year 5% \n\nShrinkflation will stop. With major corporations getting fined if they don't smarten up and change the way the make and package goods. \n\nI would put a cap on Car insurance for those that have never been in an accident before and lowering the monthly cost by 10% \n\nCondo sizes would have to increase the square footages by a minimum of 10% of the national average to make sure that there is enough room and peaceful environment for those that live in those spaces. \n\nI would ban that you would have to pay additional for parking at every Rental property including lockers, that the property owners purchased during pre construction as well as lower the public parking costs nation wide in parking garages by 20% and cap it. \n\nI would Lower transit costs nation wide by 20% and cap it. \n\nI would bring back texts books and paper to schools so kids read more. Write more. Understand more. Learn more for those in grade 8 and under. \n\nI would ban every Pride event in Canada and charge people fines if they hang rainbow colored Canadian flags anywhere on any property including ban clothing with those colors on the Canadian Flags immediately. Failure to do so would also Ban same sex marriage the following year on the same date that the first ban was made if Failure to comply. \n\nI would ban any book or literature for kids that is LGQTB written. \n\n& that is just the beginning.

My mother had an international driver's license from France and she had to go through hoops to get her licence here. They are handing things over with no screening to these people which is cause instability and chaos. No structure. They let them bring their huge money here and put into franchises with no credentials. Bank loans free approval no questions asked. Meanwhile, most of those franchises will never make any money. Then they will take that money also, and put it into homes. Rent etc, and this is the part where they basically drain the immigrant money in an instant and put it into Canada economy. Now that you have all these immigrants buying all these businesses. Now you need slave work, so you start Bringing it more immigrants to work those slave jobs. Because in the 1990s, all the way up to 2010. You were encouraging Education. During that time Education was the money Maker. So you kept pushing that. Billions went to universities. Telling people that they'll have a better future. That was the lie of that time. Now you want the same people to work min wage jobs. Now immigration is a bigger Money maker. They say they're bringing in these guys Because they want to work these jobs that a canadians don't want to work. It can be affordable *today* if you move there, but it is likely not affordable if you live there and make their wages.\n\nToronto has become more expensive as time passes. It was great value in the 1990s when things were cheaper, when Toronto's future was less solidified, and there were less immigrants. Now, it is keeping up in cost with other walkable, dense cities in North America.

I have lived in canada my whole life. \nHere are the main hurdles:\n1. Cost of realestate and cost of living. You need white collar wages just to be able to rent, not buy, rent an apartment in most major cities. Cost of homes is insane as well.\n2. Jobs often pay low wages below what is needed to afford to live unless its white collar or trades working overtime hours. The jobs that do pay well often get hundreds of applications making your chances lower.\n3. Dentists cost an arm and a leg. The cost of it is insane unless you have a really good coverage plan from your job. \n4. Healthcare moves at a snails pace. Not good if you have a serious illness or disease.\n5. The climate overall sucks. Its not cold. Its ridiculously cold.\n\nMy advice: Be made of money. \nSeriously though, have a huge savings and have a long term financial plan. Getting jobs that pay a living wage here as newcomers here are HARD to get because they always want Canadian work experience. University education from other countries other than the US, UK, or Australia don't count here. Be prepared to live very humbly unless you are just made of money.\n\nI dont even want to live in canada anymore. Numbers reported are true and its going to increase in 2024. I live in the capital and I see dozens of distress home sales due to increased mortgages. People face high taxation, heavily overburdened healthcare system, unaffordable rentals, loss of jobs, grocery prices over the roof, rapidly increasing crime rate and robberies, uncertainty about the good days again. Canada used to be a good place to settle, but now there are dozens of other countries that are welcoming with an affordable peaceful life. For Indians, there is absolutely no reason to hunt for a job or better life here as it involves start from the scratch for everything. India is rushing to become the fastest growing economy in the world with millions of opportunities and a solid political leadership, a history in the making.

I am a Mexican living in Mexico, I have visited Canada on several occasions and I think it is an excellent place to live. The part I don't understand about this report is: if people are leaving Canada, why is the cost of housing still high? In my opinion, the people who are now leaving Canada realized too late that they cannot afford the standard of living in a country like Canada. The same would have happened if they had emigrated to England, France, the United States or Germany. The phenomenon has more to do with the value of work than with Canada. In the last two decades the value of unskilled work has plummeted, no one can live in a moderately developed country with an unskilled job, to make matters worse, now white collar jobs have also begun to disappear. Society is simply transformed again and the effects of this transformation begin to be noticed first in those countries where life is more expensive.

As Canadian born raised here we've tremdious growth over the decades specially inside areas outside the GTA. One the biggest issues facing everyone here besides immigrants is taxes / inflation. Our government only looks at those coming from India as cash cow to keep things rolling economically more people more taxes are paid. Canada needs to start being more economic minded by reducing all taxes abroad to make cost of living more affordable.

More or less the same trends can be seen in the US as well. I am a US Citizen and have lived here for 25+ years. The Federal Interest is on high here in order not to make immigrants afford housing. At the same time letting the people enter illegally over the border. Jobs are insecure and questionable for reduced hours etc., make it more complicated to move back to India. Kids born here will face the trauma of culture and other aspects of work and lifestyles. Moving west for better prospects of life is not the norm anymore.,

I hope they pass the word around so we get fewer illegals and economic migrants. Canada has to get its house in order for its own people not for all the people coming without being properly vetted according to our “not so good” immigration Law. Our country has many serious problems to address and fix i.e., health care, military funding, police funding, housing, affordable food. We need our borders strengthened and we need a government that puts the citizens first, not a government leader who with his every off the wall action makes us look an easy touch for the criminal element roaming the world. An excellent example of that is the horror story that is New York City.

Students arent the problem here though, the housing market is the issue across the entire western world. Something about it is broken, and the governments need to make housing more affordable - it’s ridiculous we have to work 10 years with no expenses just to pay for the house - in reality maybe we will get the house at 65, IF we even get the mortgage and can sustain paying it. This is ridiculous!

I think if you want to succeed then you will succeed anywhere. I love my country India. But I don’t like the pollution and the rat race children go through . You cannot afford a decent place to stay in big cities if you are not earning really really well. Yes, loneliness is there in Canada but you can make friends , join extracurricular activities. I do hate the health system but also I know that God forbid if I ever have a serious disease , I don’t have to pay for it through my nose like India. This lady is cribbing for nothing at all. I don’t think she wanted to stay. She must have thought here roads are paved with gold. In India also you have to struggle . Go in a packed train to work, come late and cook. You don’t learn any life skills because maid is there.

I’m Canadian, my parents didn’t have $28k to give me to go to university. So I’m sorry these ppl think that going to school in Canada is some magic ticket to a successful career making great money, but why should Canadians feel bad for these ppl? Yes u were sold a lie, that North America is some magical land of hope, it’s not, there are millions of ppl in the west who can’t afford university, and have to work their entire lives as janitors and labourers with no savings for retirement, nothing to offer their children, I don’t feel bad thst these ppl are being mislead by Canadian universities, so are we, so many college and university programs are a scam,

We have to make it affordable for existing Canadian citizens to have children. Free post secondary, Free daycare, Better healthcare, better CPP.....we can pay for all of this by eliminating corporate welfare, and making sure everyone pays their FAIR share of of the taxes.

Went back to Punjab India first time after 28 years in 2002. I felt at home soon as I got out of the Airport. Since then I've never felt Canada as my home and what makes it worse is that overall Canada is spiraling in a downward direction. The medical system, the immigration system, the housing affordability, the future of our children and grandchildren, to promote and force children into lgbtq community and on and on is just getting worse. Why is this allowed to happen? Post secondary institutions love foreign students. They charge waaaaay more and make that much more.\nThe response against more foreign students by liberal media is the threat that your tuition will go up with limits on foreign students.\nWhat about spaces? think about it , up to 90% of the school funding come from international student. Without them , I cannot imagine if local student can afford the tuition. If schools can still hire the best professors. And how many people may loss their job. Why can’t we think of education industry just like any other pillar economic sector similar to finance, manufacturing. The only thing we need to solve is housing. Just build more dorms and take in more students and make canadian economy better

well said. If you do not like the culture and values of a place, no hard feelings, if you can afford to leave, you should indeed live in a place that makes you happy. The western liberal democracy provides everything with freedom of choice and that is not something that many orthodox muslim families want - they not only want Islamic values and lifestyle, they want others around them to live these too. This is incompatible and it is excellent that this family is choosing to be where they will truly be happy. this needs courage and conviction. I may not agree with everything you say or share - but I do respect that there is always honesty in your ideas.

Every place has its positives and negatives. Canada is beautiful, clean and green. The people are polite and friendly at a superficial level and the infrastructure is great. But for a new immigrant it's very difficult to make new social contacts or even to get a good job. The cost of living is high and housing costs are exhorbitant. The medical system is terrible with people having to wait weeks to meet a specialist \n\n Indian cities are mostly dirty, polluted and chaotic with poor infrastructure. There is rampant corruption and people can be rude and obnoxious especially while driving. But you can get help for everything and living costs are affordable. Plus the social contacts ..family and friends around are priceless. The medical system is way better provided you have some money.

Moved to Canada in 2017 and looking to leave in 2024. I was lucky to come here with a job and I’m making a six figure income even though I’m far from being successful. However, the problem with canada at the moment is even if you have a decent job and not too bad salary, you still can’t afford a home and the rent keeps going through the roof. Canada’s obsession with immigration is lazy and irresponsible. The politicians and elites see immigrants as cash cows and instead of creating companies that generate jobs and wealth, they speculate in the housing markets which are fuelled by immigrants. Immigration is not necessarily a bad thing but you do it with a plan, definitely not as radically as Canada did under the liberal government. The massive immigration only helps the rich, the already haves and the investors. Ask middle and lower classes how they feel about their life quality in Canada, do they really benefit from the immigration? They fight hard for jobs with minimum wages, pay for ridiculous rents, wait in the long line at the emergency rooms, get into bidding wars in the housing markets …. If you are not rich, simply don’t come to Canada. It’s not worth it unless you enjoy living from paycheck to paycheck and owning nothing.

Born and raised in Toronto and i can tell you that life has become miserable here after covid. Your money isnworth nothing unless you make insanely amounts of money. You work your butt off to just pay bills and little money left to save for a dream that you can never afford. If it wasn't for all my family here I would definitely consider leaving it all behind here because this country as beautiful as it is has been depleted by our current government parasites.

It's funny how they relate not being able to afford a place or basic needs to mental health! The amount of money politicians make, doctors make, police make is absolutely ridiculous! I was born in Canada. I am now in Thailand. I worked 35 years for a large transportation organization. I am retired and loving living abroad. It is cold in Canada 6 months of the year. Climate change is creating massive forest wildfires every summer now creating horrid air quality issues especially in the west, which is the mist beautiful part of the country in my opinion. I traveled back for a couple of weeks in October 2023 and was in shock over the cost of everything especially considering the recent inflation problem affecting the entire world. I couldn't wait to het back to my life in Thailand. Here there is no racism that I can see. All races and religions are accepted here. I hardly ever wear pants, shorts and short sleeve shirts. I can golf 12 months a year and live very comfortably on my pension. I could not have the same quality of life in my home country and the medical industry makes care here very affordable and accessible. In B.C. I found it extremely difficult to find s family doctor after moving there even to get a comprehensive medical checkup. I love my country of origin but will never return as long as I have the choice. Canada is over taxed, over regulated and very expensive now. These are the facts that created my choice to emigrate.
