The social experiment with the girl raising money for Syrian refugees..I’d like to see them try it with an Indigenous 1st nations person and see how many people step in? Here in Northern Minnesota a very rural area yes we indigenous get that same treatment,from highschool staff favoring non matches to store employees following us around. I honestly think if they social experiment of people stepping in in an indigenous scenario I think the results would be much different. Sad racism is still so prevalent in 2023?. I my self live on a reservation in the US so I have experienced lots of racism and mistreatment pre assumptions.

As someone from Belgium that now lives in Columbus OH because of marriage, you're spot on with everything. Safety? Limited. Sprawl? Terrible. Rent? Eh it's not that bad. I make a base salary of $82.5k and my wife makes $50k. Our 2br 1ba apartment's rent is about $1000. It's a nice place, but it has some flaws. Our next place will be around $1500. I've told my wife I don't like the sprawl and lack of public transport here and I want to move to a place where that is less of an issue: Chicago, NYC or Boston. However, the latter two have crazy high rent.\n\nI must add, the terribly unsupported public education system in Columbus is by far the worst reason. My wife is a teacher at a Columbus City School that's almost 100% black. White families put their kids through private schools. The rest of the kids have terrible home lives and are therefore incredibly ill-behaved and under-educated. So much so that the teachers just CANNOT keep up with Ohio's learning standards. By the time these kids graduate (and that's a big IF), they would have learned about 20% of what a regular 18-year old would have learned in most of the world. This is in part due to:\n1. Parents that do not involve themselves in what their children do, and therefore do not discipline appropriately.\n2. Terrible school admins that force teachers to lower their standards to have a high passing rate for the school (otherwise it gets shut down). Also, due to the No Child Left Behind Act, admins also force teachers to teach how to pass state tests (repetitive bullshit) instead of important learning materials and/or critical thinking skills.\n3. A lot of these students are pushed into the gang lifestyle and see no future in their education. They don't even try.\n4. Burned out teachers that grew tired of the negative ROI and start giving out poor and inadequate work packets. However, I don't like blaming teachers, especially because my wife is the hardest working person I know.\n\nIt's hard to see my wife come back every day, exhausted. It pains me both for her and her kids. America doesn't give a fuck about education. The big theory is that they're purposely not giving public schools attention so they can be phased out and private education becomes the norm. And if you can't afford it? That's great, we need factory workers.\n\n\nI might convince my wife to move to Europe eventually (luckily a European marriage visa isn't as stupidly hard to obtain as it was for me to get here). Having kids in America is not something I'd like to think about. For now, I'm taking advantage of this high salary to save as much as I can and focus on advancing in my career. Sadly, that's really the only thing America is good for...

Montreal rents in pretty good and in Quebec in general. Ontario is a fair bit more expensive. However even Ontario rents aren't that bad compared big US cities. Where Canada is really expensive is the cost of *owning* housing. I also don't really agree about food being more expensive in the US, I'd say it's pretty close, maybe even slightly cheaper in the US.\n\nAnd I don't think Columbus, OH would be that bad to live in. Sure, it doesn't have the big city life like Montreal or Toronto or even Vancouver, but it's probably on par with Edmonton, Winnipeg or London, ON or Kitchener-Waterloo? Maybe even like Ottawa, Hamilton or Calgary? (but warmer than all of the above).

I get all the points you guys are making, but I think most people when they visit the states go to the worst representations of us. Yeah LA and NY are cool big cities you see in movies and shit but they’ve been cesspools for a long time. I think people would find places they like by visiting the states and cities people don’t really talk about. That said Canada is probably the only other country I’d live in, I enjoy driving and the lifestyle I have, I don’t think I could have it anywhere else honestly.

I think part of the reason America is regionally segregated is because of the history of segregation. It's definitely not as bad but I'd be stupid to say that if this was a white neighborhood for 100 years that it would dramatically change over the next few generations even though there's now permission to be there. I think in time America will become more mixed like they were describing Canada. I could also see Canada as being an exception to the rule, the European and middle eastern countries I've been to seem to have their segregated neighborhoods in a similar way to America.

I was living in Canada for 20 yerz finally Canada justice ? my family in to part's family court break d my family. Finally got to this Left Canada for ever.now iam in Dubai and very happy Life. Don't get me wrong, Canada is a beautiful country but be careful of wearing rose coloured glasses and thinking the grass is greener. It seems the real reason is to use it as a stepping stone to work in the US. Whatever you do, I wish you luck! btw my partner has worked FIFO all around Australia from Tasmania in the mining and construction industry for around 20 years. Not for everyone, but we get to live on a beautiful island, have our own farm, get heaps of frequent flyer points so get free overseas trips. We've made it work for us. Our Canadian friends said they'd move to Tasmania in a heartbeat if they could!

Wow reading many of the comments makes me think 'yikes'. Too many people see immigrants as creating a bigger problem (and cannot see how they are the solution). I'm reading the exact argument that was made all through out Canada's history, yet it is the immigrants that brought in fresh ideas and foreign investment. And Canada has been a shining success because of our immigrants. You'd think that people would realize this by now.

Jesus, imagine paying many times more on tuition to come learn post secondary education from some no-name sub-par school in Toronto only to battle with many others for a low wage entry level job. What a scam! It's tough enough for born and raised young Canadians to survive on their own in Toronto. You'd have to pay me at least a quarter million Canadian pesos to make me even think about going back to the GTA from the good life I have now in the US south.

So I think Canada is ranked 3rd best in the world to live in (I might be wrong but it's top 5 for sure). While Canada does have issues (like any other country in the world) What you outline highlights the privileged life you are living. You are correct in pointing out that the health care system is flawed, it is not perfect by all means but AT LEAST YOU ARE GETTING HEALTH CARE. Take the stats for example (I had the privilege of going to the hospital in Texas) My bill came to 3000 for a twisted ankle. They charged me over 500 dollars just for walking into the hospital. I'm not knocking that stats, but if you do not have money, you're fucked for health care. Instead of waiting 8 hours to see a doctor, you're now on Web MD trying to diagnose yourself. You are bitching about high taxes, how do you think Schools, Police and fire services, Emergency service hospitals etc etc etc get paid? through wishes and hope? You are again welcome to go anywhere else and enjoy whatever bs they have going they might have low taxes in other parts of the world but your going to have to pay for certain services you are taking for granted here. As Cost of living, if you live in Toronto or BC yes the cost of living is high, but at the same time, the average household income is high as well. I'm sorry minimum wage in most of Canada is roughly 15 dollars an hour, and the average incoming for most provinces is over 100k. I'm not sure what else to say on that subject :D As for things to do, seriously, stop living under a rock. Please go and travel Canada, to name a few things you can travel to Niagara, Go to Banff, Visit hot springs or enjoy any of our national parks. Not to mention all the multicultural festivals that take place. I guess what I'm trying to say here is, Canada is flawed and has its issues. However, It's a beautiful country and is a gem of a place to put roots down. I'm sorry you guys didn't feel that way.

Taxes are good. You or your parents probably left from a country because of the problems caused by low taxation/misuse of public funds. Taxes are good. Great points though. Canada has a lot of problems buy the good easily outweighs the negatives. I love and miss Nigeria but I don't think as an atheist, left leaning creative I'd ever be able to go back. A lot of the points you made were true, but not exclusively Canadian problems, they’re western problems. I dated someone who lived in the US, and travelled back and forth. I also used to work for a major American health insurance company. It’s a nightmare. The cost of premiums alone. I totally agree about the cost of living here... but I think the rest of your points lacked research and any solid supporting arguments. It’s boring? Why? Where are you living? Because I’ve lived in Montreal, Toronto, now I live in a smaller town and I can find you’d something fun to do every day. I think if you’re bored you’re boring. And my entire family and my husband are Caribbean immigrants... I found this video pretty ignorant.

And if you really want a little Canadian treat go visit a serious British Columbia it has all four ecosystems in it I think it's the only place in Canada that has that at least it did when we used to stop there for lunch on our way to Vancouver maybe with climate change and everything that's gone too who knows but yeah the healthcare sucks I worked in the field got out of that field and now I'm very sick and need help and guess what no doctor I have no doctor and no doctor will listen so you guys are absolutely right if I had a way and the means and the money I'd be gone

I don't think at the moment I'd live anywhere else. Every single country in the world has something to gripe about.

Bad things about Saskatchewan:\n-A LOT of snow, A LOT\n- negative 30c is the norm in winter, summer usually plus 25c (It's COLD)\n-housing prices aren't as cheap as the video says... sure you can buy a place for $280,000 :) ...an apartment. \nA new family house made in 2012 costs $550,000, an old one made in 1980 costs $330,000.\n- Not a lot of bang for your buck. Yes, there are jobs in the major cities but the pay isn't so great unless you are a nurse or work in health care. (Best province for upcoming nurses btw) Minimum wage for the win! \n-As I said previously, minimum wage for the win! There are jobs but you don't get paid enough to live without a roommate or almost be constantly broke.\n-Rent is okay. If you DO manage to get a decent paying job, like a teacher, plumber, doctor, etc, rent is cheap.\n-Expensive retirement. Thinking the healthcare is great for seniors? It is. But, get ready to give every last penny to your senior home. A neighbour got a quote from a local seniors home for him and his wife, $65,000 per year (MINIMUM) for the 2 of them. That's how much the old folks home costed.\n-You need a car. If you want to visit outside the major cities, you need a car. In the cities you can survive traffick by bus, but it is better with a car.\n-You can't see northern lights a lot. Not from the cities. You have to go north, north, north, out in the middle of nowhere.\n\nGood things about Saskatchewan: \n-No cougars. Bears and wolves live here, mainly in the north.\n-People are friendly. There isn't as much crime in the 2 major cities, Prince Albert does have a lot though just like the video said, so I'd steer clear of that place.\n-Great education. Good place to raise a family.\n-Great healthcare. Has most covered in universal healthcare I think out of every province. Seniors like to move to Saskatchewan for retirement. It's a great place to retire if you have the money to move.\n-Lots of local stuff to see. A lot of local shops, parks, camp grounds, etc.\n-Rent is cheap. It's cheaper than Vancouver or Toronto.\n-Food prices are alright. Not good, not bad, just okay. Even a poor single mother can buy some food I think.\n-Lots of land. There is lots of flat land here. I think you got the order all mixed up but me being from east coast and all these provinces ranking so low I wanna argue it but won't as I'm content with eastern Canada being left amazing I currently live in Ontario it's wonderful up north southern Ontario is crowded and costly bc is amazing and as stated costly except a cpl spots where it's really bad price wise or crime etc but really Quebec is ranked #1 lol good joke it's a beautiful place and some great ppl but so many ignorant french ppl turn me big time if I lived there I'd learn to speak french but they're rude to English but it's their language too otherwise it is great there but lang barrier for anything at worst random times I'd pass on

There is always something dull, bland and general lack of vibrancy in these American streets videos. I am an introvert but I prefer some little noise and bright weather?,, I don't think the US is a place I'd want to live unless its for work purposes.

Why do people not do their research before they leave their country? If someone is smart enough to be a doctor in their country of origin, you'd think they'd be smart enough to research what Canada's prerequisites are, and make sure they're taking those steps. Being a nurse in one country is equivalent to being a lab tech in Canada. So as a patient, I don't want a lab tech taking care of my loved ones in hospital.

I'm Canadian and think the biggest issue is a lack of infrastructure. Even in a lot of major cities, things you'd expect to see like subway stations, corner markets, or arcades are uncommon. It's hard to find a job when there aren't many places to work, and it's hard to afford things when it's difficult or expensive to ship those things from place to place. Immigration could boost our population so we can better tackle these issues, but our system forces immigrants to start from scratch. That doesn't provide immigrants with much reason to choose Canada instead of the Netherlands, the USA, Singapore, or some other country.

Not that it matters I'd not care what Provence I'd live in or territories! We as Canadians live in the best country in the world !!! When you put labels on our countries provinces or territories do shut up ! I've lived in most if not all of them . They ALL have something to offer ! Yeah fuck this list, putting backwards Alberta and Quebec at the top while putting Manitoba at the bottom. Gee why the fuck does Winnipeg alone out populate most of the entire province's ranked above it? You'd think of it's such a terrible place to live nobody would be stay. But it's actually I've of the most progressive and diverse places in Canada where as the video admits you can actually find a job too. Fuck this shit, while jobless Atlantic Canada gets an the credit Manitoba actually has the jobs and culture for real and is just coolest, but wait we have plenty of energy and construction to deal with that problem. Manitoba is still one of the greatest places in the world to live and this list fucking bellies that fact.

I like how y’all have created this video by not applying a negative undertone rather more of an informative approach to caution prospective movers of what potentially awaits them. All I would like to highlight is the fact that some people will experience all these points as negative aspects or maybe even one or two that might lead to the breaking point.\nIt all depends on where you come from and how life was in your “home” country.\nYou might come from a higher tax environment with non existent healthcare and education. From that perspective, 40% taxes might look better and the healthcare might be great or crap depending on what your health issues are. I personally haven’t had any struggles with most of these aspects - finding a great job was relatively easier, (key word - relatively) the healthcare system worked for me when I needed it to, I was mentally prepared for the high taxes, I culturally adapted to the point where people thought I was Canadian and didn’t realize I came in from a very different environment. I’m sure this cultural adaptation helped me with my job and made it easier to live here.\nAll in all, you can say I’ve had the “perfect” immigrant experience that most people would dream of. But what do i think really? Personally, I have come to realize that Canada at the moment does not fit into my personal goals and values and that is okay. Loneliness away from people you love can be tough. It just isn’t the same feeling making new friends and hanging out with coworkers who are much older than you are and in a different place in life. I’m very close to my family and friends who I’ve grown up with and are on the other side of the world. My parents are getting older and I want to spend as much time with them as possible. For that reason, I might consider being somewhere closer to them. I’d perhaps consider coming back here some day when I’ve got my own family and kids which I currently don’t have. To me, that’s a personal value high on the list. I guess my only takeaway from this video and advise to people looking at each of these points - take each one and compare it with your home country. If you think you’re better off in Canada, then move - it’s a great place! If not, think about it real hard and weigh out the pros and cons.

You didn't scare me with taxes and semi free healthcare :D Ok, you pay taxes, but you can see where they go. And I also can't think of a country where you get dental care, eye care and medicines for free. In my country in everage we pay 30% income taxes, plus vehicle and property taxes all this having monthly income below 1000 euros. And I honestly don't understand where all this money goes. Roads are shitty and healthcare is not free either.

This whole “micro aggression” nonsense is what completely makes people not take racism seriously and as a real issue. I for one am not saying I’m one of those people but I’m just making an observation. Because along with real problems of people literally hating a certain group and thinking they’re above them just because their skin is a different color than them, we lump somebody touching your hair?? Sounds more like she just wasn’t comfortable with somebody doing that, and most people would probably say that they’d be uncomfortable with something like that, regardless of their ethnicity. I hate when racism gets thrown around because people are insecure and think everything bad or unwarranted that happens to them from a white person is rooted in racism. It’s seems like “it’s racism cuz I decided it was”. Some people are just assholes, or weirdos, and need to be put in their place and labeling EVERYTHING as racism really causes a lot of people to not take things seriously when it IS present.

The only time I'd racial profile is if I'm on a plane and a guy in a turbin walks on in a long robe and I think that's pretty justified.

I don't think Canada ever lied. Unlike the USA Canada does not play around. We welcome legal immigrants and bona fide refugees. Unfortunately there is a lot of greyness in what it means to be a bona fide refugee. Perhaps too many people think it means one thing. \n.\nMy heart goes out to all these foreigners wanting to make a life here in Canada - after all I am one of them. The ONLY difference between the guy in the video and me is that I was lucky to have an opportunity to get a degree'd education and was accepted into Canada.

Think about why only certain races face racism. Then you'd know how to stop it.

when i was looking at college back in the late '70's, i was seriously thinking of crossing the st lawrence and save a bundle by attending mcgill. drexel won me over with their co-op program but i still think i'd would had been better off going to montreal instead.

?? Im from Ontario Canada and have always worked management in retail. I've always taught any employees in any department that if you see anyone lingering for any longer than 5 minutes, black, white, or any race for that matter to ask if they need assistance! Again I don't care the color, race, most people that come into a store have come in and know what they're looking for! When I see a customer looking for longer than 5 mins, it's just common practise to ask if you need help. I'd suggest you's re-think this practise that we all are taught in stores

NOT let my son get my medicine and it's hard for me to walk around and I called him up and ask why \nand then I did get my medicine and I never did have no more trouble out them after my doctor ball to out they against my son but people listen at this we're not African American where are we we are not I seen the kind of thing two we was up to the courthouse and these police officers was looking at me and laughing I'm an overweight woman and overweight people gets treated bad we get laughed at we get made fun of and every way I got jerked around at the courthouse in Anderson they really treated me horribly and I think it was because I was overweight and they was very rude and nasty to every customer to come in and I don't know why to me it always pointed out and all I'll be pointed out so it's not only African Americans but it's people like myself that has a weight problem I I am A obesity white woman
