Some of the stats cited here are straight up wrong or... creatively employed, and there's a lot of contradictory information and the typical conservative 'the sky is falling' sensationalism and misattribution. That said, the bas supposition isn't wrong. The bubble we've been sitting on for 20 or so years has completely burst. As someone born and raised in the Toronto area, it's impossible for me to afford to own a house or apartment here on a teacher's salary. Even rent pushes me to the limit unless I want to live in a... less than nice area. I'm living hand to mouth and enjoying the benefits of living in a 'developed' country less. Here's why:\n\n1. Wages aren't really even close to keeping up with the cost of living. The first tick upwards a bit. The second just keeps rising on the back of housing, food, amenities, and inflation: the four horsemen.\n\n2. Our grocery cabal ruthlessly raise prices whenever we look away, and their lobbyists are all ensconced within the leadership of our three major parties, particularly the Conservatives (so if anyone thinks that electing them will help, they're in for a nasty surprise).\n\n3. We're experiencing 'labour shrinkflation': increasing duties are downloaded onto workers and more is expected: more productivity, more availability (almost 24/7 in some jobs), and higher qualifications. Meanwhile, real wages are decreasing relative to living cost, more positions are 'contract', which is basically a way for employers to not have to give you benefits, and job security is tenuous for a lot of people.\n\n4. Houses are being bought by investors and not owners. Foreign entities are money laundering. The wealthy upper crust of high population countries are moving here and buying property because Canada is (still) more safe and stable and less repressive than their home countries in most cases. \n\n5. There's a cycle beginning: as people are squeezed and forced to spend more on 'needs', they spend less on eating out, entertainment, and other 'wants'. These are significant drivers of the service economy and they're being hit hard. So, what can they do? They can let go of workers or lower product costs to remain profitable, but they their quality declines and, in a market where people are pinching every penny and looking for quality for their dollar, they're less likely to go back. They can raise their prices, of course, but then they price people out completely and their profits still tank. I went to a decent steakhouse for my dad's 60th last week. I can't remember the last time that I went to one before that. \n\n6. Our politicians and news cycles focus on the most niche and irrelevant stuff because it'll stoke anger and get tongues wagging. This carbon thing is almost a non-issue, but our conservative leader is harping on about it like it's singlehandedly the death of the Canadian economy when it's a drop in the bucket. Trudeau focuses on 'equity' measures, hoping for a bit of cheap good press, while his efforts are, for the most part, just window dressing and the issues, while meaningful, are often not of paramount importance or even applicable to the vast majority of the people who elected him. Meanwhile, the middle class is pretty much evaporating as he speaks. The NDP keep talking about this in a pretty real way, for what it's worth, but Jagmeet Singh is giving off an increasing vibe of just being another fat cat politician beneath his rhetoric these days. Also, third-party trolls and screeching conservatives try to bury him on social media whenever he speaks... a lot more than other leaders as well, oddly. I wonder why? Oh yeah, the Greens exist and there's Quebec and the conspiracy theory party.\n\n\nUltimately, what we're experiencing is the revenge of the feudal system. Instead of paying rents to your lord and doing labour on the land for him whenever commanded to, you pay rent to your landlord now and go to work even when you're sick or when work hours are over because you have no union protection or are working 'on contract'. Unless we want to live in the armpit of nowhere, 95% of us are going to be wage slaves living hand-to-mouth, not owning our own property, and working to please our corporate overlords if current trends continue unchecked. While some of Canada's problems are unique, I fear that most aren't. As for me, I'm headed to the 'armpit of nowhere' where I can at least have a ghost of a chance of affording life.

The country has declined unbelievably since the Liberal Government has taken over in 2015. The problem now is that the country is so far in the gutter, if a new party was to take over in the next election, it will be nearly impossible to resurrect the country to what it was pre 2015.

I live in Russia. The average salary in big cities is (CAD) 9K..11K, that is, 18K..22K per family. (Basically, this amount goes to renting housing, paying utility bills, food, communications, and travel.) In ten years, you could save up for an apartment, but all savings are eaten up by inflation, on average 10% per year. In most regions, average salaries are half that. You won’t find a one-room apartment in a big city for less than 70K. That is, it is basically impossible to save up for an apartment. And you cry that things are bad in Canada?!

Not only is it it impossible to live here, there are no resources unless the government gets something from it. As an indigenous child who grew up in foster care my whole life, there was no indigenous foster care homes for me to go to and therefore my culture has become traumatic for me. My OWN culture has major trauma related to it and my foster care agency would NOT help me unless I moved to the reservation after I aged out the THEIR system, which was not applicable because they were the ones who traumatized me. When I turned 19, I was expected to have it all figured out, I was not allowed to remain in my foster home afterwards without massive paper work and thank god my foster mom cared about me because without her, I would be on the streets with nothing but a garbage full of clothes. I moved out on my own with the help of that family and my agency said they would help with things if I asked. As of the economy now, I did ask them. I asked them for any help at all and my social worker LITERALLY ghosted me and stood me up, even at my plea for help. You would think this is just my case but there are hundreds of cases like mine with even worse endings and what Canada has done with this information is nothing. Foster Care in Canada for indigenous youth is the 2000’s way of Residential Schools and I am EXTREMELY lucky to NOT be homeless and dead. Many of my friends in similar situations are dead or homeless and I have no hope for Canada, it’s an extremely depressing reality.

Yup. As a Canadian citizen with Chinese background who is now moving permanently to the US, I testify. I’m not settling for the cold characterless mediocrity that is Canada. It just doesn’t sit well with me. The US has its problems but I’d rather deal with a nation with problems than a nation with no spirit or character. \n\nBest example is racism. The Canadians aren’t any less racist but they’ll stay quiet. I’d rather deal with the Americans who straight up call me chink and hate crime me, because it’s impossible to make change happen when there’s no spark, no action, no acknowledgement or honesty.

As an Australian. It's as bad here. Trying to buy a house is almost impossible without help. Also, the rental crisis in our big cities is absolutely terrible.

amazing video, but i would recommend doing research on the job search of young and overqualified canadians. it is currently impossible to find a minimum wage job due to the over saturation of the population. as a 17 year old with good grades and work experience, i cannot find a job after applying to ~60 places in person, and neither can my friends. however, this video does make me feel seen as an unsatisfied canadian :)

Born and raised in Canada. The rising cost of living is just depressing and I’ve basically given up on starting a family because of it here in Vancouver. I know that in order to move out of my parents house, I’d have to get a full time job, eat instant noodles only, and have at least five roommates in order to continue living here. Minimum wage in BC is $16/hr changing to $17/hr but living wage is at least $26/hr last I checked. It’s so sad because I love it here but it seems just seems impossible to be hopeful .

the trouble with immigration policy in canada is that it is no longer tied with the economic need but has become rooted in an idea that immigration is something that is always progressive and desirable. Hence, the more the better, has been the guiding principle for years. any discussion of the merits of liberal immigration policy was discouraged and any questioning of an ever growing number of newcomers was portrayed as racist. bad actors in the form of unscrupulous businesses capitalized on this attitude and started importing ever larger number of temporary foreign workers which depressed wages and incomes. To the mix were added international students who came into the country in their hundreds of thousands in search of work and eventual permanent residence rather than education. critical mass was reached in 2022 and was further exacerbated in 2023. things got so completely out of control that even LPC - the champions of large scale immigration, had to implement some half-baked and half-hearted measures to stem the flow. where this will end up is anybody's guess but once the floodgates are open, they are virtually impossible to close. i am sure we will be dealing with the consequences of imprudent immigration policies for years if not decades to come.

Now you are in a position to call something your home and we all know what all your ancestors did regardless of how good you are right now. The least you can do is not comment such provocatively online against other ethnicities or is this atrocity still there in your blood. It's very simple. If i compare Today's Canada with my home country Greece during crisis period(2010-2017), the wages in my country was, and still is crap but the good thing was the extremely cheap housing due to a housing crash. That helped me buy two properties. Now it's almost impossible to be a first time buyer. Now also, especially after covid, the energy cost, food cost, made even people like me who are owners struggling to cover daily costs(living in my own property and renting out the other + working overtime). I decided to move to Copenhagen, but i quickly realised that it's not much better, and i couldn't use my qualifications. Now i'm working double the average person here to be able to afford to buy a sh*tbox in a smaller city, and i cannot sell any property back home bc i will pay a huge capital gain tax as a Danish tax resident. My rental income from Greece can't help to get bigger mortgage in Denmark, but i think my income is enough for anywhere outside Cph. ...i don't want to imagine how Canadian cities, London, Australian cities are for the average renter/1st time buyer!

I really hate to say, but I'm glad that I made it out of my country because of the economy crisis.\n\nI'm currently living in Mexico now for a new life. I'm happy about it, but I do really miss my old routines that I do back in Montreal...\n\nIdeally I do want to go back to work 9 to 5 job while looking for my professional career as a video editor and videography... Therefore, those few words, indisputably designate that this assault was premeditated: and, therefore an act of terrorism. Yet, in spite of him saying these words, the usual suspects have emerged in the past few days downplaying affairs. Some of them (all Muslims) are querying how authorities had been so quick, and eager to call this an act of terrorism.\n \nNeedless to say, it’s an absolute certainty that in the coming weeks that the ‘system’ will surreptitiously maneuver, and manipulate circumstances to cast this goon as being a mere aberration within Australia’s Islamic community. Rather, than him being reflective of a significant component of the Muslims here. To garner the reality that there’s no shortage of Muslims in Australia whose prime allegiance is to Islam, merely requires perusing photos, and video clips appearing in media coverages depicting Muslims congregating outside Mosques. What this all amounts to is to prove there are no shortage of Muslims here in Australia (and, indeed, Britain, France, and Belgium/Holland, or Canada, and the US), who consider themselves answerable to the teachings of the Quran, before the society they’re in. \nIn the near future, we will be constantly bombarded with the line that this 16-year-old terrorist is not representative of Muslims, which of course is correct. However, the most ominous concern is that, there needs only to be a couple of hundred fundamentalist Muslims in the country who hold extreme views to wreak havoc. \n \nTragically, mass intakes of people from a bevy of non-Anglo/European cradles over the past 30-35 years has radically transmogrified Australia’s two largest metropolises of Sydney, and Melbourne. So much so that, within the short space of a bit more than three decades (1990), Anglo/Europeans have been reduced from being 94 percent of these cities’ populations, to now becoming the ‘collective’ minorities: at around 47 percent. \nTo ascertain this glaring reality, merely requires travelling on any train, at any part of the day that runs through the corridor of 20 stations between Burwood/Strathfield, Granville and down to Liverpool. By doing so, you will quickly realise that people of non-Anglo/European extractions will account for at least, 80 percent of all those people you will observe, either standing on platforms or travelling in carriages. \n \nFor the record, of the 400,000 net-increase of Sydney’s population in the decade up until February 2024, 280,000 of them have been immigrants (either permanent or temporary) who are sourced from non-AE, and non-Christian societies. But what’s strikingly apparent about any of the main business districts of places which have an array of different ethnocultural entities traversing the streets (such as Bankstown), is with how none of them interact with each other: let alone do they have a connection to Australia. \nAs of Saturday morning on April 20, less than 290 hours after the attack at Wakley, there have been many media stories analysing how this heinous event could have come to fruition. All of which is due to the insanity of successive governments from the late 1980s, rapidly drawing in millions of culturally unassimilable immigrants from a large array of non-AE ethnicities? The culmination of this madness has ultimately destroyed the host’s culture. And, moreover, with these immigrants forming culturally-insular enclaves/colonies.\n \nSo, it now comes to pass all these years after Enoch Powell, and Jean Raspail, warned us of would eventuate with dismantling borders, concludes with scores of acts of vile terrorism from 2004, being perpetrated by rabid Islamic fundamentalists. But, in spite of it being patently obvious to any halfwit that, mass-non-discriminatory immigration programs have destroyed the cultures of the host-societies, politicians in Britain, Canada, NZ, and of course, Australia, are totally committed to perpetuating large scale immigration intakes.

i am in a college in a small town in Ontario and in my class we have 54 students and only 4 not including me are local students and the rest basically 90% are indian and the rest nepali from Philippines and some African countries and i moved here from usa with my family in 2015 and even up till 2019 canada was livable and now its not its impossible my plan is when i graduate i will move back to usa or some cheap country like Mexico Thailand and work remotely i am not against immigration but the path this country is going in accepting crazy amounts of student visa is wild also i feel some what bad for some of these students they get sold on a lie being canada is affordable they can find job easily and live comfortable but at the same time these students should do their research and its nothing but a infinite money maker for collages but at the same time they are kind of forced to do so to make money cause here in Ontario ford cut budgets for collages

I understand. I'm going back to Europe after 17 years!! I'm a certified teacher with a brilliant teaching career in Europe and I cannot teach here. Everything is so expensive and I cannot make it anymore. I agree, it's just very sad, it's our life, our dream. I came to Canada with a lot of love and with the willingness to give all my heart, potential, abilities and skills. I cannot make it anymore...my soul and heart are slowly dying. I'm 55, I cannot end my life working two or more jobs and moving every two to four years because landlords keep kicking out of the house old tenants because they raise the rents. Over $3000 a month. Who can afford that? I'm a single mom. Buying a house is impossible as well...\nSo I'm going back to my country. I'm packing my 17 years of life in a few suitcases in one hand, and my son on the other hand. My heart feels heavy and abundant tears are falling off my eyes, but I'm sure that we are going toward a brighter future and surrounded with the love of family and friends.

As an indian in dont really dislike Brampton. Its just the leftist policies that ruined it. A lot of immigration isnt really legal either. The govt aint enforcing immigration law so its more or less allowed. Kinda like how usa has an open border policy with mexico. Legal immigration is next to impossible while illegal immigration is prioritized. There are far too many people getting visitor visas and never leaving thats a slap in the face of the poor working class. Or even legal immigrants that took the time money and had the qualifications to come here and did it legally.

Multi cultural is an oxymoron (impossible to exist)… multi = many and culture = one shared system. The word was made up to attract immigration under false pretences. Canada is a multi ethnic country but should never allow pressure from outside to take away its best values - Canadian Values. When you enter someones home you follow their rules. The problem was the leader of this house was weak and couldn’t take care of the house. Take care of the best in your house, don’t forsake the best of human stewardship and stand for your best… Canadians will lend a hand if your knee weakens.

In my city (Windsor, Ontario) we have a college and university that have literally set up “recruitment” centres IN INDIA. I don’t blame the foreigners for coming here, they do it legally and honestly a bunch that I have talked to are struggling themselves.. I’m talking like, 12 guys to a small shared living space (which also negatively effects rent prices.. especially where I live) They expect to come here for a better life but they’re just thrown in the mix with those of us who are already drowning. \n\nThe government just stopped caring about its citizens and it’s really scary. They take the immigrants money and our taxes and they’re content.\nA friend was asked to leave a job fair because it was over capacity.. getting even a minimum wage job is damn near impossible now. \n\nAlso, question, I heard the reason that all minimum wage jobs (fast food restaurants, Walmart etc.) are only hiring Indians is because the government reimburses the employer half of their wage. I tried to do some research on this but couldn’t find anything.. is this true and being kept hush-hush? If it is, we need more people to speak out on this.

Canada has gone to hell in a hand basket it used to be great years ago now it's becoming garbage. You use to be able to find a decent affordable place to live now it's getting difficult if not impossible to find a place to live. We have these. people trying to control what normal people are allowed to call or refer to them as and trying to control free speech and free will. Now the idiot government mainly trudeau is trying to stop Free speech and thought with the idiot bill or whatever ever it is so people can be arrested for what they say and possibly what they think, the person or persons that said it's 1984 is right . The George Orwell story that controlled every ones thoughts and doings. I think every normal person in canada should leave and make a new Canada somewhere else.

I studied in the US as a foreign student on an F-1 visa and we weren’t allowed to work, unless it was an on campus job (which were few and far between) or unless we used our OPT which is like internships etc. That was also like an impossible feat because, well…sponsorship…long story, if you know you know. So the entitlement of these students complaining about jobs just totally boggles my mind. Like, the audacity..

I was born and raise in Canada… Trudeau have destroy Canada in the last 8 years and have create so much new debts that it will take multiple generation just to bring back economy to a normal state… Massive immigration have create a big stress to a already fragile system… House and rent cost have explode and inflation too!!! Wrong not 500 000 immigrants its closer to 1.5 million when you include temporary workers in just a year. For a country with 40 million people that is a huge increase. I've lived here my whole life! I've never liked it, and it's only got worse. When I went to Japan I was treated with more kindness, and respect more than Canada! I'm a recording artist, and there are no opportunities to succeed where as America and Japan have more potential for the music industry where as Canada is dead when it comes to the music business! Add in the fact my main source of income is disability from traumatic abuse. It's next to impossible to live, and manage any financial situation here unless you rich already!

I think the number one reason is that enjoying life in Canada takes too much money, it's almost impossible most of the year because of the weather and Canadian culture really does not exist.

Displaced Canadians need help but those in power see them as useless. The government needs to step up. Working poor are middle class are at risk too. We need more housing. We need more support services. For those who want to change its impossible, it takes 2 years to get off drugs with tons of support, longer or impossible to get off the streets. How can you get a job or a home when you look distressed.

I love how the security guards were all brand new immigrants too ? In brampton there was a line up at a restaurant 1000 people long for ONE job posting. \n\nIts impossible to live here. And the government thinks its OK because aggregate market prives for apartments are 'acceptable'at 2300/month for a single bedroom. The problem is that 60% or mortgage come due this year, we have 2 million immigrants who are underhoused, and all these people are looking for multi bedroom units which have tripled in price since 2019\n\nEdit: before anyone takes this the wrong way, this is not the fault of the people coming here for a better life, it's a federal/provincial government problem for scamming 100s or thousands of people out of a life here.

Unfortunately this is happening all accross ontario. Shelters all full, housing is a 15 year wait. Income isnt enough to survive. Everyone is in debt. Ontario is impossible to survive in.

The video is informational and direct much appreciated, I disagree with this reason why Canadians invest in homes vs businesses, how does one prove that statistic? It is impossible to gain a correct statistical data as ones state of consciousness will never show the true reality of the data, Many Canadians want to open their own business and they have also recognized market opportunities its rather due to few cognitive barriers. Possibly the support programs to open one.

Canada cannot make its own money. So what does it do? It has to figure out unethical ways to bring in money. This is done by bringing in immigrants. There is multiple birds with one Stone hit here. Meaning gives immigrants the lie of a better life. So they take all their money that they have in their nation. And they bring it here. That's free money that Canada did not have to work for and now other nations have lost. then they lied to them and tell them that they can get anything they want. For me to get a franchise here while owning other businesses was IMPOSSIBLE 5 yrs ago. But these guys with no credentials are getting it right away. I wasn't allowed to modify my house or rent by law. And they are now allowing all of that. My mother had an international driver's license from France and she had to go through hoops to get her licence here. They are handing things over with no screening to these people which is cause instability and chaos. No structure. They let them bring their huge money here and put into franchises with no credentials. Bank loans free approval no questions asked. Meanwhile, most of those franchises will never make any money. Then they will take that money also, and put it into homes. Rent etc, and this is the part where they basically drain the immigrant money in an instant and put it into Canada economy. Now that you have all these immigrants buying all these businesses. Now you need slave work, so you start Bringing it more immigrants to work those slave jobs. Because in the 1990s, all the way up to 2010. You were encouraging Education. During that time Education was the money Maker. So you kept pushing that. Billions went to universities. Telling people that they'll have a better future. That was the lie of that time. Now you want the same people to work min wage jobs. Now immigration is a bigger Money maker. They say they're bringing in these guys Because they want to work these jobs that a canadians don't want to work. That's because you just made those fake jobs by creating more immigrants to come here have franchises that need minimum wage jobs. But you also promised the rest of us that if we worked hard enough, we will get better jobs. So why would we want to resort to minimum wage jobs on top of you ruining the market for housing inflation taxes etc? How could we even afford while working Minimum wage jobs. And that's why they're bringing people in here. This goes deeper than it seems. socialism. then they get mad At us and demand more taxes and more money. But Canada is a closed system. So how can we afford giving you more than we're making? This insanity has to stop. This chaos needs to stop.

Mental Illness is also a problem. So hard to determine and next to impossible to manage because of bleeding hearts who have worked hard to get rid of 'institutions' and human rights; a whole other topic.
