its funny the cbc disables the comments section on all their videos that white conservatives are likely to respond negatively to. but when its the reverse , boom. ill tell you a little story about racism . 35 yrs. ago i worked demolition and one day i notice these new guys just standing around. a couple of other guys come over to me and point out that those three guys just standing around would be fired at the end of the day, when i asked why they told me it was because they werent doing any work becuase no one would show then what to do becuase they were black they used different words. so i went over to these three guys and told them if they didnt work they would be fired at the end of the day. they said no one would show them which i thought was pretty lame since the job was to pick up the demolition garbage and pill it like every one else, so i showd them and save their jobs.

I have myself experienced racial discrimination many times of last 12 yrs that I have been in Toronto CA and I am from India, especially in the neighbourhood Walmart they thought I am a thief or so...it really awkward experience every time, even in random stores I have visited I have noticed same person or two of them passing around many a time and if I wanted to go slow on shopping believe me there will be really a panic in the store. I have experienced this innumerable times in WALMART SUPERCENTER in my neighbouhood and other places also. So this is very true that my name and colour of my face matters.

I thought America stretch always to Brazil how are these people foreign to these lands. why is it that we have some sector of our populations teaching these lies. HOPE PEOPLE START REALIZING WHATS WHAT. LOVE TO ALL GET KNOWLEDGE THEN KNOWING AND DOING. NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO TELL U WHO U ARE U WILL KNOW. BECOME MORE SOVEREIGN IN ONES SELF AND COSMOS. STRIVE TO BE A BETTER BEING.

growing up in canada, i felt left out in the blk community b/c i am a 5th generation blk cdn on mom's side and 3rd on my dad's - when other black ppl not canadian born met me - i tell them i'm cdn, but i always used to get the question - where are you really from - they were looking for me to say the islands - when i told them my paternal grandma was born in 1901 in canada - that's when the questions stopped. i've been told that b/c i wasn't from the islands, i had no culture in college, but a mbr of the black student society put him in his place i heard he got into a lot of trouble. i was asked what do we eat as in food as canadians what kind of music do we listen to - at our blk canadian weddings, the only carribean song played was hot hot hot by arrow - we played straight up r and b and motown. i hv been rejected by other blk men b/c i'm not west indian enough...it was hurtful. even with 'friends' they made of my cdn heritage but i used to think, why are you making fun of me knowing that my family and ancestors were in canada first - they were 1st generation - i live in the usa now and i'm with an african american man - he has never treated me as if i were different and he loves going w/me to canada. my parents told me it was jealousy on those ppl's parts - one guy i used to be friends with in college, when i went to his house, his mom was from the islands, when she met me - she said, 'you cdn ppl are loud' and that did it for me - i didn't date her son but when he met my parents, they never said any of that crap to him. in the usa, the african americans don't treat differently at all - my ex mom in law thought we were american but decided to live in canada - b/c she was surprised that blacks do live in canada. her other daughter in law's family were from the islands - but she gravitated more to my family and felt comfortable around them more than her family and this ex sis in law would brag about the islands this and that and she would make comments about my looks being skinny and such but it was jealousy - i didn't care much for her b/c she was very insecure. i felt once again, i was a young girl in college again - being around island ppl....i would love to meet drake and ask him did he feel left out and isolated because he wasn't from the islands - he makes me very proud being a blk canadian - his dad is african american and his mom is jewish. i still hv dealt w/racism not much with wht ppl, but with my own ppl - which is quite sad and on top of it-colorism, that also played a part from my family - being called pygmy, chocolate dip, nappy hair - it hurt but these so called relatives, they aren't all that anymore, they had hard lives as children...when ppl see something in you that is special and they don't have, that's when their ugliness shows -

Here's an idea!! Why not apply to enter a better country through the standardized legal channels like millions of other immigrants??? Obey the laws of the country you wish to enter, live, work in and be a part of? Who would have ever thought of that?? HBO is run by idiots and ruled by group think. HBO is a joke

Lmao ya'll thought you were slick. Canada is actually stricter on border security and what not.

I have this thought that maybe if you spoke with a german accent and wore ledderhosen in canada in 1942 you may have had the same feelings.
2018-02-02 0
I thought you get your money back if your lawyer loses the case.
2018-02-01 0
As a Canadian I will say, stop coming here. And of course you didn't expect this. You thought you could just come here and get whatever you want handed to you.

For me, as a black person ive been told I should wear braids or dreadlocks whenever my hair is chemically straight. When I wear my hair naturally-winter season-I get a ton of compliments. I've also been followed by cops thinking I was an illegal Mexican immigrant because I'm really light skinned. I even had a customer speak Spanish to me a few weeks ago when he thought I was Mexican.

If I own a store, you goddamn betcha I'll be racially profiling. My life experiences tell me to do that. I wouldn't tell anyone but nobody can control what I think. If our thoughts were broadcast, there'd be a lot more racists than most people are willing to admit.

Since I was a kid I hated my brown tan sun kissed skin...i wanted to have snow pale white skin i always thought it was beautiful...i still do..at times i still hate my skin colour but slowly trying to accept that I am beautiful the way I am.
2017-10-21 0
0:50 Wow, Canadians are just like us americans. I never would have thought.
2017-10-21 0
As a kid I wasn't allows to wear a hat in class. I thought it was my freedom to do so.

I have some prejudice about certain people and topics and I stereotype of course. It's an automatic thing for humans to do. We immediately assess everything and anyone around us. That's normal. Now, what isn't normal is going out of your way to violate the rights of any human being or to harass them in any manner. Obviously we can't help what we think and what is in our heads but we can control whether or not we act on these things. Fortunately most of us do not act on our thoughts, but some people do.

Now I get it...When I am looking around at things to shop, one of the store staff is constantly with me, whichever way I move. I always thought they just want to be there to help. I can't shop longer with someone constantly watching me browsing through. After 5 min, it builds up pressure and I quit.
2017-10-04 0
you can't stop your thoughts but u can check yourself before u act. no excuses.
2017-07-20 0
I thought they were approaching me in the stores because I was sexy...WHICH I AMMMMMMMMM
2017-06-28 3
When I used to hear conservatives talk about this years ago I really thought they were being xenophobic, this is crazy!
2017-06-27 0
I do appreciate what was said in the show but there other types of discrimination by employers, landlords, stores. It can be how you dress, how you wear your hair, what colour your hair is, if you have tats. For employers, your medical history: I was refused a job at a bank because my grandfather was epileptic and it was thought that I might have the problem. When looking for an apartment or house it really all depends on the owners frame of mind on that particular day, not your references. So it is invasive in all of our lives. Human nature is not all good.

While watching JFL I thought Canadians are kind in this vid now I have trust issues
2017-06-10 1

I thought Canadian Air Force fly planes, So its the Army that flies plans Umm Does the Canadian Air Force drive tanks?
2017-03-21 0
I'm sick of being invaded! Get the fuck out seriously! If only we could have a kind of Donald trump for the Canada! \n\nI never thought that i would say that one day but I'm a french canadian and I have a message to all my english canadians, we must to forget our differences for once because we are the REAL Canadians here and it's time to be unite against the real threat. I know between us it never has been perfect because we are different, but after all this is OUR land not them. They just try to make a Coran's Lands 2.0\n\nAnd it pissed me off that those fucking immigrants can go first and not the native populations that they were firsts and they welcomed us. We give them too much privileges!\n\nbtw with Trudeau it's not gonna change for the best.

I thought canada was supposed to be better than America. I guess not judging by the trolls in the comments that seems to hate cbc but watch and comment on all their videos.

Recently I had a very uncomfortable time shopping for a sofa. I shopped for a couple weeks, looking around the many furniture stores in my neighbourhood. I thought I was maybe crazy but after a couple trips back to a few of the same stores I could tell a few of the stores didn't want to deal with me because of my skin colour. I hate racism and intolerance.

Regarding the girl who received less while wearing the veil than when wearing nothing/ a hijab: Don't get me wrong the things some poeple said to her were horrible, but i think its just natural that someone would be more willing to donate to someone whose face is clearly visible as they could be more sympathetic towards them based on their expressions and such. After all, would you donate to someone who was wearing a hockey mask or a balaclava? (I'm not implying that these are in any way the same, but remember that the Qaran does not state that they have to wear a full veil, just some food for thought). Some may argue that this intrudes on basic human facial expressions to one another.) Not only can people feel uneasy when they see someone in a burqa, but it can also be dangerous to the very person underneath it. The burqa isolates women from others and can hide evidence of abuse or assault. It advocates segregation of muslim women in public, which is blatant discrimination within itself, whichever way you look at it!!!

This might be similar, but a little different. I've been language profiled before, just for speaking my mother tongue. I'm bilingual, english is a second language to me but welsh is my first and primary language. There's a notion that that some languages are redundant, not even worth speaking or learning. \n\nSometimes being different is a good thing, but why do people mock us for being ourselves?\n\nIt's not how a person looks that counts it's the who they are as an individual that counts. \n\nQ: Get rid of the label that you pin on someone, what else do you have left?\n A: a human being, who has more in common with us than we thought. Believe it or not people are interesting. Diversity in life, cultural backgrounds & experience makes life fun! So, let's see if were able to help others in a good way, not a problematic negative one.\n\n(sorry if this turned into a rant)\n\nNadoleg Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda!\n\nMerry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Canada sounds identical to Australia except the weather is warm here not cold I think I'd say Canadian people I prefer but than America has everything available which can be a good thing or a bad thing thoughts from melbourne

If you go into a store and stay a long period of time and appear that you're aimlessly walking around, then prepare to be viewed with suspicion. Racial disparities in behavior do reasonably factor into the thought processes of the staff.

I thought the First Nation's guy was Asian tbh

I saw a women wearing burka the other day, she got angry when I tried to post my letter in her face. I thought she was a mailbox.

I thought Canada was cooler than that. I guess I was wrong but I have visited here six times. It is better than America where police here kill you (Mostly black men) without penalty. U.S.

*I thought Canada was full of extremely nice, accepting, and tolerant people...* it seems I was wrong. It's just about as bad as everywhere else.

Oh I'm sorry, I thought Islam told its followers to chop fingers and heads off? Sounds like a death cult to me.

I would very much like the muslims to tell us real Canadians what contributions that they are making to our country as a whole. How are they making life in Canada better? How are they bringing stability and growth to our country? They spend time teaching their silly little book to the people in their flock but nothing about Canada, our values, our hopes and aspirations for the country. The silly little book does nothing to further the common good of Canada. It only forwards the wants of the muslim community.\nAnd finally, religion is the bane of intellectual thought. No one and I mean no one, can know about the mind of a god that does not exist.
2016-05-24 0
What a screwed up religion. Ok, Let's see if I understand Islam correctly. God or Allah, the creator of Heaven and Earth, all powerful knowing our very thoughts, chose a man as a model for us to follow. This man, Muhammed, who was illiterate, spent his spare time alone in caves, raped little girls and killed hundreds who didn't agree with him. Are you trying to tell me this is the role model for humanity? You are seriously wasting my time !
2016-04-12 0
Canada I get it. You are super nice people, but if you can't recognize evil and are afraid to fight for your country you are going to lose it. And if you think Trudeau is going to lead the fight you are mistaken. He couldn't win a slap fight with little girl. He will smile as your country becomes the Meca of north America. Here's a thought experiment. Join, become a Muslim, announce it on Facebook. Then stand up in the middle of prayer time and say I quit.
