My family and I have a lot of medical issues, so the US health insurance system would see it as a pre existing condition, so no health insurance for us.... I give it a hard NO to moving to the USA, just for that reason alone, but there are many other reasons I wouldn't move to the USA. I like it here in Canada. The USA might be a good place to visit, but not live.

I suggest google’n “ school shootings, small town America”…. article after article, when you do, says why most mass school shootings tend to happen in small towns….where nobody expects that they would have happened & how all the residents in those towns are always surprised that they happened in their town. \nI say this as somebody who once loved the idea of moving to the USA. \nMy mom was a single parent and as a result I spent a ton of time as a very young kid in the late 80s throughout the mid 90s in a small town in Oregon on my aunt and uncles dairy farm with my cousins and I absolutely loved it. Truthfully, I still love small-town America and I love the vast majority of the people I have met from small-town America. There is the friendliness and community that I find very similar to prairie farming towns in Canada. \n And as a kid, I loved the focus on high school sports in the small USA town I spent time in and how it brought the community together. It was very exciting to go to my cousins football games—stuff like that was super fun as a kid.\nAs an adult, with 2 young kids of my own now? \nYes, I would be terrified to send my children to any school in the United States, especially knowing that the vast majority of my school shootings do happen in small towns, which is a type of place in the states I would personally like to go to, if I did move. \n\nAdditionally, I will be completely bankrupt at this point given my own health issues as well as my two kids health issues and I’m just in my late 30s. \nAnd I’m not talking to super crazy health issues, but health issues nonetheless. I have asthma that has gone through patches where I’ve had to be hospitalized & I was diagnosed with stage 3 malignant melanoma when I was in my late 20s and pregnant with my 2nd. My first child was born with a congenital heart disorder that was missed through the pregnancy and until she was two, and that involved many many trips to the hospital & various specialists until they figured out what was going on (one of the symptoms was her randomly stopping breathing and going blue, which was terrifying, and could’ve been for many different reasons & it took many specialists & many hospital visits to figure it all out)\nMy son was born with a multiple protein intolerance and later received an autism diagnosis. There a decent number of hospital visits and specialists for his first couple of years of life too. \n\n I have no idea if I was in the United States how I would’ve paid for any of our health issues (let alone all three of ours) for that 5 or 6 year period where we all needed various types of regular-ish medical care. \n(because we got good medical care, thankfully, none of us have really had to see doctors any more than the average person in the last few years?)\n\nMy kids are now in elementary school, and, as a Canadian, the issue of school shootings happening anywhere….., including in small towns that seem perfectly safe……as well as the cost of healthcare for stuff that is covered by our taxes here in Canada….. are the two biggest reasons that I will think fondly of my time in small-town America, but would never consider moving there

I lived in MA for 17 years. I liked it and have many friends from there. I would go back, but yes, the healthcare would stop me. Getting older, needing more medical intervention. Not having to worry about healthcare costs is easy. I also said that the US was one step away from being behind the iron curtain. There is not the same freedoms there as there is here in Canada. The media controls the nation. Too much news. Not so here.\n\nWhile in Florida recently, my friends granddaughter was in a mall hiding from an active shooter. She was calm, I was hysterical.

My visits to the U.S. have always been positive experiences. Always. But, when you see signs in malls (outside of Macey's at the Mall of America) to keep your guns locked in your cars and not bring them into the mall...well!!! So many reasons to not leave Canada. So many to not move to the U.S. Just the politics alone is nonsensical. The inmates are running the asylum. Sorry Tyler, thanks but hell no. Never.

canada just has too many positives to want to put those aside and move away.. if you can tolerate the winters.

I could live in Southern California, Washington state or Miami area. Been there many times. I love going shopping and eating there.\n\nMy wife is from a foreign country and prefers Canada. She only likes North Vancouver as well to live.

You're proud of your country. \n\nAs a Canadian, I always felt the difference in basic attitudes between our countries may stem from our history of gaining national independence.\n\nYou all fought tooth and nail and are still immensely proud of that accomplishment. \n\nWe negotiated over time. It stands to reason our society would develop into one more invested in peace and negotiation, and even a deeper sense of social responsibility to our fellow citizens' welfare.\n\nI know of many different reasons why I love your country, enjoy visiting, and am glad we are neighbours. But to live in the US would take a change in my deeply ingrained sense of identity that I'm not willing to give up. \n\nI think you'll find even the Americans who joke about moving to Canada woukd find it similarly difficult to change their feelings. \n\nThank you for your interesting and respectful content. I don't think I would move to the U.S. for many reasons. Healthcare is great in Canada. I don't think I'd be able to afford insurance in the U.S. , I also would be afraid of guns, the coastlines will rise by the 2030s, so my dreams of California and New York are out as well, never mind the outrageous cost of living there and being an arts person, I wouldn't want to be there now with the strike. I don't think I'd be affected as a stand-up comedian, but the opportunities would be way less with the industry shut down.

Hey Tyler...ask the question in reverse...see how many Americans would move to Canada....and I have a question for you, Why should I have to make a choice where I live, directly in response to gun violence and mass shootings, lousy uber expensive health care , discrimination, racism, bigotry, and hatred?...like I said in my 1st post, I lived in Cali. and Arkansas in the mid 80's, as different as environments can be...yet all of the same issues, just some more pronounced than others ( surprisingly, I saw and HEARD a lot more racism in Southern California than I did in Arkansas)....but now, in the 21st Century, the fact that politicians are actively trying (and in a lot of cases succeeding) to return the U.S. to the 1900 ( taking the vote away from minorities, especially blacks and native Americans), making women bend the knee to what men say and want them to do ( the reversal of Roe v Wade, 100% total bans on reproductive rights, and the restrictive, totalitarian, Nazi/fascist bans on the rights to choose who you want to be, how you want to be addressed, LGBTQ people and lifestyles) when I see this, hear the right-wing racist, elitist,MAGA, B.S., I wonder how ANY people in their right minds could want to live in 2023 America, the Land of the Lost !

Been to the states many times and never really worried about my safety. My wife however has heard so much about the shootings that she is afraid to visit. When we travel abroad it's Europe or the Caribbean. I think because we here in Canada see so much of the gun violence in the states on the news we think its everywhere, skewing our perception maybe.

I have visited the US several times when I was growing up. Been to many States. Out of all the states I've been to, my favourite was Tennessee. But would I move there? Heck no. There is way to much violence for me. Plus the health care in Canada won't bankrupt you. I also don't like the fact that the US's economy is based mostly around wars. As soon as their dollar starts to tank, they are involved in another war. I think that is why most other Nations prefer Canadians over Americans.

I would consider living in the USA but I would lose many of my Canadian veterans benefits and services that I currently receive. My grandparents are from North Dakota. I could use that to get citizenship through derivation… but then there would be the requirement to file income taxes in both countries. Any tax free benefits I get as a Canadian vet, would loose their tax free status and become taxable if I claimed my citizenship… so I have decided not too. If these issues were not in play, I would consider moving to northern Minnesota or Montana or Vermont. Somewhere close to the Canadian border, close to family but in a better climate zone. I like growing my own food and a longer growing season with nicer forests would be awesome. The climate in Manitoba is not the greatest for growing a variety of trees… and the trees do not get very big. I love Orlando and spend about 6 weeks a year there… but I could not see myself living there full time. Sometimes I will drive the 3600 km south to Orlando and I get a really good view of the wealth disparity in the USA… So that alone, I am happier in Canada… knowing that there is a better safety net for us should a situation in life happen that would leave you broke and homeless in the USA

I’m a duel citizen but I was born and raised in Canada and I would say I have more of a Canadian mindset. There are many things that I like about the States even though I wouldn’t move there. A lot of Canadians like to go shopping and for vacation. I hope to one day explore the North West coast of the States. I know there is a lot of awesome nature. This year however I plan on exploring more of Canada as I haven’t seen as much of my own home. \n\nTyler, I hope you will be able to come and visit Canada. It’s a hidden gem and the exchange rate is pretty good for Americans. I think that would be a really cool video. ?

No question there are many things thatAmericans can enjoy that are not available for Canadians. For one, the variety of consumer goods is more plentiful due to the size of your population. Our population is one tenth of the U.S. so the consumer market is much smaller. Having lived in the US for a dozen years, I missed so many things about Canada. Now living back here I appreciate our universal health care and the fact that everyone isn’t walking around with a weapon. Those were the two things that really bothered me about the US. I had a great job and worked with great people and we continue to be friends. And now the political climate in the US is teetering on absolute chaos. ????

Sorry Tyler, but given the current social and political environment in the USA I do not want to visit the country and definitely never move there.\n\nThe challenge for me is the realization that Canada was built on community, while I see many (too many) Americans fiercely independent and not seemingly caring about anyone but themselves. \n\nCanada IS NOT PERFECT. We have gang violence, drug issues, racism, homelessness, poverty, inefficient political and bureaucratic system, but in general I feel that people will be more polite and helpful to each other than in the US.

I'm afraid that with the gun craze down there, I would not consider it. Then, there is the lousy healthcare... And just when I think you guys aren't that bad off, I watch an episode of John Oliver's This Week Tonight, and a plethora of new reasons spring up. \n\nRight now in Canada, there is a Conservative Party that is starting to adopt the MAGA philosophy of consorting with white supremacism, fascism, misogyny and racist, and I cannot imagine moving to a place where this stuff is running rife. \n\nTyler, you are a lovely example of a decent American, and in truth, when visiting the States (which I haven't done for years), I met more people like you than like MAGA. However, my tolerance for stupid, hateful people is far lower since Trump was elected, and I swore I would not visit the US again until the WH, Congress and the Senate clean house of the Republican scourge. \n\nBut moving to the US would never be an option for me. I know a lot of Canadians that moved to the US because:\n- lower cost of living \n- warmer weather\n- better business opportunities or access into industries such as athletics, music and film\n\nAs a Canadian female living in Toronto, this is why I wouldnt move to the US\n\n1. Safety \n\n2. Racism\n\n3. Women's reproductive rights\n\n4. Health care costs\n\n5. Natural disasters- too many areas with things like hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. Even snow, there are areas in the states like Michigan and Minnesota that get worse snow than we do here in Toronto being situated along lake Ontario \n\n6. Lower costs for college/university in Canada

Tyler,it's simple, we won't move to 'merica because of the racism, guns, maga turds, removal of women's rights, the way you guys worship liars(fox), the crazies you all elect, the extreme rich churches, healthcare, billionaires not paying taxes, removal of social programs for the poor, and many, many more(florida,texas, etc.) When we watch the real news, because in Canada it must be true to be news, we watch with horror as your country burns to the ground because of people like drumpf, musk, gym jordan, mtg, etc.

Almost all of those Americans who say that never do. They know a good thing when they have it. The US population is 8.5x that of Canada, but nearly 13x the GDP. (Tyler, almost anything you can find to see/do in Canada, you can see/do in the US. There are many things in the US that you can't see/do in Canada.)

Lack of affordable housing -- lack of housing in general -- is the main reason people already living here are being priced out and why so many refugees and immigrants cannot afford the cost when they move here. When these people come to Canada for a better life and/or to escape the suffering that they were living in, they cannot bring their homes with them. It is the government's responsibility at all levels to ensure that these newcomers have a place to go when they come here. A homeless shelter should not be the answer. Buy up office spaces and convert them (if safe to do so with whatever codes need to be met) into affordable housing units. For years we've been seeing hundreds of news articles about vacancies in office buildings being at all time highs, yet only a handful of them are being converted. 500,000 people a year entering a country where there isn't enough housing for them (let alone the people living here already) is irresponsible on the government's part. If this is your pledge, at least give these people a better life and not send them to shelters or onto the streets as soon as they arrive. If Canada is to truly be a safe haven for immigrants and refugees escaping their hardships, it's paramount that the government does what it can to make these people actually feel like their life will change for the better. I'm all for immigration since it helps the economy and knowing that Canada can put people in a better position for themselves and their families, but it's the lack of preparation from the governments that makes me question their pledge in this way.

Although Canada is facing many challenges it has the potential to change and become a better nation!

Canada does more to discourage start ups then encourage them. Canada is a terrible country to try and start a business which explains why so many exploit the house market, which in turn has made a complete mess of affordable housing for Canadians. Foreign property investing was suppose to have been stopped but the Liberal government changed their mind and decided to allow foreigners to continue buying up properties and driving the house prices higher too the point properties are empty because no one can afford the rental prices. I guess that's why the Federal government introduced a new tax for properties that are vacant. Oh Canada

When you talk about Healthcare your analysis is solely based on Personal income tax. This is utterly disingenuous, because all working individuals pay taxes in Canada and that money goes into paying for not just health care but many constructs that govt. of a modern society must pay to ensure Canada remains competitive. Out healthcare system is struggling but it's still way better than the American system.

But now am in the process of filing for my mom to come as a permanent resident. Forget parents, even many immigrants are unhappy in Canada. Every time I run into an Indian who has studied or lived in US he is frustrated. 2 people in my team received their Canadian citizenship and have started trying for positions in US. 3 white Canadians in our company moved to US in last 2 year itself.\nCanada is not a great country from parents. It's cold, white and depressing throughout. Many parents can stay for relatively longer in California or Texas where there is vibrant community and weather is very much like India. I lived for 10 years of life in snow before moving to Canada - Massachusetts, North Carolina and Virginia. I just 2 winters, I feel depressed in Canada as it's white for 4 to 5 months.

My Sister live in Canada now,but for me living in Canada is not Wise, because the cost of living this country is high,other law,and other. That's why in my Province in Dumaguete City Neg. Or, are many Canadians, especially old Canadians, especially many kinds of NATIONALITIES,like Americans, British, Germany, Russians, Ukrainians, Africans, Japanese,Koreans, Chinese, Spanish, Swedish,and many more.

I lived in Canada from 2002 to 2013 and then came back to Brazil because a super job opportunity. I don’t have to say that I love the country and have so many friends in Vancouver. And these friends have started to complain of the country since 2019/2020. It is sad that canadians are having lesser perception of this AMAZING country.

As a Canadian here are my views on the problems here:\n1.Government waste/spending\n2. Insane taxes, we literally pay taxes on our tax here. When you add it all up the lower tax brackets after their 15% gst pay about 45% of their income in taxes alone. Provinces like Nova Scotia are disgusting when it comes to the tax they pay. \n3. Easy immigration, we should consider immigrants based on what they can do for Canada, we don't need hundreds of thousands who can't work or refuse to work. It's a strain on the system. The immigration also artificially increases housing costs.\n4.Government corruption, it's part of why the taxes are so high. It's also part of the recent hyperinflation Canada has suffered. Just look up Trudeaus WE charity Scandall or SNC Lavalin Scandal, some even say Trudeau was getting kickbacks from the vaccine which I have yet to see evidence of but I personally believe it. \n5. Politically illiterate voters and propaganda, here in Canada the government likes to keep it's people uninformed and how they do it is through propaganda. The Liberals have every major news source in Canada in their pocket and in order for you to get news that isn't influenced by them you have to specifically search for them by name, those include Rebel News, TFI Global, and True North. Almost everything else is incredibly biased, they selectively report the news and in many cases outright lie. This causes extreme political illiteracy in it's population.\n6. Housing rules, here in Canada there are some really stupid bylaws like the main floor of your primary dwelling must be 900sqft in some areas, plus building codes prevent cheap construction of homes. You could have a tiny home on piers and it wouldn't cost much but because of our laws and codes it's impossible. You need a proper foundation, footings, building permits, ad in order to get a permit you need to submit blueprints, etc. You can't just buy a prefab building set it on piers and live in it. That'd be too easy, that'd make housing affordable and the government wouldn't like that. \n7. Woke indoctrination centers, The public education system here is all about putting in regular kids and pumping out future Liberal voters. It's a mess.\n8. You can't defend yourself, In Canada you aren't allowed to carry a weapon for self defense. If a criminal breaks into your home you are supposed to do everything you can to escape rather than defend your property. Criminals have more protection under the law than the law abiding citizens. \n9. Low wages, because of immigration wages are low compared to the USA for most jobs in most locations\n10. Thigs cost more in Canada than the USA after taking into consideration currency conversion rates, even things manufactured in Canada\n11. The cold. Nobody likes the cold for the 4-6 months of the year that the higher populated areas of the country have it. The more densely populated areas also tend to be the warmest. \n12. Fascist leaders. It's no secret Justin Trudeau and the Liberals are fascists\n13. Governmental links to the WEF, you'll own nothing and you'll be happy or so their add said. The truth is Canadians can afford less and less under Liberal leadership which is no surprise since Justin Trudeau and Chrystia are supporters of the WEF.

It's funny how you're surprised that Canada has high taxes. It's obvious - it's social democratic state. Such countries usually have sky high taxes and shitty free health services and whatever free. You pay twice for free services - it's typical. Haven't you heard about it ? It amazes me how many people don't understand this simple principle that nothing is really free.

I thought Canada is one of the best place to live and work thats why i dreamt of going to Canada but i have been denied for a visa many times until i gave up my dreams going to Canada. I am from Philippines.

Canada has developed a culture of rich-hating which drives polices that harms investments so even Canadians invest and do business in the US instead of at home. RE is a great example, there is so much red tape for developers and landlords I know many that just build homes in the US instead. Not to mention the government charges a flat tax of 50% on rental income. This has lead to shortfall of homes. Ontario population has grown about 800k since 2020 but the province only built 200k homes.

The part about the banking system is at best a half truth. Canada looked like it came through the 2008 crisis better than the States because the government did not allow a correction in the housing market. Rather, the Canadian government kept the party going with free money, which made the balance sheets of the banks look good, but over time caused housing prices to inflate far faster than household income. The result now is wildly over-inflated housing prices which - coupled with increasing immigration of well to do foreigners pricing Canadians out of the market - has come to the point that many Canadians born in Canada can no longer afford to live there. This in turn exacerbates the brain drain to the USA, which further reduces Canada’s innovativeness and international competitiveness. \n\nHowever, the universe mandates equilibrium, and this house of cards will come down sooner or later. When it does, Canada will be facing a far worse financial and economic crisis than the USA did in the late 00’s, as all of the Big 5 banks will become insolvent.

Both the ladies find nothing good about Canada . In India everyone is spoiled . That is why so many people are getting sick. They should learn to do work themselves.

I see this done a lot but there's a big difference between correlation and causation. Your Rbc example shows the top people all white, including women I may add. It's very ingenuous to claim racism based purely on who has risen to the top. Would you call the NBA racist because blacks overwhelmingly are represented or did they get there because they were the best? It's really exhausting having to correct leftist talking points based on nothing.\nThis is the problem today, racism is used so much that it's become little more than name calling because people, usually on the left, call anyone they disagree with racist.\nYou dislike illegal immigration? These are incredibly rare and are often skewed politically, largely for reasons I just explained but if an indigenous man assaults an Asian lady, it's less likely to be labeled a hate crime as, say a white male doing the exact same.\nNot so common here but in the US, there are numerous examples of blacks assaulting Asians and orthodox jews and the media will cleverly imply it's whites by saying white supremacy is on the rise, then give the stats on hate crimes, most of which were not committed by whites. It's this kind of media manipulation that creates an inaccurate impression.\nNow, for the indigenous, yes, there is systemic racism. We have an entire governmental system treating natives differently with reserves, different taxes, hunting rights etc by definition it's systemically racist although many are a benefit.\nI also agree with your comment on Quebec with it's strong almost nationalist attitudes towards maintaining it's French heritage at the expense of individual rights.\n, please don't label someone or an organization as racist just because a bunch of white people occupy top positions without evidence that racism was the cause when it could just be they were the best candidates. Is it not best to not always assume the absolute worst before coming to a conclusion? It's like our legal system based on a biblical tale of choosing to let a 100 guilty go free than condemn a single innocent man. A founding principle to modern western countries that should apply here.\nBeing racist is a serious and nasty accusation that should be thrown only when it's established. I don't call someone a child killer just because I disagree with their politics and to do so is an a front to genuine victims. \nI'd argue Canada is one of the least racist nations on Earth. Name a country, you think is LESS racist, I'm curious, what would you suggest? I would counter that racism or xenophobia is far more common in non western countries.\nI would suggest countries in Asia, Africa and others with less multicultural populations harbor more racist sentiment towards other races. Canada has many regional differences, so it can depend on where you move in Canada. BC and Alberta are quite different while Western Canada is different from Ontario and Quebec, as well as the Atlantic provinces. It really depends on what you need, are looking for, want, and more.\nWhen it comes to Canadian multiculturalism, that evolved out of Canada having to balance both English and French languages and cultures—which is something countries like Australia or the US haven't had to deal with—as well as Indigenous people and immigrant cultures.

I will say in one part: you are very very right. \n\nIn another part, you’re looking for a lifestyle that’s more catered to how you view the world and your wants/needs. \n\nVancouver is gorgeous. And, many cities in Europe (even though they’re historically beautiful) do not compare to Vancouver. It’s different. East Van has a lot of character.\n\nBut you’re a pioneer of pointing out many truths and you won’t be the last guy that talks about it. This hustle, restless culture and sans community in Canada is both sad and also good and motivating to develop into something worthwhile. While in Europe I feel this distaste and misery for anything that has ambition to gather wealth.

The guy left Vancouver certainly as much as he left Canada. This country is a veru diverse place. In fact it contains many countries, including Québec where i come from. There is problems everywhere including in Europe.

No, they do bring up questions such as where are you from and you respond to them then they ask you where are you from originally, they are very nosi and by many means want to find answers for their curiosity, in Toronto no one even do eye contact let alone to be friendly or socializing, if someone approaches you is not out of friendliness, it's out of their curiosity and finding out information about you. If they hear you speaking in your native ? get mad and tell you here is Canada. I think your video is well done. I used to love visiting the US especially the west and have fond memories of our travels .Now we don't travel to the US because of the gun violence and so many guns. Most Canadians don't want guns and think gun control should be very strict. I am very content with the way things are in Canada. We have high taxes but we have so many benefits, like maternity leave of 12 months or more. We have free healthcare with no premiums to pay. We have at least 2 government pensions , one we help contribute to and one is totally government funded plus a guarantee supplement if needed . Most people also have a company or union \npension . Most people retire between 60 to 65 years , but its certainly not compulsory. Canada is hoping to have a 4 day work week soon. Our federal government is generous helping with supplements for food etc. We welcome newcomers and we have a very diverse population. I have traveled to different parts of the world and I am very content here.

To all of the imigrants who want a better life. STUDY hard and recieve your education in your HOME COUNTRY and get as many qualifications as you can. THEN learn ENGLISH, communication and Microsoft office. Congratulations, you are now JOB ready. NOW come to Canada, other countries other than your homeland. BOOM, you will now be qualified, have a well paid job. Start a family and can LIVE. This will add less headache for your parents, families. DO NOT come here without a plan.

It is because Trudeau's policy, there are express process for those who entered Canada this way to get PR. From the date they made refugee claim, they receive welfare, their children get education as Canadian citizen. Those who pay application fee to immigrate Canada have to wait years, and after they arrive they have to wait 3 months to get health care. But this people can get health in 3 days. How many of them are real refugees. Trudeau use our Canadian tax payers money to get his future voters.

For me, I live in Vancouver, but when I'm done college, I'm hoping to find a job in Seattle and immigrate there. They recently opened up a Pokemon HQ there, Nintendo's hiring, Seattle's the HQ of Bungie, the maker of the Destiny games and much more! I feel like it's easier to find a job in the US than in Canada. In fact, my college instructor said so. There's more jobs there than in this small town. I'm heading towards SFU and I'm hoping to land a few coops, including one in Seattle to see if I like it there. And no, I do not care about healthcare, mass shootings or politics. The chances of you randomly being shot is about the same as getting ran over by a car. For healthcare, it's usually provided by your employer. But otherwise, you can buy it yourself as there's many options to choose from. Some of them are really good, but people are just overgeneralizing everything. My hope is that employment will eventually lead to permanent residency. Then, I can go buy a house in Texas, Florida or Colorado where it's much cheaper than Vancouver

The cuts were targeted to preserve wealth for the middle and lower classes.\n\nI could go on for another 100 pages but you get the idea and I get crabby writing for free.\n\nI will leave you with the caution that it’s best if you doubt and question any data and any stats coming from our government. Those are seldom legit. If the data comes from a study, always look to see who paid for it. And how large the sample size was; how were the participants selected?
