No one can justify Knife by giving name kirpan.... Respect their law and rules... It's a knife you cannot carry around everywhere....

He’s in another country, different law, different habits, different mentality. Why other cultures come to Europe or USA always demanding to respect their culture? It should be the other way around. He can wear his ritual knife but hide it because in our culture it’s dangerous object and most people are ignorant toward religions. He’s wearing a western T-shirt that means he’s flexible, he could hide it.

When in Rome do what the Romans do, this is not Punjab, respect the laws of the country or conceal your article of faith this is to prevent abuse by miscreants. No disrespect to anyone

I know that the actions seen out here in the video is kind of an extrem, but I believe whatever measures were taken it was for the welfare of keeping everybody safe in which my Sikh brother had no bad intentions but it was all an honest mistake.  According to my understanding he could've worn the Kripan under his T-shirt.. no disrespect to nobody but I'm here with all my Love and Respect to all.. \nAnd He being out of India.. people might have heard or know about Sikhism but respectively being in a totally different country it'll be a cultural shock to some of its fellow country's residents and that too he is in an educational environment or zone where a lot of unfortunate events had occur in the past few years due to violence.. so taking these reasons and unfortunate incidents under consideration.. our dear Sikh brother did not do anything wrong in openly carrying a Kripan (knife) for it is his cultural right and had gone some kind of a rituals in order to carry a Kripan for self-defense. But people will still feel some kind of uneasiness when it comes to weapons seen in and around educational area or zones. \nSo whatever measures had been taken for the safty of all.. especially by the security as he was doing his job by understanding the situation. No heard feeling to nobody but I just wanted to get my point across regarding this incident. N I know my Sikh brothers n sisters will definitely come to an agreement of understanding in what I'm trying to say..

Ppl commenting here are missing the point that chancellor apologized and educated people about Sikhism in his letter …unlike india where political parties would rather not muslim girls study than let them wear hijab …hijab is not a security threat ……talking about respecting all religion in current bjp ruled India …again majority of secular Indians need to stand up against this slow poison in India

No county on earth like India. They respect every culture. Wear it with pride and if THIS is the way they learn about your culture by handcuffs…. Keep doing it till they know who we are… \nI’m not sad by watching this but with pride I will say… Bole So Nihal... Sat Sri Akal! ??

On the name religion you can't bring such things to public places \nWith all respect to Sikhism.
2022-10-06 0
They go to Amreeka and Kanedda like it's their uncle's house . Fucking respect their rules why don't you. Sikhs carried a weapon back in the day of Aurangzeb and his Jihadi agendas as a method of self defence. You don't have to take it with you everywhere now . And ff sake dont be so damn loud all the time.

He Should Respect that Country Law. Why he Bring knife in College. It is Not India where its allowed to Sikh Bring Knif.
2022-10-06 0
If it's necessary (which i guess it is) he should wear a small one without an edge and get it inspected every morning, just like they inspect bags for guns, a blunt one would be as effective as a steel ruler, i think we should solve this open mindedly while respecting each other's culture

People who posted silly comments regarding Sikh Kirpan , Search Sikh history and get educated about Sikhism first.\nLearn to respect other people' s religion .

but the way we respect our religion, we should also respect the law of the country we live and should hide kirpan
2022-10-06 0
Seriously this is not right, that’s not a knife it’s a Sikh symbol, Sikh carry it as a religious person.\nwhat the hell is this? This is person is definitely uneducated who doesn’t know about others cultures spiritual respects of symbols. Everyone please speak it up.
2022-10-06 0
Honestly, you can't practice your culture thing in another country. Same is applied to foreigners when they visit India. So, respect the law and culture of country you visit and live in peace.
2022-10-06 0
This is what happens when people instead of their head start thinking with their @ss........ it's good to be religious but theirs a limit to every think. Don't be like Muslims who know no boundaries. Learn to respect the law of the land.
2022-10-05 0
Well I respect their culture and tradition but carrying knife itself makes it not so safety for one seeing him, in India burqa was asked to be taken off , why nlt knife ?
2022-10-05 0
Very bad action by police. Kirpan is essential part of Sikh faith. And we should respect it.
2022-10-05 0
This is very annoying....\nU r visiting some other country and thinking that ur customs will be respected....thats too much....\n\nHats off to that police officer who chose safety of citizen above fake seculariam....\n\nI know sikhs r very peaceful community but the thing is if govt get loose on this then radical bastrads of desert will create havoc in that country in the name of their customs....\n\nSo bro,for the safety of that country it is correctly done and should be carry forwarded....

Why does he need to wear at University?\nI respect my culture but college ,school , University is not a place to showcase your religion.
2022-10-05 0
We have to respect the law
2022-10-05 1
I am proud of you bro that you carry your religion symbol with respect.. they are showing that they don't know anything about gatra sahib. ..but there is a large number of sikh community in USA then how is it possible... Shame on those who just did such kind of ridiculous action
2022-10-05 0
With due respect for everyone's religious sentiments, I think creating exception here and there is fine as long as it does not violate safety related rules. Naamdhari sikhs should think of ways to carry their religious identity within the ambit of evolving social norms and rules.
2022-10-05 0
Imagine this happening in India only in here they can vandalise stuff and get away with it most of the time respect the rules of the land you live in it's a safety Hazzard none the less
2022-10-05 0
That's pathetic , they should learn to respect religious beliefs what if we deny their faith don't play with such kind of serious things. And first of all who the hell was that coward who did this shit of calling the police

I am a Muslim and I respect Shikhs for their strong religious principles but there are places where a religious symbol that can be hazardous should not be worn.

The USA has become a shit-hole now. People are Racist, always scared due to increased crimes, people are not well aware of other religions, they still have a stereotypical mindset when they see any Asian.. \n\n\nI'm asking all the outsiders please consider coming back to your respective countries and be needful for your nation. Leave that shit-hole.

I speak for myself and not on behalf of anyone.\n\nFirstly, in any such situation be it any religion, caste etc, before reacting, imagine if this was happening to your own son/daughter, your own brother/sister. \n\nSecondly what faith one chooses to practice and how they embrace it, be it wearing a kirpan, a burqa, or keeping a shika(choti), etc, especially opinions like what one can or cannot wear/do, lead to more harm than good. We don't live there, it's not our religion, it's not our life, then who are we to condemn and be opinionated about them.\n\nThirdly, whether the kirpan should be allowed inside an educational campus can only be determined by the campus authorities, the local police and the Sikh community representatives there.\n\nYes, he could have and should have worn it on the inside just like so many Brahmins wear the sacred white thread (yajnopavita).\n\nHe could have taken prior permission from the college authorities to freely wear it if possible and all this could have been avoided. Maybe he doesn't get the permission to wear it, who knows, there are countless possibilities.\n\nAnd lastly, I've come across so many comments labelling the Sikhs as Khalistanis, then if there's some other incident, commenting that people of so and so faith are terrorists, etc.\n\nBy all means, please call us Khalistanis, please call us terrorists, call us anything you like, but we'll continue to respect and love everyone.\n\nIt's a shame that our Jawaans are dying on the border fighting for their country, fighting for our country, fighting for us and we are creating divisions amongst ourselves. Petty name calling and what not.\n\nWe are Indians first, any Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist, or Parsi...Indian getting harassed is my brother/sister getting harassed. Their loss is our loss.\n\nPS: If I have offended anyone, my apologies.

It is kripan for us but not for them, atleast respect the law of the Land.

When in Rome, Do as the Romans Do' refers to the importance of adapting yourself to the customs of the people who are in a certain place or situation and behave like they do.\n\nThis was copied from Google, just one suggestion for fellow Indians Respect other countries rules and regulations too.\nHe could have skipped college for few days or should had taken permission before.

Respect brother ❤.. Be sikhi✊
2022-10-03 0
If people in India are opposing Hijaab in educational institutions then why are these same people supporting wearing Kripan . We respect every culture but these practices should be strictly prohibited from educational institutions
2022-10-03 0
Well done.... Respect the law and abide by it wherever you live, it's not Punjab.

I don't see an issue here as long as I can carry an ar15 as part of my religion ? but seriously at least he was calm and respectful... Sihks are the warriors yet every one I've ever met were the nicest most centered people you can imagine! I hope this is settled peacefully and responsibly, aka I hope the school doesn't kick him out or over exaggerate the punishment

You cannot enter usa without agreeing for every rule and regulation of country. He as a student would have pleaded to follow all us rules and regulations to get a chance to study there. He is showing all bulshit now. He should have respected the law of land

USA is the Dumbest place on Earth. Why the hell they don’t know how to respect someone’s religion. He was not using that knife and first of all thats not a knife thats a Kripan which means something that’s only be used against bad things and to protect weaker not to threaten innocents.

Just curious. Would it be alright to carry a kirpan in airplane will that be allowed? Respect your religion but also respect other religion, culture and other people concern for their safety
