I am going to get my diploma in June, but I want to speed up the process so can I apply for ITA in May? \nAnd also I’m aiming the best score for IELTS. In the CRS Calculation site it says 7.5-9 is the highest for Speaking. Does it matter if I get 8.5 or 7.5 for example? \nThanks in advance.

I’ve lived in Canada my whole life, I’ve gone through a year of culinary school and passed high school with decent grades. Yet still improving my quality of life is an uphill battle. Bus prices and efficiency is awful, if you don’t have a car good luck cause you’ll spend much of your wage on bus fare and still have to walk through poor sidewalk systems to get to your destination. Schooling really didn’t teach me anything about taxes, or getting a job. But let me tell you I sure as heck know how to lease a car.... can’t wait to get a job so I can do that. My year of culinary training, under 4 red seal chefs has gotten me not one job. No matter how perfect you are for the role is you will ALWAYS get an entry level position first. (In my experience at least) and they are completely right, references are 100% key. I have a first shift tomorrow (wish me luck) that I only got because my chiropractor gave the pancakes house owner his reference. Very weird but I’ll take it. On top of all this winter just sucks, politics have gone nowhere in years, and if you don’t live in the major cities of Quebec, BC, or Ontario it’s going to be even harder. Plus living in Manitoba is odd cause people always call it “friendly Manitoba” but everyone (including me) is always frustrated. Needless to say I’m in the process of researching new place to move to, most likely in Europe cause America has all the same problems. (But worse)

Stuff Americans do or have that is totally different from Canadians. \n1. Americans put their macaroni & cheese in the oven, Canadians just cook it over the stove in a pot and stir in the seasoning after \n2. Americans have to pay a whole lot of money for their medications, in Canada it's mostly covered \n3. Americans talk with a weird slang dependin on which part their from, in Canada its plain english or french. (but nothing like the UK english at all) \n4. Americans don't make their poutine fries properly, in Canada its done the finest \n5. Americans have access to some of the best shopping malls in the world, Canada has to basically get everything shipped from there at extra cost.\n6. Americans well a good majority of the states can open carry firearms, in Canada that is completely illegal (but you could have a hunting rifle or crossbow if the RCMP license you to)\n7. Americans federal system is the FEDS and the ATF (correct me if i'm wrong), in Canada its the RCMP. (an NO they do not ride horses everywhere.)\n8. Americans have a much warmer weather all year around, in Canada its freezing most of the year and only get 3 ~ 4 months of warm weather.\n9. Americans well mostly in New York they have awesome chopped cheese sandwiches and cheesesteaks, in Canada you could never find that at Subway.\n10. Americans have Target, Chik-Fil-A, and Walgreens, in Canada we have Tim Hortons, Mary Browns, and Shoppers Drug Mart.

I'm not even going to watch this video. The best province is BC in everything but cost of living.

I’m embarrassed to admit that I had no idea there was slavery in Canada. As a kid, I remember taking school trips to points along the Underground Railroad. This gave me the impression that Canada was a country that slaves could escape to, to find freedom. It’s astounding and distressing that we are not taught the full truth of history. (Another recent revelation for me: Columbus never actually landed on the shores of continental America. The distortions and omissions we’ve been subjected to in our so-called “education”!)

okay, i'm gonna play the devil's advocate.... based on my experience of living and working in 2 cities of the East - Dubai and Delhi, i can say for sure that Canada is light years better than these cities ..... if ur worried about high costs in Canada, Dubai will scare the living daylights out of you. Dubai has a very unstable economy, absolutely no chance of saving, and no free government services. So in case you are diagnosed with a serious medical conditions may god be with you. I loved staying in Delhi while growing up, got some valuable life lessons, but for a working class person Delhi is nothing short of hell.

I’d love to visit Atlantic Canada: all my friends here on the West Coast say it’s very nice. \nI loved living in Quebec and Montreal, but both cities are very cold in winter—and I don’t speak no french too good, hoste! \nI’m from Ontario. it probably was a beautiful place until white people got there. But it’s way too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. Most of my family has moved out to the West Coast. I guess they missed me.\nManitoba is very nice, but you’re right about cold winters and lots of mosquitoes in summer. Winnipeg is a fantastic city. The biggest city on the North American Plains.\nSouthwest Saskatchewan is absolutely beautiful. Nuff said.\nAlberta is one of my favourite provinces—just too bad about the goofy government they got there. I lived and worked there lots over the years. Many Albertans have moved out here to the West Coast to get away from the horrid politics there.\nBC is by far the best place to live. I live in the steep rain shadow of East Vancouver Island, nice and warm, short if any winter. All my friends live here. I used to live in Victoria—we might move back there—it’s my favourite city anywhere. Vancouver is a blast—but too big for me. I wouldn’t live anywhere else in this country but BC. \nFriends tell me Yukon is great but NWT’s Yellowknife is a hell-hole. I read a great online zine from Nunavut—Nunatsiaq. Moving from BC to Alberta in the pursuit of home ownership. I currently live on Vancouver Island, where the avg price of a single family detached home is about $700,000USD. Home ownership had become a real luxury for the millennial middle class, its simply not affordable, Vancouver is worst with an avg price now I think of 1mil USD.\n\nThe house market is going to implode in BC. Life is excellent in Toronto and southern Ontario so I'm not going anywhere. If I were forced to move, I'd pick Ottawa or Kingston (both also in Ontario, of course). Out of province, my first choice would be Halifax for sure (all of Nova Scotia is pretty special) and probably St. John or Charlottetown next. On the west coast, Victoria just edges out Vancouver in my books. A little surprised that Quebec is first in your ranking but I do love visiting there. Alberta is gorgeous but culturally it's vibe is more American than Canadian. Anyone else find that?
