Quality of studies by all these colleges is zero and students cannot speak up due to fear of being deported . It’s a mafia making money exploiting poor kids. The residents of Punjab state in India are completely obsessed with Canada. It’s to the extent of madness. \nIt’s not that their future was any brighter in punjab . There is a big change happening. At my university in Vancouver, masters were mostly Indian ? and even undergraduate is also like 100% International students. The difference is the school has several branches located in NJ, Canada, and the UK. I've never heard of a negative event happening though. interesting

I would like to add that same happened to me in my father's case who passed away. The officer was hostile for no good reason, not once but twice. I am still trying to get any information from them. He openly threatened me that he will not provide me with any information and that he is the only point of contact to get information. Why? I still struggle to understand. If they can abuse their power to hold death over someone, why not right? Like the lady, I had provided extensive documentation still threats. He accused me of random things, spoke in a very condescending tone from hello. He was extremely upset about me calling from USA for whatever reason. I fail to understand where is humanity.

The Canadian government is well aware of the scam private colleges and that the majority of these students aren’t getting an education and are just cheap labour for Canada. The Minister’s feigned shock that it’s happening is pathetic. The fact that Canada didn’t sign the Code of Conduct that other countries did says it all. If Canada is so interested in cheap labour, then just issue closed work permits with a path to permanent residency. Why make them spend tens of thousands of dollars and put their families into debt at useless private colleges?

This also happens in Australia, New Zealand the UK a lot. Indian students being lied to and taken advantage of.

Well many people unaware of the religious custom might get frightened, it's a real knife after all , people can't be blamed , specially considering what happens US schools.Also having many Sikh friends i know that , it isn't customary for him to carry the knife out of any religious obligation that too in a school. None of my friends do so , they only use it in special occasions like marriages

It’s no completely insane for this to happen. Most colleges are gun free campuses, where a maniac with a weapon won’t be easily stopped. So naturally they have to take precautions.

I am an Indian and even I will not support this. Religion should be followed in homes and not in institutions like colleges. The educational institution can have its own rules. Incidents of rage can happen at any time and can not be predicted.

I speak for myself and not on behalf of anyone.\n\nFirstly, in any such situation be it any religion, caste etc, before reacting, imagine if this was happening to your own son/daughter, your own brother/sister. \n\nSecondly what faith one chooses to practice and how they embrace it, be it wearing a kirpan, a burqa, or keeping a shika(choti), etc, especially opinions like what one can or cannot wear/do, lead to more harm than good. We don't live there, it's not our religion, it's not our life, then who are we to condemn and be opinionated about them.\n\nThirdly, whether the kirpan should be allowed inside an educational campus can only be determined by the campus authorities, the local police and the Sikh community representatives there.\n\nYes, he could have and should have worn it on the inside just like so many Brahmins wear the sacred white thread (yajnopavita).\n\nHe could have taken prior permission from the college authorities to freely wear it if possible and all this could have been avoided. so in US they will not going to protest..but if it happens in INDIA they will surely...i don't know why people become so tolerant in US. And kirpan is a weapon for self defence not any religious importance as such...and if it has importance then it's better to carry one made from plastic so that other people don't scare of it.
