Refugees, please consider coming to The Battlefords, Saskatchewan. We have affordable housing and a labor shortage. If you go to University in Saskatchewan the government will cancel most of your student debts if you choose to stay and live in the province for up to 5 years. The province and many smaller communities, like mine, have rebates if you build your own house or start a business here. Lots of perks that other provinces do not offer.

I think relocating to Canada and subsequently leaving is a product of not having proper information or having a misconception about a western country before moving there in the first place. There's an emphasis of 'you really have to work hard' for new immigrants which they generally take for granted. Quite frankly, only sincere people empathize on hardwork. I find that most people seeking suggestion/advice always want to start from the top to bottom rather than bottom to top. Every society has it's own challenges. New immigrants who have just been in Canada for only 3years get frustrated while comparing themselves with people who have lived in Canada for 15 years. Growth is a gradually process, when it's automatic it's too good to be true!! All these similar countries run the say type of system, you gotta love where you chose to live. With that being said, we will continue to welcome new immigrants who re willing to start from the beginning to grow their dreams and wave goodbye to people who came and decided to leave. It's the same in US. I am a registered nurse in the US. I make $2000 a week and pay $700 taxes, my take home is $1300/wk. From there I pay other bills. The higher you earn the higher your taxes. Some weeks I make almost $4000 as a travel nurse. You make the money but after all deductions you'll be left with little. But you'll still enjoy this taxes when you retire as social security income. If you don't want to comply to their rules and regulations you better stay in your country. I did nursing in Nigeria and took and passed my NCLEX here and started working as a registered nurse.

I wish young intelligent afrikans like you ladies would promote moving to Afrika and help build our Continent. I live in Canada currently, I moved from Toronto to Edmonton (pay less taxes then Ontario). It's easier and faster to get your papers in Canada than the US which means you can start working your way back to your original profession. The fact that Canada is immigrant friendly and has a large immigrant population makes it easier for one to go into any profession with your Nigerian certificates and a little more Canadian education. As a lawyer, I'm yet to meet a Nigerian trained lawyer who got a job in a top firm in the US. It's probably easier in Canada

These taxes are also used to take care of immigrants when they just come in e.g., the free healthcare. Hence as an immigrant when you finally start working it makes sense to pay back so others can enjoy what you've enjoyed. It's the same way in the US. Hence it's funny when immigrants complain. My wife, my 3 kids and I used to like Vancouver but not anymore!!! The weather is why we plan to leave for good but also the expensive rents! I also heard about horror stories at many hospitals (and yes, I have worked in Africa and to be honest, Africans hospitals are way more functional than the ones in Canada in terms of human aspect… there they care, Canadians do not give a shit about anyone!!! None of us at work , including me, want to retire or get old here in Canada! Ive lived coast to coast. Alberta in my opinion is overrated. BC is stunning. Newfoundland is beautiful and the most amazing people in the world. Nova Scotia is one of the most underrated provinces in Canada. People are just now starting to slowly catch on to how great it is. Canada has no culture of its own. People from all around the world gathered here to escape wars, political issues, or for economic reasons from their home country. When honeymoon period is over (around 5 years) they start realizing that leaving behind their own people, culture, festivals, food, etc was not a good idea. Life in Canada (maybe in United States too) is very monotonous and robotic. Years and years go by\nand people are doing same thing over and over. Weather is very unpredictable to plan out anything in advanced. Due to bad weather entire country is designed to be indoors. People leave their wooden houses in cars to work in buildings with no open windows. Unless you leave in core downtown you won't see people on road as everybody is either in their vehicles, in their house, or slaving away at work. To all people who are looking to relocate to Canada: If you are doing well in your home country then do not leave. Life in western countries look good from far but when you live here it's different. Loneliness and depression will be your biggest enemy. Stay in your home country around your own culture and people.

I am a Registered Nurse in the Philippines, then migrated in Canada in 2014, and become Canadian Citizen in 2020. I tried to be a Nurse in Canada, but it was extremely difficult.. Fastforward, I got to enrol in a bridging program for International Nurses in 2020 in Ontario and I was so happy! When I was about to start the program, COVId hit and they cancelled the school.. Not knowing if I could secure a seat in the program (the usual waiting time for the seat is 3-5years!) I decided to just moved to US and work as an RN.. But I really miss Canada, planning to live near the border, but the rentals are 3-4x expensive compare to US! Canada is becoming more and more expensive too.. ?
