This area was conquered by the British in 1820s, & with the British came a lot of non-native peoples (mostly Bengali speaking people), thereby making the noatives absolutely hate their presence. Following the Partition of India, many Bengali Hindus fleeing persecution migrated to Northeast India, fuelling further unrest. Those who were unable to prove their citizenship ended up rounded in detention centres, eventually to be deported out, which at that time many in Europe & USA had compared with Nazi concentration camps. \nIt would be interesting to see whether this same Nazi analogy is drawn up in case of the Trump administration doing the same as what happened in India.
