The United States did not start a trade war with Canada, Trump did. The American people love Canadians. Trump is not the US.

We, the Americans who value what our country has stood for, whose fathers & and grandfathers fought in both World Wars, who lived in the time before all of the current vaccines existed, who believe in equality, who value the immigrants--documented or undocumented, who believe our country should welcome them & make their paths to citizenship easier because we understand how our country & economy benefit from them living in this country, who understand & value the roles that the WHO, NATO, & the United Nations have played in keeping us ALL safer for many decades bc we REMEMBER or were told by our parents, what it was like b4 those things existed, who either lived thru The Great Depression or had parents & grandparents did, understand what the economic crisis that Trump & his band of greedy ahole idiots are deliberately causing. WE didn't do this. WE fought against it. We tried to explain & warn people about what is happening & what will happen, but you didn't EFFING LISTEN. WE are ANGRY. WE will NOT help any of you who caused this & this includes every MSM who is too afraid to speak truth to power. Start doing that NOW. Start with THIS: It's called The Gulf of Mexico, NOT the Gulf of America. Eff every Trump supporters & GOP politician--at EVERY level of government. Trump can TRY to hide what he's doing to the economy in his stupid reports. Do you honestly believe the average American pays attention to those? No, most are too busy worrying over how to pay their bills & all they'll see is that their situation is getting worse. They can't find a job. They can't afford gas. They can't afford groceries. You can't cover any of that up. WE stand with Canada, Ukraine, the EU, & every other ally nation. Not Russia. Putin can go straight to hell & the sooner the better.

Tariffs on Canada would likely reduce real gross domestic product to zero in 2025 if implemented beyond a year and lead to a 2% contraction in 2026 with a peak unemployment rate of more than 8%. Trump told Canada if you did TWO THINGS, there would be no tariffs on Canada. One, stop illegal immigrants from pouring into the USA from Canada. Two, stop illegal drugs from coming into the USA from Canada. Did Trudeau comply with President Trump's request? If so, there must be a lack of communication to verify what has transpired. If not, then Trump imposed tariffs for lack of compliance. Now, if Canada has already complied yet the Trump admin imposed tariffs anyway, then that is a slap in the face to our neighbors to the north and the American people should be outraged and let Trump know it.

Trump is a total disaster for all Americans except the $Billionaires. But it wasn't the $Billionaires who voted Trump into office, it was the millions of MAGA Morons, the very people who are now losing their jobs in thousands as Musk takes an axe to everything. Tariffs on America's main trading partners means that the American consumers, many of them MAGA Morons, are going to be hit a lot harder in the pocket as prices on their goods rocket. I only feel sorry for the Americans, who saw this coming and voted against Trump. For all the MAGA Morons, don't cry help, you brought this on yourself !!! Here in the UK we support Canada 100% !!!

Trudeau cares more about me and my fellow Americans than Trump does!! Trump needs to take a page (maybe an encyclopedia set) on leadership from Trudeau! Notice that he is doing all he can to protect Canadian jobs and people during this trade while Trump is firing hundreds of thousands of American workers, causing the layoffs of more, and doesn't give a hoot about tanking the economy! As an American, I stand with Canada. I am worried, but someone needs to stand up to Trump. I am sorry that it is not the US. So many people still support him and I just don’t understand it.

Watching in Hungary/Slovakia: Amazing speech - hope it's understandable also to many Americans. They need to understand it before they feel the impact of Trump's trade war w/ his frm allies. Tarifs are taxes. If the US and Canada both increase taxes, the only loosers will be the American and the Canadian people. The States of both countries will be fine. They'll be even richer.

As an individual Japanese, I cannot stand the current US president and vice president. I demand an impeachment trial. In order to protect America and the American people, these two people who do not call Russia a dictatorship, call Ukraine a dictatorship, and refuse to use Russia's frozen assets should be impeached. As an American and a Trump supporter, I agree with these tariffs, but only equal to the tariffs other countries charge the United States on our imports. I do not agree with imposing this on our brothers and sisters to the north. I’m speaking of the good people of Canada. I have traveled to Canada and crossing the border was just like crossing into another state. Yes, there was a border gate which there should be, but I had absolutely no problem whatsoever. I hope our government can work this out very quickly and stop this foolishness. But to countries like China and Europe the United States should charge a reciprocal tariff as to what you charge us on our import. It’s only fair. Why are we paying an exuberant tariff for our goods entering your country and you expect to pay nothing with your goods entering ours. I’m an American. I admire Canada as an Ally and neighbor. I can’t imagine a better international neighbor to have. The people there are kind and strong. While I don’t agree with Trumps tariffs, I understand why he’s doing them. As a Canadian citizen, please don’t glamorize Trudeau- hes a spoiled rotten brat of a former PM. Nothing more. You’ve not lived the last 10 years under his totalitarian govt, suspending the rights of Canadians at will, insulting and dividing our country at will, taking away legal firearms owners rights rights at will (people who had to pass safety courses and are more vetted than RCMP officers). \n\nHe’s proven to be more fake than a $3 dollar bill. All the liberal & ndp’s in Canada are. He has the worst record in Canadian history as a PM, including the highest taxes, home prices, massive, unsustainable immigration, and the worst healthcare crisis in Canada’s socialized medical system since its inception. \n\nHe’s accumulated more debt than all previous PM’s COMBINED (as per the PBO). \n\nThen he comes on here after he resigned on Jan.6th - yes after cratering Canada’s economy methodically for the last 10 yrs - to inflame the POTUS and who will pay for that? Canadian and American working class citizens. \n\nIf you think Canada is so great, you’re either a wealthy boomer, or have no clue what it’s like to work for a living in this modern economy in Canada. People are required to work 2-3 jobs just to afford the basics. Wages have been stagnant since the 90’s here, with cost of living rising 600-700% in the last 10 yrs.

As a Canadian who lives in (largely French-speaking) Quebec, I don't know if our gov't even NEEDS to tariff American consumer goods, the people here are already boycotting US goods and companies en masse. EVERYBODY is doing it - and the pace isn't going to recede anytime soon. Even after the Orange Turd is long gone, trust me, Canadians will remember this! The American state has proven it cannot be trusted. They have unilaterally broken the trade agreement (negotiated by the previous Donald J Chump administration) on the flimsiest of reasons, the 00.2 % of fentanyl that flows over the border into the US from Canada. That deal now obviously not worth the paper it was signed on.

When trump recommended terrifs everyone cried “oh that will only hurt Americans” but then Canada does it in response and everyone cheers? Like isn’t he by your own logic now screwing Canadians? Which is it people?

The American people love Canada… Please know that these reckless tariff actions are not supported by most Americans… not only do they damage the relationships of our closest allies, they do not work. They are simply a tax which is ultimately born by the American people.
