I am an American. I want the world to know that Trump doesn't speak for all of us. I am ashamed that stupidity won the last election. I apologize to Canada, Mexico, and the free world for Trump. Resist, Stay Calm and Carry On. American will return

Trump doesn't care who he hurts. He and Vance stand by Putin! Trump should have negotiated with Canada and not threatened to start a war with Us.. more than a trade war. Trump wants to help Putin take Ukraine and then he hopes his buddy Putin will help annex Canada! It will be war.. we will not give Canada to backstabbers and murderers!

It is sad but this is exactly what Trump is wanting. He is creating chaos and attacking our friends so he can create an emergency and declare martial law. In effect Trump is becoming a dictator who aligns with Russia and will be Putin's puppet. Great speech from PM Trudeau. I support Canada and all actions they take against Trump, regardless of how that will hurt us. This is ALL Trump's fault.

If the Canadian government wants to compete commercially with the US government, it doesn't have to threaten the American people that it will increase inflation in America. What Canada has to do is comply with what the US government has told it. The US has told Canada to stop drug trafficking from Canada to the US. That's all. But they haven't done it. Canada won't gain anything by threatening the US.

As a US citizen who voted for Trump, I have no idea why Trump impose tariffs on Canada. Why can’t Trump just ask Canada straight if he wants something done by Canada? Does he want to limit Chinese products through Canada?

If I was Canada I would put the army on standby. I don't trust the US at all. \nThey will come for your assets just like they said about Greenland and how they wanted to get assets of Ukraine. \nSame with Russia for the EU.\nAlthough Russia is small/overrated player.

We don’t want this either Canada, at least not the majority of us. I’m sorry for the mess we’ve brought to you and hope our government can move swiftly to “correct” this issue that is the orange blob in the White House

It should be no surprise that our leadership chooses to blame all of our problems on someone else, because that's exactly what they do every day. We have a drug problem, it's because of Canada and Mexico. We have an immigration problem, likewise Mexico and Canada. We have a deficit problem, that's because of the EU and NATO. Our problem is our government, specifically Republicans who won't accept the simple truth: you want to solve problems you have be disciplined and smart. You have to spend money to fix your problems instead of blaming some else and trying to get them to pay for it. You pay to solve your problems instead of giving huge tax cuts to people who don't need them. You stop lying to your people. You want to change the trade imbalance? Build products that other countries want at a price that makes sense. The EU has no laws that prevent American car manufacturers from selling their cars in Europe. American car companies make shitty cars. They make cars that are too big, that don't make sense for European where streets can be very small and gas is very expensive. The US manufacturers don't make a single small car in thos country that can compete with European cars. US agricultural products are laced with poisonous chemicals that are outlawed in the EU because they kill people. Our governmeent doesn't give a shit about that because to grow healthy food means you have to cut profits, almighty dollars, instead of grow things that the rest of the world will accept. We have an idiot for president who thinks he knows more than anyone else and an idiot party that won't tell him the truth. This is going to cost us big time. We are going into recession, probably a long one because we don't have real leaders and the president on his best day is nothing more than a reality TV personality, and not a very entertaining one at that.

Trump wants to cripple Canada economically so that his billionare buddies can buy us up for pennies on the dollar. He's working with Putin to divide up the world and take the spoils by force.

I grew up hearing lots of hate bout USA cuz the US doesn't exactly have a good rep in foreign policies - always bullying other nations, starting wars for oil etc. but I've always preferred USA not just for the world order it brings, it allows different voices, criticism & scolding towards its leaders compared to China, Russia & North Korea. \n\nin the US, you can talk bad bout politicians in power, or probably make movies bout these kind of things like US invading other countries for oil, or testing out some cruel AI military robots on humans (movie name: Monsters of Man), & you won't be persecuted. but after looking at a bunch of executive orders Trump has signed, the way he (& JD Vance) treated Zelenski & Canada, I don't know if I still feel the same bout USA anymore.\n\nif USA doesn't wanna continue spending on Ukraine, perhaps USA shouldn't have sweet talked Ukraine into denuclearization thru the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. that's what you get for mendling with other countries' affairs. by stopping US aid & wanting a new mineral deal, Trump's refusing to follow the Memorandum (I added this sentence thru edit as I can't reply to the comment below).\n\nunderstandably, US & UK don't need to deploy troops in Ukraine as the security assurance in the memorandum wasn't clearly defined, but it also didn't mention that Ukraine should pay the US back financially, nor any mineral concessions. \n\nTrump always wanting a purely 1 sided deal will only isolate USA from more allies.

While I am going to financially suffer from this, I want to see our country start new deals with Europe and Asia. Until tRump is gone and ALL of his minions have left office, I don't want to see any deals with the US. \nWe knew Trump wanted to destroy Canada financially. This was NOT about fentynal.\nWe have enough wood, enough oil, and enough resources to establish good relationships around the world. And sustain fellow Canadians.

What has Canada and European countries done to actually try and end the death and destruction from this war? Europe buys energy from Russia, and Canada is only giving 650 million dollars in weapons over three years, while America has supplied hundreds of billions of dollars in aid and military equipment. Zelensky goes around the world dressed in a military outfit with no desire to stop the slaughter of humans on both sides. There have been thousands of wars where, eventually, one side has to accept the reality that they can not win, Zelensky is unwilling to see this. President Trump was elected because we want his AMERICA FIRST AGENDA, and with us saddled with 36 TRILLION dollars of debt, this war needs to stop.

Who owns the majority of the stock market? Who cares. More than half of us don't own stocks. As for Canada, Trump is doing what he thinks is best for Americans not Canada. Not any talk here on why Trump did this and no one here seems to want to know. Let the talking heads that own tons of stocks through Black Rock tell you all you need to stay in the dark.

In Canada you do not have freedom of speech, they will send you to re-education! Ask Jordan Peterson! In Canada you don’t have 2nd amendment either, as Canada has no such law for self defense with a firearm, in Canada the Government can seize your bank accounts and bankrupt you if you protest! For all of you supporting Zelenskyy, the man cannot even account for $100 billions -- yes, billions with a B -- given to his country, and his stupidity plays right into the hands of starting WWIII, if we're not in it already. Ukraine is just another source of money laundering, and here we are just willing to give more and more money without any result, except for dead bodies. There is nothing wrong for wanting peace. You can't negotiate with only one side. And for Canada, Canada has been charging us high tariffs for years, but no one has pointed out that unfairness.

Curious, what is a better solution to tariffs already imposed by Canada on the US? It's amazing that Canada's solution is to argue there is no justification...I'd ask Trudeau, what does Trump want? Is is unreasonable or not...if it is unreasonable, tell us why....because one thing about Trump, he is usually pretty darn clear about what he wants.

Canada and Mexico are not responsible for the people in the US who chose to use drugs. In fact, it's the United States job to keep illegal drugs and immigrants out of the US and they are doing a poor job of it and need someone else to blame. Mexico could retaliate in a way that could flood the US with illegal drugs and immigrants and refuse to repatriate its citizens back into Mexico. The rest of Central and South America could do the same in support of Mexico. They need to get Trump out of office before he ruins America.\nI remember the press conference with the USA (Trump), Canada and Mexico when signing the new trade agreement during Trump last time in office. Trump proudly stated that this is the greatest agreement in the history of the United States. Last week he wanted to know who in the US agreed to the terrible trade agreement. He is losing his mind and cognitive function is deteriorating at a rapid rate. Re-negotiating contracts after the work is complete is how Trump ran his businesses. He has bankrupted many small businesses by not paying them knowing that they do not have the money to go to court. He is only rich because of daddy's money otherwise he would have never survived his many bankruptcies. Thats why no one will loan him money. I can't wait until he screws over the government of Saudi Arabia with one of his shady business deals. Anyone remember what happened to Khashoggi for just authoring a bad article on Saudi's Leaders. I don't know why the US government wants Canada. Logically speaking, it will be the bluest of blue states. Think of the consequences. Annexation could be the biggest of own-goals.

With these tariffs and lack of diplomacy with Ukraine we will probably see US Companies start moving to Canada, as well as foreign partners of US switching to Canada. Trump is too chaotic and disruptive, which is awful for any company wanting to grow in the US.

I was almost born in Canada but because of an thyroid illness they did not aprove my mom to come to Canada (late 50`s) So my dad and grandfather decided to stay in the Netherlands. I have a soft spot for Canada........ could have been my home country. Good luck to all of us against dictators and bullies in this world. The tariffs are reciprocal. If they want lower tariffs with the US they need to lower their tariffs. Screw Canada

México nowdays has a efficient, knowledgeable. and honest president that wanted to have fair trade agreements with Canada and the United States ...however the US government choose to fight and blame the neighbors to the north and south by braking every single rule of the free trade among the three countries ......CHINA , CANADA AND MEXICO ....oviously will retaliate the same way and Definitely the US citizens will be the most hurt ....mexico always have been resilient from wars. If look at another perspective, if Trump did not impose tarrifs, then Canada will continue to sell the cars back to US for high profits. Trump mentioned about this, he is not happy. Actually I can understand Trump and what he is trying to do. If he is not harsh, Canada will never change taking advantage of US, not spending on own military.... Etc.
