It was just unfortunate that you did not get enough time to settle down. Moving to any new place is extremely tough and especially when you are moving to a completely new city. I live in Germany and I love it here. My wife and I came here to study, but my wife came first and she had a really bad first 6 months in winter. Things got much better later. We Indians miss house help so much in early days, but the fact is you have so much free time here and things are well organized. You don't waste time in traffic, you don't have to go 10 times to a government office to get work done, you don't have to sit with kids everyday to do homework, kids can come and go to school on their own, there is little dust so houses don't get dirty every day, everything is planned and no one is visiting your house suddenly. So in reality, doing the house chores aren't such a big deal because you have a lot of time.

I came to Canada as a teen back in the early 80s, and can say the the problem with Canada is it's a small country pretending to be large.\nSmall population, large land mass. So we bring in more immigrants, most of which are low value.\nMost companies don't manufacture or do R&D here. They just cell into a small market. Large land, small population will not support efficient supply chain based business. Telecom, insurance, and many businesses charge high fees, due to small market.\nWe stick our nose in world affairs that have little to do with us. China, Europe, and the middle east.\nOur economy can support some amount of population effectively, so why grow beyond what we can support.\nWe should be like Norway. Healthy rich economy, small population, no issues.\nNo we have to pretend we are the US, or Germany or China.\nThat's what's wrong

Canada has been sold from us Canadians by our greedy politicians and corporate interests. This idea that Canada just needs to build more homes is insane. There are millions of new immigrants, student visas, and illegal borders crossings every year. Most of Canada is desolate frozen tundra, rocky mountain, bog, dense forest, and the few spots where the weather is moderate everyone wants to live. People dont want more homes to be built because we can already barely drive anywhere due to traffic congestion, no one has doctors anymore, water restrictions start in early spring, no room for kids in schools. Everything is over crowded and over priced because theres way too many people here in a short amount of time and the infrastructure isnt close to being able to support it. The only ones benefitting from these out of control immigration practices are multi national corporate interests looking for a large cheap labour pool.

I think, that like so many other democracies, that corporate capture of government has been on going since the early 1980s and this then enables more, what was in the past considered, criminality.

I think you could say the same for every first world countries major cities. Immigrates first consideration should be to improve their opportunities in their home country and avoid migration. \n\nFirst generation immigrants to Canada going back to the early 1900’s had a very difficult life and often only their children benefit. Many immigrants come to Canada with the sole purpose of obtaining a passport for ticket out of their political unstable native country if it goes south.

Well it’s something good that you have shared , yes you can’t have the privilege of keeping a maid / can’t have the cake and eat it too , India has its own pros and cons and so dose Canada . I have lived and worked in UK never had any issues , as had to come back home due to family reasons but it all depends on an individual plus if you are ready to accept challenges even I am planning to migrate to canada in my early 30s with a kid let’s c how it goes , but I have kept my window to return back in case if I didn’t like it . There was an asian ESL language teacher woman in 2016 in west hill high school who was 100% rassist vs white students she went so faar she forced an older student to sign a paper about he not wanna parcipiate in ESL school anymore. Another catholic school Mary Ward LINC & ESL Centre 44 Kelvinway Drive, Scarborough, ON M1W 1N6 had teacher woman who forced jewish and muslim students to parcipiate in christmas celebration. So half of that class leaved that catholic school. there theyre went so faar theyre not let an israelite student to study there and forced the best teacher to go to go to her early pension status becouse she was liberal and backed many students there before. Theyre even maybe sent message to other catholic school to bully that student. He not went to any catholic school anymore in toronto even if those were at last not so faar from his living place.

I think I don't need to move foreign country. \nmy background is in South Korea but I can say living in Toronto Canada was horrible and harsh for Korean. Because of multiple reasons but the harsh weather is the biggest for me. Feels like winter in Toronto is 7~8 months long if I compare it to winter in Korea. Fall and Spring?? No, they don't have fall and spring and it's all winter. they have snow in early September late April or May. It was horribly hard because the cold air from the arctic and really powerful wind came all together. even though the weather and temperature look a little bit off from Korea, Canada has a much more harsh location with weather. not only harsh weather but they do provide really embarrassing experience such as expensive payment for everything, a lot of factors disturb me from leaking money. I don't think Canada is a good country. my view of this country totally has been changed 3 years ago.

i first saw u, watching one of your travel vlogs a few years ago, and i have to say... i still love u! :) i came across this video doing my personal research on why a close friend of mine who emigrated to canada in 2009, is now trying desperately to turn back. Actualy all my friends who emigrated to canada in early 2000's are already back. I see we exeprience all over the planet the same cost of living problem, but what hapenes in canada is quite hard to endure

Firstly it’s not easy but at the end of it is would have been worthwhile it especially for your kids. Besides 2 months is too early to judge and make such a big decision. Lastly no one calls people to their country it your choice… you should be grateful you had family it was way easier for you. Fixing things is something you do anywhere in the world. Basement stay was a choice you should rent a house if you could afford it. Education system has changed world wide. Job should be an affiliate certification world recognized if not you start a level lower. Like u said your kids it was good that is the reason you should have stayed. Road rules again worldwid. You should have stayed for your kids

Glad Im in Canada. My son came 3 weeks early. I had chosen to use a midwife and have a home birth. After 30 hours of intese labour and no baby coming, we went to the hospital. When I asked for drugs, transfer of care. They noticed the baby was breach. In rushed the top 3 OBGYN and I had an emergency csection. Followed up by a week stay in the hospital while my premature baby was under a lamp for jaundice. They let my husband stay in the hospital room for us so gave us a private room. Total cost? Nothing

I am Canadian. In 1961 I had a baby girl. In those day you had to stay in the hospital for 5 days. It didn't cost me anything. Then in 1962 I had a baby boy. Same thing; 5 days, no cost. In the early 70's I had to be in hospital to have all of my wisdom teeth removed. No cost. Then in the mid 80's I had major surgery and several days in hospital. No charge. Now that I am in my 80's and very healthy, I get a yearly check up. No charge. I love Canada.

You should also check reactions from USers who moved in Canada. Having lived first in the US they should have a different pov. I have a friend who came from Michigan in the early 90's and stayed here, I know she wouldn't go back. She even learned french and she's good.

My Canadian brother and his wife left Canada and moved to the U.S. when they were in their early 40's. They prospered and grew their careers for 15 years before deciding to return to Canada. In Canada they would have been considered politically Conservative and religiously as far-right Evangelical Christians, but they found their American neighbors to be off the charts in both categories. They remained in Canada for only 3 years before packing; up and moving back to the U.S. Their main reason was monetary. My brother's wife, who is a doctor, paid $27 thousand dollars less, per year in income tax in the U.S.A. Their 6,000 square foot luxury home in the U.S. cost them about $700K dollars and the equivalent in Canada was $2.4 Million dollars. Since his wife is a doctor, the U.S. healthcare system was not an issue for them, because as a doctor, she had the ultimate American healthcare insurance paid by her employer. They admitted that they had healthcare that was superior to that held by 98% of other Americans. I suspect they will remain in the U.S. for the future. Over the years they have adopted the unique American language and accent, so they now live unnoticed and unrecognizable as Canadians. lol

do you think you took the decision too early? i mean 2-3 months is too early to give up? i think kids safety would be 1st priority for me personally in comparision with few years struggle! You may have faced something different i am not aware of though!!

don't count a place out until you've been there. yeah toronto is seeing more crime and is more expensive than ever, but e.g., vancouver, which is a lot smaller, more peaceful, easier to get around, may actually still not be necessarily better (real estate is just as expensive, hard to make friends, rains and snows in the winter now, everything closes super early), but you really gotta try a place and go with where you love. LA is full of problems, but I really love it there.

Thanks for your review ..... But I think you concluded too early during your hard time....you need atleast six months to adjust with such a major change and settle down. Two months is nothing and it's hard to understand everything in this limited time.

I was born and raised in Toronto but left in the early 2000s because I saw the writing in the wall back then. Every time I go back to visit I find it more crowded, more dirtier, more dangerous and just generally unpleasant. It used to be a nice city but no longer. I wouldn’t go back to live there.

So I came back to Shanghai from Toronto, here in any city you can go out at one in the morning, and even the streets of many cities in the early hours of the morning are full of snacks and people sitting on the streets drinking beer and eating together, I was just discussing the convenience and safety of life, and I know there are some people who have never been here who try to dismiss my life with information on the news?

While it’s a good country to come when you’re young, it’s hard for old people to adjust, especially the weather.\n\nI feel you got tired too early, just because you had to do all your work yourself. 100% correct assessment. I am here for last 25 years, came with family leaving a good job at early forty. It is tough for 1st generation of immigrant but good for the next generation. There is opportunity of growth and success if become a canadian professional and hard/smart work habit. My children are wel settled now. So, if you are well off in india and not ready for facing tough life initial years, then pl.dont venture ,as to have better life in canada you need canadian education and the cdn. experience. I used to love working in down town Toronto in the 90's and early 2000's. I haven't worked in down town town Toronto on a daily basis since 2011. Still work from home, but had to go into the office a couple days thus far this year and I was disgusted!!! I was stressed, my skin crawled when I got home. As far as I am concerned, down town Toronto is a dumpster fire.

When I came here in Canada 33 years ago, I went do in legal process,My first employer offered me a job offer to come here in Canada,I went to whole legal process here,but I obeyCanadian law to have legal working visa ,and since day one paying taxes ,i earn my hard work after 30 years and receive early pension and still work in a full time job, My advice to illegal migrants follow what Canadian laws and go through legal process and crossing the right border to pass Not to way try find asylum to be free in every thing, in tax payers money.

I think you made fantastic decision to move back to India. \nWe moved to Newzealand in my early 20s from India. I'm an electronics engineer. I had 2 kids with no moral support from anyone in a foreign country, it's hard. I never wanted to live in a foreign country but my husband insisted only 2 years & we will go back......but ................fast forward, 25 years later, my kids grew up in Newzealand & they love Newzealand and don't want to move anywhere else in the world. We are Newzealand citizens now. I still think of India because I have my siblings there. But, once you are settled in a foreign country, believe me, you can't go back to India. All the best to you and your family. You have done a great decision of moving back because it gets harder later when kids grow up ???

For the first time this summer we saw a young man (early 20s) smoking crack in public in one of the poshest neighbourhoods in Toronto: Yorkville, right outside of the exit to the subway. Normal people are leaving Toronto because Toronto is not Normal.

I landed in Toronto in 1984, it was clean, safe and affordable. I was able to support myself going to university in the early 90’s working part-time as a waitress. Tuition was much cheaper back then and of top of that I was able to get a grant from the government (which was scrapped I believe). I used to walk down Yonge Street late at night with friends until we reached College Street to go have breakfast at the Golden Griddle on Carton Street. I miss the Maple Leaf Gardens and the CNE Grandstand. There were no shootings at nightclubs when I went dancing. Then things started getting really bad, the cost of living and the violence skyrocketed so I decided to move to Quebec City at the end of 2014. I worked hard on my French and now I am a civil servant for the Quebec Government. I have no regrets. I am lucky to have known Toronto The Good. US is far better for individuals who wants to grow and work on themselves. I lived in US for 2 years and I got the best education learned a lot and met one of the most ambitious people. I always was motivated to do more. US boosted my education and career. Unfortunately I couldn’t stay there due to immigration issues. I moved to Canada and I am here for almost 5 years now and I am still struggling just to make ends meet. Every day I am looking for ways to get out of here back to US or elsewhere. Legalization of drugs, prohibitably expensive housing, poor access to health care, lack of availability of well paying jobs, massive intake of immigrants, overtaxation and fewer businesses opportunities. Canada was great place to live back in 1990s and early 2000s. Everything is going downhill after 2018. Immediately they need to fix immigration, taxation, healthcare, housing, drugs, and support small businesses.Else, Canada will continue to be the place of broken dreams.

I enjoyed my time in Canada, moved here in 2012. the people are friendly didn't experience any racism or discrimination. Early life in Canada was a bit of a struggle but after a couple of years, I settled down.

As a somewhat successful tech person who came from nothing, I refuse to move out of a city to a culturally or globally lacking city due to “budget”. I tried spending time in BC and Nova Scotia in the capital cities. I could not spend more than a week in Saskatchewan. I can assure you that someone with decent skills and lifestyle would not be able to sustain their social and personal life, and mental health anywhere in Canada other than Toronto. If I spoke decent French, I’d say Montreal is a decent option. Vancouver is too lopsided as an international real estate haven, even though beautiful. So the problem is that Toronto is honestly the only city someone like me (and most my friends) would consider living in Canada, and we are all unfortunately being forced to move to the US. We are in our very early 30s so it’s still not too late to have a big move but none of us wanted to try out NYC or SFO much later than now. I hope things improve and we are able to move back to Toronto. But right now, unless you make $300k+, it’s impossible. And we are only able to make that money in the US (most of us). Honestly this breaks my heart man. India should put strictures on what colleges can set shop. Put a very high premium on them. And people need to start realising that Indian cities have the goods to offerif you work hard during early education. Canada is easy copout. Do not sell your lands and take Hefty loans!

I am a male Black Canadian in my retirement years ; I can tell you this Nigerian lady is really courageous . NEVER come to Canada during the winter season, try to be at the beginning of Spring ( May 15-30).\nIf you are a married couple in your early twenties without kids, Canada can be interesting providing that both of the two are earning good income ( pharmacist, university graduate in Accounting, engineer).

The homeless situation is man made created by Liberals. They opened boarder to the every one from across the world specially from African countries who flew their country for crimes.. Now its all over.. They also brought almost 2 million student without any housing and healthcare fix. I lived in TO and loved the multiculturalism, but the rate of demographic change needs to be managed and new immigrants properly supported and integrated. With the mass immigration of the past 2 decades, with a great share of the immigrants moving to TO and the GTA, what made TO great has been destroyed. Especially with the pressure on rents and house prices as the population sky rocketed. In the early 1990s TO was a great middle class city, now its just like other cities with the rich doing well and the rest struggling to hang on. Left in 2017 and will not be going back.
