As a born and raised Canadian I made the decision to flee my homeland of 42 years the moment that the current regime came to power in 2015. I ended a highly successful, well-paid 20+ year career, sold everything I owned and was gone within six months. I am not a religious person, so that did not factor into my decision, though I knew what was coming since I had lived for years as a member of a minority that was constantly demonized by former Liberal rulers for decades.\n\nI completely understand your reasons for leaving and wish you all the best. Canada was a great place to grow up in and I wouldn't trade that experience for the world, but to say that it is now going through a process of state-funded and engineered societal decay would be an extreme understatement. It breaks my heart to see what's become of my once wonderful nation, but I've resolved to treat it like a deceased parent who lives on in fond memories, but is never coming back.\n\nI hope you find the ideal sanctuary for you and your children away from the madness plaguing the world these days and I am eager to see where your journey takes you. I don't think it's just a Toronto problem. It's Canada problem. All new immigrants that is brought by our government are settling in Toronto and Vancouver. That's why rent prices are ridiculous. Economy is in shi..t after 8 years of Trudeau. Everything is a disaster after him. I would say don't move to Canada, not just to Toronto.

People have to stop using rental prices in cities like Toronto and Vancouver. That's like Americans using rental costs in Bel-Air California or Manhattan as an example of what rent costs in America. It's not a realistic portrayal of rental costs. \nHere in Quebec the the annual tax rate is between 26.53% and 53.31%, depending on income. Then you have to consider all the socialist programs that you are forced to pay into, which also sucks up a significant amount on your weekly salary. After that, you must consider that you pay 15% sales tax on almost everything. It's safe to say that half of your yearly earnings, give or take, are taken in taxes and socialized programs. As for salaries, less than 20% of the Canadian population make a 6 figure salary. We're not talking about household income. I am talking about individual income. You're not going to become rich here in Canada! The majority of people who do become rich leave Canada to avoid taxation. Canadians live a life of debt. You will live just balancing your debt to make sure it doesn't get out of control Few Canadians have money in savings without debt. The ones who do have money saved, most of them have debts on top of their savings which is counterproductive in my opinion.

We're trying to survive on this side too. People are losing their jobs, not getting paid enough as everything gets more expensive and don't even get me started on the stupid amount in rent. I understand that they need help or their government sucks but guess what, we need help too and Joe Biden is our president?. Must I say more.

This is a very thoughtful and balanced review. As a retired Canadian who had a good job for most of my life, I'm saddened by the decline in almost all areas of life, lifestyle and and people's aspirations in this country. This decline actually seems quite rapid, I would say from 2015 onwards. Housing in major centres was expensive, but it has skyrocketed in the past decade. There has been a decline in many institutions: 1. health-care, especially noticeable since the pandemic that coincided with many boomer medical staff retiring, but also by our sclerotic institutions refusing to enable foreign-trained doctors to work here. Many foreign-trained doctors in the Vancouver area are doing jobs way below their qualifications while many people cannot even get a family doctor. Crazy. Econonically, there seems to have been no plan at all from the government as we exited the pandemic. At least the US had a plan, to 'build back better'. Our government just floats along as if everything is fine, when the decline is very visible especially to older Canadians. We have admitted 1/2 a million people a year from overseas, so our economy should reflect this and show an upswing. But no, we're in a 'technical recession' as of December and probably a real recession as of last week. I have never voted Conservative in my life, but Trudeau is a flaky dimwit with a famous name who has no clue what he is doing. A fool, in fact. He's mismanaged our foreign relations beyond belief, and nothing has improved domestically. When Pierre Poilievre says 'Canada is broken', I believe it. We deserve much better leadership; in Canada's case, the rot does come from the top. Justin the entitled idiot is much more like his mother than his father.\n\nLong rant. Anyway, I just wanted to praise your balance, and your decision to stay for now. Moving from one country to another is a huge life-change and you have worked hard to be here. Everywhere is the same in terms of inflations , infect having friends in Europe I know is even worse over there . I think your problem is you want to live your life very Islamic , you want everything around you being about religious in your case Islam . Completely fair that the cold isn’t for everyone. If you don’t like winter activities, there’s literally no point living here. For me, I could not live without skiing , skating, ice fishing and just messing around sledding, snowball fights etc. and other fun winter activities and festivals. There’s something about coming in after a cold winter day, sitting by the fireplace and drinking hot chocolate (not to say Canada’s always cold as summers are extremely hot). In terms of your other points, very debatable, as the grass isn’t necessarily greener on the other side and every country have their problems, but to each their own. Best of luck with everything :)

Not sure but Top muslim countries are also supporting Israil like Saudi Arabia, Dubai,..! No words to say on this, for me, wherever you are, your iman is strong so it will not effect you. I am not a mom yet so can not say anything about kids and their education or lifestyle. Here in Australia, I have seen a family of two children, mom is a Muslim and father was sikh so his family also, but the mom has settled everything in islamic way, her children are getting islamic knowledge, daugher wears hijab in school, read Quran, etc. I think you can make your home environment as of islamic so that it does not effect anyone of you , but still I am not sure as I am not a parent yet. Pray I become parent as we are married since 5 years

Just remember wherever you guys pick make sure that they speak the same dialect that you do otherwise you're going to have that learning curve of learning their dialects. It is different in a lot of places like learning to speak like the yemeni do is different than the Pakistani. So just keep that in mind. My grandfather is from Yemen and his wife who is my grandmother and my dad's side is from sudan. And they used to tell me it took them a while to understand each other. My Syrian grandmother on my mom's side would teach me words and phrases and my grandpa who was from Yemen would always make fun of me because I wasn't saying stuff right. I'm not really good at speaking Arabic but I can get by so just remember when you guys are picking somewhere to pick a place that won't be that hard to understand people. I'm only saying that because with the kids you guys send the kids to school they may learn a different dialect than what you taught at home and it will be a learning curve for them to try to understand. But I'm sure you guys will make the right decision. I just figured I would throw that in there I'm sure you already know that the dialects are a lot different and Arabic is a lot different in different parts of the world. People think Arabic is all the same and it's really different. Just like people who speak Spanish in South America speak different dialects on the Puerto Ricans just like people in Brazil don't speak Spanish they speak portuguese. Just a thing to think about. Egypt seems to be a pretty good place I have family that live in Egypt and they really liked it but I'm sure you guys will pick a place that's wonderful for your family and I can't wait till you guys know when we can see everything that you guys are doing in your new home Korean and I totally understand I am so upset the United States took the stand that they did with the genocide in Gaza and in the occupied West bank. We are Turks but do not have Turkish nationality but when we go for religious holidays in Istanbul I feel completely different, it just feels like I have to live there near the mosque. My inner me begging me when we are in Istanbul in the old part of the city to stay there forever. \nI really know what you feel and want. I am looking for Muslim countries where possible we can move BUT unfortunately I made the conclusion that there is not a place even in a Muslim land that we can live the way of peaceful practicing and being a Muslim what we want to be. \nJust advise be careful with the Arab world, other than that if you look at Türkiye I would say do your research really well, not in every town there you can live your religion. In Illinois, this Palestinian mother and 6 year old son were brutally stabbed by their landlord after he heard the lies from Israel. The mother pulled through, but this happy little boy did not.\nAnother story came from Texas, where a Palestinian doctor was also stabbed outside her home for the same reason. She did not make it. There are other stories, but I will say my husband, who is not yet in the US yet, that I would wear my underscarf and then an appropriate hoodie for my scarf. EVERYTHING is covered. I feel that I am safe and inconspicuous with this slight modification. Our goal is to keep me around for a long time.

My family moved 22 years ago from Mumbai to Toronto…while the struggles said on your channel are real, there are also perks which I feel like you didn’t get to experience. If people have good jobs, stable family life then DON’T move…culture shock is huge that people moving from India don’t consider, just by wearing and eating western food doesn’t make you western! \nThere are sacrifices to be expected which you don’t realized as your great grandparents or grandparents might have made when they started out! \nMoving to another country is never easy, unless you’re loaded with $$$. People in India are lazy as they have people working for them and don’t realize how difficult it is living outside of that lifestyle (not everyone in India can afford housekeepers, cleaners). Being independent and doing things on your own has its own positive (just need to figure it out). \n\nI have worked in healthcare for 16 years and let me tell you…social system works better as everyone gets the health service without being judged about $$. Healthcare is based on priority around the world but people don’t understand this as they feel like their problem should be attended first no matter what! \nNot all drugs are legal in Canada, marijuana is legal though with acceptable limits…you probably were misinformed about drugs! Teach your kids about right /wrong when it comes to drugs, smoking, alcohol and that’s the best you can do! I know people who live in India and do all that which you mentioned you were worried about for your kids. \n\nWhat you experienced was a classic case of culture shock and your expectations didn’t match the reality! Moving away from family, changing lifestyle and being responsible adult (doing things on your own rather than relying on workers) is difficult but doesn’t make the country bad that have you an opportunity to settle! Don’t take things for granted even while you live in India…appreciate the effort that goes into everything- keeping roads clean, people working hard, etc. \n\nBest advice I can give to those considering moving to any foreign country is: Keep an open mind, be ready to work hard and visit the country you want to move to before you make the grave decision of uprooting everything! Things usually turn around and get better after 5 years mark- focus on upgrading your education if you have a basic degree from India (even you know how competitive things are in India, so how can western world not be!)\n\nBeing vegetarian- things are tough when it comes to food but living in Toronto has never been an issue. Even people living in India avoid outside food due to hygiene reason which is not a problem in Canada as food inspection is pretty strict (having worked with ministry of health). \nCities like Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, etc has variety of food options (including veg)…just have to be really open to trying other cultural food (Asian, Mediterranean, Italian,Mexican, etc). My parents are strict vegetarians and have never truly struggled when they are out. \n\nCost of living is definitely higher as the standard living is higher compared to India. Education (until grade 12) and healthcare are free (in reality, you pay tax for it), you get pension when you retire (based on your contributions and type of jobs you had)…you failed to navigate the system and I will say having family around is why you didn’t take opportunity to explore and learn on your own. \n\nPlease don’t come to Canada and make life difficult for other Indians who choose to willingly accept the culture and lifestyle here after going through this hardship- cost of living and housing has gone up dramatically in major cities because of immigration influx! If you’re serious about moving and putting up, only then move! Otherwise all the best for your future endeavours!

My father lived 20 years in Canada, he received a pension, in the last 4 years he has had to work because the pension was not enough, now he has decided to return to Colombia because even receiving a pension and working at the same time he cannot afford to live in Toronto, he says in the last 4 years the quality of life has deteriorated, everything are much more expensive, so much so that it is no longer worth returning to Canada.

I find it so amusing that Canadians always have to preface everything with self righteous boasting about how multicultural they are, how their city has a world class this and that—in this case—film festival etc. etc. I have never been anywhere in Europe for example where first anyone even mentions Canada much except to say that there are a lot of trees. And no one in real cities with a culture like Paris, Madrid, Berlin harp on how world class they are or how multicultural they are. Also, in terms of immigration, give me a break—you have obviously not travelled anywhere—go to Berlin, Paris, New York etc. to see people from all over the world. As someone in his late twenties living in Quebec, I got to say this is very accurate. I won't say things are as bad as some other people are saying in the comments, but I do feel like the country is going downhill. For me, these are the main three things that feels wrong:\n\n1. We, as citizen, tend to offload every responsibility to the governments. Each election, they promise to handle more, but fail times and times again to deliver on their existing responsibilities. But we still vote for them, because we fear personal responsibilities. They created these immovable bureaucratic monsters and they lost control. They promise new shiny things instead of fixing what is already in place.\n2. We lost all notion of what is necessary. People gets more and more entitled which leads to overconsumption and frustation. Quebecers used to be proud peoples who survived with the little they had. Now greed has consumed our identity and nothing is holder us together.\n3. I feel that jobs are less and less useful to the society. Even I, as an electronic/software engineer, wonder if my job as meaning. I feel we lost touch with the concrete world. Some people have 0 contribution to anything useful and have really good salary and work conditions, while others bust their ass in shitty conditions. Exactly what you are describing ie crime, unemployment, broken infrastructure, is the same across tge West. I am talking to my friends and family back home and they all say, you are in better condition than us, at least you are earning with dollars. Lol what? I spent with dollars too. I’m an immigrant of two years from the UK. I have to say at the time of moving due to Covid everything was expensive throughout the world and there was uncertainty in most things. Myself and my wife now have our own businesses as we found that the system here does not favour immigrants in getting the jobs Canada claims it needs to fill. The reality is the government and unions don’t want educated people to fill mid to high paying jobs and it’s impossible to get jobs in teaching, nursing, doctors etc if you are not educated here. The government wants immigrants to populate and work the low paid jobs even if they have a bachelor, mba or phd.
