Just limit the student visa to students willing to pursue a three or four year university degree. Do not give visas for 6 month or 12 month courses from private colleges. \nThis practice really undermines real university education and destroys our economy. \nI am an immigrant myself and when i applied for study in Canada, only universities could supply an individual with a student visa.

It is a myth that Canadian education is good. I studied in Regina. I found teachers are Phd but they don't know how to teach. I went to study AI there but I found YouTube is better than the college where I study. I wasted CAD17000 there. No Jobs, No Career. Indian students are just working at Tim Horton, Walmart, Canadian Tire, and local restaurants to get PR and spoil their lives by becoming low-wage labor. This is harsh reality there.

I am in canada right now. I live in Oshawa a town of GTA. Find a job is a problem. College life is good but there is a harsh truth of teachers being rude and disrespectful of the students. Canada has always been a peaceful, prosperous, progressive and a good governance oriented nation. In the recent decade, too much of woke, radical left wing ideology has penetrated into policy and public institutions that have led to Canada’s current day crisis. \n\n2. This country has always welcomed talented immigrants who are willing to integrate with the Canadian society, embrace its values, traditions and culture. However, in the last 10 years, too many refugees and reckless mass immigration has put an incredible pressure on the economy, infrastructure and social cohesion. \n\n3. The political leadership has allowed reckless mass immigration without caring to boost the economy/infrastructure to handle the volume and hence the sorry state of affairs. \n\n4. Too many immigration consultants of Indian origin engage in outright VISA frauds (yes, this is unfortunately true) leading to ppl coming in as a tourist and then seeking asylum or converting their visa into a student visa (55 year olds from Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat coming here as students).\n\n5. A significant chunk of people coming from India (esp. Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat) seeking a permanent residency in Canada are using student visas as a back door to claim eligibility for PR/citizenship. I’ll give my honest opinion. I have stayed in Canada for 3 years from 2018 - 2021 during which I have also worked there. The good thing about that country is almost no pollution and less population and the people are also friendly. However, the costs of housing, medical and other expenses have risen considerably and it’s very difficult to save money and enjoy life freely. The big cities like Toronto and Vancouver are out of reach for the students in terms of rent. Also my own roommate was a victim of crime as 2 college students robbed him and fortunately he only suffered minor injuries. There is also shortage of jobs due to recession. Even though there are many problems in India but in today’s time the best country to live is India!! ????

In the course I take at college it cost me about $3500 for a year, an immigrant students pays about $15,000 for the same course (electrical engineer). Also, they get their pays taxes even more then residents.

First of all , Students are not the problem. The poor unpractical courses in private colleges without any attandance is the problem, another problem is refusees and govt. allowed the asylum refusees , so many tourist visa converted into work , israelies asylum seeker , are the problem , students brings almost $60-70000 and loan , sells property , but after study he remains unskilled coz courses offered to them are useless from most of the colleges. problem is immigration system allowed unskilled people , useless courses , PR to tourist visa holders. I am Canadian and I work in an area with a lot of foreign student labour. This is an accurate summary of the situation. I have some college education, and I noticed many Indian students are going to private colleges a distance away. I believe the colleges aren't properly vetting these students in order to allow more in and collect more money from them. International students pay more to go to school in Canada. These young people unfamiliar with a western education system don't understand things aren't being done properly, but the bad reputation of these schools gets around and these students credentials are worthless. It's sad considering families frequently go into debt to send their kids to Canada. Mass Immigration is ruining housing in Canada because not enough building happend to house the sudden population increase. Canadians access to services such as health care is hindered by the population iincrease. Something as simple as the common language spoken in the country has changed. Canadian immigration is the biggest scam on planet earth. Everyone is involved: the government, the immigration lawyers, the colleges (diploma mills). So blaming the students is not fair. I understand the temptation to shame them . . . but they came because the government, lawyers and colleges wanted their MONEY! Now, these students realize that they have been scammed and that the colleges are worse than diploma mills because most of these schools have less than a ten percent graduation rate. Consultants and colleges need to be honest with their prospective students and not just include those important facts in a fine print under a bunch of paperwork. \n\nAnd my god, the programs most colleges sell—useless diplomas that are of no use in their home countries either. This should open peoples eyes that majority minority and immigrant Canadians (euopre etc included) are not for this.. because our parents came the honest hard way. And like they have to want to be canadian.. u need to want to assimilate.. \n\nHave an Indian Canadian talk vs a student here working.. and they’re not the same..\nCanada doesn’t owe them anything, any other country will kick you out. U came to study and after you’re done u can apply for proper work, live here for a few years then apply for citizenship. This is t fair to those that have been waiting years, paying taxes etc..\n\nYou came here to study , not work. This is the problem.. we need to raise the amount u need to prove u have to live and study here so u don’t have people exploiting the system and u have to shut down the fake colleges. \n\nAlso this will affect brown communities the most.. this doesn’t benifit those who already can’t get work or buy a house. \nAlso. We don’t want violence..

Without immigration Canada will collapse. Students pay for your low tuition in college. Immigrants pay for hospitals and pensions.

No international student(or Indian) will come to Canada if there is no route to PR. Do you think Canadian colleges and universities are very high in the ranking list? Not at all. So imagine if students only had the option to return home after graduation, none will come to Canada and the economy will suffer. International students exploitation is happening on the federal level, then why bother with Provincial and colleges? These are temporary visas but ultimately, PR(settlement in a new country) is the goal, otherwise these students will not pack their lives and come over here.\n\nReference: I came to Canada in 2022 and left in early 2024. There are many reasons why I left but one I felt was the demographic shift and the amount of refugees that country accepts. Additionally Canada needs to raise the bar on the quality of people coming in. There are more shitty people than there are quality ones because the government doesn't do a better job in filtering. \n\nXenophobia is here and spreading fast! Good Luck !

As a Canadian citizen, I see that there are 3 major issues at play in this problem - \n\n1) Canadian colleges are starved off funds and do not have a sufficient, stable source of revenue. Hence they seek to attract international students who pay (at least) 4X the fee a Canadian citizen would pay. According to mainstream media such as The Globe and Mail, National Post and others, International students contribute some where between $15 to $18 billion per year in revenue to Canada. This is huge!\n\nSince this is a lucrative revenue stream for them, they have gone overboard and are providing strong financial incentives to education / immigration consultants to bring more international students here. Consequently, many existing as well as new colleges are encashing on this trend and diploma mills have mushroomed in Canada lately. This is ABSOLUTELY Canada’s fault and the accountability of fixing this lies with Canada alone.\n\n2. International students who come here often end up taking humongous debt or selling off their homes/ancestral property to be able to afford their education and hence they feel cheated when the dream they were sold doesn’t match the reality. \n\nHaving said that, International students do need to understand that they are here or a temporary visa and DO NOT get to dictate terms to Canada. It is Canada’s sole prerogative to extend their work visa or not, depending upon Canadians requirements.\n\n3. The Trudeau Liberal government benefits by giving these students extended work permits and a pathway to citizenship as it translates into votes for them. However this is an atrocious approach to winning elections and puts unnecessary pressure on the system. \n\nCanada needs to streamline this whole student visa process and take stringent action against these fake diploma mills, education and immigration consultants luring foreign students. It damages Canada’s reputation.\n\nLastly, extend the work permits of only those students that meet Canada’s labour standards and requirements and send everyone else back home.

These purported students from Punjab and Gujarat wouldn't get admission to a plumber's diploma in India. Yet they get a visa and admission to a college in Canada. Where is the scam? Go figure out.

As a retired community college teacher I can attest to this so called 'international (immigration) students circumventing the legal system with the Government complicity, which by the way makes the afore mentioned colleges richer to the detriment to this country economy because is it not sustainable to have so many people with mediocre skills at best to inflate the labour work force artificially.
