Of all the people in Canada who are convicted of shop lifting, what are the proportions of whites, latinos, blacks or aboriginals? Are shopkeepers justified in their suspicion? We hear a great deal about racism, but never any comparative statistics that prove or disprove it. What I am trying to say is: is there any reason why this prejudice exists in the first place?\nIn Edmonton a few years ago an aboriginal man died of a stroke while waiting for triage in a hospital emergency area. IF I remember correctly, police and hospital staff alike assumed he was drunk, not suffering a stroke. I think the chances of someone in a downtown lower east side area being drunk is much higher than having a stroke. So staff just assumed he was drunk. \nIf more people of all ethnic backgrounds behaved more like whites would that suspicion disappear? I wonder if there is a logical and reasonable explanation for why shop keepers feel they way they do.

And here I am watching this after I arrived home in the Philippines after a 2 years work permit and contract in Edmonton Alberta when my work permit renewal was rejected by immigration Canada and there is this fraud immigration thing. Well atleast I did my luck in an honest way rather than doing it the wrong way. I'd rather live a hard life here in the Philippines than living the Canadian dream illegally. I want to thank the canadians for being good to during my 2 years stay in Canada. He stayed in Edmonton & continues to work there underground not paying any taxes, while his family takes advantage of Canadian benefits hospitals, schools & welfare. Edmonton and Vancouver are travelled between constantly. They make it sound as if he is millions of miles from his family. I just bet someone he works with travels back and forth and would happily accommodate him on a visit to see his loved ones.

This guy works hard; the manual labour he does isn't easy, and it's done in sub-zero weather (it can get down to -50 with windchill up near Edmonton). He's contributing to our economy and isn't a criminal; he's just trying to provide his family with a better life. For the same reasons my ancestors immigrated to Canada. Most of them didn't learn English for over 2 generations, but eventually we found our way and our culture became part of the broader Canadian culture. I hope the same happens for him and his family.

Thanks CBC for allowing Asha Tomlinson to work on this video. This is for all Canadians, but most for Black Canadians in Eastern Canada. Cities like Edmonton in particular should be highlighted in this type of videos for their stand on racism. Most cities in Canada are becoming more progressive on racial issues, but Edmonton remains a frightening place for Black people. My message to Blacks in Western Canada is that nothing will change without a challenge. We must stop gossiping about how we are treated and let expose this disease.

I understand the Islam Religion I read the Quran , Mohammad was a Nut case nothing more .I see Muslims asking for more than the people of Canada gets they want the government to fund Islamic centers and schools while the government does not do this for any other religion . The Alberta government built am Islamic center in Edmonton but will not give any other religion a friend ship center . I rather if no more of them comes here .
