Well done canada for standing your ground....having family there I know how strong the feeling is amongst Canadians.....be proud of who you are and take your produce , minerals and oil and deal with people who will treat you like an equal respected partner .I've no doubt europe will be next ......the american government will slowly isolate itself from its western partners and that's s real shame for the American public .......it'll cost jobs in the us cause inflation and it's gonna get a lot more expensive for everyone

I'm not sure what the President is thinking. I'm not sure why he approach these situations in this manner. Maybe I'm missing something. I like to give the benefit of doubt to everything because i know that I'm not all-knowing. With that being said, on his part, I would like some clarity. I'm feeling quite uneasy with the way he is handling things.

i'm from australia and i have relatives in canada. i visit them regularly. i feel sad that from now on the cost to visit and stay in canada would most likely become more expensive.

Who convinced Trump of this? I like him but this trade war against Canada isn’t the way to go, really. I feel Canadians were mistakenly targeted. US needs allies not foes. I grew up hearing lots of hate bout USA cuz the US doesn't exactly have a good rep in foreign policies - always bullying other nations, starting wars for oil etc. but I've always preferred USA not just for the world order it brings, it allows different voices, criticism & scolding towards its leaders compared to China, Russia & North Korea. \n\nin the US, you can talk bad bout politicians in power, or probably make movies bout these kind of things like US invading other countries for oil, or testing out some cruel AI military robots on humans (movie name: Monsters of Man), & you won't be persecuted. but after looking at a bunch of executive orders Trump has signed, the way he (& JD Vance) treated Zelenski & Canada, I don't know if I still feel the same bout USA anymore.\n\nif USA doesn't wanna continue spending on Ukraine, perhaps USA shouldn't have sweet talked Ukraine into denuclearization thru the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. that's what you get for mendling with other countries' affairs. by stopping US aid & wanting a new mineral deal, Trump's refusing to follow the Memorandum (I added this sentence thru edit as I can't reply to the comment below).\n\nunderstandably, US & UK don't need to deploy troops in Ukraine as the security assurance in the memorandum wasn't clearly defined, but it also didn't mention that Ukraine should pay the US back financially, nor any mineral concessions. \n\nTrump always wanting a purely 1 sided deal will only isolate USA from more allies.

I deeply regret what has happened to Ukraine and the US in supporting Putin. However, when Azerbaijan spoke out about the injustices we suffered at the hands of Armenia—with the backing of Russia—the world did not stand with us. Instead, without proper investigation, they sided with the aggressors, making an unfair judgment. At that time, I prayed for their eyes to be opened. Now, tragically, it seems like karma has come full circle. My heart goes out to the people of Ukraine, and I sincerely feel for their suffering.

As an American, the saddest thing is I now have to root against America. A slim majority of those who voted put this wannabe dictator and putin puppet in office and I want to see other countries point that out and slap back. I'm a canadian who usually agrees with Trump but in this case I feel like this makes no sense. Not sure exactly why Trump is doing all of this but deteriorating relations between us and impacting our economies in such a way makes no sense to me. The stock market is plummeting, jobs on both sides are at risk, prices on both sides of the border will go up. Btw my job won't be affected by these tariffs so i'm not speaking out of anger or fear for my job.

It is equally miserable to know that our tariffs will also cause pain to Americans. We are sorry, and I know that is cliche, but we are.
