I'm a canadian and my Scottish hubs came here 7 years ago and hes like canada has gone so far downhill. We are saving so we can go to scotland and give it a go. Not looking at it as a save all. But the stress and unhappiness with this city and country is not worth my mental and physical health. I have a chronic Illness and live in constant threat I wont be able to afford shit in canada. Its bs. My health insurance picks and chooses what and when to cover. No rhyme or rhythm to it. We had two friends from scotland give canada a try a d said hell no ...unfriendly, too densely populated, shit pay, unaffordable rent and travel. So where's the pro...as Arrogant Worms said...we wont say that were better (than america) its just that were less worse. My parents can't afford to retire after working their asses off. They are going back to South Africa. Canada has IMMENSE potential as a country but its squandered

Im currently 15 years old. And i wanted to go to Canada for education. I never wanted to live in America, cause every day i heard about a pretty bad police and Health care and obviously people. \nNiether go to Australia cause there are a lot of dangerous plants and animals (Im not going to lose an eye to a bird, or life to a spider). \nAnd i honestly praying that to the time i get 18-19, Canada became better. Cause i do believe that this insane crisis Canada is right now, isn't permanent. \nAll countries were in a crisis, and most pf them got out of it. Like England, France, America, Belgium and etc.

Did immigrants not look in to things like this before wanting to live in Canada? I am going to be honest. All though I have lived in Canada 20 years ago. Felt very much at home. I also saw a country that is far from being better on the important topics for living a life. People want to immigrate go to countries where they can. In Denmark immigrants are not wanted, but is a more balanced country on most topics to live in if you want better. ???

Wow any idea why people are crazy to enter canada bcoz standard of livibg is good in your country and any idea how much cost it occurs to stay and study in canada i am not good in conversions but lemme tell u its very very high people literally sell everything they have in india to go and study there now just assume why do people sell like crazy people just to study i mean think about it bcoz of PR they sell like crazy if they can invest that amount in india they can get a degree from good universities in india and good jobs but if the same amount is invested in canada the standard of living will improve by obtaining canadian citizenship now if u r sane person think about it its all about standard of living and its not crime to look for better life and at the start of applying in universities of canada a job and PR were available as options so indians applief there with that intention now if u change those rules overnight the money we invested is just thrown into dustbin and i dont know why people think its wrong things to even protest on that if u hate immigration that badly dont show ur anger on indians or other immigrants show that anger on ut government for showing us indians a better future and allowing us indians to enter ur country legally with PR in future prospect Nd why do u think even after such outrage on immigration canada yet allows immigrants bcoz its simple people spend like crazy for such oppurtunities and canada has taken advantage of that and now canadians like we got ur money so get out from our country wow i ddidnt know people can be this greedy and selfish.

If the post Covid housing crisis were under control, Trudeau would have done something by now. Rent here is no more expensive in the US in fact probably more expensive in New York than in a city like Ottawa Toronto or Montreal. Yes Vancouver is an expensive place to live but not all of it. There are the cheap slum apartments on east hastings. What 2 and 20 want you to believe is that Canada is an endless Kagillionare's row that's unsustainable to live. Nitpick all you want but the truth is that there are pros and cons to everything. Tue there are many Indians. Many do really really well but what do Indian have to do with whites dying of addiction! Majority of the homeless in Canada are whites. Indians on other hand band together and survive. Thats why live appaling living conditions like 16 people living in same house. Since they are willing to do that some land do exploit them. Most of these landlords are Indian in Brampton and Chinese. However most dont complain because they are willing take pain save some money. Rather than complaining white learn that there better ways to survive rather than getting sucked in to drugs.

Go home.No one ask them to come there to begin with. Immigration is totally twisted. If you are on vacation in Canada and meet a business owner and he likes you and want to hire you full time for what ever job. Immigration will say no to that. Not the right education, not the right age. not the right what ever. The business owner will only be able to hire you for max 3 years. Then you will returned to your own country. Then the business owner can sit there and say. Whaaaat. Why can I not decide for my self. Why do you now want people from modern countries that are better than Canada in many ways ? WHY ?. To want to live in Canada , you really have to love to be there, feel at home no matter if it is better for your finances or not. Now that rents has gone up to a level where only the wealthy can pay., why do they still insist on coming, There is a difference between having a high education and waste in on a coffee job/cleaning job/taxi driver job and so forth.

Canada is a corporation and I guess the more immigrants WE have then the GDP looks better. I am a Canadian and my mother was born here and my grandmother came to Canada in 1907 from the USA when she was 7 years old. I was born in the 1940s and brought up in rural surroundings. Back then We had traditional beliefs and I had farming background. Connection of relatives and helping our neighbours were how We lived. I became a schoolteacher. I saw that in 1954 when I went to school that learning was not natural and it was fear based. Then I completed a dip. of ed psy and then I decided that if I ever wanted to help change the system that I would require at least an m. ed. - leadership. I knew the university I went to would not be able to say no to me when I applied to get into this program. However, I was too much of an negative influence on the younger students and had to finish the last couple of classes at home and which I did. Today, the families have been divided, people do not connect or communicate properly and I have to question what living skills did I learn? Instead, my head was filled with propaganda which sadly, I've had to relearn. I say, stay in your own country and fix it there. Indian has some wonder ancient wisdoms for healing and health. The OWNERS of our nations like the banking families realize that when new immigrates come in that they assimilate more, and the older generations begin to question what THEY were taught and why. I remember when say a barn burned down or one had to be built that neighbours would help build the barn for the farmer. Then we would all celebrate and the women would get together and cook the food and we would have a barn dance. Life was simple then, but connection was authentic and we didnt lose ourselves. We must know ourselves and our history or we are lost and so many people live in chaos and ignorance. Learn to become our Divine selves. Learn to understand that WE are living in a fictional world when We are educated to be who we are not.

The real culprit are the diploma mill colleges throwing student visas like candy at Punjabis. As a result you guys import low talent individuals whose soul purpose is to immigrate to Canada. Top shelf Indian talent goes to the US where there is a better vetting and culling process in place.\n\nThat said India has been telling Canada that you guys have been importing some of rhe worst anti social elements from Punjab. To the point where sheets of plywood were you couldn't find them and they went up 100 times and price. Solo's hundreds of billions of dollars that the government's going to take back and taxes from us all draw the cost of housing through the roof. Instead of at the time redirecting half of those two it was 500 billion take a half of that investment in putting it into infrastructure technology innovation for industries. Our education systems from kindergarten through to postsecondary education and spending it on the Canadians that were here. We've turned our post-secondary institutions in Canada into diploma Mills where you know your VA and your you know postgraduate degrees or you know they're worthless. However the government and the education system grew into a very profitable industry grinding out worthless degree after worthless degree for foreign students who thought when they got these degrees with 50% of Canadians have. People have to realize that post-secondary education is a big business so they're going to sell you a dream that's going to cost you a lot of money what I suggest is when YouTubers want to do something on Canada do some proper research let people know that we really do have quality post-secondary education system but you have to look at when you graduate those jobs going to be there to pay that large salary does White collar jobs are disappearing almost gone I purchase an app for my company with small company about 10 employees this inexpensive app alone has taken my office staff from 7: to 2: I have a 10 Red seal tradesman tradeswomen these 10 highly skilled trades people earn between 125 and 145,000 a year in gross salary and I need five more of these highly skilled people and I can't find them cuz everybody's running in to get a useless postgraduate degree. I do find it slightly offensive that a lot of new immigrants new Canadians immigrate to Canada to purely exploit it for its wealth Canada should be looked at as a place to come put your hard work in the struggles the ups and downs? and look at it as your home instead of you know a piggy bank but people are going to leave and there's a long line up to get in I've seen in my 40 year career you know three major reps and three major downs. What's happening in Canada's economy and the economies around the world it's all the same the US economy's doing quite well and talked to last couple of weeks friends that have invested their and families have been there long-term at present the United States is building a war economy so there's money pouring into that effort it does have a booming you know Hi-Tech boom as well however the tech boom is offshore with American companies and it's taking place in a part of the world that no one would think it would take place so if your graduate in the tech industry go online do a little research you'll find out where it is the USA is building a huge chip factories I think they just poured in 70 or 80 billion dollars we're in a transitioning economy don't get discouraged put your head into it do your homework find out where these new jobs are coming from which jobs are not going to be here. Traditional White collar you know middle management upper management jobs they've been gone for years everyone's think of themselves as an independent contractor. Also if you're a millennial or was a gen z person there's going to be a massive transfer of wealth over the next 20 to 30 years as baby boomers simply die off and then you guys are going to inherit their money I live in any one of the g7 economies I just got to find your niece with your qualifications and get in there and innovate because there's not one g7 country that significantly doing better than anyone else another interesting part of the world is East Africa I'm retiring there in 5 years I've already done my homework I've already got partners I've already started to train up people there in East Africa Canada and those parts of the world they have East Africa's great basic infrastructure so now that they've got their first level base of infrastructure a second economy is built off at the service that basic infrastructure that basic infrastructure allows for that second layer a bigger layer of investment you know and that's where the real money is for mid-level investors and you know highly educated Young westerners have got 10 years into their respective careers and these are also very beautiful countries you know so you can if you got family in Canada family in Europe India Asia you know you can start building networks collaborate on projects you know in these you know emerging economies you know mid-level economies but that's you know a good 20-year grind to get good at your career and build your confidence to go into these places and get these things done also you know it's a great life adventure but never expect just because you have an advanced degree that the door even come knocking down your door to employ you if you're going to wait for the opportunity to come to you you're going to be waiting forever you got to take your advanced degrees get out there and hustle and work hard man Canada's doing fine about four or five years it's you know it's going to take off next level and it's going to boom for 40 years and it's never going to get any cheaper in g7 countries Amy's emerging economies his pockets around the world they're starting to come up to in the window to get into these emerging economies with your advanced degrees it's closing if you don't make it if you don't start looking at it in the next 5 years your degrees are going to be gone useless and if you do decide to put your career in these emerging economies like Asia South America Central America Africa do it for the right reasons not just for money we don't want to make the same mistakes as like the industrial Revolution where a few people get rich and the people in that country you know don't get anything have respect for these countries employ their people and you have to get into these places before all the big corporations get set up there cuz they're they're going there Canada's a great place as a great time free medical system and I urge anybody that's feeling down or depressed in Canada you know to go get some therapy join some clubs talk to people don't get down and mostly don't you know don't give up on yourself you guys made it through you know Elite post-secondary education system and if you can if you can do that I mean you can you can do anything a lot of hard work ahead truly best of luck to all you guys

I think he's not the best person to interview about the problem. They should have interviewed people who recently immigrated with semi skilled or vocational jobs. Like plumbers, electricians, or truck drivers. These professions are in demand in Canada due to shortage but the remuneration is low compared to the very high cost of living in Canada. I'd say it's better to live in a poorer or middle income countries like Thailand or the Philippines but with better affordability.

Indians are future of ??. \nHow many Canadians anyone can name working as top leaders in top companies of this world. Just try to Google who are CEOs of below top companies like Google, IBM, Microsoft, Adobe, Diageo, Arista Network, CHANEL, NetApp, Nokia, PEPSI Co, Onlyfans, Twitter etc etc. list is like never ending. We got Freedom from Britishers in 1947 and it’s not even a century and see how far we have come clearly shows the capabilities, potential & farsightedness of us Indians. We look for opportunities that’s why we are spreading all over the world wherever we see any. Future of world is Indians & Chinese. We both are culturally sound and capable enough to adopt & grow in any environment of any country. Now see in next 25 years Asians will take Canada to where Canadian themselves have never been able to take it to. Today we are getting Engineers Doctors to Aeronautical Specialists to Labour in Warehouses, Manufacturing plants & Crop fields to Professors, Politicians to scientists, bankers, investment planners to Food retailers, Restaurants workers, City workers to Skilled workers. *shrugs* Canadian here. No interest in leaving, especially to the US of all places.\n\nI mean think that through. My income tax is around 17% of my income. My capital gains on investments is around 15%. I get free health care (which while obviously not free - is paid out of my taxes, yet isn't rationed or in-network restrictions, doesn't have copays and cover 90% of my medical needs). I have a government that even at its worst, is orders of magnitude more rational and public serving than the US (and god help you if Trump gets back in). Not to mention a country that doesn't literally have a major gun violence/mass shooting even EVERY FRICKING WEEK, unlike the US.\n\nAnd yes, I live in Metro Van and I have an 850 sq ft two bedroom apt I'm renting for $1250/mo - so maybe the problem isn't simply that the housing market is too tight (which it is), but that you've picked a city in high demand that's boxed in on four sides - ocean to the west, mountains to the north, US border to the south and what little farmland the lower mainland can sustain to the east. good evening sir, and how is work and family doing?\n\nI would like to share some information with you about my move to Canada that I would like to get your advice.\n\nI applied for Canada visiting Visa August 2023 and my visa came out by December same year. I later found out that coming over as a student would be much better than just visiting but even as that I had visiting Visa already. There are tens of thousands of Americans moving to Canada every year and most Canadians moving here are not necessarily because they are dissatisfied with Canada. I know lots of Canadians in California who moved here because it's warmer and they tired of the cold. In fact, I have never met a Canadian who said things are worse in Canada than here. All of them think Canada has a better healthcare, education system, nicer people, better government... \nIt's true they have housing problems but it's not like we don't have that here in the US! I'm pretty sure it's worse.

Canada does need lots off immigrants to stave off a demographic collapse. But immigrantion means housing issues. And it's not like the US or Europe where most of the immigrants will be on the lower-side of the skilled labor pool: the average immigrant to Canada will be better educated and have more earning potential than the average native. They're going to make more and buy better houses. That WILL cause social problems, no matter what you think of the issue.

I'm born in the UK to Serbian parents, but grown up in Norway so I've seen three different cultures in my life all at once. I always liked Canada for being diverse because then I wouldn't have to switch between being English, Serbian or Norwegian, I could be more me because I am basically multicultural. For years I've idealised Canada and it wasn't until just two weeks ago that I got to visit and see for myself what Canada is like. I was in Toronto and also in Vancouver visiting a family that moved there from the UK I hadn't seen since I was a kid. I loved the nature (Especially Vancouver my god!) and the people, but I learned about how extremely expensive housing in Canada is to the point that it would be hard to make ends meet just renting a place let alone buying a house. Also how immigration is out of control and those who do come to Canada are disproportionately from one country being India rather than many different, which is not good for maintaining diversity. This is something I saw having lived most of my two weeks in Mississauga just south of the airport.\n\nI hope you guys finally get someone better in the next election, because I have more hopes for Canada than I do for the UK. 28-year-old Female Sydneysider from Australia here. Apologise in advance for the long post and rambling.\n\n\nNot sure if it is just me, so please correct me if I am wrong. Just probably now too overly 'realistically too cynical'. So please take my input with a grain of salt. 

For context’ sake, for most of my adulthood I have always been poor & I am born with special health needs (E.g. disabilities).
\n\n\nSometimes on forums we are often contrasted to Canada, for some reason. Both Canada and Australia have remarkably similar problems with a different coat of paint. Sydney, for instance, has always been high up in the list of the cities with the highest cost of living in the world. Usually within the top 10-20. 

COVID-19 obviously made this issue clearer in some circumstances because we couldn't 'work' at all. Unless you were an essential service worker, to mentally block out personal and local difficulties.\n\n\nWe still have not recovered from that 2–3 years global shutdown. The only reason I was allowed to work for a period was because I work for the animal industry and aid in animal welfare. 

I still lost my job due to COVID-19 regardless and knew I would never get a decent job again. Merely just the last poor sod on the boat to be thrown off. 

Could not become a vet nurse despite working very hard. Just because no one wants to give me '2-years permanent paid experience’ to be taken seriously. 

At the same time, way too many employers will happily take 2+ years of veterinary students volunteering at their vet clinic. With the vague promise of a permanent job.

Which, of course, never happens, then say we are being too demanding or spoilt for politely asking for said job.\n\n\nHow are we supposed to pay off our student debt if any financial service expects us to have a per meant job to pay anything off??

 No, they do not want to train nor help you. They just want free labour, then kick you out once your time is up. All my jobs have been casual, and my animal industry has already become heavily casual based ages ago. Permanent job is like looking for a magical unicorn.\n\n\nSo, even if you and your relatives lived in the way outer suburbs of Sydney for decades, being typically considered roughly lower-middle socio-economic families. 

The younger adults and kids all know and have been aware for years, they have no future at all due to having an inflated cost of living. Sugar-coating it, saying it might go in a positive direction, sounds like a blatant lie. We all know it is a lie.\n\n\nNowadays, in contrast to the late nineties and early 2000s when I was just a tiny naive kid that didn't know any better. There seems to be a more jarring split between the income brackets of what the country assumes who is poor, middle class or rich today. 

\n\nBy today's standards, my family is no longer even considered close to the very lower end of the middle class if you were reaching hard. We are considered 'poor' just because my parents do not earn roughly $50,000 — $150,000 AUD a year on their own in 2023. When something does not change within roughly 5–10 years, it is more than simply just valid for us to feel like we cannot fix what has been broken.

I feel bad for Canadians.. we don't have immigrants in India but it's still difficult with inflation going on.. i hope a better PM is elected and Canada flourishes like before

In Canada, the major centers are too expensive. However, Canada is one of the easier countries for foreigners to come in and stay long term and make a decent living, especially from countries like the Philippines and India. If they are highly skilled though, there are better opportunities. Just don't talk about homelessness and say it is one of the reasons no to come to Canada from the Philippines. Homeless and slums are quite prevalent all over the Philippines. Taxes however are ridiculously high in Canada - but this socialist slant is not going anywhere anytime soon.

The only reason India is lacking behind is because of it's abundant population and it was not blessed with self rule up until 1947 which kind of derailed it's progress by years thanks to European Colonization and discrimination. \nJust as an example for folks who are ignorant to see India as a third world or poor or poorly run country - \n* The way India handled Covid for 1+ billion people is something close to impossible for Canada with a meagre population of around 40 million. \n* You don't have to wait for months or weeks for normal checkups, MRIs, doctors and so on. \n* You don't have to pay $50+ per month for a meagre 10-30gb data instead it's less than $4 per month for 1-2gb/day data (yes per day)\n* The military budget of India is 66 billion dollars while Canada's is a meagre 26 Billion dollars.\n* India is capable of launching advanced missions in Space and has single handedly indigenously created aircrafts to land in moon and space exploration.\n* India has home grown automobile companies like Tata Motors (which owns Jaguar and Land Rover), Mahindra and many more while I don't see any homegrown automobile companies in Canada.\n* India has more than 170 billionaires while Canada has around 70.\n* India's richest people won't even bother to invest in Canada because it's not a viable market, but the economy in India is booming and will continue to do so.\n* Despite the population the country is managing in such a way that Canada can only dream off. Just because you had the privilege and the means to be developed does not give you the right to demean other nations. It's really nothing that you did, it's just pure luck, right place, right time, white superiority, destruction and so on which enables you to live such privileged lives and now you are crying when people are actually working hard to provide some competition.\n\nDon't you think regardless of race or ethnicity, every human being deserves the best life? \n\nBefore you judge a country do some research. \n\nYes, the people in general have a different thought process where in prominence is not given to space, way of living, probably you can put it up as standard of living and the quality of thought process. But that's always the case with generalization. I know it's hard not to when you see it, but being a better human is all about thinking beyond that. Yes people in India are general prone to having a shortcut process, at the same time, highly skilled people are abundantly present. In the information sector and other highly skilled areas, they are present earning loads of money which reverberates to more tax money for the government. \n\nI know that they have major issue with absorbing the host country culture and I believe that can probably or maybe alleviated by having some cultural programs so that they can fit into the society so that the Canadian culture is upheld. It's always difficult to see changes around you and your home being in your words being raided by foreign entities. Guess what? The world is filled with different ethnic groups. Hundreds of years ago all your native homes were part of the indigenous people here and they didn't even have time to complain or lament online when the Europeans butchered them and massacred their homelands, claiming the land and setting up as their own. I've honestly never really thought of it but as a Canadian that moved to the UK (Scotland specifically) it is crazy to have it broken down this way. My partner (Scottish) and I talked about the pros and cons in living in either country and we came to the conclusion is was better to live in the UK. TBF she is an engineer and in the future it may be better to live in Canada but right now between the salary and time off (20 day (CAD) vs her current 40 days off plus flexible working days (equals out to more like 44)) it's better to live in Scotland. I was also able to find a much better high paying job here in the UK (Edinburgh no less) than anywhere in Canada and have continued to work here in the UK cheaper.\n I hope to move back to Canada one day but don;' know if it will ever be possible.

it's the biggest dump I ever had misfortune to live in. Unlike Europe, the cities are block-like, ugly, grey, and polluted. There's homeless , drugged up zombies everywhere. Cars run you over everywhere. There's no culture of humanism (just for show). It looks like a 3rd world war zone without a single soldier or shot being fired ! Quite an accomplishment. On top of that, taxes are in the top 3 highest in the world and you get almost nothing for this huge cost. If i compare Today's Canada with my home country Greece during crisis period(2010-2017), the wages in my country was, and still is crap but the good thing was the extremely cheap housing due to a housing crash. That helped me buy two properties. Now it's almost impossible to be a first time buyer. Now also, especially after covid, the energy cost, food cost, made even people like me who are owners struggling to cover daily costs(living in my own property and renting out the other + working overtime). I decided to move to Copenhagen, but i quickly realised that it's not much better, and i couldn't use my qualifications. Now i'm working double the average person here to be able to afford to buy a sh*tbox in a smaller city, and i cannot sell any property back home bc i will pay a huge capital gain tax as a Danish tax resident. My rental income from Greece can't help to get bigger mortgage in Denmark, but i think my income is enough for anywhere outside Cph. ...i don't want to imagine how Canadian cities, London, Australian cities are for the average renter/1st time buyer!

Compared to the average US citizen, Canadian enjoy a better health system, a competitive infrastructure system, some of the best educational possibilities and a greater equality in opportunities. It's often referred as an European-like country, and its human development index largely show how a successful model it is. French Canadian here, living in Austin, TX. Lived in Jacksonville, FL before, as well as Charlotte, NC and Cleveland, OH. I've known from a very yougn age that I wanted to live in the US. I like life in the US better. Canada is a great place to sleep if you'll pardon the expression. The only thing I miss from Canada is the simplicity of the healthcare compared to the US. Everything else is better in the US (the places where I've lived at least). Healthcare is excellent in the US but the billing of the healthcare is a nightmare compared to the simplicity of it in Canada.\n\nCanadians' opinions about the US are VERY OFTEN exagerated, it's a fact.

It now seems lonelier in Toronto. \n\nCanada used to be different because anyone with a good job could afford at least a condo, but life became unaffordable not just for immigrants, but for everyone unless you are in your 50s-60s and own a home. \n\nI have friends working double jobs supporting family back home in other countries, but for some of them the family back home sound like they are doing better than them and own a home. Not true for everyone, but for some yes and I worry about their own retirement because retirement in Canada without lots of savings means you might be homeless or forced to live with family even if it’s not your preference. \n\n without investments and savings, it will be hard to beat inflation. Getting into debt and getting bad credit can mean not getting an apartment. \n\nThe birth rate is going down because it is expensive to have kids and income isn’t enough to match with living costs. Plus, if you live too far from your work you will have no time to socialize for most the week due to travel time. \n\nI think those who grew up in Toronto do have a certain culture of acceptance with others from many cultures, because your friends at school were from all over. But with new migrants sometimes it isn’t until the second generation that their social circles get diverse. This can be isolating and it’s even isolating as those from Toronto eventually leave dreaming of staying in one spot and not forced to move constantly when a landlord investor sells every house you move into. \n\n\nToronto really needs to protect affordability of housing for at least some housing in every section so that people can save money if they live in the city, and not have to leave their communities and be far from their friends and family. \n\notherwise eventually people get sick of the hustle and it’s too tiring to travel 1+ hrs each way to visit someone during Monday to Friday. \n\n20 years ago any professional could at least buy a condo. Not today. There is too much competition now and investors are allowed to buy up all the most affordable housing that once was a pathway to owning a home. \n\nRich policy makers got greedy and destroyed canada and hopefully diversity in leadership will help make Canada better.
