I could go on about the billions in taxpayers' money the government blows - it's like a black hole - or the fact that MPs keep getting raises - April 1 is their fifth since COVID - and most federal and government employees are all getting raises at a time when the rest of us are learning to get by with less and less because we're taxed so much and housing, groceries, etc. are so unaffordable.\n\nI have applied for US citizenship. I want to stick around to fix Canada, but I think it's too far gone. We have too many socialists/communists in power and they're not getting voted out any time soon. Born and Raised in Canada and there is another sort of comparison I'm starting to see more and more: We have the Stagnation of Japan and the the Personality of Britain. \n\nWhat I mean by that, the people in Canada, least the older ones (Boomers), got very conservative and never wanted to rock the boat and do new things. They had in their eyes a good thing. They had work and owned their home. None of them wanted to risk that so they kept things the same for the past 3 decades or so. And that is what I think happened to Britain after they got resettled after WWII. Britain is pretty dry. And so is Canada. Hence our forest fires!

Brain drain is definitely a big issue. I heard from someone that if you're a US citizen you are required to pay US taxes even if you don't live there and honestly I kind of wish Canada would do the same. If this country raised you and educated you and gave you all the opportunities you've had in your life thus far, you shouldn't get to just up and leave without paying anything back.

Wouldn't the fact that the city council, allocated that money AFTER the ice raids took place. I am born and raised in NYC. In Queens many businesses are now suffering with lack of staff and the owners or their family members are now doing the work they’ve been paying immigrants that don’t have their paperwork together to do. It is sad so many people trying to start over and get treated poorly! As a community member it is also annoying having to wait much longer for food or the quality of atmosphere lacking now etc I know something needed to be done in regards to the immigration issue but at the same time it sucks to realize just how many people were being taken advantage of in ALL the local businesses smh. It is definitely a catch 22!

I would assume the increased legal consequences would skew the new illegal border crossings from migrants looking for work so they can raise their kids in a country with more economic oppurtunities to a higher percentage of criminals mixed in. I've had some completely institutionalized friends in Baltimore and can say that the bouncing in and out of prison/ have most exciting/chaotic situations/ brag to your friends while you pass the time locked up/ all around adrenaline rush is going to make that crowd see the conseqences as a nuicense and an exclusive challenge. I am of Indian heritage and from what I am seeing around the world its disgusting how Indians are behaving, its made me ashamed of having that heritage and its not just in Canada, they are destroying the reputation for all Indians, and you can't just say its only a small percentage. I was born and raised in England in the 60's, we respected the culture, and country we were in, and would never see this kind of behavior that we are seeing today. I’m an old stock Canadian senior. The Canada I grew up in during the 1960s and 70s was not some sort of fictional story, it was truly a better society than we see today. It was the envy of the world. My dad who never finished high school had a decent unionized job in a factory, and on that one income could buy a house, raise a family and made a comfortable middle class life. Sure it wasn’t perfect, but it was much better than what we see today.

This is really sad becuase life after deportations is tough for somebody who was raised in USA. I was taken to the U.S. as a baby and grew up there, but at 19, I was sent back to Mexico—a country I had no memory of, no connections in, and barely spoke the language. My entire family had migrated when I was little, so I was left to figure everything out on my own.\n\nComing back felt like being thrown into an unfamiliar world.
