Every country WILL accept immigrants as long as they do it the LEGAL way, except israel. You don't break into a home and expect the owner to help you stay. Those politicians that promote such illegal way of entering a country and give them the citizen's benefits are TREASONOUS!

If you come legally, you will save $15.000...but you are wise ass who think is okay to jump in front of all people waiting to legally enter to US...and now you sheding the crocodille tears. One reason his claim failed was because you cannot claim asylum once you have already entered another country prior. He spent years illegally in the US then tried to claim asylum here in Canada. That has no legal merit for asylum.

It is very naive entitled to think just because you illegally enter Canada or US you are going to be greeted with open arms not have to go through a legal process like every non citizen.

Seems like a devoted Dad and a willing worker...but if he had the money, why not enter the U.S. legally? Sounds like he could have afforded it, and the wait is just as long in Canada, with no guarantee. These people from Mexico and Central America should take the steps to immigrate legally. People do it every year.

Enter Canada the legal way, and welcome, not by sneaking in and claiming refugee status. This will likely result in deportation, as it should. .....moving your case to Vancouver just cost you extra money for nothing other than it delayed your case enriching the lawers.

Have any of these people ever tried to come to a country legally ?? Probably is cheaper and you are not a criminal by entering illegally.

They did the same thing to my husband. He married a Canadian woman and had Canadian children... But that wasn't enough... Then he was robbed and assaulted in a bad part of town which gave him extra time only because the supreme court wanted to prosecute the assailants who had attacked my husband... If it werent for the attack he would have been deported at least a year earlier... My husband had legitimate reasons to not want to return to his home country (also Honduras) and aside from that he has children and a wife....\n\nThey say there are laws and this and that... That a refugee cannot enter illegally into Canada and become a successful Canadian....that they have to enter legally.... But how can they enter legally when they cannot get a visa in their own country.... Now we are pushing for humanitarian and compassionate grounds... But life is hard in Honduras and we dont know how much longer he can suffer there before he makes the decision to take the long illegal trek to the north once again...

Some justice for people waiting sometimes years to legally enter Canada. Illegal immigration must be treated as it is: Illegal. And really? 15 years in the US and not speaking English; not a strong case for willingness to integrate

I'm really torn on this issue. On one hand I see the pain and suffering splitting up families causes, but that wouldn't happen if they entered the country legally. Let's not forget these people no matter how well intentioned they are in emigrating they broke US immigration laws.

RE: Canadian healthcare, my wife broke both her hips in 2017 in two separate falls, she was admitted immediately to hospital without delay and operated on the next day (half hip replacement), after physio and occupational therapy she was discharged and provided Homecare, 16 times per week plus weekly Day Hospital. Our cost for both operations was roughly $160.00 for parking spots for me so I could visit her and about $140 in Tim Horton doughnuts for staff. The system does not have enough of certain types of specialists thus wait times for those specialists, and there are wait times for elective surgery. The system has not really been reviewed since its inception in the 1960s but making significant changes is the third rail of Canadian politics and a hard look is justified after 70 years. Re: illegal crossings; The gentleman in the video has a problem in that the US and Canada have signed a “safe country” agreement and neither will accept refugees from the other as both Canada and the US are deemed “safe havens”. He crossed illegally, if he had crossed legally he would have been immediately turned back at the border but he clearly entered the country between border crossings and was likely arrested and released on recognizance but not returned immediately as the agreement is silent on illegal entries (yes, seems a touch strange). As many people are leaving the US for Canada the system is overwhelmed. Tent cities have been set up in Quebec and public housing used in Manitoba to house illegal immigrant pending processing - those with criminal records are held for deportation. Canada has accepted roughly 25,000 Syrian refugees from camps in that part of the world. These refugees were first vetted by the UN then Canada. These refugees are completely different from the people crossing the border illegally from the United States. This pales to the 75,000 boat people accepted after the fall of Saigon. Canadians have been generally accepting of refugees but wants the process guided by the rule of law. Immigrants are a separate from refugees and the rules governing their entries into Canada are different.

What, did he think he would be given a free ride? Does he actually think immigrating to a new country wasn't going to cost him anything? How many years did he live in the US? Understand wanting a better life but this is what you put your family thru when you go into a country that you do not have citizenship and just expect to stay. You should try to do things ahead of time or enter the country legally and go from there. You wouldn't have had to flee to Canada if you hadn't snuck into the United States. Most of these people don't even try to enter the country legally and go about it the right way. They just come on in and then cry when shit doesn't go their way down the road.

Everyone bashes the USA but the same thing happens everywhere because nations have LAWS. Ask anyone from Mexico and they will say the same if not worse happens at their southern border that happens at the USA border. There is a legal way and illegal way to enter and live in a country. Unlike his extended illegal stay in the US, he went through the proper legal process in Canada and was rejected.
