To all people here that object to Germany not making everything English-speaking.\n\nIn my experience working with a large German corporation, when in a remote meeting of 200+ people a handful of people say they prefer the meeting to be held in English, it’s going to be in English, even if it means that the speakers will automatically dumb down the content by 80%, have problems with vocabulary, and struggle to get across the finer details. The documentation for IT stuff will be written in approximate English to please the 3-5% readers who just wanted to earn a higher wage for a few years, but not commit to the culture of their host country.\n\nIf both sides speak only a second language and not their mother tongue, what are the chances of ever feeling like you really understand the other? It’s like shaking hands wearing gloves. If you come to Germany or any other non English speaking country, and feel at home there, commit. Learn the language. Embrace the cultural differences. Germans are reserved on the surface, it takes some effort for them to warm to strangers. But given time, most of them are happy to do so, and can be very loyal friends. \n\nIntegration into the society of a country you emigrate to is a two-sided story. The host country certainly has to make it easier, but it’s still an onus on the immigrants. Not being willing to accept that the host nation is culturally different isn’t an option. English is certainly an international language, because it is the language of a former worldwide colonial empire. But that’s no reason to expect that English is enough for a satisfying integration into any society.\n\nRacism is an issue in many countries that are historically very homogeneous, and having a significant minority can actually make it worse. But that’s not limited to Germany.

There are skilled immigrants here willing and able to work, already! They are the thousands of mothers who have absolutely no support with childcare. I know pharmacists, teachers, business graduates, and other professional women who are stuck at home. Schools have unreliable times, somedays school starts at 8:00 other days at 8:45, the children are let out at even worse times; somedays 11:30, other days 12:30, and sometimes 13:15. The kindergartens will call with every kind of excuse to have your child picked up early, and, of course, shortage of staff. And there is the asnwer to the problem! Educators are not paid enough and no one wants to become one I don't see how this will get any better in the future. It may be a good place if you are skilled and don't have a family, if you do, Germany is not a place for you.

Trudeau has ruined Canada with its open door immigration policy. When trump was elected I rember him saying Canada welcomes you and ?he had people coming from roxem road like crazy . What was he thinking with his over immigration. And then there’s so called diploma mills from no name colleges made things even more worse. Canada needs to send international students back to India when they are fi disused there diploma . A study visa was never a promise to permit residency. If that didn’t make things worse you had the so called international students lined up at food banks to get free food how embarrassing that food is meant for people\nLiving below the poverty line and as a student on the application you have to check that little box saying you have enough money to feed yourself.

35K homeless at any given night. This is only going to get worse

I am a pharmacist who own his business .making 160 k a year .i can’t make it any more .very depressed and I think I wasted my life here.being living in Canada for almost 25 years old .it become in sane to live here .currently suffering from depression as the country getting worse everyday .. not sure where is the way out . Why some skilled immigrants are leaving germany? I have many friends who did that- IT, finances, etc. 1. Very high taxes and thus net salaries comparable to Eastern Europe. A senior dev in Bulgaria gets 2000-3000 NET. After taxes in Germany, well, he will get a little less. 2. Cost of living in Germany is much higher- rents, energy(because of green policies and taxes), services(because of costly labor), etc. \nImagine a budget of 1000-1500 eur to give you a nice apartment(400-500), bills, food and bars/restaurants 1-2 times per week. With a net salary of 2500 eur(average for qualified jobs in the capital) you can save 1000 eur or more with ease. With almost no illegals security, standard of living, etc is close to german. That is why qualified bulgarians do not go to Germany anymore. Same comparison can be done with all other EU contries. \nBecause of socialist policies for equal payment, high taxes, etc even germans leave Germany. What was the number? I think I saw more than 100000 qualified germans leaving each year. But why stay? To be taxed so that an engineer gets 1.5-2 times the janitor? With german social security unemployed get more than many working people. Rent covered, money for food and more and social payments leave you with more than the one working for twice your income because he pays rent, bills, etc.\nThere was an article I think in DW years ago about unemployed young people working for 2 years paid by gov and leaving the job market forever. They admitted the 2 years were just to mark the requirement for unemployment payments but that a nurse net salary was close to social security so why go to work. Do you think qualified people want to work for no money? What is the stimulus for the young to study if the salary will be close to with no degree? The politicians solution? More people on social security(non qualified illegals) and EU directive for making minimum wage 50% of average thus making the benefit of getting qualified even lower.\nGood luck Germany. I wish you could succeed but I and many of you lived in socialism. Did the equal payment help or make things worse making everyone to stop working and want to emigrate to where qualification meant more money and rich life?

I'm Brazilian, I love Canada and I lived there for 4 years, 2 in Montreal and 2 in Toronto. I'm very sad to hear about the situation Canada is in now, it's unbelievable! \nToday I live in Germany, but I hate living here, despite the quality of life and security that this country still has, there are other factors with which I have not adapted. \nWhat I can say is that it's getting harder every day to choose a country to live in, because they all seem to be decaying. Today, when I think of a new country to live in, I have a lot of doubts, there aren't many options. If a country like Canada is like this, everything else must be much worse.\nCoincidence or not, Canada, among others, began to decline after the country embraced the Woke “culture” and opened its doors to certain types of immigrants who are incompatible with the country's culture. I am a third generation Canadian. I have seen the transition from my childhood to present in this country and trust me. This country is officially a shit hole. And yes, I will blame the government because they’re the reason why it has become a shit hole. I moved to Australia from Canada over 20 years ago. After the draconian lockdowns and being forced out of my job by j mandates, I've wanted to get the hell out of this country. Since Labor won all state elections and the federal election, things have taken a serious downturn. It's a big clown show. The state government here in Victoria, home of Dictator Dan, has racked up such a colossal debt that there's just no way out of it. They're raising taxes and making up new ones as the go along into the abyss. There's nothing here but a big real estate bubble and when it pops, there will be tent cities all over the place. The government created the problem just like in Canada. They increased the population by 1.6% in ONE SINGLE YEAR with immigration and now there's not enough housing to meet demand. The lockdowns took all my savings and a chunk of my superannuation to just survive, and I was robbed of over a year of earnings by the government. I've been stuck in this massively over-priced hovel for 3 years longer than I had planned and now would be lucky to even be in the top 20 picks for a rental, at twice the price. It's only a matter of time before the job market implodes due to business closures and the all around terrible climate in which to start new business. I want out, but the prospect of returning to Canada is beyond depressing. Everything that drove me out of Canada in the first place is 10x worse now. My other alternative is UK but I don't feel like going to prison for liking memes about Keir Starmer on Facebook, so UK is out of the question. Not to mention that it's economically doomed and has a worse healthcare system than Canada. There are lines around city blocks to get into a GP clinic.

Who cares. You talk a lot without a clear goal. We have a proverb that says:” Accept your monkey since you may get monkey worse”. Most Westerners move to Dubai but they are surprised to find Dubai as a mini-Indian city. Where you go, you will get an Indian smell with carry. ☠☠☠☢☢☢☢??????

I am a Serbian and Canadian living in Canada for the last 24 years. I love \nthis country I respect this country but my God is so much different than it used to be or it is me. This summer I went with my kids and wife to 6 different countries in Europe Eastern Europe and Central and have seen 2 alcoholic then I come to Canada I see thousands of drug addicts on the street. everything is overpriced ppl do not enjoy in here. When I came in 2000 Serbian economy was low due to the war now it is better and Canadian economy is worse so the gap is very small. you need to make 6000$ to live just ok and I do live well but there is always but. I call it a pressure cooker, I wish all Canadian travel abroad a bit just to realize that they were lied too and that there's a lot of bs. I can give you an example: Condo in Belgrade same size property tax is 200$ per year condo in Qc Gatineau 2500$ plus condo fees 400$ per month basically 7000$ wasted for what? no dr wholes on the street broken system. It will be for sale. I agree paying taxes on my house where I live but for rental property when you deduct all the expenses you invested so much money without any profit. the one that works and the one that scams the system make the same amount of money and we live approx the same. something is wrong there. I will live for many years to come but definitely not spending my whole life here due to many circumstances and expenses. Family values are getting killed and I have issues with that. The more I was pushed to change the more I went to church and believed in old fashioned traditional values. As you said I will always be grateful for what I made but working hard for two jobs in the last 20 years I would make that somewhere else too. Canada has changed too much since I came that's for sure. What triggers me the most fake approach when ppl say I make 100k wow then you didn't get that, that is only on the pay stub. how much did you get 50k that is the real money then you need to add deductions house tax this tax, sewage, water it comes less and less and then you realize that in reality you make more but you spend so much more with less quality of life. who cares how much you make the question is how do you live with the amount that you make.?

After reading a few of these comments, the main take aways are, there are a lot of immigrants, things cost more, healthcare is a mess and inflation.\nI am sorry that things are hard, the costs of everything are up everywhere in the world so good luck in gentrifying other nations and making your problems their problems.\nIt pains me to no ends that after things get tough in Canada many are ready to jump ship for better softer areas where they will trash the place with their incomes creating inequality there as well and then blaming the mess that they will create on the indigenous people that they will abandon for better pastures.\n\nAs a Canadian of native ancestry I never had it anywhere as good as many of the people here complaining about their middle class woes.\n\nMaybe if you fought for a change, like more housing to bring down the prices and fought corporate greedflation and gouging, realizing that much of this problem, the attack on the healthcare services, much of it being done by the conservative governments, then perhaps you would not be so annoyed with Trudeau.\n\nHe is not helping the housing problem by not building the 2 million new homes that he said he would but NIMBY people are making this difficult. They want the charm of a nice middle class feel to their neighborhoods but when it comes to housing, they don't want to build affordable near them and then they complain with their rents are too expensive or the costs of things too high. \n\nI can't say I feel much pity or empathy with most of the people complaining about their lots in life because as far as I can tell, many natives would love to have your problems but the best that many of them can do is to live in their own lands, homeless, even on their own reserves because there is just not enough housing. Yet when the prices of housing was going up, many homeowners loved it, even though it meant that the poor, the actual poor and not you lot, were stacked like firewood into smaller and smaller rooms with no AC so it was hot in the summer and freezing in the winter and the slum lords are having a hey day. \nThe actual first nations people are homeless and being killed daily and are arrested for being poor daily but you lot think you have it bad. \n\nSorry, when non first nations people say that they will leave Canada because its not how they remember it when they were kids and its worse now so they will jump ship to gentrify other nations, I just shake my head and hold open the door as you leave the nation and wonder at your arrogance and egoism.

Canada is not a good country to live in, there are many better options today, as shown by the number of Canadians leaving. You will basically live to pay taxes for a corrupt govt and you will not be free to choose the life you want. You are a lot better of in any country in Europe, like Spain, Italy or even Denmark, also better off in Asia, like in Malaysia or the Philippines, and even in South America, like in Argentina or Paraguay.\nMost Canadians ignore that Canada is bankrupt and collapsed, but it's getting worse and it will be too late when they do. Germany is getting worse and worse, let alone the racism

I was a soldier, was deployed and thought I was fighting for Canadian values. Now I sit at home and watch as my country crumble down around me. I'm a wounded/mildly disabled Vet. I got wounded again back in Canada by getting my leg stabbed/slashed. I waited 4 years for imaging, and routinely have to wait 2 weeks to see a doctor for a 5 minute visit. Bombed-out roads in Syria are no worse than the pothole-infested streets. Under the streets, we have failing water mains.\nOur current government has no compass, we have no direction and our priorities are random and trivial. I have started referring to our country as Can'tada due to the seemingly endless things we can't seem to do.

After 8 years I can’t bear anymore it’s getting harder and harder I‘m middle-aged Man, single , highly skilled in field networking Engineer , I consider myself hardworking, results oriented, practical but the accomplishment here moving sooooo slow let me explain: it took me 1 year to get the driving license although I have driving experience for 16 years ! It took me 2 years to eventually find an apartment although my income consider to be above average! More than 18 months for the language! More than 2 years for wife reunion! , …. Etc the bureaucracy is the biggest enemy of this country without finding a real solution it will be worse! Plus other challenges like language, wealth, social life, but for me was the bureaucracy the hardest!!

The economy has been falling apart for years and you know it's getting even worse when the government tries to prevent people from kicking tenants into the streets and majority of them are women. This is happening all over the US and it's getting worse by the year.

Being born in Saskatchewan as well I agree that Canada has suffered immensely in the last decade. I spent the majority of my adult life in Vancouver back when you felt safe everywhere you ventured. Not now, I'm socked at the decline especially the violence and drugs. I've lived in a few other countries over the past 30 years none have surpassed what has happen in Canada. I currently live in the middle east and have never felt safer. The taxation is crazy, the health care system is substandard and getting worse. For those who want to retire, Canada is not very friendly and typically way overpriced. I'm seeing a trend over the last 10 years of people opting for a warmer more friendly climate to spend what should be your years to enjoy life. Something I fear impossible in Canada's current climate!

My family immigrated here in the 1950s out of war torn Europe for a better life. Things have changed so much since I was a kid in the 80s and 90s. Toronto was a safe city with a good vibe. Things were reasonably affordable. Trudeau didn't start a lot of the problems, but he massively accelerated them. Government is openly hostile to basically anyone who was born here. They sold out the country to wealthy foreigners. I make a decent income but I still can't afford a house. Taxes are killing me. My doctor is horrible, but I can't find a new one. Civil liberties went right out the window. The people are cold and sullen. Crime is getting bad. Life just feels like it gets a little worse every year. I've been mulling it over for a long time, but might finally be time to head south. There's got to be something better than this, because I'm getting older and life now just feels like going through the motions.

Leaving may solve your problems but only for very short time, because whatever place you end up in, it may be no better, and good deal worse, since you won't be a citizen there. Remember too, that Europe and US are all afflicted with the same WOKE, antidemocratic malady destroying Canada. The only sure way to improve situation is by staying, standing up and fighting (legally, and non violently if possible) for what you believe. It's honestly getting tough to live anywhere. Global inflation is everywhere!! I live in The United States, and it's no better here, it's worse. There are many times I have thought of moving to Canada, because I'm so tired of the safety issues in this country. So tired of republicans stripping the rights away of the common people except for guns. They believe in everyone to carry any kind of weapon possible and it's killing our kids. I am tired of it. I would not convince anyone to live in my country right now, unless they want to live in a place that will be an authoritarian state in 5-10 years if the wrong people get back into power.

I see no potential anymore to stay in Canada. We just left Canada 2 weeks ago. Now we’re in the US. Canada has gotten worse for the last few years or decades according to some. When we applied for Canada, all the prosperity was promising. It was like second or third option behind the US and UK. And now, after 7 years, we have decided to really act and do what’s best for our family and the future of our kids. The main reasons why we left Canada, it’s the high and doubled taxes, the very slow healthcare, you get to start to zero despite your decades of managerial experience, they don’t honor your diploma cuz they have their own standard even if your education or work is US standard, the housing and rentals are skyrocketing. Imagine if the rentals are increasing every year by $50-150 is insane. It’s just so inhumane. Back in my birth country in the Philippines, if you’re poor or low income family..the government don’t tax you. You get a high percentage of healthcare assistance and you also get some free social services including monthly allowance from the national government and another separate assistance from the local government. Canada is beautiful if you have money with all the good and kind people around, but the expenses, it’s gonna kill your pocket.

Canada is like my country Sweden. It was nice but now so much worse! High tax and you get nothing. High crime and drogs. I blame the goverment and The leaders.

I was born and raised in Canada, 3rd gen on my Dad's side and 2nd gen on my Mom's side. I'm retired and would move abroad, but am impoverished now. Canada is a tragedy that is still happening. There are no good reasons why we are where we are now. This country has very little resemblance to the Canada I grew up in. It's a disgrace, and it's still getting worse. Alina, do not apologize for being able to see the reality here. Most of us do, and only the fools can't see it. Go where you are treated best, and don't look back.

Good luck with finding a new place to live, at least for a while. I don't recommend coming to the US, because we're just as much in the dumps as what I've seen on Canada (better in some and worse in others), and until we get our act together, and that's totally on us, then you should try a different place.

Now memory came back to me when I was in Vancouver for 3 days and enjoyed my time over Canada in 2015 for a concert, Canada was the first country I've visited outside of the United States I'll never for get it the people where amazing very polite there was a moment in my life that I wanted to move to Canada now thinking over my decision after some years later I'm glad I didn't. I can't believe how bad it has gotten I'm now sure its gotten worse now. Respect your decision I glad to see your doing it, I would love to experience life for us... we only live once it'll be amazing for anyone do what you are doing, I have been thinking of going over doing content about traveling because it is about the journey and if for some reason If I like then.... go for it! People cannot wait to move here from other countries. But it's not because we are getting better, it's because there countries are getting worse. It's hard for someone from Canada to see it get poorer, it's a really sad situation. I'm moving 6 months out of the year to another country, just to get away from it all.

It's all fine and well that you want to leave Canada but where will you go that's any better? After all it is your choice. The problems we see happening around the world are a global problem. There are at least 2 major wars going on. Inflation is rampant in most countries in the world and we ARE heading for a global economic depression that will dwarf anything that we've seen in the 1930's. Speaking for myself my roots are here in Canada which is not the Canada I grew up in anymore. Sadly. Used to be a really great place to live until Trudeau and his band of thieves ruined it. I may as well make my last stand here. If I was going to move where would I go. The EU? Absolutely not! They're tanking. America? No effing way! The American empire is collapsing. Along with the FED note. South America? Don't think so. Most S. American countries are iffy at best. Australia? No. They're nuts. New Zealand? No. They're struggling badly and people are leaving there in droves. Africa? No way in hell. So that doesn't leave very much. Antarctica? Little on the cold side. Few amenities. ;) May as well stay where I am and take my chances. Better the devil I know than the one I don't. If you're serious about moving out of Canada be sure to do your due diligence and research about your target country. Grass always looks greener on the other side but many times isn't once you get there. One place that I AM attracted to is the Azores. Beautiful place. Friendly people. Good climate. One drawback is that I don't speak Portuguese. And I would have to be independently wealthy. After a certain amount of time out of the country I would lose my Canadian pension. It's said that where we are is where we're supposed to be. I may as well take my chances, make the best of a crappy situation and stay here. There really is no better or worse place than Canada. The majority of the countries in the world are struggling with their own problems. I'm not willing to jump from the frying pan into the fire. One of the biggest reasons I want to stay in Canada is that if it does come to a nuclear shooting war it would be very unlikely that Canada would be attacked. So here I'll stay. For better or worse. The LIberals won't be in power forever and if people have the smallest amount of sense, so few will vote for them in the next election that the Liberals will lose party status. I fervently hope that happens. ;)

No hope in hell!\nEnded up in Abu Dhabi, and Cayman Islands.\nMy parents brought me to Canada to give me a better life, as well as for themselves, and now I have to leave it to survive.\nWTF?! Broke my parents heart.\nEventually came back to Canada, as my pareents were still here, getting old, and sickly.\nMom passes away first, then dad a few years later.\nGot married, moved to Montreal from GTA - don't move to Quebec, it sucks!\nCost of living here is impossible, and it's getting worse every year and every month.\nHealth care is awfull. Language discrimination in Quebec is terrible.\nI want to move to Croatia, but wife does not.\nIt's part of EU, and Schengen group of nations too.\nWe lived there for over eight months. Got a family doctor in less than a week over there. Same with various\nmedical specialists. We'd fill a large shopping cart with food over there for about $100.\nWent to Costco a couple of weeks ago, and it cost me over $500 to half-fill one up here!\nWhile there, we had across the EU health care coverage.\nI drive one hour outside of Montreal to Cornwall, Ontario, and I have no health coverage.\nHave to buy travelers insurance to drive to any other province in Canada.\nTotally ridiculous.\nHomeless people in a small town just east of Toronto, where I lived before. was a nice little place.\nNow, it's a dump with unfortunate people sleeping outside on the main street.\nWhat's happened to Canada that I knew once?\nLong reply, but had to vent.\n\nGood luck, Alina.
