I am a Canadian. I am proud of our government. I have many American friends. My heart goes out to them. It’s gonna be a tough four years, but I stand by Canadian and I support Canadian. I am a proud Canadian and will defend my country.

Trudeau took pains to distinguish between everyday decent Americans just trying to get by and their unhinged government which is leading them into economic and political ruin. As a Canadian who has traveled extensively in the US, and has friends there, I hope American citizens can save themselves.

Lets see Trump talk like this to his people....It's hard to deal with someone who is constantly changing the goal-posts on the fentanyl crisis (whatever that is...)to other petty things. Trump is a very dumb person, who really is not in control of his administration. Musk is the real guy running the show going by what he's been doing. As a Canadian, Americans have always been looked at as my friends who I would have no problem standing beside if things went real bad. your Mussolini dictator is not doing anything good for your country, he is trashing it before your eyes.\nSo long comrades, enjoy the free vodka provided by Russia.

This is a sad day for Canadians our ally and friend has stabbed us in the back to take our country. Canadians are heart broken that this has happened. We do not understand why. I have had many Canadian friend including my first serious girlfriend. I worked with exchange Candian military folks and saw them as full partners. On D-Day Candian troops had their own beach which the successfully captured. They were by our side in Korea and all of our other wars. DJT's excuses for the tariff are fabricated lies exactly as it made up lies that President Zelensky did not show thanks and appreciation. Why is DJT's admin lying? Is it simply incompetence or something worse?

As a Canadian, I'm fearful what's in store for us and our friends in America. Seems the governments of both countries always have their hands in both people's pockets.

Good job Justin. There's nothing else you could have said or done. The problem as I see it, is that responding in kind to Trump like this is possibly to invite an invasion, justified by Trump claiming that Canadian assets are essential to US national security. It's hard to parse the provocation from the US as anything less than a pretext to eventually try and annexe Canada. Maybe Russia will attack the Baltics at the same time. It's becoming increasingly obvious that the US Government is no longer a friend to the free world.

Again, I will say we Americans love our Canadian friends! You have every right to come down hard on America. Make it hurt! Maybe Republicans will finally wake up to how cruel and hateful Trump is and see that he is totally out to destroy America not only at home but abroad.

Canadian here....appreciate JT's message, and stand by him in this situation, but sadly know that our long friendly relationship with the USA does not matter at all to this administration. Fentanyl from Canada isn't a real issue - in fact, significantly more comes into Canada from the USA, along with guns, than the other way around - but that fact doesn't matter at all to the administration or their MAGA followers. Facts and logic are not involved in this. Canadians are quiet and peaceful people who are proud of their country, and we are coming together over this shared cause. Canadian here- I hate Trudeau just as much as most Canadians, and as it seems most Republican Americans do as well. But I fully stand behind him at this hour. He might have shit the bed for most Canadians during his time as PM, but when it mattered he has stood up for Canada. Review the facts and educate yourself on the current situation between CAN and the US. I will be the first to admit, Canada has not done enough in terms of its own security and military, but these failures should not be the decay in our friendship as nations. The US DOES NOT subsidize Canada, it DOES NOT give money to Canada. In simple terms- the larger country, with the largest economy in the world (USA) buys more from its Northern brother, which produces vast amounts of natural resources which the larger southern country requires. As for the booing seen at most recent sports events in Canada, that is directed at the President, not the average American. I myself would never boo a national anthem, an anthem that millions have sacrificed to protect and defend. But I understand the pain and anger that is coming from my country. We have always been allies, friends, and to most even family. I do hope that in the future our relationship can heal and move forward but the current actions being taken by the American admistration are horrendus and upsetting to most of the world outside of the US. I wish us all the best in the future, be nice to one another, and always remember that the US and Canada have fought, spilled blood, and died alongside one another in the fight for democracy and freedom around the world.
