Interestingly, the housing crisis is happening in anglo-centric countries, the UK, US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Ireland. Even in Canada, Quebec’s housing is not doing as bad as the rest of the country.

This is what happens when you think you are being a world leader by letting any Tom Dick Harry Bloke move to your country as though you are selling them infinite pancakes. \n\nIt's a good thing other countries like Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand have made immigration harder and more specific-needs driven as opposed to a revolving door. One day, Canada will be overrun with migrants from developing countries and naturally, that will pull them down with it. Why stay in Canada when you have a neighbor that can offer more for your buck - the Canadian government never accounted for that when they made immigration easier than receiving a university admission.

I'm gonna propose something not so crazy because Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the US all do different parts of these already - that any country that's majority English speaking/common law based legal system can opt in to standardize credentials for high school, university, and trade schools. Each country publishes an annual skills shortage list and any citizen of those countries with the right credentials can apply for a work permit (so you can be properly vetted) that becomes valid with a job offer. The US & Canada already do this for select occupations through NAFTA and Aussies can already effectively move to the US under the E-3 visa program. I'm American but went to university in Australia. It's really silly that we don't already do this. I also live in Florida now and work with people from Trinidad, Jamaica, Bahamas, etc. and it's such an unnecessarily burdensome process to hire a professional who you know already has the credentials and work experience.

You go home . #6 No money made here in the US being deposited in oversea accounts . #7 There is a limit on how much $ can be sent to the family of recent US citizens , can be lifted after 2 years of living in US . #8 No recent US citizen can hold any political office , anywhere …#9 Failure to abide by the laws in this country be it state or federal , you go home citizenship revoked ( within reason ) #10 No flying your previous countries flag or colors on your car or home . What ? Sound communist ? It’s not , these are guidelines for several countries , Israel being one , there it’s 2 years military svc , women included . New Zealand , Australia , japan , etc …….

Canada is not a smaller version of the US trying to have the same policies as the US. We are a commonwealth country and align more with New Zealand, and other commonwealth countries who do not bully others.

I am Indian and if I had to immigrate I would only choose english speaking countries except UK, I am fine with USA, CANADA, AUSTRALIA and NEW ZEALAND. But I can't, I have too much duties in my own country here, I have to look after my Grandpa, Grandma, mom, dad, sis, uncle who is in his 50s and ill, so...... Immigrating is not an easy task, people who might hate immigrants should know a lot of them had to sacrifice.

Any trip outside the United States will tell you about how few people would want to move to the US if they could live in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, or Europe instead. Probably a whole lot of other places, too. The United States has too many of its citizens living in fear. That’s a culture whose very admirable democratic and social goals are subverted by worshipping aggression and religious extremism, the very things they say they were fighting against in the Middle East and Afghanistan. I know that many Americans feel that way about their country and their fellow citizens but feel powerless to change it and that the plutocracy (which is largely in day-to-day control) seems to block any progress towards a better way of living.

I think housing price issues also happened in countries with easier immigration policies such as Australia and New Zealand. \nI remember a famous YouTuber has addressed New Zealand's housing issue before.

Health insurance in the states… declined because pre-existing condition. \n\nI’d move so many other places. Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Scotland, Britain, I’d even consider, Chile, Brazil and Mexico way before the USA. No thanks.

At least our banks in Australia don’t go broke like in US . Since the Covid lock downs a lot of people are homeless all around the world . I live in Sydney and I could not care less if we are isolated . We still can visit New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and South East Asia . I rather live in Australia than overseas because my relatives in the UK , and Cyprus didn’t care to spend time with me when I visited there . Their attitudes are not laid back . Anyway there are international students who find work here in Australia . We have heaps of lovely places in Australia to visit . There are amazing places in Western Australia and the rest of Australia to see . I agree Canada is amazing as I have been there but it doesn’t mean Australia is a dump like you are saying . The fundamental problem with Canada and this also applies to many other advanced economies is that housing costs have been allowed to skyrocket.High immigration in combination with low interest rates and certain tax breaks and buyer incentives have all combined to cause this.What this means is that the average citizen is now paying too much out of their income in either rent or house repayments and this reduces spending in the rest of the economy and is a relatively wasteful use of capital so wealth creation has also declined.Australia,New Zealand the UK and Netherlands and parts of the US have also fallen into this vortex.

The figures don't tell all of the story when it comes to physician salary comparisons and tax-to-GDP ratios, for instance.
