I spent a lot of time in the States as a child, mostly in the Los Angeles and Seattle areas. It was fun on the beach, going to Disneyland and it was nice staying with relatives and swimming in their pool everyday in the summer. However, I am Canadian and my heart belongs to Canada. Despite the fact that we as a nation do have our imperfections and problems, I am loyal to my country and want to contribute whatever I can to this place. Plus of course, there are the myriad aspects of life in the US mentioned in the video that I wouldn't be able to tolerate: lack of reproductive rights, attacks on the LGBTQ community, lack of safety/gun violence, no universal health care etc.

Thanks for your video; very well done! Immigrated to Canada 15 years ago, and I, too, experienced the problem with Canadian labour experience to get a job in my field even after make some studies here, but in the end, I made it. Finally what made me stay here was not job or making-money opportunities, it was Canadian values, culture, landscapes, less crowded cities, life quality and quietness. I love this country. I like USA to visit though.

Take a gander at any large, medium, and even a few small cities.\n\nHave you ever heard of Detroit (once proud home of my beloved Motown music), Baltimore (complete devastation), or Chicago (my home town—don’t make me cry)?\n\nThe entire homeless situation started when mental hospitals were snake pits and certain factions demanded that people be released.\n\nSure, it sounds humanitarian but they didn't bother to consider what would happen to mentally ill patients suddenly left to their own devices on the streets.\n\nThe do gooders actually were foolish enough to believe that the seriously ill patients (schizophrenic, bipolar, borderline, and plenty of others) would take their meds on their own. It doesn't work that way for patients who are not in contact with reality.\n\nNow we add extreme drugs (crack, meth, heroine, ketamine, whatever they hand out at parties, etc) and severe cases of PTSD/PTSS. It's obscene that we have veterans on the streets.\n\nHeath care--?. Pre Obamacare it wasn’t terrible but medicine had become a CYA project. We are so litigious (side eye to John Edwards ) that doctors practice defensive medicine and carry high limit malpractice insurance (guess who pays for that?). Every decision is driven by avoiding lawsuits, not proper patient care.\n\nPost Obamacare, US health care is an unmitigated disaster at every level. We’re short on doctors, too. Many quit and students are losing interest—medicine won’t pay enough anymore to justify $500K in loans.\n\nWe could repeal every bit of Obamacare tomorrow and still not be able to fix it. The leviathan grew tentacles that released toxins into every nook and cranny of the system. Now that they have buried themselves in critical layers, it would be impossible to yank them out.\n\nI have a good PCP who is booked 6-8 weeks out. Specialists? Hah. GI, neuro, and derm? Four to six month wait post referral.\n\nI never thought I would say such a thing but I would probably swap the Serial Sexual Predator occupying the WH for your Little Lord Fauntleroy.\n\nCan Canada compete with us in corruption? Surely, in 2023 has caught a cell phone video, right? Where are the videos? Show me the proof. There is plenty of footage of BLM destroying property and injuring, even murdering innocents. If we gripe about this behavior, we are raaayyyycccciiiiissssts.\n\nNo rational adult would claim that the US is not a violent country and becoming more so. Nor can we claim to have eliminated racism. That takes time; it cannot be done by force.\n\nOur economy went from smokin hot to dumpster fire in a short span of time. Pre election, head hunters were shaking the trees to find job candidates.\n\nOur unemployment is up as are our taxes with the stomping out of the tax cuts. \n\nDespite the endless sloganeering about how the Trump tax cuts only benefited “rich” people, it’s quite the opposite.\n\nHigh earners lost their pet deductions and lower income taxpayers were quite pleasantly surprised when they did their returns. The cuts were targeted to preserve wealth for the middle and lower classes.\n\nI could go on for another 100 pages but you get the idea and I get crabby writing for free.\n\nI will leave you with the caution that it’s best if you doubt and question any data and any stats coming from our government. Those are seldom legit. If the data comes from a study, always look to see who paid for it. And how large the sample size was; how were the participants selected? This is sickening to see, i feel bad for those that came here the correct way and got their citizenship. Ive read alot of comments that say well if the usa didnt have such stringent rules to become a citizen, then this wouldnt happen. Thats like applying for a job without giving them any information about yourself, and expecting to get that job with no experience. Is it so bad these people should learn about our history and culture, need to be bi lingual and go through the entire vetting process? The answer is they should because if we went to anyother country, we would be expected to learn about their culture. You cant even live in cananda unless you have a certain amount of money and takes years to become a citizen, why shouldnt our border be any different? The fact of the matter is our government needs to wake up, put politics aside and address the issues. I have no problem with people coming here, it they need to become legel and pay taxes like everyone else. We are sick of paying for people that do nothing to contribute to our economy. A Coincidence that this video popped up. I had thoughts about considering Canada as a potential candidate for better living. \n\nHowever, this is a problem and it needs to be dealt with...\n\nIf moving to Africa finds its way on my option list I will consider it.

Well this truly is an easy fix. 1. We have an amazing military that isn’t doing anything in the Middle East right now and the southern border obviously needs some help as we can all see in this video. \nOur ports are also a big problem and the coastguard needs some help. The navy anyone? \nLastly, I believe the US had a hand in the Venezualas economic downfall. We should revisit our policies regarding them and the largest oil deposits in the world they have. I think this video is good overall, but downplays the potential severity of our housing crisis. It's not just a problem for renters. Rapid expansion in finance and real estate are only a good thing if they are backed up by real growth, otherwise it's just a bubble that puts the entire national economy at risk. In Canada, it's got many characteristics of a bubble that will crash during an interest rate rise or economic crisis.\n\nAlso income inequality is not the whole story. Wealth inequality has been rising rapidly in Canada and is made worse by rapidly rising rents and inflation. Owning a home outright or with a smaller mortgage means spending less of your income on housing in Canada's current system, so even at the same income level homeowners are dramatically better off than renters and renters have noticed. It's one thing to point at some graphs of the Gini index and say inequality isn't that bad, but that's not good enough when regular people see homeowners buying fancy cars and taking lavish vacations while renters scrape by.\n\nFurthermore, you pretty much ignored the demographic concerns in Canada. We have an aging population, which means we either need high immigration that worsens the housing crisis or higher taxes to pay for growing healthcare and pension costs. Neither option is good and both paths lead to increases political and economic instability. Demographics is one of the main reasons the OECD has a poor outlook on growth in the long term.

while I agree with a lot of this video theres one crucial aspect this video neglects and same with the commenters here.. POPULATION. \n\nCompared to countries like denmark, sweden, japan, france, uk, etc. we have a much bigger country to maintain landmass wise. Infrastructure. USA is similar but they have 10x the population as us. Our population in canada is pathetic. Problem is everyone stays in ontario or BC which is stupid, im in sask I want population. Another thing about infrastructure is our climate. We have such drastic events in our climate across our huge country that takes a toll. Climate problems with our low population is not a good thing. I mean most people outside canada and even within Canada dont believe me but Saskatchewan goes from like -45 to +45C with windchill/humidex. Our forests are on fire often, that is not normal. That costs so much money to fix as well. In summer sometimes, Nunavut or NWT will be warmer then here, we talk about it here when it happens. Think about that. Weather is HUGE in saskatchewan. We talk about weather daily. I never realized until internationals pointed that out that we are obsessed with weather in sask lol. \n\n Our housing market is a joke and I agree we need to invest more in buisnesses but at the same time we need affordable housing, we are in a weird spot. As far as working etc goes people commenting here lol the golden years of the 80s are gone old timers, my parents realize this that you guys were spoiled in one of the greatest time periods in human history - post WWII boom and the effects. I could go on and on how the 70s-90s were one of the best time periods in modern history for various reasons but I wont. There are problems internationally, we live in a globalist world. We still have it good. Go travel and make international friends. This is nothing that we are dealing with at the moment. All I will say though is leave the huge metropolitans like Toronto and Vancouver. Everyone wants to go there because they think 'theres more opportunity' ugh. Theres opportunity across canada but if everyone things like that there will be problems. The idea of Ontario or BC is just a big nope for me (although I go to BC every couple years, love it there I would not want to live there).

Canadian here, and this video is right on the money for some of the most frustrating things about Canada! \n\nOur proudest achievement is our healthcare system, but up until recently, the government has been choking it little by little. Making it so difficult for any Doctor/Nurse to even consider finding work here (and making it impossible to afford getting a medical degree) because you are literally doing it for the love of the game at this point. \n\nEven if you become a specialist in a specific field (which pays really well compared to most careers here) it is unlikely any hospital will hire you. Our hospitals are only interested in making profits by pushing painkillers on Canadians, rather than hiring medical professionals to help fix them. If you become a family Doctor, it is a bit better, because you can open your own practice. But kiss your social life goodbye if you do! The most annoying part of this problem is some people blame all this on the fact that we have healthcare and assume a private American system would be better. Where the real problem is we need more workers and funding into our healthcare to make it better. Not making lives harder for poorer Canadians!\n\nWeirdly enough our Tax system issue didn't stand out as a problem to me until I left Canada and see how taxes are marked elsewhere! It blew my mind that I didn't have to do math when I visited another country and the way we advertise wages is purposely deceptive! In Ontario, we succeeded in getting a $14 hour minimum wage (only in Ontario and maybe one other province). Which sounded amazing until you realize that's $14 without tax... To compare, I was incredibly lucky in Toronto where I found a place for 750 a month and was earning $16 an hour. Sounded like more than enough for the cost of living, but after taxes I was pretty much putting more than half my monthly income in rent. On top of that I had to pay for student loans and other bills. \n\nBottom line, if you are wanting to move to Canada for our beautifully scenic environments, free healthcare, and a stable job? \n\nMove to Finland.

Hi! Great video and generally balanced in terms of the ideas expressed. Having lived in Canada for a very long time, I have to say that it's a good place to be but the two glaring problems are: 1- the healthcare system is broken. It's very hard to see a doctor and even harder to see a specialist. We pay a lot of taxes and at the end of the day we don't get the services that we paid for. I'd rather pay out of pocket but get to see a doctor when I need one. 2- Canada is a Nordic country so you'd better like winter when living here. By contrast in the US you have a variety of climates so easier to find something that works for you. The cost of living is, I agree, very high in Canada, but it all depends. If you compare it to living in California or New York City, I'd say that our cost of living is cheaper. But in the US you do have the choice to live in a more affordable mid-size city, while in Canada options are much more limited (big cities only include Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary).

The difference in cost of living (Canada being higher) I think has become a problem. Also, everyone in the US doesn't have to live in NY or LA, so we can decide on a more affordable city to live in. It might not be as cosmopolitan as NYC or TO, but at least you can afford a home. My Mom was born in Ontario in the 20's, and migrated to the US in the 40's for lack of work. In the 80's, I would have loved to have moved to TO... even had girlfriends there, but doors just wouldn't open. Get in if you can, but if you take away the epidemic of U.S. gun violence (wish we could...), then America is still a good place to live and is still a magnet destination for the world. Great video!

I chose the applying for my self option and filled in my parents details (like my parents applied for themselves) and submitted the application from Canada. Will that in any way cause any problem?

i don t really know where you from,althought, enjoy your video though but i wonder what foreigners thinks about it cause as far as know , Canada overall, a lovely place to be even if consedering health care system as well homeless which is gettin worse and worse but don gt you think any other contry as their own issue? i am not judging you but you need to leave here to understand the canadian mentality. i get frustrated as well about ppverty and all others stuff but tell me any country that don t have any problem these days! poverty is everywhere and i m glad leaving in Montreal, we got everything we want except for health system which is a nightmare!

Ive been to Greece, Ireland, England and Scotland. I will agree that tap water and food is alot healthier abroad than in the states. Public transit sucks in most American cities. There are trains EVERYWHERE in the UK. You can walk a block and see a train there. But the sprawl here is the problem so you mentioned that. I will say Americans are friendlier to tourists than most foreigners, but most Americans are really mean when they travel abroad, so I guess that would balance out. The cost of living argument is hard to agree with, but I wasn't there during the rent hikes, I came back from UK right before they happened. I've heard inflation everywhere is bad, but maybe not in Canada. Love your guys' videos. Keep it up. I always show these to my girlfriend to start discussion/find common ground, and they have not once NOT worked, so well done.

This video is spot on! My parents and I immigrated to Canada when I was in high school and I loved it at the time. My parents always complained about work and money and wanted to go back to India but I didn't understand why they were so negative. After I started working, I moved to the US to pursue more work opportunities and now I have been living here for the past 10 years. I always consider moving back to Canada since my family and friends are there. However, I don't see myself doing so for some of the reasons you mentioned in the video: high cost of living, overwhelmed health care, and the cities are a bit boring for living or traveling. The US is by no means perfect and has a lot of the same issues that Canada does (high cost of living, taxes, healthcare) and its own set of problems (crime, uneven school quality, political divides). However, for the time being it's a better fit for me which is why I continue to stay here. Ultimately I feel that everyone's experience is a bit different and they have to go through their own priorities to figure out if a move to Canada makes sense. This video is super helpful in providing context for people who are considering moving though!

I came to study to Canada in the 90s, lived and worked here for 8 years, left Canada and always wanted to come back. My dream came true more than 20 years later, I got a very good job in Montreal in 2020, but to find out that the health care system is extremely deteriorated. I decided am going back home soon. My goal is to be back in Europe by 2024. I may have a lower salary, but I will be able to see a doctor when I need it. Thank you for making this video. I felt I was being exagerated about the health care problem.

First minute of the video : Quebec is racist... It was obvious this was coming... English canadian media is at 80% anti french propaganda machine that leads the majority of the canadian population to hate it's biggest minority, including immigrants... yes, this is a form of racism. You are wrong about Canada protecting and caring about homeless and in-need people. The reality is that even though you don't see all the homeless people, there are tens of thousands of them in each city, more so in the warmer climates. The UN has already been on Canada's back for the abuse of homeless people and the cruelty towards them and those with mental health problems. Canada is a fraud and has been deceiving immigrants and visitors for over a hundred years. Many of the homeless people in Canada, especially in the past 20 years and from the start of the pandemic, continuing to this day, are now including people with good educations and many years of high-level job experiences, as well as whole families. These people became homeless because of massive job layoffs and lost everything. Contrary to the popular Canadian ideology, homeless people are not lazy slobs who don't bother to work and need to get their acts together. Many of the homeless shelters are filled with dangerous people, bed bugs, and diseases. Many homeless people choose to find alternatives to sleep safely. Many homeless women experience terrible sexual assaults that rarely are reported and rarely ever taken seriously by the police. Most alternatives to shelters are limited and there are so many restrictions that qualifying doesn't always happen. Many have had their ID stolen, so they are unable to get jobs, rent homes, or even have a day to shower and clean their clothes. Most donations of clothes, blankets, and sleeping bags are disregarded because most homeless people don't have the means to carry things. Their nutrition is terrible, through no fault of their own. Many food banks will not give food to those without a home. Many soup kitchens will only help periodically and not for every meal. Canada's treatment of homeless people and mentally people is not just disgraceful, but criminal. The general attitude of many Canadians, as taught to them by deliberate government propaganda, is that if you are poor or were abused or a victim of crime, is that they did something to deserve it. Rents across Canada are beyond the reach of the majority of Canadians, yet, Canada refuses to set up a council house system like the UK. There are no emergency homes and no emergency assistance even close to what the UK and other countries across the world provide. Canada's continued abuse, ill-treatment, crimes against humanity, and genocide of the First Nations peoples is not a past history, but an ongoing history that is not about reconciliation. It is about shutting them up so that they cannot speak and get true justice, instead of just a federal government settlement of a meager amount that has only increased the addictions of victims, who have no one to help them or a place to turn. Canada lies about trauma help and treatment for people for having been victims, or have developed PTSD (this is a brain injury and only a mental health problem if the person becomes suicidal or is unable to do the basics of essential living), and worse, Canada lies about this in relation to kids. Alberta has a place that they claim is for treating trauma in kids. However, this place is nothing more than a low-level counseling center to reunite kids with their parents, who have been removed by law. Any child requiring help has to deal with just basic counselors, who are not trained in helping traumatized and PTSD kids. In relation to the First Nations peoples, if the teens have mental health issues, and if they have to be temporarily hospitalized by their parents, social workers and doctors will force joint custody with the parents, to treat the kids or remove them so they can carry on the government's crimes against the First Nations peoples. The crimes continue. In these past few months, a baby was left to die in a basket at a nurse's station in the Misericordia Hospital, Edmonton, Alberta. The mother was allegedly treated like garbage and her child was allegedly called a specimen. But this is not the only case of such abuse of First Nations pregnant mothers and their children. A case over a decade ago allegedly also took place, and the number of these cases in this hospital alone may possibly be much higher, and other hospitals may also be hiding such crimes. An infant, who was the victim of attempted murder by one or the other parent, was put in the care of relatives by social workers, who were totally unaware of the crime, but the one parent, who was put in the hospital's mental health unit, mentioned a version of what had happened, and when the relatives found out, they were allegedly reassured by the hospital that they would deal with the matter. The relatives believed, understandably, that the hospital would report the crime, but it never did. Allegedly the hospital covered up yet another crime. The police in the city, allegedly informed at some point, one of the relatives that no charges could be laid even if the child remembered as the Canadian health services do not believe that children below the age of 4 can remember anything. It was when I heard about this that I realized that the reason Canada has gotten away with the crimes against the 1st Nations, immigrants, Canadians, and who knows how many other victims, through the mandated alleged use of forced assimilation and the alleged Soviet-style education system, is because of this fake claim that children and even infants cannot remember things. This deliberate lie to those relatives allegedly by the police, shows clearly that Canada is following the dangerous path in a more stealthy fashion than the Nazis did to the Jews and others they rounded up, arrested, tortured, and/or eventually murdered. Your perceptions are limited by your obvious lack of real knowledge and real experience. Please, if you are going to make such a video, live in Canada, all over Canada for at least 30 years, then comment, please!

I live in victoria, bc. Every single topic discussed on this video is not only accurate but they are things i deal with every day.\n\nI work at a hotel downtown and with all the Homelessness and mental illness my job often seems more about keeping people out of the hotel than letting people in.\n\nWe were one of the last hotels to take cash and debit and we found out the hard way it just doesnt work and now we need credit cards like the other hotels which isnt fool proof and is unfair to people who dont use credit cards (like me) but its better than nothing.\n\nA lot of people are free to move around but they do not function in a way that is compatible with modern society for which there is no escape. A lot of homeless people lead miserable lives it seems and sometimes two people having a bad day end up colliding.\n\nI have a nice home with a roomate but our landlady likes us and isnt as concerned about money as having good tenants. She is 80 something and when she is done with having tenants then i will be in a very tough position and will probably...i dont even know.\n\nTook me years to get a doctor but i have one now and getting pushed out asap is a real thing due to time concerns so have lots of solid facts about your problem and avoid poetry or drama.\n\nEverything in this video are things i think about everyday and its even getting a bit scary.\n\nI love my country and its values but we have a lot of hard work to do i think.\n\nPS i had an accident at work where a chair broke and it tipped backwards and the back of my head hit a protrusion resulting in a minor cut but there was lots of blood.\n\nI called the 811 service and they said to have it checked out and i almost didnt gonto the hospital because i wasnt sure if i could stand waiting for 10 hours.\n\nI was lucky because it took only 2 hours with a bonus tetanus shot. They decided the bump was small enough to not worry about bur i really felt like they were giving 100% while running on empty to get the job done.\nHeroes for sticking with us.

I live in Canada for 20 years, I volunteered in a shutter couple of times preparing and serving food, I haven't seen any black person that's homeless, Winnipeg to be a specific where I lived, where homeless is higher there, yet you showing black people in your video as homeless?! that's just tells me you are racist yourself. \nwhere I used to live, black people especially the immigrants are business owners, and they're hard working people. \nWe all know who are the homeless and why they are homeless not because they can't find job but because they have mental problems then they end up to drugs addictions. Even if the government gave them monthly allowance they used it for drugs. \n\nI wish them peace with in their souls and minds and get back into the right path.

I have lived in central BC, Nova Scotia and I grew up in Calgary. I have never found a family doctor to be hard to find. Homelessness has never been a significant problem. The problems you expressed in this video seems (at least) somewhat exclusive to Toronto and Vancouver. I hate when these two cities are showcased as Canada in its entirety is when obviously, Canada is so much more than that.

Thanks for this video! \nI think that one of the biggest problems is extremely high expectations before making that change. Pun intended ;) \nI've lived in three different countries and soon moving to the fourth ie. Canada. Living in different places gives a broader view on society and helps understanding that nowhere is perfect. I think that immigrants' frustration primarly comes from the fact that we do not make enough research on what to expect when moving. You should write down pros and cons on moving, make sure you understand what are the most important things for you and check if that new country provides that. Watching videos like yours is a great way to start. It really comes down to what you want from life and if you are willing to adapt to achieve it. \nOn the other hand, Canadians' frustration might come from the fact that they never lived anywhere else :)\nAs for my top three things that disapoint me the most: Healthcare, Housing, Technology.

Beautiful and classy ladys... Very enjoyable video. Kudos to you from a Canadian immigrant living abroad. In 1988 in a snowy day, around noon, when returning to my parked car in Square One. Mississauga ON, I slipped and fractured my right hand. The pain was excruciating. Got to the closest hospital emergency room, and I had to leave without being seen by a Dr after 4 or 5 hours waiting, in the most horrible pain I ever felt. I asked but was not given any pain killer. It was not until I returned there that night, that they could see me. They did not do X ray exam, and what they put in my fractured hand cast was incorrect, and the pain continued. Next day after begging for an appointment, I went to a regular Dr office, and she corrected the cast the hospital put wrong. After so many hours I was in excruciating pain without reliable help, made me think and decide maybe that Canada was not what I was heard about it. I had already noticed how expensive living there was. Plus the racist nature of many Canadians, made me realize that I will never have their friendship. I live in the USA ever since the year 1989, and although I absolutely love Canada, I am not interested in living there again. PS> Weather was nasty cold, but the country is prepared to life around that type of weather, so that was not a problem for me. I look forward seeing more of your videos.

Swap Alberta with Quebec and you have a fairly accurate list. Mind you, this video was a year ago as of the time I write this, so things have changed, and will continue to change. But believe me, if you want to be able to make coin, buy a house, and live comfortable while still enjoying a scenic environment with e government historically aimed at pleasing the people and not taxing you up the arse, or if you want to start a business of your own, Alberta is the place. I've never felt so much happiness as I have in Alberta, and moving to other provinces has always been a disappointment and I always found myself wanting to move back to Alberta. Only problem is a relatively short supply of beaches....
