The problem actually isn't inflation, at least here in Kenya. Currently inflation went down from 7.3% to 6.8% . The elephant in the room, call it over taxation. Eventually, things will balance out because really, there is so much a government could tax it's citizen before equilibrity is achieved. I opine that we all calm down, relax. Things will fall into place. Just hold on. I'm not one to give hope, but on this issue I'm sure, a utopian settlement is near.

Is about being wise and doing due diligence.. as well as calculating and taking your time. Good things don't come when you rush.

Basic tip : if you travel legally, with the right channels into Canada you will not have to struggle. The government will even ensure you are getting support while at it. Once you 'cheat' your way in please expect repurcussions. The canadian government is as transparent as you'd like it to be. I came here with no agent, followed the guidelines from the government immigration website, got a visitors visa for 6months, immediately applied for temporary workers visa got it within 45days, upgraded to permanent residency and got it within 60days. I am living in Europe now, but my application to move to Canada was approved last year after a three-year wait. But my cousin, who is currently living in Albany, upstate New York, told me not to make the move. He said it is a bad time to move to North America right now, be it the US or Canada.\n\nLiberal governments had destroyed both countries, he said, and the current Canada is no longer the Canada that I made the application to move to.\n\nBut the life in Europe now is quite depressing as well, cost-wise. Life in Nigeria is only decent for those living affluently in Lekki, Victoria Island, Ikoyi, certain areas of Ikeja and Abuja. Outside of that, life for everyday Nigerians is crap. Water & electricity (NEPA) are highly unreliable & intermittent, so fuel-powered generators are a necessity for living everyday life per household or per apartment in apartment complexes. The banking & government systems are notoriously sluggish, taking weeks and months to process simple paperwork such as drivers licenses, passports, certificates, banking transaction reversals, you name it. Bribery is a daily occurrence EVERYWHERE. Police (if you can call them that, mostly untrained thugs) detain & extort motorists and/or people innocently going about their daily lives, just for the money. Many many many people disappear mysteriously without ever being seen again by family or friends. Lots of inter-racial discrimination and animosity between the three major tribes that make up Nigeria… Yoruba, Igbo & Hausa-Fulani. The federal & state governments are horribly corrupt, bordering on dictatorship. Elections are undemocratic, to say the least, with thugs threatening voters at voting booths. I could go on?\n\nThis is why many Nigerians with any amount of wealth live in diaspora, whether that be the UK, Canada, the USA, Europe, or wherever. And, yeah, be prepared for everything being structured & organized in these countries, especially in North America. The cost of living is definitely higher to pay for a higher quality of living. That’s the difference between a developed country vs a country, such as Nigeria, that’s developing or considered ‘third-world’. Unfortunately, here in Canada we cannot account for the last 8 years under our current administration, which has gone rogue & is out of control, causing high inflation, interest rates and housing and cost of living to soar. This is not normal conditions even to those of us natural-born here. So, we feel for immigrants who have arrived in good faith in the last few years. I’m sure their country of origin is looking better than what is being experienced here in Canada currently.

You've explained it very well. For people like us who have gone through both systems, details about it are like second nature to us, like breathing. But I really want to correct that express entry in Canada is very varied and you don't necessarily need to have a job offer. A combination of your degrees, or the years of work experience you already have could likely already be enough to be approved. It's a very transparent point-based system that you can calculate on your own. Another thing to mention you forgot to mention is Green Card is still not citizenship. You need to have a green card for 5 more years before you can apply for US citizenship as opposed to only a few years in Canada. I moved from a very high paying job in the US (after studying in a US university) for exactly this reason to Canada. I took a large pay cut (still 6 figures), but I was express entry approved in 1.5 years. A year has passed since, and I'm eligible for citizenship in less than 6 months. \n\nIt is a game-changing system for Canada and it will have massive benefits down the line as skilled talent from the US drains to Canada. It will not be apparent yet, but it will become apparent in the near future. I plan to start many businesses and employ people. Canada took me in when the US did not, and so I will definitely start businesses in Canada instead and create employment here. A lot of skilled talent is reasoning along the same lines and a massive shift in the headwinds is coming.\n\nPS - The one thing Canada is not doing well, is housing. The system is set up correctly, but not enough housing is being built, cities expanded, or any coordination done to make sure people are settling in a more distributed manner. My American husband and I moved to Los Angeles from Montreal, because of the fact there was still a lot of live music compared to other places. It was a great 17 years of music but guns started to be more of an issue. Health care was big, and was going to affect us soon, and then tRUmp came in . We knew that the changes were NOT going to be for better health care, or better gun laws, or better immigration policies, and we moved back to Canada. Now we don't even want to visit because of the current situation re all the aforementioned issues. I wouldn't dream of moving back. And numerous friends have asked how can they get into Canada.The Canadian immigration site crashed when tRump won. if not married to a Canadian, most people would be rejected. i appreciate our system of government; tRump would have been tossed out early on with a Vote of No Confidence.

We need the American immigration system in Canada. We need to set a quota on how many people from a given country can receive a green card. All you see now in the GTA and Vancouver are Indians. At the 7:50 mark, Sanjay's employer has to prove he won't negatively impact the wages of US workers, In Canada, due to high immigration, our wages have been stagnant while cost-of-living increases. This is a product of stupid immigration policy set by the current government which wants to bring in 1M immigrants per year.

How did you not talk about the ridiculous cost of living in Canada? Canada is one of the most expensive places in the world to live, and it's only getting worse. Unfortunately it's often immigrants that are causing the problem. Canada doesn't have enough housing to support the amount of immigrants coming to the country, so we all suffer as a result. \n\nI'm also not sure why you didn't mention the fact that Canada is quickly becoming a fascist dictatorship under the current Liberal government. Canadians have been having our rights and freedoms striped away from us faster than any other developed nation in the world, and the mental health of Canadians has been declining rapidly as a result.

I'd be hard pressed to move to USA cuz your medical system prices, wages are less and so many people in a much smaller landscape. Id go for your constitution (1A, 2A) absolutely but Biden is a BIG turnoff for sure, your housing is way cheaper, your taxes are cheaper but... in Canada there is way more space where you can go and not see anybody besides moving to Northern Alaska, Montana or North Dakota. There are PROS and CONS to living in USA/Canada but I would move for dual citizenship and if I had guaranteed medical coverage but still keep a place in Canada to escape back to in case your country imploded under your current government or if I needed medical attention. It would be way better if you had a normal POTUS like Trump imo. Your money is at least worth the face value on the dollar bill... Cdn cash is like worth 50 cents US... we are like a peso currently.

As a canadian, my wife and I are really thinking of moving to the US. The current government here is becoming extremely oppressive. We're thinking of Nevada or Texas. I have a few veteran friends that reside in both states.

No way. One thing people failed to mention is how often citizen's voting rights are suppressed. The whole system is politicized, gerrymandering is real. \n\nNot to mention the politics in the judicial system that extends all the way to the Supreme Court. I was a teenager when my church youth group went on a trip to help repair houses for poor Americans, while I was there I had a crash on an atv and it didn’t appear life threatening so I didn’t go to the emergency room while I was in the states. I am on disability, the government gives me enough money for food and rent. I am currently working with my health care team to figure out if I have brain damage and if that brain damage is why I have problems that make it so I can’t work. My family wouldn’t be able to afford to get proper health care in the United States.

It's hard to call the current government democratic, or to say that banking isn't corrupt.

Why are we seeing this? Because our government has failed the people and the people who support the current establishment have failed the country.

Running from criminal, corrupt, authoritarian governments only to find out America is currently being run by one as well.

Our current administration wants them to come in droves from these third world socialist countries where they blindly re-elect tyrannical leaders. As a Canadian, I have to say this is a good summary of the major economic issues Canada faces right now. Our current government's polices have done nothing but make the problems worse and people are getting angry.

This is so laughable, this whole thing is planned by the current administration. These people have Nots new as how to organize anything. This was organized for them. And there is no reason whatsoever. And Israel has the wall, and we need one. Where is the razor wire? We are the Apache gunships? You are bang on with your assessment. I am now retired but spent my entire career in the private manufacturing sector. Because of poor economic policy, I have watched the decline in the manufacturing sector to which I have been screaming about for the last 20 years. You cannot be a service only oriented economy which we clearly are moving toward. The last 8 years have been extremely the worst with the current Liberal government in charge - Canada needs better leadership and Trudeau clearly is incapable of providing it. It's not too late! The structural bones are there, we just need smarter people in the government to provide the right economic stimulus to make it happen.

Friend, I hope you haven’t left. I think you’re making a terrible mistake. I’ve lived in Calgary for 29 years. Our stats people are tricky. You will not find a house in Calgary for under $600k. Unless you plan to live in a very impoverished, run-down, and dangerous area. In a “good” suburb, not great, you’re looking at $686K - $749K. Most are now selling between $812K - $1M. I’m sorry my friend, those stats are a mirage. They blend in cheap apartments in Edmonton into those stats. For petroleum engineering, congrats for finishing those studies, but it’s been a long-standing political battle in Canada; Albert vs. Ontario on this issue. The current liberal government is openly trying to destroy the industry you’re in and you will struggle immensely to find work.

Our current leading government is nowhere near democratic anymore

Lets not forget the Canadian banks froze certain Canadians bank accounts for supporting a protest. Canadians have lost faith in the government as we currently have a dictator in charge. Castro Jr.

Our current government no longer incentivizes Canadians to invest in businesses since they are taxed so heavily in comparison to the US. Our high taxes are subsidizing the mass immigration to the country, leading to poorer public services, insane health care wait times, etc. If Canadians want to start a business they might as well do it south of the border.

Canada still uses 70s and 80s mentality when operating the country.\nImmigration is important, but is managed extremely poorly. Many new migrants struggle to find a home and to get the proper documents to establish themselves, like the rest of us.\nCanada allowed foreign buyers to buy properties and lands, which have driven the housing market to an insane level we see today. Canadians have to go into debt just to have a roof.\nThe current government spend too much time/money trying to look morally correct than actually doing his freaking job to balance the economy. The increasing reliance on foreign oil isn't helping Canada, either. Domestic oil (like Alberta's) will be mandated out of existence if the current government's mypoic focus on environmentalism and unrealistic goals are fulfilled.

The problem with the Canadian economy is that it is being destroyed by the actions and the policies of the current government. Between those horrible tax increases and the government funded lawsuits against us\nOur economy will fail. We have a leader who seems to be deeply invested in shutting down our oil and gas industry. He shut down oil and gas. Which put hundreds of people out of work. Then he slapped us with a carbon tax. He told us the carbon tax dollars would be invested toward producing green energy projects and manufacturing jobs. So far, the Carbon tax went up again, he banned plastic straws, he’s hitting our farmers with heavy restrictions on fertilizer, because it’s not green enough. \nMany of our indigenous communities have been living for years with contaminated water. He promised he was going to ensure the indigenous communities have access to clean drinking water. He has not fulfilled that promise. \nHe’s bidding $30 billion dollars to hopefully sign a deal to manufacture electric car batteries for Volkswagen. \nHe’s investing in other projects, as well. Unfortunately, he’s only investing in eastern provinces. \nSo far, there has been no investments in western provinces yet. Many of the out of work oil and gas workers in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are still waiting on the jobs they were promised. \nLow wages, high inflation, high taxes and high income housing is bringing a lot of us to our knees. \nOur leader is corrupt. It seems like every week there is another corrupt scandal he and his government are involved in. \nI can’t speak for every Canadian, but I can say with absolute certainty that a large number of us are sick and tired of our current leader. Most of us live with the hope that if our leader can get voted out. Canada may have a chance to go back to the way our beautiful country used to be.
