Why everyone is blaming the government when its clearly the college owners making false promisses and trying to shove in as many students for 5 times the regular fees in their makeshift universities as fast as possible without building them housing and puting naive people in everlasting debt because they graduated way more people than the job market could acomodate for that course?\n\nHonestly us high time Canadians start taking large corporations acountable for how they affect the economy, I say if you need more housing make them pay for it or they are not getting any more students, also limit the amount of college positions to the amount of actual job openings and a lot less people are going into college debt traps.

Foreign buyers (multi multi millionaires) bought empty Canadian houses to park their cash, dont even live in them and then all house prices jumped astronomically. My parents bought their house in 2001 (285k) and sold 5 years ago (850k) when it should have sold for maybe 5-600k max. I strolled in the mall 6 months ago and there was a job fair and I've never seen so many applicants in person, it was like a firesale in the mall. It might also be the WFH boom which indeed saves a lot of money and time for Canadians but heavily impacts spending on local businesses and transportation (thus less economics stimulus). I worry for my kids' future (8 and 2) and their job + housing prospects. I fear this is a worldwide trend, where house prices are sky high and liveable salaried job are scarce.

This lack of access to health care is a new thing. I agree with your assessment. It now seems lonelier in Toronto. \n\nCanada used to be different because anyone with a good job could afford at least a condo, but life became unaffordable not just for immigrants, but for everyone unless you are in your 50s-60s and own a home. \n\nI have friends working double jobs supporting family back home in other countries, but for some of them the family back home sound like they are doing better than them and own a home. It’s like they are sacrificing their life to be in poverty or full of hardships and their families get to go out for dinners and drinks with friends. Not them. Not true for everyone, but for some yes and I worry about their own retirement because retirement in Canada without lots of savings means you might be homeless or forced to live with family even if it’s not your preference. \n\n without investments and savings, it will be hard to beat inflation. Getting into debt and getting bad credit can mean not getting an apartment. \n\nThe birth rate is going down because it is expensive to have kids and income isn’t enough to match with living costs. Getting help from government is really not something everyone gets access too. One person might get housing support, 10 others may get nothing. Different governments offer different things. Programs end and change often. \n\nIn Canada definitely bargain and shop around for good phone plans. one idea is to get a pay as you go until “Black Friday” then every year or two when your good offer expires there will be many others. It’s the time with the best deals saving almost half. For instance, I have 50 gigs for $25 for two years from a large provider. Telephone companies are the one place where people must bargain and even ask for better deals as a must.\n\nThe people you see living in big houses, will have kids that can’t afford the same. This is because prices keep rising. The system protects the very rich, but will also drain the middle class often within 1-2 generations. Do not link your business to your personal finance, or creditors can take your home. Some not knowing this lose everything and rich people know better. \n\nPeople live until they are very old, so inheritance is pretty much meaningless to rely on, so no matter what your parents have you must hustle in life. \n\nI do think Canada can become what we want over time. Citizens need to fight the trend of great community spaces, restaurants and bars going out of business and dumb corporations move in with bad boring restaurants. Like a McDonald’s where maybe a popular cultural hang out was. \n\nPart of the problem is a lack of mixed income housing areas, so it’s hard to stay living where you grew up. Artists and musicians help make a city great, but many cannot afford to live here.\n\nFamilies and communities staying together means more support for those with young kids and older relatives when they need help. Yet how is this possible in a city that is always pushing out lower income people when wealthier people desire the area. \n\nIn Toronto, every time you move you have to take what is available and that might mean moving an hour away from everyone you know. This weakens communities. Plus, if you live too far from your work you will have no time to socialize for most the week due to travel time. \n\nI think those who grew up in Toronto do have a certain culture of acceptance with others from many cultures, because your friends at school were from all over. But with new migrants sometimes it isn’t until the second generation that their social circles get diverse. This can be isolating and it’s even isolating as those from Toronto eventually leave dreaming of staying in one spot and not forced to move constantly when a landlord investor sells every house you move into. \n\n\nToronto really needs to protect affordability of housing for at least some housing in every section so that people can save money if they live in the city, and not have to leave their communities and be far from their friends and family. \n\notherwise eventually people get sick of the hustle and it’s too tiring to travel 1+ hrs each way to visit someone during Monday to Friday. \n\n20 years ago any professional could at least buy a condo. Not today. There is too much competition now and investors are allowed to buy up all the most affordable housing that once was a pathway to owning a home. \n\nRich policy makers got greedy and destroyed canada and hopefully diversity in leadership will help make Canada better. But they perhaps people knew to Canada can reject this lonely structure and help us rebuild Toronto into an amazing place. \n\nWe need to make sure everyone can afford housing with 30% of their income. When I visit America, I always just feel anxious about guns. I'm sure it's super rare to actually get shot and stuff, but it's always on my mind. I just can't imagine that theres probably tons of people with guns around. It makes me a lot more afraid of the poor areas, which I find are more extreme in general. This is the main reason. I am also a little uncomfortable with how the public school system is funded differently by area. I'm used to all schools having close to the same standards.

Many ways we could go about fixing this crisis. Obviously heavily limiting immigration would help, banning all diploma mills that are just student visa scams. Forcing municipalities to get rid of their awful zoning and restrictive rules, could be streamlined by running a nationwide referendum to make zoning a federal jurisdiction and not provincial/municipal and then just adopt something similar to japanese zoning nationwide. Banning or heavily restricting Airbnbs is an other thing that would help. A lot of what the BC NDP with Eby is doing should be done nationwide for sure. Regarding all the homeless people, we could offer them a job to build infrastructure, houses in exchange for a bed and food, something akin to what was done in the New Deal. Could be a super efficient way to get something like high speed rail built quickly. It'd be a contract they'd sign for 5-10 years and at the end of the deal they get compensation for the work they did. Also not every homeless can live in society. When conservatives got rid of institutions like mental asylums, all the people with non fixable conditions got thrown in the streets. Those are people who just can't, regardless of how much we do to help them, live in society, but their people like us so a modernized, humane version of the mental asylums would help a ton not just for these people, but also their family members who'd know that their kid or sibling is somewhere safe.

Inflation is higher than what they say.. real estate prices are out of touch with the actual wages and salaries.. cost of food is unbelievable… rent is ridiculous.. Wages are laughable.. taxes are insane.. we are also taxed on so many things on top of income tax such as .environment, carbon, plastic, sugar tax etc… it is insane.. Healthcare is going through crisis… Getting MRI takes ages.. So now they wanna bring 500k in the midst of all this ? It is going to screw us more .. I also feel sorry for the migrants who are moving out here with lots of hope and ambitions… I also feel sorry for us .. stress = mental health issues….. This government screwed each one of us.. what they are doing doesn’t make any sense to me. They are out of touch with reality.. Immigrants to Canada leave for the U.S. because Canada prefers “high value” immigrants (e.g., physicians, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs with excellent track records, occupations that are expensive to train and/or individually contribute a lot to the GDP) that the U.S. would also like to attract. Not only can many of these people make more money in the U.S., but they often encounter more help and/or less restrictions with professional licenses (e.g., most states have an industrial exemption for engineers, and do a better job at helping foreign doctors and nurses get their licenses to practice medicine). How many times have we heard of a foreign professional reduced to driving a taxi or becoming a housewife when they move to Canada because an immigration official didn’t properly inform the immigrant of the hoops they would have to jump through, and the provincial professional association offered minimal, if any, assistance? \n\nThis PhD student (and others with more academic than lucrative educations) may think he’ll have it made moving to the US but I think he overestimates his value. The small liberal arts colleges that may have hired someone with his background are decreasing in number or changing to a more technical focus (usually to computer science because it doesn’t require expensive labs needed in medicine or engineering). American students are now more critically examining what degrees, if any at all, will lead to better paying careers, and I doubt Myanmar is on their radar as a money-making opportunity.

As an immigrant from Europe (not a country with a high level of poverty or a war), I arrived here in 2016 and I can say I love Canada, a very welcoming country. While I see lots of immigrants returning to their countries or going to other places, this country is amazing, offering tons of possibilities to entrepreneurs, business people and with a wide variety of possibilities. Yes, housing is an issue but it is in many rich countries. I also see a lot of people like me, happy about what they have and what they built. I travelled the world (Australia, Europe, Middle-East, Africa and Asia) and I can guarantee, there is no perfect place. So find the place that suits you best. Do not expect perfection. It does not exist.

last time i was there was in late winter of 2017, there was a lot of red lights (warning signs) back then but people were euphoric because of the surge in real estate prices. the euphoria was so tangible, it felt like i was surrounded by a sect. then the mental health crises was a shocker. the rat race was worse than i remembered. i also realized how immature my generation in canada was, because in my circle barely anyone was getting attached to life long partners, ie being married. mid-sized cities felt like toronto in terms of immigrants. it was warmer. i have a feeling if i landed in toronto now it would be a late 80's eastern bloc feel to it, ie nobody believing in it anymore.

I applied for canadian immigration in the mid 2000s. I ticked all the qualification. I am qualified and i even have enough money to support myself for more than a year even though i have lots of friends and relatives in canada. AND YET, my application was turned down. I have no idea what happened. Im also supposed to get my processing fee back after i was rejected but i never got them anymore. Then i read canada allowed even unqualified immigrants from other parts of the world just bcoz.... Maybe its a blessing in disguise for me coz many friends i know are coming back home. Some maintained their canadian citizenship but are living back in my country, doing great business

There is no such thing as a Canadian resume format ? And the Canadian work experience hesitancy also comes from experience. Lots of very creative shcools and resumes and very creative interviews. One positve is about Canada is we don't suffer liars. You want someone who came from a fly by night school working for you, or operating as your doctor?

It's pointless to apply for Canadian immigration. It takes years to review and costs a lot of money. If you just show up in Canada as an illegal immigrant or refugee, your application will be free and fast tracked. You will also receive financial support from the government. So immigration is not declining. Just the legitimate types. Just ask any Canadian taxpayer for more details.

I was born and raised in Toronto. The Trudeau government has absolutely destroyed our economy and is now scamming poor developing nations to come here and work as wage slaves while packing 25 dudes into a basement. I'm a Brit who has lived here 13 years and my advice to any Brit thinking of moving here is not to. If you can live in a nice county and you have a decent job you are better off in the UK. There is a lot of decline in urban areas here, tweaking drug addicts and tent encampments the likes the UK has NEVER seen. It's incredibly expensive to rent if you want to live anywhere remotely interesting. The infrastructure is so bad, unless you have a vehicle or lots of money to keep flying, you will feel incredibly isolated here. Brits are lucky to have such a great network of public transport and close proximity to Europe and all the cheap flights to get you around there. The work life balance is not as good as the UK. Most jobs here will start you on 2 weeks a year and only increase as your service grows. So after 5 years of service you will get 3 weeks and so on. Don't expect 5 weeks vacation until you have put 20 years in with most jobs. Canada is boring, it really is and so are most Canadians who also seem to have no idea what a sense of humour is. I have found new immigrants to be the friendliest, especially those from China, India, Vietnam and the Philippines. Now to the wokeness of the place, oh gosh, it's so bad. The Alberta premier has just announced very sensible and much needed gender reforms which 95% of Canadians agree with. These reforms will protect young gay kids mostly. The left have completely lost their mind over this. Women here are in genuine fear of speaking out regarding their privacy and rights to single sex spaces and sports. In the UK , this is slowly improving I believe. I'm putting things in place so I can leave. I hope things improve once the liberal government are gone but it will take many years to get this country back on track.

Re Indian students as a former teacher I have to also say that many Indian students coning here are lacking the basics. I also found that students educated in US states like Florida and Texas were around two grades behind. Many Indian studenrs here have high expectations but poor background and inadequate English language skills. It is a shame that people are getting into Canada with false documentation and credentials. Also they are enrolling in very dubious schools and it is no surprise that they find life here very difficult. Hopefully the Canadian government will take greater care to see that only suitable candidates are allowed to come to Canada as students. Also students from other countries should avoid coming here if they don't really have sufficient skills and should make sure that they are choosing reputable educational institutions. There are lots of private institutions with fancy names. Don't be fooled.

I worked in the mines of Northern Ontario have had two wives and six children payed high child support and spousal support. But just before I was ready to retire I had no more responsibilities and I got to keep my pension. I brought a house twenty years ago in Newfoundland where I am from and put it in my Mother's name. I am now retired with a payed for home which I heat with a wood cook stove, electric base boards but never need them and have solar panels and wind turbines but I am still hooked up to the grid but my bill is 40 dollars.I don't have internet or Netflix only a cell phone with a 100 gigabytes download.I run my tv off solar power that charges golf cart batteries also have a generator to charge the battery bank .I download off of YouTube and other places to a 1 terabyte hard drive that run thru my laptop and have that backuped . I have a ham radio. 250 gallon water tank just in case the village I live in the water goes out. I have a water flush toilet and a compost toilet. My property has apple trees and very productive raised beds to grow food, I also fish and hunt small game but I buy beef and pork that is free range and grass fed from a local butcher. There are many ATV trails around here, we have a gas station and small grocery store which I try to buy as much as possible from to support local employment. I have a side by side ATV with a nice back box , insurance and gas cost nothing. I used to have a truck but got rid of it because I didn't need it to get around plus I enjoy the ride in the side by side. The only draw back is to many people drink and drive around here and young people on drugs who steal.. I have pension and benefits and traveled for five years before I came back here. I get restless for excitement but remember it's a time to be quiet. Don't crave others company and I am pretty healthy, the only stress I have is to figure out what I am going to do that day. Yes I have to work to get wood and grow food but I could sit on my ass all day if I felt like it but you got to keep yourself in shape. I watch a lot documentaries and read e books but have my favorite books in paper. It does get boring but boring is good and you must be happy with what you got and no I don't need a partner remember I was married twice and everything was about what they wanted and not me.. I have gotten used to not answering to anyone or having to meet their needs and wants.. yes I am happy and don't have to struggle

let's be honest as an international student I am in awe of how some internationals can study in Canada when they can't even speak English properly .. when I came here I needed to pass IELTS and get a band 7 for everything all my documents and transcripts were directly sent from the official email of my institution. I need to pass an exam before enrolling for my course, I have criminal, abuse registry, and child registry checks in my country and even when I am in Canada. Did all the immunizations needed and abide by their law i need to submit all these documents every 6 months access. to the policy of the program I am doing. And as an international remember you are coming to Canada they have their own culture so you need to respect and adjust to it, not Canada adjusting to you... even though Canada is diverse they have its own rules so yes adapt to the place where you are. And to them blaming the agency you the people who are using them knew exactly what they were getting into now you are complaining I did all my applications through DIY as IRCC is a direct applicant why need agents for application. Ircc should also question why a person needs an agent to process their applications. If they can't understand basic instruction and basic legal matters would you think those students will be able to survive the education system here in Canada? let's be real a lot of students are taking short-term courses, short like 8 months, and yes to get PR (I wouldn't lie cause that would be hypocrisy all international students have that aim, and if you say no just stay in your country). I agrre with you, you are a very young man so good that you did take the right steps to move out as it was too oppressive depreesing to be in Canada, i have heard there is more places which are better countries like Morocco, Spain, Dubai, Thailand, Mexico is good also, and rest of Europe is nearly the same rabbit hole as Canada very high insane living costs, insane taxes, insane energy bills, it is like working like relentless for rent and living costs and still not enough, it is a big scam, a deception, which lots of people are not maybe aware of ? I am not Muslim but Canada is still a great country. A Muslim country will be a huge change and it does depend on the country. I lived in Morocco for 2 years and you are judged by your money. Really snobby people. They hate the poor and there are lots of poor people. Cost of Living has also increased. Lovely climate. No job opportunities for young people. I worked in Dubai for 6 months. All bling and only the 20 % have any proper say. Spent a holiday in Oman. Woman still kept back. Also might get caught up in Middle East conflict. Countries like Kuwait/Saudi etc very strict after freedom of Canada. Albania probably would not be strict enough for you. 60% percent Muslim. Had a holiday there about 10 yrs ago. Beautiful in summer and I believe still reasonable. Will be interested to see where you pick. I live in Ireland cost of living madly expensive!! I have cousins in Montreal. Have spent many vacations there. Why not try Vancouver for better weather? I just love Canada but all my immediate family are here. Canada is built on false promises to lure in immigrants to have them work for cheaper while ignoring it's own citizens. Treadeu doesn't care about his job and only uses it now to take tax payers money and fund his lavish lifestyle he's a rich egotistical douche that will only ever operate in his best interest and will lie and say what he has to for people to believe him he doesn't care about Canada or it's people only about keeping himself wealthy off tax payers dollars. If there was more of an effort on infrastructure and technology Canada could have been similarly valued to the states but treadeu ruined all major relationships and is a laughing stock globally it's very clear no world leader even respects the guy and hurts canadas trading potential massively along with how we're viewed. Canada tried way to hard to be it's own thing and different which also helped shoot the country in the foot. The government is extremely corrupt outright denys separate parties from speaking, underhanded tactics to win elections, control over media. Canada is a first world country but a declining one at that and if something doesn't change it will easily become an impoverished country where we will only be used to have our resourced sucked dry and sold to other countries to profit off while the elite remain powerful in Canada. Canada is seriously wasted potential. Canada should have high speed rails that connect the major cities but doesn't, we don't have actually good energy infrastructure due to projects being abandoned under trudeau that would bring a lot of money back. I understand and agree with you. Everything here is expensive with high taxes that go up just about every year. Europe is much cheaper and there are many countries that are a lot safer. I understand how you feel as Muslims and I have nothing against other religions. You don’t have your calls to and I as a Christian I don’t have the church bells which happen to also be a call to prayer. If I was not 70 years old I would leave. I am not Canadian but I am a citizen, my husband, however, is Canadian, so we stay because leaving would be extremely difficult. You are correct about the government and the ‘woke’ ideology in schools and everywhere we turn it seems which we also do not agree with. I came to Canada 4 years ago as an International Student and now have been working for 2 years. We as international student spent almost all our fortune to study in Canada and work for Canadian companies after graduation. A lot of my engineering majors are also working for government project to build more houses. Therefore, if people are working together on this, Canada could even thrive more given we are the second largest country in the world.

Honestly Toronto is still a lot better than Vancouver because honestly even in a good neighborhood you are scared to walk down the street and even go for a walk because you don't know if the person walking past you is going to pull out a knife like it's that scary here. We have a lot of Alberta, Ontario and Quebec's homeless population here and that means we have a lot of Alberta Quebec and Ontario's mentally ill population. So many of the homeless I speak to have moved here for the warmer weather even though it's frigid as heck today but that's why they moved here just for a warmer place to be homeless. We are also a port city and have a wicked problem with drug addiction.

I lived in Toronto for almost 25 years but moved to Berlin, Germany, a few months ago. I found the last few years to be really sad and also scary. There is such a huge mental health crisis. The TTC is not very safe feeling. I have friends there who travel with dog or bear spray in their purses. The cost of rent is definitely a huge issue. A lot of friends can never move into a new place and I don't know anyone there who can afford to actually buy a home.\nThe positives are the food options (groceries and restaurants - some of the best in the world), the nice social life, so many things to see and do around the city, and the various beaches and islands.\nThe city is definitely looking uglier and uglier, though, with all of these boxy, glassy condo towers and now with Ford doing things like turning public space into a foreign-owned inaccessible spa.

The sad truth for your reputation, is that there are more people STAYING than leaving, otherwise, our population would only increase by the number of births, minus the number of deaths every year. It is NOT. It is increasing by a LOT more. And those are EASY to find stats.\n IF you took your time to get out of your pity party and realized that you are WRONG about that fact, you might ALSO understand that choosing WHERE you live n this country is a pretty important choice. Unless you are REALLY rich, Toronto or Vancouver would be a miserable experience for anyone. If you limit yourself to the most expensive places we have to offer, you only have YOURSELF to blame for your failures here, AND you weren't going to contribute where we NEED immigrants, but where we already have too many, causing that RARITY, making prices go up. \n Have a nice flight out. But know that it could have been different if you'd taken the time it took to make that video, to INFORM yourself about the choices that might have been better for you instead.

Interesting! Making an announcement that you're leaving a country and going to another country before you decided which country you want to go, looks a bit impetuous. Also leaving Canada and going to another Muslim country where literally 99.9% people are trying to go the opposite way makes me think this announcement is premature. \nAlso, I know lot of people that made an attempt to go to India from US/Canada for reasons of not wanting to raise the children in Western Culture. Among them about 90% came back to the West in less than two years. In my estimate it's even more difficult in the Islamic countries except Turkey and Dubai (which one may question if are even Islamic). \nAnyway, if you succeed and were actually able to settle, you're in the tiniest percentage of the people who were able do that; not a small feat! This is pretty funny. I'm Canadian and my best friend is an economist working for the government on demographic issues full time. Just has an FYI canada has seen its highest immigration rate in the past 50 years last year. I can also see and feel all the immigrants moving in the job market. I'm not so sure why those videos keep being produced. This country is not perfect but it's better than many other places in the world. For example, canada is barely affected by climate change because we already have resilient infrastructure. When it comes to housing it's not so much that the governement does not allow for more building than the fact that it's hard to build affordable homes because the homes in canada require a lot of work due to the nature of the climate. (Has a trained carpenter and GC I know.) It's also very far from all of the world's chaos. All those emerging wars will affect Europe directly but all we get are some small economic backlashes. Anyhow, I've been living here for my whole 31 years of life and I've enjoyed the place and its peace. What I dislike is the cold and the lack of sun. Some times i watch videos on differents experiences others migrants experiencing here Canada and we re on same boat. That s why i also made choice to move out in Colombia on the beach for my retirement.Then im here giving some advise. As immigrant myself, African from Gabon, we experiencing same realities of the West since 10 years now. At some point, i can say there s something broken in this country since last 6-8 years. As you making decision to leave Canada on the reasons you expressed, it is very important for you not be wrong chosing the wrong place again. You need to think about it seriously. Straight, can tell you 100% United states is worse than Canada as Muslim family to live in. You need to read all suggestions given in this Video. You need to go to a Muslim country. Canada is supposedly a Christian country but Christians are coming under a lot of restrictions with practicing their faith. Christians are also bashed for many of the same beliefs as you.

There are lots of Muslim countries to choose from. Choose one of them. It's unlikely that you will find decent healthcare. Freedom of speech or welfare help during a bad patch. You may also have to pay for your children education. But there wil be lots mosques. You will hear the call to prayer. Just remind me how many Christain Churches are there in muslim countries. The UK has long cold wet winters. You would hate it here.

We came to Canada in seventies, and it takes at least 5 to 8 years to settle here. These days, people are doing well in India. There is no need to move here. Canada has also changed a lot. I know people who came to Canada returned to india after 5 months. Not once twice. They came back and are well settled. I will say if people are doing good in India and have a big circle of family and friends in India. Then they won't be happy here. Finding a good job takes years in some case. It's your luck too if you find a decent job then you will be ok. The worst thing here is long winter. You get tired of cold and snow. Now the cost of living is very high, renting or buying a house is very expensive. In the end, most people make it.

Seems Islam is too cerimonialistic/ritualist and require a lot of structure for praticing. Clean, specific places? Headspeakers for scheduled daily prayers? \nI'm glad the Creator I believe is omniscient and I can pray to Him anywhere, anytime, at worst requiring me a quiet place and to close my eyes. If I am not an oldie, I would leave canada as well. This country is not what it is used to be. Also, I think the opportunity is very limited here as jobs wise or for invested in business wise. This country is only good for oldies with money to move in . Cause at least the air is fresh, the living pace is slow, so you can walk a lot slower. As for young one, the opportunity is very limited. If I had won a big lotto , I probably would leave right away even at my age.

This is actually a cop out for an answer. it is the responsibility of neighbouring states to take in refugees during times of crisis. Even far poorer nations such as Kenya have hosted refugees from neighbouring countries such as Somalia. If anything this answer just highlights both Saudi and wider Arab hypocrisy when dealing with refugee crises in their backyards. Also yes I totally understand why this question was asked as often a lot of European states have taken in refugees from middle eastern countries whilst the neighbouring gulf states have taken none.
