I'm a dual citizen, the US has gone down the drain since I left in 1980. I don't even have a desire to visit. The country is divided not only racially but divided between Rep/Dem's. Why would anyone want to live there? Please provide an example of why anyone would want to live there.

the difference is a constitution vs nothing. we have nothing keeping our government in check so smart people hide or leave. the day canadians get a spine is the day the government and the world will respect and stop draining its resources.

A lot more (and overall a lot of) Canadians move to the U.S. than vice versa because there is much more opportunity to make money. Has anyone heard of the brain drain?

There is no economy for accepting more asylum seekers. The system is already drained with Ukraine,Afghan, and other refugees. Trudeau government needs to rethink their strategy to why this helps us. \nInterest rates and inflation are to help offset the war in Ukraine. That needs to be compared to another Afghanistan. Most likely, we will be in it for the long haul and pull out if it never ends. Our country will pay the price drastically.

The brain drain part is real, I’m planning on moving out of the country next year cause of C-11 affecting my business

BUT the health care expenses are draining us financially here in the US. But we are able to get care for which there is a sometimes a death sentence waiting list for in Canada.

Tyler, thanks for your entertaining and fun videos. My grandfather is a dual citizen but has never renewed his passport or anything and when asked to do so, he outright refuses. He says he hated living there. We live in the Vancouver area of Canada right now. My wife is finishing her registered nursing degree and we are considering moving to washington state, within an hour or so of the Canadian border on temporary work visas (TN1) for a few years. The main reason is the cost of living differences, mostly in housing but a lot of things are cheaper down there too. For example though, the costs of rent or to buy a house in the Vancouver area is insane - 1.5 million is generally a starting point. The cost of a detached house south of the border between Bellingham and Blaine starts around $400,000 ($500,000 CDN). If renting, it's crazy cheaper than here. \n\nThe area we are considering going to is very close to the canadian border, I've never heard of major violence problems in the area. Like one of the other comments you read, we're basically considering moving there to take advantage of a lower cost of living and higher salaries for a bit to try to get ahead. Living in the Vancouver area is such an absolute DRAIN on our finances that it is intolerable. If we didn't move to the US, we'd have to find another place in Canada to go to, but we do like the climate on the coast here. I'd actually just keep commuting to Canada daily to work in Canada since it's so close to the border, and writing the bar exam to be able to practice law in any US state except California, Massachusets, or New York is a pain in the backside to even be able to write it, let alone prepare for it. Just easier for me to keep working here unless we decided to try to make a permanent move somewhere further from the border.\n\nIf we decided to change our minds and apply to stay in the US in the future, there are a lot of the other considerations that other people have raised on top of my own ability to continue as a lawyer. Gun violence in the US is crazy, extreme polarized political views and increasing intolerance against diversity of race, culture, religion, (and while it doesnt affect us directly, it bothers us how LGBTQ people are increasingly targeted with backwards policies and by certain segments of the public), the health care system in canada has it's problems but it's also got it's strong points. We'll never go bankrupt because of a health care issue since we can move back to Canada IF it's ever a problem. Thankfully we are all pretty healthy so it shouldn't be much of a problem for a while at least. And we wouldn't even move there at all if her employment as a nurse doesn't offer health care and better pay than she can obtain here. \n\nOur kids will probably attend post-secondary (college/university) in Canada as dual citizens unless they get a scholarship to a top US school. The costs of post-secondary in Canada appears to be much cheaper than in the US and we have some good colleges/universities that consistently rank high globally.

They need to call in the National Guard and use brute force to keep them back if they have to. I honestly don’t understand how people think it’s ok to do this. Go the legal route. Yes it’s expensive and may take time but then you will have made it here legally. We can’t be expected to keep allowing illegal immigrants in. We can’t afford it. They are a drain on our economy.

North American Leaders Summit. Where's Mexico?\nThe animation showing people from the Prairies leaving for the USA during the Brain Drain section? That's not a coincidence, btw.

The part about the banking system is at best a half truth. Canada looked like it came through the 2008 crisis better than the States because the government did not allow a correction in the housing market. Rather, the Canadian government kept the party going with free money, which made the balance sheets of the banks look good, but over time caused housing prices to inflate far faster than household income. The result now is wildly over-inflated housing prices which - coupled with increasing immigration of well to do foreigners pricing Canadians out of the market - has come to the point that many Canadians born in Canada can no longer afford to live there. This in turn exacerbates the brain drain to the USA, which further reduces Canada’s innovativeness and international competitiveness. \n\nHowever, the universe mandates equilibrium, and this house of cards will come down sooner or later. When it does, Canada will be facing a far worse financial and economic crisis than the USA did in the late 00’s, as all of the Big 5 banks will become insolvent.

It allocates a lot of R&D dollars but it goes to zombie companies (i.e. money drains)

Canada house price boom recently by unscrupulously draining HK people to leave HK and bring their money to Canada !
2023-06-01 0
These people do not have red, white and blue running through their veins. They just want to drain the US dry and trash it to the ground. Why can’t these people use this force to demand and fix their homeland. Why? Because they know Americans can be lied to and be taken for wimps!!! But, some people need this to produce votes! What a harvest!
2023-05-30 0
Brain drain has become a major problem for Canada. We need to find ways to keep the people here and innovate to make Canada competitive again.
2023-05-28 0
No one invited you here!!! Go drain someone else economy
2023-05-25 0
This country is F----- up draining our resources with this bull ??? America is finished.
2023-05-25 0
NO other country tolerates this sh*t.. and when America goes under then these immigrants will degrade America and leave once they've drained AMERICAN resources... GREAT JOB U.S. GOVERNMENT, SUPERB.

These people are going to drain the American people. Generosity is good but this is insanity.

This is what happened when we (the USA) fucks up other countries, drains their recourses and in debts them to us. We need to clean up our messes and restore these peoples homes. I wish all of them the best, so much respect for those who will do anything to better the lives of those they love ❤️
2023-05-14 0
Okay, the United States is supposed to be a super power, but here we are, we can’t even stop this at our borders. Left wide open. Meanwhile, the homeless struggle and sleep in the streets. Let’s just drain our resources some more ?
2023-05-14 0
To many people in USA already .USA will be a 3 world country in 20 years. All those people will drain country resources and go back home poor blacks, White's will have to rebuild America
2023-05-14 0
Close the USA Border. Protect American Sovereignty or we will not have a country - Education, Hospital, & Social Services, drained for illegal entries while Americans, including children, suffer.
2023-05-12 0
They want free medical, housing, food and money which drains the resources that were put in place for American citizens who may need it temporarily. Our tax dollars should not be used on these ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! WE HAVE HOMELESS VETERANS AND AMERICAN CITIZENS who need those resources.
2023-05-11 0
Please let us to drain your resources! This has to stop, personally I think they should be treated as invaders when they are trying to force their way into our country. And before I see any snowflake tears coming my way, I’m Hispanic ?

Canada is well on its way to going back into the 2nd world. This country is doomed. What a waste of education. Spent 40k on a degree to be stuck in my mid 20s trying to leave this hellhole of grinding 60+ hours a week to spend everything on rent and food. Brain drain really hit me hard.

Some good points were touched on. We need solutions! What does this mean?\n\n- We need some immigration discipline. Yes, it's great to let immigration in, especially ones that pay taxes, but it's overburdening both the rental/housing demand (which needs opposing pressure to lower prices) as well as healthcare demand, which is not being properly addressed. Instead our healthcare system is flooded. And it's inefficient and expensive as is already. We just need to tame the number of people we allow in, and grow our ability to self-sustain first.\n- It's too late now, but government policies to give out money during COVID was poorly executed, yet plentiful. When 40% of currency was printed in the last year/two, no doubt we will have inflation. This was never touched upon in the video. Resources/social supports should have been provided rather than just straight up $$$. There was an excess of money given to places they shouldn't have been. We saw a boom in industries like say hobbies and games, showing additional money being wasted where it should have been used for food and shelter. \n- Canadian government is not trying to be as aggressive to retain Canadian companies. We are heavily dependent on US corporations and hence the brain drain as well. Salaries do not compare, especially when remote work is now possible. \n\nWe are already deep in the hole and need to be more financially responsible. I'd strongly disagree with the last statement in this video that we are perceived as corrupt (there's been lots of civil unrest because of government misspending). We are civil and polite, but that's not what helps economies grow, as OCED forecasts as well.

We can’t find housing cause a estimated 50,000 people A WEEK MAKE IT OVER THE SOUTHERN BORDER ! That’s the ones that actually get threw … take some basic math folks - \n\n50,000 a week x 52 weeks = 2.6 MILLION people a year coming across … okay so what ? \n\nPhoenix Arizona couple years ago was the 6th largest city In the USA WITH 1.65 million population … DO THE MATH… JUST SAY FOR A EXAMPLE THEY ALL STAY IN PHOENIX. PHOENIX WOULF WOULD TRIPLE ALMOST IN SIZE EVEDY YEAR … \n\nWe can’t afford housing now ! Why? There isn’t enough houses or apartments available so supply and demand. Demand skyrockets and so does price - what do you think happens when we triple our population in a year ? Rent WILL BE MORE THEN NEW YORK… and that doesn’t even touch the traffic as our roads and freeways weren’t built to sustain 4 million people, AND THE WORST OF ALL… our water … we’re all ready having to do severe cut backs cause we’re draining the Colorado river and lake mead and lake Powell … we would kill our natural resources within years …\n\nAnd sorry to say but that many immigrants that fast - in one year . Mexicans would be the dominant population no question by double … they don’t have insurance, speak English , there culture is drastically different … just look at what small amounts can do to certain areas … I know I don’t want my houses in my neighborhoods painted yellow, pink, and merrachi music blasting till 3 am from every neighbor - I say that cause it literally just happened to me as I had to sell my house cause several houses were bought up around me and swathes of them moved in and the entire neighborhood did a 180 real fast… and who do you think pays for every single one of them and there food cards , health insurance , there WIC baby money , there school, there housing .. YOU YOU YOU

Desirability causes imbalance and in turn a crisis. There is no such crisis in Russia yet a big brain drain there too so go figure. Sometimes 1+1 seems to equal 6.

My country is too blindly focused on primary industries, and those interested in advanced economies are leaving (myself included). Brain drain, in one of the richest countries in the world? But yeah, keep coping with your real estate market you fucking hacks

When they prioritize refugees over needy citizens; this is what happens. Brain drain, trust me most of my friends are about to leave this country despite making 100k/year. It's not like we are scared of taxes or anything but it's the government with misplaced priorities. For Canada refugees are on top of the food chain

The brain drain is real... My education was mostly paid for by the govt through scholarships and what not... but within five years of graduation I was being offered jobs south of the border that literally doubled my wage. Even if you don't like the U.S. its hard to turn down that kind of salary difference, especially early in your career before you have a family.\n\nAnother thing that was only partially touched on in the video is how many Canadian start ups get bought up by companies south of the border, usually at a discount. It amazes me how few incentives there are for successful innovators to get up and running that it takes such small amounts of VC money to buy big parts of their companies compared to their U.S. counterparts.

Didn’t even get into the stupid inter provincial fighting (vetoing pipelines, etc). The country has also suffered from a perpetual identity crisis and for too long prided its self on not being American while being an almost identical twin to its neighbour down south. \n\nThis unexceptional display of a weak identity and economic brain drain show why merging with the us is the answer long term. \n\n“It’ll never happen!” Mentality is a testament to the lack of creativity and big ideas needed to advance that’s cemented into people’s minds here. \n\nThe video highlighted that well.

When you live next door to country who can print trillions upon trillions of dollars to pump up its globally socialized economy... then said country exports their inflation into your central bank... it will drain the country dry.

breain drain is a huge side effect of the issues you spoke about
2023-04-25 0
Brain drain is real. Also Canada can't be innovative if they keep raising minimum wage and making the barrier to entry harder for new businesses.
2023-04-25 0
Some small criticisms.... Brain drain hasn't been a thing in Canada since you can't just cross the border and start working in the USA. Also, when you say that the majority of Canadians live within the American border, that does not include the Alaska border. the majority of us live close to the southern border.

The brain drain part really struck a cord with me. Canada spent tens of thousands of dollars subsidizing my education only for me to leave in my mid 20s to seek better opportunities in the US and get away from their housing crisis. I tried to stay in Canada but even the top companies had vastly lower pay compared to what I could find in the US relative to the cost of living. The biggest difference I've noticed living in Canada and the US is in Canada the smartest people I know are investing in unproductive real estate and in the US they are hustling to start/grow STEM startups. In my view, the worsening housing crisis in Canada will only exacerbate some of these stats in the coming years.

Canada as a whole is not that corrupt..... Its government on the other hand had become incredibly corrupt. PM Blackface openly takes bribes and the family connections are the chief path to powerful appointments. Brain Drain is just a work for anyone with half a brain realizing Canada is over-leveraged and overtaxed with little freedom beyond the government funded media stories that try to convince you all is well.

Meh, vanilla analysis that circles around important points but fails to make inightful critiques:\n\nA. “Canadian productivity lags . . . the economy is less productive and innovate than America’s . . . less competitive . . . less capital . . .”, and then finally “banks are prudent, well regulated, and untroubled by excessive competition”!!! Yep, just put it together: Canadian banks (and government policies) have comfortably sedated the economy and populace.\n\nB. 00:09:00 “The fact is, Canada’s dependence on natural resources for economic growth has discouraged investment in other sectors”. Total rubbish! Canada discourages investment generally. Success in natural resources - despite government policy and cultural biases AGAINST them - does not hinder economic development elsewhere. The banks, governments, and degenerate academics in Canada do such a good job screwing everything over that the ambitious leave, thus, as the video observed, the “brain drain” south. You know what’s ONLY thing that cannot leave Canada for the USA? Natural resources!! That’s why natural resource companies endure in Canada, because they have no choice.

Ya..except Canada is by far the most educated population with R/D , AI, Robotics, optics, aerospace.. also taxation comparison is misleading as the USA actually pays higher taxes. Brain drain is not a thing anymore, in fact our primary imports are foreign working age students ready to make babies ?. Canada has the largest immigration. Canada will be a superpower in 80 years.

The brain drain is astonishing. Sad
2023-04-03 0
Meanwhile in Canada, Toronto has become a tent city while refugees are housed in hotels and then public housing. \nI have always been a supporter of immigration and refugee asylum but it's becoming obvious even to people like me that we can no longer afford to bring in more people who sadly will continue to just drain our system until it collapses. \nThe average person is barely keeping their head above water with rent and food prices. There comes a point when you have to acknowledge that your cup is empty and there is nothing left to give.

I like how much the Mexican Government lies to their own people about how such a promise land America is our economy is going down to the f****** drains they're having runs on banks we keep bailing out huge f****** too-big-to-fail businesses and Banks we have no money we have no space for people and on top of all that the US government could care less about individuals and it doesn't matter who they are
2023-04-03 0
The biggest problem with this, it vetting. Why? Anyone that comes to a another country and does not follow the process of security, should do their best to get vetted. If no vetting, we will be letting people into the country that drains the country of monies for it's own people, allows criminal minds into the country and worse, someone that just want to comes to a country because it has Welfare.

The democrats are deplorable for doing this. These people will be a drain on our resources as well as we don't know ANYTHING about them. Biden cares more about the votes he's going to get from these people than the people that were born here!!!

This is despicable. Thanks Mr Presidentfor creating another crisis for us the citizens of this country. Despicable bastards in both sides. Mexico amd the progressive left. Makes me sick. It’s simple Math. We cannot take anymore of these economic drains on our country. Amd that’s all these people are. That’s not asylum. Zoom in on the smiles. F.. criminals. Like it’s funny?
2023-04-01 0
Disgusting!! Globalization and brain drain at its finest. These people have no right to be demanding entry. The US and Canada need to start setting a better example, it’s blowing up in their faces and us tax paying citizens are paying the price!

CANADA IS AT FAULT FOR HOW THEIR COUNTRY IS DOWN THE DRAIN NOT JUST FOR THIS BUT FOR NOT DOING THEIR JOBS AT ALL. GROSS
2023-03-30 0
Not like the money they earn stays here. Our country is on the brink of disaster with our geriatric president and staff. Our enemies are forming further alliances. Chinese are buying our country as fast as they can gobble it up. Americans cant even afford our way of life. This will drain our economy even further. These people should go home and build their own country because the American dream is quickly deteriorating.
2023-03-09 0
and people back home in our countries of origin (us immigrants) they think once they land in a western country they'll be employed right there and then ??\n\nEdit: I'm originally from your neighbouring Zambia and flying from Lusaka to Sydney drained my soul this country is very far and the air tickets are high AF ??? another thing that shook me when I moved here is how expensive it is to fly within Australia I mean a flight from Sydney to perth can be up to AU$750 whereas in the US flying the same distance costs like AU$350
