Do people know that even when you are employed there are some professional documents that expire and you have to retake some courses after 2 years, some 1 year, 3 years etc. A series of them, and that is money. Your employer needs to see that your car insurance isnt expired, driving licence also. & you are super skilled by the way it isn't that you are looking for a job, you are working already. Most of the issues mentioned in the video are common in cities the size of Toronto elsewhere in the western world; I have family/friends all over and they have similar gripes about cities like London, Berlin and NYC. The precipitous decline in the last few years is indeed due to the fall out from COVID, both economy-wise and mental health-wise, and most countries in the world are still recovering from it. It's tough everywhere you look, but I do hope it's a temporary situation that will blow over sooner rather than later. Having said that, one thing that's probably worse in Toronto (and Vancouver) than most cities their size (I know that Toronto is much bigger, but Vancouver is a big city in its own right) is the housing situation, which had already been a problem before COVID in those two cities and it has only gotten worse since so it's now a real crisis that needs the municipal, provincial and federal governments to work together to address ASAP.

Canada is NOT a good place to live, I've been here four years and I am still struggling, jobs are not very good, not well paid, and the only thing you can at is retail or coffee shops. \nMost people here are over educated and compete for the few good jobs there are. Healthcare is a disaster. I thought it was just me, but I already know at least nine people in my situation.

I hate this so much. I know it’s not these peoples fault that their countries aren’t helping them but America isn’t even helping its own people. Imagine how it feels to be from the US struggling and then these people come and somehow our country has the means to help them when they won’t not can’t won’t help their own. What other country do you know of where you can just decide to cross their boarder demand help and say you know what I’m just going to live here illegally now. I'm gonna propose something not so crazy because Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the US all do different parts of these already - that any country that's majority English speaking/common law based legal system can opt in to standardize credentials for high school, university, and trade schools. Each country publishes an annual skills shortage list and any citizen of those countries with the right credentials can apply for a work permit (so you can be properly vetted) that becomes valid with a job offer. The US & Canada already do this for select occupations through NAFTA and Aussies can already effectively move to the US under the E-3 visa program. I'm American but went to university in Australia. It's really silly that we don't already do this. I also live in Florida now and work with people from Trinidad, Jamaica, Bahamas, etc. and it's such an unnecessarily burdensome process to hire a professional who you know already has the credentials and work experience.

Americans are in the crapper. Many of us live on the streets. We need to be more like Japan as to border policy, and treat us first. I don’t know why it’s a big deal, many other countries have the same border policy. America isn’t inconsiderate for having them, it’s just the government already doesn’t help us live. I am autistic, and the fact that autistic peoples are treated as inferiors in the US and not well help, oh hell NO. Even if in Canada this is not perfect, at least I was able to be respected by the most of them and not treated as a joke. Lack of affordable housing -- lack of housing in general -- is the main reason people already living here are being priced out and why so many refugees and immigrants cannot afford the cost when they move here. When these people come to Canada for a better life and/or to escape the suffering that they were living in, they cannot bring their homes with them. It is the government's responsibility at all levels to ensure that these newcomers have a place to go when they come here. A homeless shelter should not be the answer. Buy up office spaces and convert them (if safe to do so with whatever codes need to be met) into affordable housing units. For years we've been seeing hundreds of news articles about vacancies in office buildings being at all time highs, yet only a handful of them are being converted. 500,000 people a year entering a country where there isn't enough housing for them (let alone the people living here already) is irresponsible on the government's part. If this is your pledge, at least give these people a better life and not send them to shelters or onto the streets as soon as they arrive. If Canada is to truly be a safe haven for immigrants and refugees escaping their hardships, it's paramount that the government does what it can to make these people actually feel like their life will change for the better. I'm all for immigration since it helps the economy and knowing that Canada can put people in a better position for themselves and their families, but it's the lack of preparation from the governments that makes me question their pledge in this way.

We do not owe them a debt. They (or any other migrant) are not entitled to become US citizens solely bc their home country is in turmoil. Sympathy can only go so far but when you try to invade our country all sympathy is lost. Venezuela is an extreme socialist problem. They control all prices and hijack the concept of healthy business functions. This causes essential goods like water, food, and toilet paper, even fruits, are totally barren from stores. Socialism there is a nightmare and no one is living life their with decency. Read about it before you judge these people. Try to visit these countries or learn from someone who came from there before you form a solid opinion of politics folks They don’t have the ability to use much of their “freedom” to “fix” things against a rigged system already (some commenters say they need to go back and fix their countries- lots of issues with this). Read up on how South American governments make it almost impossible for their own people to make decent money. Americans are very privileged and that is an understatement. The problem is with these terrible governments and even law enforcement who often get bribed by criminals and many dirty cops in some countries down there. My husband is from South America, and we know Cubans, Brazilians, and Venezuelans who beg America to stay capitalist. Part of me feels bad for them because of all the stories of how bad it is south of the border but the other more realistic part of me knows that a large influx of immigrants like this would be catastrophic to the local housing markets wherever they end up.
