As much as I'd like to blame it all on the Trudeau government, many of Canada's problems are systemic. Also at least some of the housing cost issues can be blamed on the previous Conservative government, who did everything they could to kick the can down the road and keep the house price gasbag inflating. We should have had a proper correction after the 2007/8 global financial crisis, but we didn't. However the Liberal government has done nothing in the last 9 years to improve things, and in fact the record high immigration levels have undoubtedly contributed to housing demand.

I clicked on this expecting some right-wing Trudeau-bashing, and I was pleased to see it’s actually a fairly objective, non-partisan discussion. \n\nOne thing it doesn’t mention, though, is that conservative provincial governments in Canada are sitting on $70 billion in health care funding supplied by the federal government. They are deliberately allowing their health care systems to deteriorate. They have done the same with federal housing funding, to the point where the federal government is now making deals directly with cities to supply new housing. \n\nAnd, those rising housing prices, for better or worse, have made a lot of Canadian homeowners and landlords very wealthy. THEY certainly don’t want to see housing get more affordable.

Indian government customer services across the board are mostly impolite and unprofessional and government workers treat customers especially other Indians with distain, like how dare you ask me or why this has not been done. I'm in NB and Higgs our premier has done nothing for the people in years and has a surplus of over a billion year after year. I had dealings with the Indian consulate office in New York from 1990 to 2012. The staff back then was really bad. Government workers didn't speak nicely to people and acted as if they were better than everyone else. There are law firms that can get your tasks done quickly because these Indian lawyers know the consulate staff. They give them gifts, and the work gets done without you having to go to the consulate.

I was born and raised here. I am doing my exit plan as I cannot afford to live here as young-adult living on my own. How can you provide billions for foreign aid but can't provide basic necessities to your own citizens? Done because they can blame the provincial governments and make people ignore that they changed visas to mexico, changed the refugee claimant laws, and increased exponentially the number of people entering and then waiting for a hearing on the asylum claim. As a landlord, here's the difference between international students and migrants: One has money and pays me rent monthly on time, while the other one sleeps in the park, or somewhere else, PAID by the government. The answer is yes. Those students know that it is a ticket to stay. A foot in the door. They are a strain on government services, housing, food banks and most come here without proper resources that is one of the requirements for entry. Even if they pay more it shouldn't take spaces that Canadian should be entitled to. They take jobs that belong to Canadians, housings that belong to Canadians. In london ontario close to 12 thousand international students take up the affordable housing for people of london. This causes so much distress on the low income people try to find a place .Then greed of developers and landlords causes the rents to go up so much that those on fixed incomes can't afford there rents and rent evictions happen as landlord look to cash in . let me set the record straight here. International students pay four to fivefold as much tuition as locals do, and injects billiions of dollars into the Canadian economy. They have long become a cash cow in the eyes of canadian institutions and nobody ever voices support for 'em not even once. How sick and ungrateful was that? At least international students has made siginificant economic contribution to the country. But what have those refugees done to the country except draining your resources? Also, the government should better assess the quolity of the private institutions (those number have increased): the number of hours and a list of disciplines they provide. And the assessment of the graduates should be done by the third party specialists. Because, the graduates sometime, have no glue about the subjects, like I met one student who pointed on the regular electrical outlet box saying that it is a network router.

In all the countries there is a simple rule: the government increase the purchasing power OR they increase the salaries. If nothing of the two get done, you're automatically doomed. No matter where you want to go, especially when you are western-shaped.

As someone who moved Canada 3.5 years ago, I agree with all the reasons mentioned. There are many things government could have done better to fight against the inflation, housing crisis, high cost of living and rise in crime and homelessness. I don't even want to mention about the taxes. Like I am almost giving half of my salary to the government yet they are still taking %13 more on what we spend on, yet I've never seen a single place where that money was used to address any of these problems. One of the reasons I moved to Canada was to have a better life style, more buying power and better future for my future kids. But at this point I feel like I am living in a zombie land. High skilled workers will have some other opportunities elsewhere but refugees and low skilled workers will be stuck in Canada and it will get only worse with the current policies.
