My immigration process took 14 years in total until I could get here, it was a blessing and I had a lot of gratitude to be here after living in a warzone. Ive lived in Winnipeg for 10 years, a part of me was always happy and okay to deal with the cold because at least nobody would be killing you or attempting to on a daily basis, with rockets and bombs. 10 years later, I was wondering that the only reason we came here was to escape war, and not find a better quality of life. Housing crisis, most can’t afford houses or even rent a nice apartment. Healthcare system is a complete dogshit mess, people here don’t recognize the importance of how much this industry needs to be supported by governments and citizens because EVERYONE benefits from it and stay alive longer. I don’t know man, I only see it collapsing going forward, especially when everyone is divided and the aboriginal issues are a constant trend.

I lived in the US for 4 years. I was 12 when I moved with my parents. I had a teacher who expelled me from school on my first day. I refused to do a pledge to their flag. The teacher went nuts. I said I was not pledging anything yo a flag of another country. The teacher then tried to tell me that I was lying and that Canada was a state, not a country, so I had been pledging my whole life. This was a teacher, and I did not know Canada was not part of the US. He called me a traitor and that I should be charged, then had me expelled. When I came back to Canada, I had to take an extra year of school because my grade 11 from the US was so far behind. The US school system was bizarre. The had clubs where people dressed like the military and marched around. They were taught to fire guns, and it was all part of school. They spend more time learning about their history and never learn about so much of it. It was like an oxymoron. The teacher did not know about the War of 1812, did not know that Washington was still trying to stay with in the British Crown even months before the end of their insurrection, and that Canada was a major contributor to the US moon race. It was a very confusing tome for me. Thing I had learned in elementary school, where just being taught in middle school, and other things were so far a head I did not follow like things about their Presidents. They could not spell, yet I got makered wrong for it and I found the teacher were either very nice or true demons, and they knew nothing but their own subject. I also felt like I was treated not as a student but as a criminal who had just not commented on a crime yet. Very strange.

As a tradesman I can tell you the majority of guys working in Toronto don't live there. I knows some crews that come from 2 to 3 hours away and stay in hotels Monday thru Thursday then head home for the weekend. These guys earn 6 figure incomes but with kids and other regular expenses they can't afford toronto living. As for the daily situation on the streets its a manifestation of terrible management. Fiscally toronto is broke. Yet city hall is enamored with wokism and virtue signaling while people die on the streets in random knife attacks, drug overdoses, gunfire and suicides. They look the other way and spend rheir time pandering to special interest groups and professional activists. So....after living here for 40 plus years my assessment is it's going to get worse much much worse. Arrogance and lack of guts to fix problems will lead toronto down a path similar to Baltimore, or Detroit. It'll take years but it's going that way.

Guess what? Every time we won the games, they promised to employ us. They will tell us to apply and write an essay to why you needed that job. I suffered for 4 years writing essays and applying. Little did I know, the secretary would hide my application in her drawer and bring in her family member. It happened I got a scholarship to play and go to school. I finished school, I work out of the country and never regret again. My point is, some of us left kenya because we were pushed to the edge, it is difficult to get a job and people are very mean in those offices. If you try to invest, you get conned too.

As a Nigerian, I’m telling you, FORGET about this Nigerian man talking in this video. Nigerians are currently in the emotional phase of being annoyed, unprovoked. It’s like a guilty pleasure. As a second generation Nigerian immigrant (parents were born in Nigeria and I was born in the US). I 100% agree w/ his perspective. I’ve spent consider amount of time in Nigeria w/ my side of the family that’s doing well and the other side that aren’t. Aboard should only be for people who have no opportunity back home as in they have tried everything and nothing worked for them. If you are doing well in Nigeria, try and give birth to your kids in the US so they can retrieve citizenship. There is no reason a successful person back home should sell their things and move aboard even for kids as you can send them aboard to receive an education and help them gain citizenship and from their they can file for you. The amount of systemic racism, odd jobs you will have to work (God forbid you don’t have a degree and you move aboard for non degree purposes that’s when aboard will show you pepper), cost of surviving is expense here especially now as inflation is high. It’s just not benefiting especially if you were better off in Nigeria. However, this shouldn’t stop you from coming just know that the road isn’t easy and some places are worse than others. I’ve never been to Canada but have been to the UK and by far would advice anyone from back home to avoid UK at all cost. Not even sure how Nigerians are even making it there lol (it’s a never ending cycle of poverty plus citizenship is very difficult to gain and the discrimination in my opinion is much worse than the US. UK society has a class system and it only really empowers British people. The UK is so bad that they even discriminate against Eastern Europeans that should let you know a lot.) Also why do you think most Brits Nigerians come back to Naija hoping to secure job compared to American Nigerians and let me tell you it’s not because the UK is close to Nigeria, there is a true lack of opportunity. There are more opportunity in the US and possibly Canada compared to the Europe.

I was born and raised here. I am one big bill away from being homeless.. This is not the Canada I know. We are punishing sick ppl for being sick. ...ppl on disability don't even get enough money to survive on let alone pay for all the extras and alot of ppl on disability didn't get the grocery rebate. So tell me how that is fair... families are homeless more and more added every month due to insane rent costs and shady landlord doing eviction to raise rents. The whole country is a hot mess.

Any trip outside the United States will tell you about how few people would want to move to the US if they could live in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, or Europe instead. Probably a whole lot of other places, too. The United States has too many of its citizens living in fear. That’s a culture whose very admirable democratic and social goals are subverted by worshipping aggression and religious extremism, the very things they say they were fighting against in the Middle East and Afghanistan. I know that many Americans feel that way about their country and their fellow citizens but feel powerless to change it and that the plutocracy (which is largely in day-to-day control) seems to block any progress towards a better way of living.

I would 100% go to the us for vacation even for a whole month, but it’s a big NO to move over the border. \n\nReasons why: \n\n1. Great video! US immigration system is soul crushing and very expensive. As a Korean Canadian (Scientist with a PhD) who immigrated to US in 2012, I was lucky to get my green card in 2020. Since then I sponsored my wife and my daughter but their immigration cases have been in limbo due to the pandemic and we are still waiting for their green cards. You made a great point about why many people wants to immigrate to US from Canada because of pay. It is true that same job in the US pays so much better but you forget to mention a few points that the higher pay in the US is not that much advantageous if you calculate the cost of other life expenses. Sure house is very expansive in Canada but it is expensive in the US too. I live in MA and the average price is so much expensive. Additionionally, important things in life are very expensive in the US compared to Canada such as Child care, children's education, health cares etc... Example: My friends from Quebec only pay 7$/day for daycare (~140$/month). My friends in Massassuchetts pays on average (2800$/month). My friends kids will pay around 2000$/year for university tuition if they go to an university in Quebec. My kid will have to pay around 10000$/year if she decides to go to in state university if not it could be more than 40000$/year. I know that health care system in Canada is not perfect but it is much cheaper. In US, it is so expansive. My daughter birth only costs us in Canada 100$. My friend kid birth in MA with a great health insurance cost more than 5000$. Without health insurance, it could go even higher. Now if you lose your job, you lose your health insurance so good luck if you become sick. Additionally, depending where you go in the US, they have a gun problem. Luckily for me, I live in MA where gun control is very strong. Anyway, this is just to tell you that higher pay isn't always better.
