Isn't it so interesting how a lot of North Americans are exiting the North and moving over to third world countries because of the high cost of retirement, which they couldn't afford in their own country. Did someone pay you to perpetuate the LIE that Healthcare in Canada comes out of people's taxes? That's certainly the impression that you have created. BE CLEAR. Each Province has its own universal healthcare which is funded - NOT BY TAXES - by a premium paid similar to regular insurance (except there isn't anyone skimming profits off the top). For example - the Ontario Heath Insurance Plan - OHIP. As a pensioner, my OHIP premium in 2014 was $98 per year. In the US I pay 12 x 167 = 2004 - over 20 times the amount AND I have to pay the first $4,000 of cost myself. Yes, you have to WAIT after moving to Canada before you get full coverage. As a Canadian, if I came back to Canada I would have to wait 6 months before my health insurance kicks in. BUT if this were not the case sick people from all over the planet would flock to Canada for free medicine. As for the Doctor shortage that is CREATED by the Canadian Medical Association limiting the positions available in Med schools. Nobody loses their house and goes bankrupt in Canada because a family member gets sick compared to about 700, 000 Americans per year who suffer that fate. AND no children die in Canada because their parents didn't have Healthcare. As for immediacy of service - it depends on how serious the medical problem is. Few, if any, people die in Canada because they were seriously ill and were told to go home and take Advil.

Cost me a $ million for hospital & med care. Guess if u pay taxes & never get sick then it must suck. In USA we have shootings every day & wkly mass shootings. phone bill is high because the land area is so huge that the unit cost to install cellphone tower is so high when compared to other countries which have higher population density. So much like Australia, you get low income, you are poor, and if you get high income you can pay over 50% in tax and so you still are poor. We have healthcare but in case of emergency you wait all day to see a doctor. If you are not sick waiting that long will make you sick.\nAlso it's a huge country, one would assume land would be cheap but average cost of property is about one million.

I live in a small city in the U.S. and rent and home prices are the same if not more expensive than vancouver from what I've seen. There's hardly any diversity in my city and it's a desert with no bodies of water. The air quality is horrible and no one can afford health-care. My last job covered half of my insurance and it still cost me $600 USD a month which hardly covered anything. Vancouver is my dream.

Don't forget, everything cost money , if you want to reach out to a counsellor or something, it cost you a lot, only people who knock on your door , are those who try to sell yous something or scam you..

As a Canadian now retired and living in Spain with my wife I will say I agree with some of your points but not all. I am so proud to be Canadian and will always be a Canadian. But we love it here and plan on living in Spain the rest of our lives. The biggest reason being taxes and cost of living for our leaving. Good points for the most part.

Canada is the greatest country in the world! It's a free country way more freer than USA and it's a very rich country way more richer than USA and has much more money than USA. There's more rights, money and opportunities in Canada than USA. They have every American thing as well as their own stuff. The people are very, very nice, friendly and sweet and will be your best friend and take care of you and look out for you. I'm canadian and I agree, everything is sooo expensive. I keep telling my family but since this is all they are used to, they dont see it. Just the telephone bills are insane. Well, I guess that most families from Asian counties live together and share space so they will be able to afford homes. I guess that we should educate Canadians that they should not expect to be able to afford rent or owning a home unless you stay with your family and all live together. See, problem solved. Change your expectations and way of life to accommodate a government that prefers to have expansion and growth at all costs instead of fixing our current problems. They have created so much debt and continue to so they need more bodies to tax in order to pay the debt so that they can take on more debt... and they want it from citizens because they can't get it from corporations and their record profits because the corporations bribe them... sorry, lobby them with 100s of millions of dollars.\n\nSo emigration is obviously the solution.
