I swear as someone with brown skin, the Best Buy thing happened to me literally every time I have walked into one. And I have been in several best buys in several cities.

I couldn't imagine getting paid the very least that a company can legally pay you, and then caring at all if someone steals from the business. They would pay you a dollar per hour if they could, why should you put in any more than the absolute minimum amount of effort not to fired?

As someone who under saw evictions in montreal for many years i can confirm that the tenants i usually had to deal with for not paying rent were of color, the residences most often left in a total mess, with destroyed property and infestation were more often than not those of colored people. property owners have little to no power once they've signed a contract, it makes sense that they're careful of who they allow to rent from them.

This was 4 years ago and things are still the same :) and not only shopping , building apartments AlSO JOBS OPPORTUNITIES!!! In cities when are more visible the minority , you simply won’t have the same opportunities as someone white without an accent !!! Sad , sad !

Mark was approached no less than 3 times in one visit. The last time I went to Best Buy I was looking for wireless headphones. Was approached within the first 5 minutes... I said that I was still looking... then nothing. My husband said that’s what they do... they don’t want to smother you. I had to track someone down when I finally had a question. So...?

This happened in the US but I was working at Panera and two really nice ladies wearing burkas came to order some food and the old white guy cashiering refuses to cash them out because of what they are wearing. \n\nThat's straight up discrimination, I hope they didn't know why he wouldn't served them because that's horrible and he should feel ashamed. Two years ago at shoppers drug Mart at Victoria Park and Danforth in Toronto about 7:30 in the evening. I was stopped leaving the store the one security guard grabbed my arm my car was in plain view in wheelchair parking my son was in the car. They insisted I go back into the store to be searched I did not comply. At that time I was 62 years old and wearing about $30,000 in jewellery.I am seven generations Canadian on the black side and three generations Canadian on the White. I have been followed countless times in liquor stores department stores etc. On three occasions I have been followed around wearing my casino manager government identification. I do believe we all do profiling however not on colour of skin, but on how someone is dressed and suspicious action's. Only with bringing attention to this matter will it improve.

in our retail store anyone whos spent 20 minutes in the store will get followed regardless of race, 20 minutes is the upper end of what most people spend in a non-clothes based retail store while legit shopping, after 30 minutes we dedicate someone to the camera to see what they are stealing, typically they are either stealing something in what they think is out of the cameras view, or scouting and they come back later.

I’ve had uncomfortable interactions in retail stores here in Australia, because I’m a young mum (well not anymore but I have been, I had one baby at 19,21,25 and 27). Purely because they perceived me as a skank and drain on the tax payer to them. I’ve had someone ask if I had a concession card (low income/singles) and when I said “no” they’ve said “really?” Or asked me again as though I didn’t hear them. I’ve had people ask if my children all had the same dad. I would hate to think of how that would be exacerbated if I was a person of colour. I never judge anyone on first impressions but a lot of people do. It’s really sad.

I wouldn't give money to someone wearing a niqab also. It might be a personal choice to wear it or not, but it also leans more to extremist in my views than not. wearing a hijab isn't that bad, but a niqab is usually found in extremist mentality.

I am from a European country and to apply for a 12 month work permit/visa in Canada I had to get and translate all kinds of travel documents and documents that prove my identity and that I haven't been prosecuted in my country and drive 16 hours just to get biometrics done. And now all of that is going to waste because the borders are closed for me.\nAnd these people can just show up at this border crossing NOW without documents and just like that enter Canada illegally and that's ok?
