I'm trying to find information on weather being black and wealthy in Canada: is it worse or better than American. I'm not really concerned about name calling. In America you can be in serious danger being wealthy and black because of the american perception of wealth, cops tend to harass you unless you involve yourself with the political backing of your town. Going to meaningless functions and black tie events and donations to mayor's and goveners. I'm tiered of paying for my freedom is Canada different when it comes to this?

I’m not saying this stuff doesn’t happen in real life because it absolutely does, but these scenarios and situations they are putting these people in are HIGHLY suspicious. They indigenous man was looking so suspicious in the store, just lingering around in areas of the store that he doesn’t belong in. What is he doing hanging out in the cosmetic isle and starring at diapers. Come on.

The lady was out shop lifting I'm sure. Get real she stole something..if she didn't then she leaves big deal

I'm white but am discriminated against for looking poor. Often I don't wear new fashionable clothes but second hand or vintage things. Store workers keep an eye on me and sneer a lot until I buy something -- then they brighten up and help me to buy more.

Fellow Canadian here! Love your videos!\n\nJust wanted to point out that we're not alwaaaays so cold ? we do experience four seasons, and our weather in the summer can get up to about 30-40°c, and in some parts winter can get - 40°c. It definitely varies from the East/South/North/West!\n\nWe also discontinued pennies a couple years ago, too ? could be more but I'm not sure.

My aunt is Lebanese and obviously her sons and daughters are too. My aunt looks white and get 0. But my cousin looks more Lebanese and he gets racism all day everyday in California. I absolutely hate it. I'm Irish, French, and German. So we all see it.

I have been to Vancouver and Toronto. I felt more discriminated against because I am American than Black. People asked me if I voted for Trump. Which I did not.\nI’m know racism is in Canada but it’s not like here in the US where you have to worry about the po po.

My only question about these tests, is how large were the sample pools? And one other thing to note, is that compared to almost every other nation on earth, Canada has next to no racism (i believe we are actually the best on earth when it comes to that). I'm white and have traveled to Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and South America, and have experienced racism in every one of those continents. By a large portion of the people I interacted with. I also find that most racism that I have seen or experienced stems from 2 places. One culture and the second a lack of experience in interacting with other races.

I'm an american and this definitely has a powerful impact on our society. It's very much an unfortunate reality along with other things we are still being impacted by,

I'm not suggesting this explains what happened in this video at Best Buy but I will say that when I'm at my local Best Buy store and I'm white, that I get asked if I need help every 5 minutes! \nAgain, not justifying this video just adding my experience at BB.

I'm white, I've been followed in stores. I'm not stealing so I don't care. I rented a room to a woman from Iraq, she was nice but didn't speak english. She often left bits of tp where she sat, instead of womens pads I think. She moved 3 months later, she had stuffed cig butts under the plunger in her sink instead of the toilet. Immigrants had convinced her we overcharged and she moved in with them to her regret, but I wouldn't want her back. She was a needy pain. We have refugees in an apartment across the street, Many different plumbers the last few months, now all new tenants are white. I can understand why.

Okay so this is how third country agreements work. The paperwork in the offices in places like El Salvador is piled higher than the fkn Empire State. Nobody in their right fucking mind would want to wait until their wives are raped, kids taken into cartels. If I'm gonna go by the third country agreement, my family will be taken out one by one by the members of the cartel before the embassy even starts considering my case. So that leaves me with no damn choice but to cross the border illegally. And even then, there's no safety as I'll be hounded by the same guys all the way to the southern border with the States.

Thanks for this info, I have starting to this process AIPP do you Know tell me about the experience ? For example I'm Prodiction Supervisor so the question is can I work in assembling line for example or just like supervisor?

Canada abides by the 'first country of landing' international law. That means, you can’t shop for a country to take you in. You have to apply for sanctuary in the first safe country of landing. In international relations, Canada doesn’t consider the US a dangerous country. Canada's law REQUIRES that you apply in Canada first or not at all. I’m sorry that Trudeau's self stroking ego trip deceived people into believing they could just walk in and get a job. Getting a job is a whole other difficulty

I'm sorry, I never had an inmigrant status nor do I come from a country with a huge inmigrant tradition... But even I find the petition for refugee status kinda odd. I mean, go for another vida. Why do you need that refugee thing?

Horrible! I'm glad this woman spoke out! As for this Pos? He would be answering to me if he ever hit a woman!

Is this guy a resident of that apartment? She should get a permit to carry even a pepper spray bec this guy might ambush her outside of her apartment. Talking about decapitation...are the police not taking that as grave threat? I'm worried for her safety.
2020-07-21 0
I would love too come across something like this in public!!! This guy would have a very bad day and would not care about any charges I would have brought against me!!! This is the type of sh*t that makes me ashamed I’m Canadian at times.

When our indigenous students can study using their own language, it’ll be fairer.\n\nIn our region, students at grade 2 start learning in French or in English, these two languages have zero link to our language. I imagine French Quebecois shouting against their kids having to learn in Inuttitut in any school of our province from grade 2 all the way forward.\n\nThis system in place tells me that we matter less.\n\nI’m happy that CBC is encouraging discussions, this is how we’re able to collectively focus on solutions.

I'm going to bet that the results came out the same for the majority of people who took that test. It has to fit the narrative.

It seems that people conflate individual acts and experiences of racism with systemic racism. If the police stop and question me because I match a description - that's not racism, that's just inconvenient. Now if the officer said - hey according to city by-law blah blah blah, you're under arrest for having blue eyes *that* is systemic. There is a written on the books law treats me different from others. Systemic racism and flawed personal bias are not the same thing. The former does not exist in its literal form and (i'm very sorry kids) the latter will never go away completely.
2020-07-14 2
Lots of white fragility in the comments here. I'm white, and I'm not triggered by discussions of race.
2020-07-14 0
I'm still waiting for CBC to do as your former Yukon Morning host asked. Produce the program on how the CBC has contributed to and still contributes to systemic racism. Where is it CBC? I'm waiting.

I'm well into my 40s and have NEVER seen a case prejudice at the corporate level nor have I seen a instance of gender based discrimination. Infact, many of my employers have provided me female managers and POC. This narration doesn't speak to many because IF it's seen, it should be dealt with in a car by case basis as there is no systematic bias in North America other than this current narration that there IS a bias everywhere. Ashamed my tax dollars have funded this agenda as the CBC itself is a clear example of how diverse the Canadian work force has been and continues to be.
2020-07-12 0
If all you need to do is to get accused of shoplifting to be discriminated against I'm the most discriminated white dude around lmao.

I’m brown and I completely agree that racism is bad in Canada. I have heard n-words towards black people with the hard r, racism towards me, east asians, etc. High school was hell for me and the blatant racism continues with various friends and family. It was always overlooked and Ive been followed and pulled over by RCMP for no reason. RACISM EXISTS IN CANADA AND I LIVED WITH IT MY WHOLE LIFE AND IM ONLY IN MY EARLY 20S\nStats back it up as well. Indigenous and black people overrepresented in prison

oooOOOooo now this is a really bold piece of content - man I'm so freakin proud to have publicly funded media that doesn't have to worry about profits and can actually talk about issues... sometimes =p Wish it was more haha

This was very well done. I'm Canadian and this is upsetting to me. There is no need for this. I stand for respect and equality for all people. Time for big changes in our world. Love and respect is the answer. God Bless stay safe.??☺✌

where do you start with people like this. She really believes that Canada belongs to her. Did you go to an all white Canadian White School. When you was a kid growing up. ? At what point did you start to notice that you was a different colour to other people. When you can answer that question honestly..... then you will probably realise your the one with the problem. \nIf we are to follow history it was the white man that started to travel and from there on it was nothing but destruction. \nI wonder what will be written on your urn when you pass away and you are no longer apart of this world..... \nIn this urn lies a true Canadian . Oh s#¥t you've gone back to the earth. \nWhat you don't seem to realise is all this crap is politics \nWhen someone says to me go back to where you come from. (I'm already there. ) and my reply is take your small mind and what you claim to be your country. And shove it where the sun doesn't shine because the world belongs to me. \nI don't think you'll understand what that means and here endeth the lesson. Drops the ? Oops

I'm white but discriminated against at a doctors office because I wasnt dressed nice and had insurance but hadn't met my deductible. She tried to refuse me and said right in front of me, shell never pay. I threw afit and refused to leave until I got treated. I have been discriminated against alot because I dont blow my money on the nice hair, nails and clothes and all the other nice things everyone else has.But that's ok because everything I own is paid for. Alot of sacrifice but I'd rather have my little place in the woods then to fit into today's society.

This is nice to know but I still want to move to one of my favorite cities in Canada. I've had enough of visiting and hating to leave and the US, well, I'm pretty much over it.

As a former best buy employee for 3 years, I can confirm they enforce a 10 foot 10 second rule. If a customer is withing 10 feet of you, you have 10 seconds to greet and share your name with the customer. This is two fold- yes, to help reduce shoplifting, but also to encourage sales. This is something I share and reference with my sales team in a different setting now, however, I can confirm as an experienced sales person, the technique works to achieve both outcomes. It's super sad to see it being used for the wrong purpose in this clip. I think it shows a lot of racial bias. I'm curious what ethnicities the employees were that approached each shopper.
2020-06-18 0
Best buy employees always ask everyone if they need help!!! They approach everyone multiple times asking if they need assistance I'm pretty sure they work on commission lol that one I dont agree with

City really has a lot to with it. I’m a Hispanic in Houston, Texas, one of the most Hispanic places in Texas, and I’ve never really felt uncomfortable or felt like people have any prejudice towards me, but I didn’t know racism was still a thing until I was 19, so I may be super oblivious to these things still

I’m Hispanic but look 100% Asian. I used to get followed at Korean stores all the time.
