Just wondering where you expect to house these people?

The houses here are really nice but no one takes care of their yards. On my street there's beautiful lush trees and everyone has nice gardens. Maybe winter is about to come. It does get depressing. The best thing is to find friends who are interested in going out and living, not staying at home. Half of the US is pretty crazy.

I just read an article 5 minutes ago on CTV about a refuge that stabbed herself in the stomach. She said why is the Canadian government bringing us here if there are no places to stay. She said she did it to raise awareness of the lack of accommodations in Canada. Housing, healthcare, inflation, carbon emissions and now we are going to increase immigration to half a million. Our system is already broken. What are they thinking?

Why is the regime hell bent on pouring gasoline on a fire? Our great nation's been destroyed by trudolf's circle of oligarchs. No food, no housing, no health care, no security, but let's bring in more foreigners.!

Ya let’s add a large city of population to where ? These ppl won’t be moving up into the northern regions; they will be in all then main cities which already have housing crisis, healthcare log jams, traffic delays, good job availability… we already have enough homelessness n lineups at food banks… n until we have an economy where the 100k i gross working 65hrs a week which turns into 67k can at least qualify me for a mortgage for a small house in any city when u make that kind of money and have 150k down; then I don’t see any good in this for any middle class hard working citizen… just liberal politicians who want votes and to look good virtue signalling.. how many of our tax dollars already go to humanitarian aid, and wars in countries 10s of thousands of miles away nowhere near the americas… we have r own problems here but 500 000? A yr that’s ridiculous not definitely not feasible

What are the plans for housing all the new immigrants, considering most residents can't afford rent, let alone purchasing a home due to the extremely limited supply. At least Mr. Fraser can speak without using ahh and umm. Clearly the elected officials in Ottawa aren't able to connect the dots.......

They need these 'poor people' to bring in significant monies to buy over priced houses and cars and keep the economy going. It's simply a pipeline to bring money in from richer Asian and African economies to Canada. Has there ever been an honest debate on the subject? If the premise that country of 38 milion people does not have enough people was true, countries like Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Singapore, Oman, Kuwait all with less than 10 milion people some less than 5 should have been basket cases. But comparing those countries and Canada when it comes to standard of living the latter looks like basket case. Terribly functioning health care, high unemployment, people living on the streets and now shortages of certain food items in stores. Not to mention the housing market where it is impossible for working people to buy a place because it was left to the speculators from abroad. To make it clear, I am not against immigration, but sanity has to return in place of ideological madness and vote buying.

The past decade of immigrating 300,000 people each year has resulted in a housing crisis, healthcare crisis, poverty crisis and a chronic labor shortage. Prime Minister blackface has decided we need to just increase the immigration levels and it will be fixed, just like how the budget will balance itself and inflation is transitory and totally under control!

So… increase housing demand to reduce housing prices??

The government does everything to discourage Canadians to have children, but plans to increase immigration. 500,000 a year? This is social engineering and importing potential voters. Plain and simple. Many countries have much lower education standards, and they just can't come here and work in the same field as back home. We can't lower our standards. By the way – so much talk about colonialism. And how can we call the immigration practice that snatches the educated while they are needed in their own countries? And where they will be housed? Half mil people every single year? Now to rent an apartment borders with a miracle. So, Trudeau want as to live on the street because he will have to house newcomers. What a scam. And what about schools and daycares? It is sick and I am totally fed up.

Why not make the current (obviously vocally dissatisfied lol -read those comments!) people like you Instead of inviting people who’d merely be a guaranteed vote of the your party doing the door opening. \nOr how about training and inspiring good ethics in workmanship to the trades people I’ve come to live with, no one cares to make quality these days, everyone is just bare minimums and using it to make a buck, i weld for a living, and actually care about the work that I produce. And I believe get compensated quite well however… how is it that for someone -at the top of their field in your so desired “skilled” trades- position, can’t afford anything but your cheaply made “affordable” housing that (for someone like me) have a requirement for some garage space, not just s cookie cutter condo with a driveway… you’re taking all the possible space from current homeowners whom have desirable properties from the up and comers in the market. \n\n( Economic growth is just political pocket lining)

Before you start anything this important you have to do the research. Check for homelessness, inflation, affordable housing availability, also what kind of education and skills will these 500.000 immigrants have and will they speak English?? Even in a remote part of Canada rent is very high, Canadians are paying 1200.00 per month for a 1 bed 1 bath apartment and don’t forget utilities on top of that. Please help the Canadians already here first. Trudeau has to go and 500.000 extra votes will NOT HELP HIM

I am an immigrant myself and came here through Express Entry, before that I studied in the U.S. I am all for Immigration but with recent events, I think the government should spend more time on the cost of living crisis and housing crisis. What I am proposing is we make room and keep cost low if we are to bring in more immigrants. The hard to find workers argument is basically people not working low paying jobs, most of these immigrants will be educated, have degrees and mostly in Finance or Tech fields, the talent in these fields are saturated and it's very hard to have job mobility in these sectors. I am not for kicking the ladder down once I made it, I am just saying we should focus on cost of living and housing so that these immigrants can succeed and better contribute when they come here, instead of living in the living room because they can't afford rent in the cities and not finding work since most are in saturated fields.

Right now, we need fewer immigrants, not more. It is irresponsible to be opening the floodgates to immigration when we do not have enough affordable housing for them to live in. Where are they going to live? Under the current system, we have more new Canadians bidding up the prices on a limited supply of housing. To say that increased immigration will build MORE houses is just not true. Since 2000, Canada has brought in 5 956 963 immigrants; (Source Statista). During that same period that we brought in almost 6 million new immigrants, Canada’s housing situation has deteriorated to the point so that people are unable to find affordable housing. Forty-year old’s are living in their parents basements because they cannot afford a house or rent an apartment. If 6 million new Canadians only makes housing worse, what will opening the flood gates do? No, we need to fix our problems at home. Ensure that there is enough housing for people to move into before bringing them into Canada.

dont get me wrong; i enjoy other cultures of people as a part of my population; that said, are we going to see double these numbers in new houses being errected? with appropriate size living areas/yards? not just complexes? are we going to see a healthcare system that can handle above 20% of our municipalities ? if we are talking about futures we need to ensure we can all have exactly that; a feasible future.

Why cant we meet our Paris Agreement numbers?? Because our government is bringing in more immigrants that need housing (cutting down trees), that need to get to places that cars need to be used to get to, that need to build new sewage treatment plants, that breathe in more air.\nYes! With more people coming into the country, our greenhouse gas emissions go up, so what does this government do?? Increase the carbon tax thats supposed to be used to fight climate change. Great scheme, increase carbon emissions by increasing our population so we have all the excuse in the world to increase the carbon tax at a time when energy prices are at a record high.

No more There is no housing and it’s going to overwhelm are already overwhelmed healthcare system

If you don't come to Canada with a lot of money, you will never experience first world anyway. Making 100K CAD a year is still poor. So there is little chance you ever will have a great life. 100K salary cannot afford housing. Welcome to the 2nd world country that used to be 1st.

Our cities are at capacity now. It's gridlock everywhere. Where are these people going to live ? We don't have enough housing, schools are full, transit is crowded, hospitals don't have enough beds. ?

To make this work you have to RECOGNIZE THE QUALIFICATIONS OF PEOPLE FROM COMMONWEALTH COUNTRIES. Many people who are well-qualified are not recognized in Canada.\nChange the law. Whoever has STUDIED AND HAS CANADIAN QUALIFICATIONS AND IS FROM A COMMONWEALTH COUNTRY,, MAKE IT EASIER. Go to apartments in North Bay for rent. You will see 2 listings that have 1000 views already. There is to many immigrants here already to the point there is no housing. I have no problem with people coming here if we had the housing but sadly we do not. Not even for the people who were born and raised here.

I guess rent wasn't high enough so obviously we need to steal a portion of everyone's income to increase the demand for housing by bringing in half a million immigrants per year. We currently have a housing and medical crisis in this country and soon to have a food crisis as well. I doubt increasing immigration levels to these ridiculous amounts will help with that!! Too bad for people already living here I guess!!
