If America wants immigrants to study there, do jobs there then they need to educate themselves about those immigrants. They will bring their faith and culture with them and you can’t strip them off it

All of things that you mentioned are true and all of them have drastically changed in the past 4 to 10 years with increased immigration. Smaller communities have had prices go up to 3 to 4 times what they were 6 years ago. Growing up here, prices were much lower - there was so much to do - cultural community activities were so much fun. Many Canadians can't go back to their home communities now because the prices have gone up so much. Many Canadians also want to be with their family and friends and not in a home - and do. We travelled all over North America when I was a child, and it was much easier to do then. In summary, I think that many of these things are very recent changes.

As a kenyan living in the UK for the past 7 yrs ,i came into conclusion that theres something not right about nigerians living abroad, among all africans ive met here in England, its only nigerians that never loves their country compared to other africans, ive met south africans ,cameroonians ghanians ugandans malawians liberians and Gambians all of them are proud of their respective countries and they tend to go back whenever they get the opportunity, i inclusive i do go back to kenya like every december coz i just cant stand being in the UK the entire year without going back home for a couple of weeks ...when it comes to nigerians ive met over here theres something always off, they hate their country sooo much to an extent one told me nigeria is a country in ICU ,some even told me they can set foot in africa but not nigeria..so nigerians tell me wats soo bad about your country that you tend to run away from it, even in my home country kenya there are estates designated for nigerians..Besides i prefer being in UK than in north america coz of the distance i cant imagine being in US or canada coz of the flight hours ,they're sooo far away from my country i love it in the UK coz its closer to home and i dont need connecting flights in most cases when going to kenya.

Try going to America for their health care, you pay health insurance, but have to wait ages at emergency, you may get an op faster but if your plan does not cover all your costs you will need to get a loan, some people have to sell their homes. Yes they let you have a holiday or a sick day off but you don't get paid. Looking over the fence and chasing after the pot of gold has its downfall and believe me if home was a safe place, then staying would have been your best option.

One of the top issues is being black. Seen as black and identified as black when you leave a predominantly Black Country. \nWhen I watch the various Realestate shows of white people buying property abroad as second home or just packing up and moving. I always say it must be nice! Because the reality is they can see them self almost everywhere unless they choose to go into a remote area then that’s the only exception but even then as long they learn the language and respect the culture they are good they are liked welcomed and even seen as fascinating. Not saying they don’t have to struggle but the colour of their skin is the least! \nAmerica is great if your trying to be self made, be your own business owner, and other random ventures you want to dabble in. But to just go there and be a regular teacher, doctor, lawyer, engineer to the low and middle class you’ll end up with the same financial issues and struggles as a result. You gotta now cater to the rich and famous wealthy people but then it’s back to never being home and not enough time for family. \nThe reality is if we could make the money we make here in North America and Uk back home in in the Caribbean and specific countries in Africa it would be a dream come true and that goes for other communist countries too. You truly have to know what makes you happy. Make money but enjoy life it might mean living below your means even though you can can afford a bit better life style. People do it all the time back home (not because they want to I know) but for some reason when you move abroad a one bedroom for your single self is to small, the car under $24k isn’t good enough, you don’t want your kids to share a room so you need a bigger house and the list goes on and on. \nCanada is boring if your not in a major city with money to spend you know why? Because people forget the population of the entire country of Canada is only a 3rd, 4th, 10th of the population of certain countries that immigrants came from and in the case of the US population it’s 100x more than Canada. So of course there’s more opportunities there. \nAnd finally imagine if more countries didn’t need visas to travel? They really would just come to make money and go back home or live bicoastal. Even just the freedom of travel half of the immigrants would of settled elsewhere before the year was up or go back home.

Life in Eastern Canada (Quebec and Ontario) is way better. \n\n2) Weather : rain during winter is really a BC thing, the rest of the country : is SNOW and cold for 4-5 months\n\n3) Again, the cost of living is super expensive in Vancouver and Toronto. Here, in Montréal, it’s affordable.\n\n4) The more taxes you pay means you are making good money. 50% of taxes is \n\n5) Canada is beautiful, but if you don’t like our country, why did you came here in the first place ? \n\n6) Covid : Mmm it was maybe extreme, but Canada is one of the country that manages the best the pandemic in the world \n\n7) Rules ? For me this is fear. They are afraid to relate to each other, because people do not trust anyone. To me, America is a pressure cooker waiting to burst. In fact, the United States is the most dangerous country for the security of the planet, it has all the necessary ingredients to start a war at stratospheric levels. This is SO true!!! I am American but have lived overseas in the UK and Europe. I can’t believe the difference. Living in America is so lonely! It’s isolating. It’s very sad. It didn’t used to be this way in the 40s, 50s, 60s 70s. This is a new phenomenon. Without w church family (and I’m not religious) you are literally on your own - and that’s as an American! I can’t believe what it would be like being a refugee or an immigrant. Depression is high and largely due to isolation.

Why do you think that western society is so peaceful and prosperous? Maybe it's because capitalism depends upon individual innovation. It might be true that Africa has less loneliness but the social order in Africa is tribal, not capitalism which is why Africa as a whole is poor. Many people from Africa are talented and hard-working but the society in Africa or other collectivist societies doesn't reward that individual strength. I wouldn't call it loneliness, it's more like privacy and individualism and it's the reason why the US/Canada doesn't have a problem with overpopulation or violent radicalism. On the whole, I'm incredibly grateful to have been born in America.

Most people feel more comfortable living around people who are like themselves, with similar backgrounds. This is universal. This also was the way it use to be in America until a small group of white elites decided, apparently this had to change. Now people do trend to stay home and isolate themselves particularly in multicultural areas. As to this particular video, sorry l had a hard time understanding what he was saying.

This is America darlin. It's not Africa, it's not India, it's not Pakistan. We were a prosperous, bountiful generous educated people until the globalists stir up conflicts all over the world, making refugees and robbing our wealth.. They have decimated safety and we now stay inside more, often out of fear. It's no way to live. However I would never leave my country , enter another country through their generosity , then talk smack about them.

This video seems to really capture the reality of a typical America and the narration really crystalizes it. Even though it depicts a less urban setting, the same stillness can be found in cities and suburbs. It’s not what you see on Netflix or in Hollywood where there’s a story to be told and you do see a lot of human interaction from scene to scene. In real life America so many lead an isolated life indoors except for when one has to go to work or school. One explanation for this, however, is that community in America and many societies is not geographically determined. It’s structured around work, school, church, one’s immediate family if there is anyone and other kinds of civic associations. Loneliness really comes in when one does not belong to any of these “communities”. One’s geographical community (in a society like America’s) simply does not or cannot provide a sense of belonging. It provides physical and material comforts but not emotional or social sustenance, which has to come from those other types of associations. And I sense this is not just a Western world phenomenon. I think it’s happening everywhere and simply a fact of life wherever the vast majority of people living in any space have no family ties with one another. In a village or neighborhood setting in a place like India or Africa, you’ll have such liveliness on the streets and among neighbors because a lot of the people there are simply relatives of each other.

Very spot on, I started drinking for the first time in my life after coming to America, I was 30 and the loneliness was depressing me, had dreams of being back home playing soccer with my friends and visiting people I knew. Here you see rich people killing themselves because all the money they have can't buy happiness.

It is a very insightful video about what aspects of lifestyle can be very depressing for people. Also, habits define your life. People are not the most highly social in the USA. I moved to Mexico. I missed the tropics and I missed a less planned social life. At the same time, I think the economic pressures that people live in Africa and Latin America need to be addressed. Stay home and work on improving economics for your African or Latin American nations. Trading in extended family and the love of the community for money and loneliness is not worth it. What is worth it is an effort put in to improve the finances of nations with strong communities. The best of both worlds. Excellent video from EBS scholars.

I am born in America in the suburbs north of Boston.Your words are so correct. I am now 74, and my childhood was idyllic, playing outside every day, roller skating, bike riding, climbing trees and long walks with my girlfriends. Sadly, due to the scourge of the drug trade and gun violence all communities everywhere have been adversely affected. Parents are fearful of letting their kids play outside. I have lived in Egypt for 20. years with returning to the states every summer for 3months I became to realize the problem.\nThen I returned to Florida USA for 8 years to work.The difference was huge from the friendly Egypt. Definitely, isolation is the norm now in the states, and it is impossible for someone to adjust who is from Africa and be happy.\nThank you for clearly warning of the culture clash...it is real. The only option for an African is to live in the big cities like N.Y.. I am a 62 year old Canadian and I do believe things in North America were'nt always this way. I grew up in a semi-rural area. We knew who our neighbours were and knew a lot about them . In those days it was unnatural for kids to spend most of their days inside rather than running around the neighbourhood. Most people either were connected to a church or the Legion etc. There would be hockey , church dinners etc. That drew people together. Too much has changed but I don't think is consumerism alone that is the cause.

Block parties, cook outs, neighborhood meetings, bus trips to the beaches, weddings and Saturday clean ups were all apart of our past community's. Yes some still exist. However, anytime Blacks in America have demanded equity, justice, education, health rights, human rights, and fair housing, we are met often with a back lash. Suddenly, rents go up. Houses have doubled or tripled in increase. Crime waves have made it almost impossible for people to come out and relax freely. Political changes have also played a major roll. Neighborhoods have been redlined. Even where one goes to vote has been moved. White racism and fear, entire industry's have moved put of key areas. So thete is a natural break down. Neighborhood meets come to a end and different organizations from schools, to planting trees to parking all get affected due to such changes. Local small businesses that knew each family members also close up and leave. Its not a question of oh you have everything you need in your American house. That is not it! Its more complex. The lack of kids playing out front or the older ladies keeping watch have disappeared also due to no rent control policies.

This change is going on in Europe as well - not only America, however its very different in each part of Europe. USA is a huge country, with very different climates and communities, so lets not generalize. In Europe, i am from central eastern europe, yes, ppl tend to stay more and more at home, since the internet age. In the 80s more kids were outside, but its still way more community friendly than in some parts of the US where they dont even have sidewalks on the streets. In Europe, southern ppl still spend much time outside (spain, italy, greece), and the dutch, scandinavians, germans are traditionally colder ppl. The rest is technological change + covid effect and lazyness. + ppl are stuck to mainstream media which pumps them full of shit, fear and they are scared from each other - and try to compensate with buying more useless stuff.

Babyboomers have raised their kids into a very protective bubble. The consequence of this is laziness and fear of everything. which also reflects on how poorly the economy is doing, since a lot of young people dont want work, are not creative, not resourceful, very dependent, addicted to food, drugs and video games. America has not changed, the people have!

I am an Irish man that moved to the U.S.S.A twenty years ago. And my ass and all my other bits and pieces are now ( Thanks Christ be to Jesus) back in Ireland. America is not a country its a business. The most God dam cold vacuous depressing soulless place on this planet. Land of the fee and home of the slave. Back in the 1960s and 70s (and before) America used to be very similar to as you say, children out playing outside, and playing in the streets. Neighbors out and about and interacting. Now it's not like that so much.
