People would heckle and threaten visible minorities. \n\nBut I can say I have personally never experienced systemic racism in Canada. This country gave my family and I opportunity, safety and a just system. I was born and raised in Canada, and this is my home. God bless this land.\n\n\nEdit: I forgot to add that the post secondary program I graduated from had a disproportionately high percentage of students belonging to visible minorities. This is the case with similar programs across Canada. One could argue Caucasian students are grossly underrepresented in this program. This video did a decent job of presenting some evidence regarding systemic racism in Canada. While we are better than the US in this aspect, we still have large room for improvement. However, I disagreed with the comments at the end regarding prime Minister Trudeau's knee. At the very least, that is a symbolic move showcasing his solidarity and empathy with oppressed individuals and his commitment for a better future. A mistake 20 years ago shouldn't devalue his 20 years of evolution and growth. Hopefully, the knee is accompanied by efforts aimed at police reforms and improved mental health support.
