I know Canada is not perfect and I find you’re a bit hard on the red maple leaf... just because you don’t find the same things as your native country. It’s like\nfrench people coming from France, going to Quebec province an complaining about the food, the weather etc... well we’re not France, sorry to say! But I can\ntry to understand your situation; it’s probably inevitable that the comparison between your country and Canada would show up eventually. I see regularly \nimmigrants moving here and it’s true that it’s not easy. (Some people will have to be cab drivers because they can’t find work in their field). But you have\nopportunities if you work hard. I have the example of a Russian truck driver who move here with his family (wife, two kids). The man started by working for\na general transport company, then was able to buy his own truck. Now he’s able to work with whoever he wants. So I think every experience is different.\nOne other thing I noticed is that for families coming here it will always be easier for kids (even teens) to adapt quicker then their parents. I live in the east\n(the maritimes) and there is not very large cities. Some immigrants that come here will stay for a while but then they would move to a larger city (like\nToronto) because that city must have the most ethnic diversity in Canada. For cultural differences true that Canadians are like Americans in the «none»\nfashion trending. It’s a different mentality then Europe because over there fashion is a statement; you are judge on your appearance. Here, not as much.\nIt shows you don’t like winter and if you don’t your not a real Canadian! :-) Don’t generalize, a lot of people here like winter. And for taxes I don’t have a clear\nexplanation other then we have a huge empty country that needs roads, infrastructures, etc. and someone has to pay for it! (fun fact, all the population\nof Canada could fit in a country like Poland... it shows how empty it is here). Finally, and I heard this many times, maybe the people or the part of the\ngovernment to blame is Immigration Canada. Maybe they give to much of an idealistic image of Canada! Mass immigration has damaged the social fibre of Canada and driven the cost of living way up.\n400,000 immigrants a year is far too much and Canadians are getting tired of seeing too many people!

My parents came to Canada in 1957 from England when I was six. They came across all those issues you described in your very accurate assessment of the immigration issue. The most frustrating was that ridiculous “ Canadian experience “ barrier . A catch 22 excuse that defies logic. It’s merely a not so transparent way of giving you a substandard wage for clearly qualified experience. It’s very insulting especially when it’s obvious in many cases that the country you came from has even higher professional standards than Canada. I’m quite shocked to hear this unfair ,discriminatory practice is still operating and naturally turns many excellent immigrants away. Someone should be fired at Immigration Canada for not promoting the abolition of this practice , especially when it comes to doctors ,engineers etc. So wasteful. \nI’ll be following your videos in future. Just wandering if you guys are thinking of leaving as well and what your occupations actually are.

The Canadian immigration program is very difficult and expensive... We need lots and lots of money. It's difficult to get a job offer when we are not a Canadian citizen...

Immigrated from Haiti to Montreal in 2001, I was 22. it was impossible getting work in what I studied but worked odd jobs for a few months. Then I went back to university and got a Masters. Husband went back to university as well and got an accounting degree. I have to say the diplomas worked. We ended getting good jobs in our field and now have very good careers. We have some Haitians friends and after years of effort they are all doing relatively well here in Montreal. So can’t complain work wise as long as you are patient, do what you have to do you should make it. For me the biggest drawbacks are the harsh climate and the difficulty to make Canadian friends but plenty of immigrants to befriend so. Also as an immigrant you need to adapt and a lot of people cannot adapt to a new country and want to have what they had back home here that is not realistic. Immigration is not for everyone. But no regrets.

Canada is a country of immigrants, which means people who are, in my humble opinion, mostly quite self-centered and expecting the world from others, which never happens! Canada demands a gigantic capacity to adapt, to adjust and, in a word, to change...completely! You must be totally willing to leave everything behind if you want to integrate into Canadian society and this is extremely hard to do! Moreover, most immigrants come to Canada because they expect that country to give them a life of luxury or at least a very easy life, which can be true, as compared to certain other countries where life can be hell because of corruption, poverty or mismanagement and dictatorship. Now, don't fool yourself, you will find all of this in Canada too, in a very different way, although not always that different, but you will find it to a certain extent, depending on what you are trying to do here! Canada pretends to be a free and democratic country, but if there is one thing, that you are not supposed to do in Canada without dire consequences and reactions from most Canadians, it is criticism and voicing dissent! You will face repression too! I am 67 and I have lived in this country for over 30 years and now have lots of health problems, which I would probably never have had in another country, all this because of the frigging climate here...I just hate it here! And yes, don't be cultured and...play stupid and ignorant, otherwise you will face automatic rejection and that same stupidity and ignorance! A country of many cultures...yes, but also of deep rooted prejudices and intolerance! And if there is something that never changes in Canada, it is change! They expect you to change, but they never change themselves! in a word...Canada is a country like all others, no better and often far worse!

Lived there for 14 years on and off mostly bcoz had no choice to go back but all the time I was only hoping, praying when time will come that I will leave this country finally I’m out , thank God , truth is that there is too much hype about Canada in other parts of the world particularly in Asian countries , immigrating to other European countries is difficult now , the picture of Canada is being portrayed as the best place , it is a nice country to some extent but living comfortably is extremely hard , way too expensive , everything from groceries to education , it is completely out of reach for a new comer to buy a house in and around Toronto , way too cold , brutal winters , which are very depressing , problem is this country is mostly uninhabitable due to extreme cold weather , everyone is nestled in Toronto and it’s surroundings , very limited opportunities. \nCold Canadian behavior, I always used to call it Cold Hell. I can go on and on ….I’m happy I’m out from there. You can just struggle to survive , you can’t have future in Canada.

Undocumented immigrant (illegal immigrant)...has no legal basis for seeking Asylum in Canada. Another point, how many of these people is Canada expected to take? How much do the tax payers have to pay? \n\nMy parents came in legally and became Canadian citizens.

Hard to believe that an Immigrant, with no Canadian Qualification and no Canadian Experience, is offered a position of VP in a reputable company. I was there in Toronto for 5 years as Canadian Citizen. I, as a graduate of bio-medical sciences with 37 years research experience, 31 research publications, applied in various institutions, never got reply from any for any job I applied for.

I m from Lahore. Running my own business last year i made around 6 million pkr profit. And I started my business 3 years back. With lot of hard work and consistency i am able to make it and is hoping to increase it further. Great video! Reminded me of when I immigrated to Canada 21 years ago with 8 years of back home experience, still I had to wait for 5 long years during which I went to school twice to get into my field here, and countless times thought about moving back, but once stepped into my field here those thoughts went away. Speaking of taxes, I don't read my pay stubs in much detail, I'm happy as long as I'm able to pay my bills. Canadian Healthcare system doesn't pamper too much, but it's a great blessing in serious emergencies, I and my family experienced several times getting health services worth of several thousands of dollars and ending up paying nothing, so can't complain. At the end Canada is a great country and a great place to live!

You’ve been in an English speaking country for awhile. So why do you need to communicate via Spanish? You should’ve learned the language by now. That’s the biggest thing, if you want to be a American or Canadian then learn the language. \n\nI’m Latin and my father n uncles hated going places in the US and another Latin would speak Spanish to them. Canada does not need immigrants like this. Cheating right from day one is not the kind of people this country needs. Wang, if he's a naturalized Canadian, should have his citizenship revoked (if possible but I doubt it in this country) and he should be returned to China. Canadian immigration sucks. There is no control. I came as an immigrant and I witnessed many heart wrenching situations. Ghost immigrants and non resident Canadian citizens living in India, Dubai, Russia, Lebanon, USA, Israel, Turkey, HongKong etc. They barely lived in Canada, yet they have same rights like us, take child support subsidies, welfare, CPP, Old Age while we bust our a....s in the cold to pay taxes and build the Canadian system. Wake up.

The bigger question is why rich people don't want to live in Canada? Is Canada economy big enough to sustain and grow wealth? Or Taxes are too high for them to stay rich? Canada has been getting rich off all the Chinese immigrants for year's. Starting with Expo and the man that everyone loves Jim Pattison. Do your research. The growing Chinese population is rising and molding Canada to be a new version of China. The problem is that it's happening everywhere and the new problem is that it's become easier to play and flash the overused racist/discriminative card. If the government does not act now and recognize their manifestation of this major problem that is shifting Canada's true values and this will grow out of hand and it will be to late. We should have a kind of Super PR or near citizen status. Something that doesn't expire, but it is not full citizenship. This would allow to deport any one with fraudulent immigration process. They use the loophole, where people will surrender their original citizenship and therefore can't loose their Canadian citizenship anymore. Full citizenship would be granted after many years.
