I’m Canadian born but mums family is from Europe. \n\nIt’s seems like not a lot has changed since the 1960’s my grandfather had trouble finding a job for a while due to not having Canadian experience. \n\nIt took my friends 7years to become citizens here. As a born Canadian. They had to go back to school. Unless you are in the medical profession I don’t see why you have to go back to school. \n\nMost of our health care does come from taxes yes I can’t tell you how great it is that I don’t have to pay $80,000 per surgery. I have 17 over my life. In other places in the world that would make me homeless. \nBut the dental care has cost me a lot because of my condition. But even for me that is a fair trade off. (I rather drugs, dental would be covered) \n\nTaxes also include subsided things for the public, libraries, roads that fixed, reduced fares for public transportation, reduced health cost for low income families that’s not covered by the government. etc. Not all great but the health care coverage is great to not have to pay in full. I only pay $6000 in taxes at most a year. I have a low income. The more you make the more they will tax you because it helps get the services for everyone. That’s why you are taxed more if you make more.

I am born in Canada. If I had an in demand education I would be gone in a heart beat. The political system is broken. The taxes are ever increasing and the cost of living seems to keep pace with taxes. Wages are stagnant and our freedoms seem to be disappearing by the month. \nWhen you place a 6 month long winter on top of all that it makes it very obvious why people would want to leave.

I know Canada is not perfect and I find you’re a bit hard on the red maple leaf... just because you don’t find the same things as your native country. It’s like\nfrench people coming from France, going to Quebec province an complaining about the food, the weather etc... well we’re not France, sorry to say! But I can\ntry to understand your situation; it’s probably inevitable that the comparison between your country and Canada would show up eventually. I see regularly \nimmigrants moving here and it’s true that it’s not easy. (Some people will have to be cab drivers because they can’t find work in their field). But you have\nopportunities if you work hard. I have the example of a Russian truck driver who move here with his family (wife, two kids). The man started by working for\na general transport company, then was able to buy his own truck. Now he’s able to work with whoever he wants. So I think every experience is different.\nOne other thing I noticed is that for families coming here it will always be easier for kids (even teens) to adapt quicker then their parents. I live in the east\n(the maritimes) and there is not very large cities. Some immigrants that come here will stay for a while but then they would move to a larger city (like\nToronto) because that city must have the most ethnic diversity in Canada. For cultural differences true that Canadians are like Americans in the «none»\nfashion trending. It’s a different mentality then Europe because over there fashion is a statement; you are judge on your appearance. Here, not as much.\nIt shows you don’t like winter and if you don’t your not a real Canadian! :-) Don’t generalize, a lot of people here like winter. And for taxes I don’t have a clear\nexplanation other then we have a huge empty country that needs roads, infrastructures, etc. and someone has to pay for it! (fun fact, all the population\nof Canada could fit in a country like Poland... it shows how empty it is here). Finally, and I heard this many times, maybe the people or the part of the\ngovernment to blame is Immigration Canada. Maybe they give to much of an idealistic image of Canada! Canada is going down the toilet. I’ve lived here most of my life, born and raised, and it’s just a disgrace now. Forget about all the obvious things that have been stated like ridiculously overpriced homes, high taxes, crap weather etc. \nOne thing I’ve really become more aware of throughout my years here after travelling abroad is that Canadians are truly boring people. Everybody sticks to themselves in their own bubbles and no sense of community or fun. \nBilly Bob Thornton said something many years ago on what he thinks about Canada in an infamous interview on the CBC:\n “Mash potatoes and no gravy”\nDude is crazy and messed up but, you know, he is right in what he says. Perfect description.\nA lot of people here are mindless drones. People are so scared to be speak their minds. \nIt’s a messed up, almost “1984” Orwellian type of society in some ways. Disturbing stuff going on here. But, yay, free healthcare...which has horribly outdated facilities and overcrowded hospitals and waiting lists for certain surgeries where you can wait for years....oh and a lot of doctors who are very cold and no empathy...??

It sucks to work at minimum wages. It sucks to pay more in taxes. It sucks to be treated unfairly. But you have gotta move on...

Blonde Russian gal is super cute. And yes taxes are excessive in Canada but you'll be surprised to know that taxes in Scandinavian countries are even higher. Invest if you wanna save on taxes. I've done that in the US, UK and pretty much everywhere I've lived till date.

I was reading the comments and for me sounds like that those people are talking about another country. I am Brazilian, I would like that you guys have a chance to living here, haha, it´s so expensive, a lot of fo taxes, racism, corrupt politicians all the time. I have a friend living in Montreal and for her, it´s like a dream.

In USA we pay for medicare and social security too. However our taxes are lower as is owning your home.

You work harde only 3 weeks of holiday, more than 55% of your salary, will be Taxes and Insurance. After that very difficult to buy a house and to keep some money for any Project. And the worst part after 60 years you'll discover that the retirement is not enough, and you have to keep working.

Thank you for making the video, however, it does not depict the entire picture of immigration and immigrants’ situation in Canada ( re jobs, re-education & immigrants moving back to their countries). I hope my comment is not perceived negatively, but it stems from personal experiences: I am an immigrant, I’ve been in Canada for 28 years; I work in the immigration field; my partner is a new immigrant from Europe, with a degree in the medical field..A lot of what you say can be true , but it lacks depth, analysts & most importantly the bigger picture. \n\nPlease widen the scope of your research & explain the rational as to why things may be the way i they are. \n\nRe. Taxes; please compare to so-called 1st world countries like Germany, France, etc...

They steal your youth and money at the early stages, unless you are wealthy. Then the weather and the people will slowly drain you. Especially in Toronto. And I was born there lol. I finally escaped to China, but sadly had to return due to COVID. Next I will return to my parents home country Ireland. Then I can finally relax and not feel as scammed by the set up here. Where do all the taxes go? The infrastructure is basic and ugly, the metro is deplorable. Where does all our money go?

I have been PR and working ( oil & gas ) in Canada 50% of year for past 7 years. Buy house in Banff and pay ridiculous high tax. I am happy in Canada, but will never leave Russia. Wife and kids come to vacation in winter to ski and we enjoy this time. Probably biggest reason we would never stay in Canada is low IQ liberal government of virtue signalling imbeciles. World laugh at the western liberal and for good reason. \nGreat country, terrible government.\nI will continue working there and supporting the country with high taxes but will not permanently live there.

a lot can be said about your narrative. you failed to mention the age of immigration. That alone is THE single most important factor on the out come of the exercise . anyone over 40 should not immigrate. second the education and skill set you bring will be a major factor in the out come. Third there is systemic racism after a certain level which one can feel in very job. i strongly believe one should come to Canada, get top quality education and skill, work with top quality people/organizations which should not be more than 5-6 years, then go back home. the long term price of immigration is huge. This country needs hands to work and pay taxes so that their show should go on. The BANKS are the GOD of the land. one can never obtain financial freedom ever. heavily taxed with very poor social bonding even among the same ethnic groups. yes its good for people who do not make it in Pakistan or bring in ill gotten money\ni know so many ex police DMG and others groups who are absconders from Pakistan and living in Oakvill etc. in addition who says it is safe here or it is a corruption free society, ANY body with a second mortgage has got it with fake documents with the help of brokers, the banks , CRA and every body know about it but being a highly HONEST society no one dare say a word! i will not even go into the thing called debt. it is a night mare for the vaste majority. remember Canada is much bigger than GTA

And whats the monthly bill apartment bill, grocery, cell phone, internet, car insurance and whats left behind.. living in good neighborhood means higher apartment monthly rents ... u wud have no option but to send ur wife to work. Which wid make other things complicated. Both of them come home tired and upset and life is too fast to just survive. Having the house in Toronto and neighborhood is soo exoensive and u have to keep paying till u die. \nOfcourse ppl work themselves because it's too expensive they can't afford to pay for repair. Just the house and road beauty is not enough. Happiness doesnot come cheap. U pay the price.

You get shifts that vary from 4hrs to 8 hrs also then taxes, CPP and other factors should be accounted as well :)\n\nThank you for your efforts but you would know taxes are a major thing and i believe you should cover that too. Taxes remind me a thing: a couple of years ago when I was excesively paying taxes, I requested admin staff to please help me so that I pay what I must pay. They didn't help me. I went to my (above 80!!!) G.D. and asked him to sort it out please. He said, you are earning handsome amount, so you should keep paying this amount of taxes. :D :D Not to mention, he was a retired guy earning still about 4 times more than me and his family is settled in Canada too. :) God bless everyone!

Great video! Reminded me of when I immigrated to Canada 21 years ago with 8 years of back home experience, still I had to wait for 5 long years during which I went to school twice to get into my field here, and countless times thought about moving back, but once stepped into my field here those thoughts went away. Speaking of taxes, I don't read my pay stubs in much detail, I'm happy as long as I'm able to pay my bills. Canadian Healthcare system doesn't pamper too much, but it's a great blessing in serious emergencies, I and my family experienced several times getting health services worth of several thousands of dollars and ending up paying nothing, so can't complain. At the end Canada is a great country and a great place to live!

It is such a shame that follow Asians and even American Natives play such a role in perpetuating racism against African descent people, but I guess they have their issues of identity. It is still dangerous because there is so much hatred across the world against us as we are coming to understand. And hatred is unpredictable. It comes in different ugly shapes. \n\nAfrican descent people are institutionally exposed to a lack of opportunities based on race, leading to the disproportionate poverty levels in our communities, and poverty brings your far closer to crime. That should not be so difficult to calculate. We're faced with higher mortality and disease rates, covid 19 has rubbed that to our eyes, care systems medical world is in less favour and neglect black communities. On a day-to-day, I am so insulted about the security guard that follows me in the shop, it is so disrespectful and embarrassing, that makes me move suspiciously indeed, yet so low and ignorant I don't even want to have to confront the issue. \n\nI agree with the writer who writes about his experience (and shame?) of being a black man in Canada- the same is institutionally reflected in Europe and across the world let's not be naive, we're not welcome but they should know they have no choice. I believe what he really is trying to express is based on the fear of being a black man in a hostile environment, but we should certainly have nothing to be ashamed of. \n\nOn contrary, we should be very proud because we are still here, like any other citizens paying our taxes and playing positive roles in society by major. Um... (1) Living in Alberta, I pay overall less tax than someone in my tax bracket living in California. We don't all have high taxes. (2) Montréal is allo-lingual, and probably 80% able to speak English in its core. Quebec City is primarily French. (4) We have publically funded, not free, healthcare, and regulated pharmacare, private eye and dental care (5) you typically tip anyone who provides you a personal service - you should include valets, housekeeping, consierge services, porters and anyone who provides exceptional service. Get out of Vancouver, Canada is big.

Question on your tax statement, is that effective tax rate? Curious if it’s like USAs. People confuse the % but it’s actually not your effusive tax rate because it’s not 30% off the top of 100k. It depends when that tax bracket starts and any income in that tax bracket made is taxed at 30% not the income below it. People always make this mistake and think that 30% of your entire income is taken off.

Do you even live here? First of all, if you're making 100k taxes are at +40%, also we have 3 official language. So you don't seem to have a grasp on Canada!

The income tax in Sweden is not 60 %. Our taxes are divided into the different regions of the country. Some cities pay more while others pay less. I think the highest is 35% and the lowest is 27%
