My problem with women covering their faces is that that men are not allowed by law to cover their faces, so why would a certain group of women have this right. Women SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN A HIGHER STATUS because we should be EQUAL to men. People easily use freedom of choice as an argument to defend every single thing they do. I WISH, I WISH, I WISH they would advocate for freedom of choice in their country of origin. I wish they would fight for human rights the way they do when they come to the Western World. And saying that covering your face doesn't define you is complete bulls*** because when we ask you to take it off suddenly it becomes who you are as a person. As a Canadian Christian woman of Lebanese origin (second-generation immigrant), I love everyone... jews, muslims, hindus, ... you name it. But what I don't like is HYPOCRITES.

Mississauga is now Muslimssauga, refugees and asylum seekers cheats Canada and once they get Canadian passport they go back to Syria or Iraq for holidays then they don't face precautions or life threats. Or they will keep there family with 4 or 5 kids on welfare and husband goes to middle East to get high paid salary as they have Canadian passport. We pay hard earned money as tax and these people enjoy shisha at square one. Don't know when the Canadian law makers will understand the loopholes in Canadian refugee and asylum policy. Racism has always been in Canada, dont be fooled. It may not be as prevalent as in other countries but racism is in fact here in Canada, I grew up here, Im a black born Canadian and dealt with it all my life. Mostly just taunting and name calling but one thing is certain, wherever you find white people you will find a lot of ignorance and even the good ones seem to always be a step or 2 away from a racist rant when they agitated. As long as they don't get violent with non whites then I guess we can deal with the slander and name calling. As a person with a darker hue, you will always be looked at like you are an Alien to them.

As a permanent resident based on merit who worked two years to get it, I feel like my work was worthless because people who simply bought their citizenship and can’t even speak English or have any basic merits to qualify for PR are all too common in Canada. The Canadian skilled migration is a scam, skilled workers are better off going somewhere they will actually be valued.

Poor, poor NON-refugee. Should have followed US immigration law. Could have been living and working legally in America by now and with his wasted legal fees probably in his pocket. lol..People like us have to first study in our home countries till a graduation then have to study in canada by spending 30-40thousand CAD,then clear language exams,get some year of Canadian work experience then Immigration officer can decide if we are eligible for canadian PR.

And, people see no good reason to comply with irrational laws like this, so they find ways around them. \nIf you're granted permanent residency, why do you have to keep proving residency?\nWhat next? Fining citzens for going on holiday for too long and hence not paying enough into the Canadian Economy? If so, the CEO's of many major Canadian businesses will be hung out to dry. So, I suppose that's a stupid law which won't be brought in, as it would hurt the wrong people.

I live in Toronto n I respect Canadian culture as well. One should learn to mix up with other people and get respect in turn. I have problem with those who belittle their own country just to keep up appearances as Canadian. Be good Indian first then you will be good no matter where you live. Our actions here define the image of our country.

It pains me to see so many people--not just in Chinese Canadian community, but throughout all ethnicities and demographics--take Canadian citizenship for granted. Being a Canadian citizen, having the right to exercise responsibilities that come with this citizenship, are a privilege. Harper was right. Muslims that cover their faces, are obviously leaning to the radical right. Muslims previously came here to get away from the conservative, fundamental, radical doctrine of their Islamic countries they came from. They wanted to return to the western lifestyle they had in the 60s, 70, educated and enjoying freedom. Now since Trudeau, more and more coming in, don't want to become a Canadian and live as a Westerner. This separates people from other faiths, in engaging in conversation with someone, that clearly wants nothing to do with her Western neighbor, bus driver, teacher, etc. These people that wear this attire are radicals, or just one of the sheep of the radicals.

I am actually shocked by people in the comment here. All talked like you knew a lot of things of immigration and citizenship. Loll but many don’t even know the first thing, the difference between permanent residence and citizenship. Immigration jail is referred to PR required living time in Canada. PR don’t have a Canadian passport and only citizens can have it. Once you are a Canadian citizen, you don’t need to live in Canada for a required time. China does not allow dual citizenship and that is why they try to scam the system to make up the living time in Canada.

If this is the kind of sentence you get in Canada for those crimes, well we are literally saying to the honest people here, go and do crime as well!

Btw, Canadians in general are kind, brave, compassionate, and very civilized people. There may be some racists there, as there are anywhere, but when I visited Toronto all the Canadians were lovely. My family is multiracial and they treated us as normal human beings. Thanks to Canadian Border Patrol, which was so professional positive, and welcoming.

I am surprised to see that a person who has not spent a single minute in Canada enters the country as a permanent resident . has not paid a single dollar in taxes enters as a permanent resident. has not played his part in Canada's society and doesn't know fuck about Canada enters as a permanent resident of Canada. it does not surprise me to see people commenting about residents living in Canada do not speak English. \n \nI will give an example of the UK here which is far more developed than Canada and have very high standards. first of all, no one can enter the UK as a permanent resident of the UK. even if their partner is British, they will still come to the UK on a visa. depending on how much their British partner earns, it will take 5 to 10 years for them to settle in the UK, provided they pass the residency test in the UK(which Canada does not ask for whether you are in Canada applying for a PNP or PR or you come directly from another part of the world). a person who gets in the UK as a student spends minimum 7 years, if he is not married to a British /EU national to get a PR, most spend 10 for a UK PR(known as ILR in the UK) provided they pass the test for English and life in the UK (citizenship test). in return, the UK offers to its residents what no other nation offers. canada is giving away residencies as if its a leaflet. it's easier to get a Canadian residency than it is to extend a skilled visa in the UK. I have lived in Canada and felt that standard of living in canada is not very high as compared to the UK. so if Canada offers easy residency to people, it is only because they also know they are not giving away something precious :)

We need info how 2 move permanently 2 US since Canada is no longer livable.taxes and property prices is simply unbelievable. LiberAls collect taxes and spend it on ISIS & refugees families here. We hardly make 4k per month while my neighbor refugees from ISIS gets 12k per month from Canadian government that's 144k per year. I was blown away when i heard it. Advice to all skilled people just leave Canada it's not for us.

I know Canadians that are living in dumps these people are sleeping in good condition why not Canadians what is wrong I have to pay taxes and my daughter who is handy cap gets nothing from the government explain that, The welfare gave her 400. for a month to find a place you come and find a place. Now you have to eat buyfood and female things yes right I can't do it I want the government to put my daughter up in a hotel which is clean and feed her. She is dying so skinny.
