its funny the cbc disables the comments section on all their videos that white conservatives are likely to respond negatively to. but when its the reverse , boom. ill tell you a little story about racism . 35 yrs. ago i worked demolition and one day i notice these new guys just standing around. a couple of other guys come over to me and point out that those three guys just standing around would be fired at the end of the day, when i asked why they told me it was because they werent doing any work becuase no one would show then what to do becuase they were black they used different words. so i went over to these three guys and told them if they didnt work they would be fired at the end of the day. they said no one would show them which i thought was pretty lame since the job was to pick up the demolition garbage and pill it like every one else, so i showd them and save their jobs.

growing up in canada, i felt left out in the blk community b/c i am a 5th generation blk cdn on mom's side and 3rd on my dad's - when other black ppl not canadian born met me - i tell them i'm cdn, but i always used to get the question - where are you really from - they were looking for me to say the islands - when i told them my paternal grandma was born in 1901 in canada - that's when the questions stopped. i've been told that b/c i wasn't from the islands, i had no culture in college, but a mbr of the black student society put him in his place i heard he got into a lot of trouble. i was asked what do we eat as in food as canadians what kind of music do we listen to - at our blk canadian weddings, the only carribean song played was hot hot hot by arrow - we played straight up r and b and motown. i hv been rejected by other blk men b/c i'm not west indian enough...it was hurtful. even with 'friends' they made of my cdn heritage but i used to think, why are you making fun of me knowing that my family and ancestors were in canada first - they were 1st generation - i live in the usa now and i'm with an african american man - he has never treated me as if i were different and he loves going w/me to canada. my parents told me it was jealousy on those ppl's parts - one guy i used to be friends with in college, when i went to his house, his mom was from the islands, when she met me - she said, 'you cdn ppl are loud' and that did it for me - i didn't date her son but when he met my parents, they never said any of that crap to him. in the usa, the african americans don't treat differently at all - my ex mom in law thought we were american but decided to live in canada - b/c she was surprised that blacks do live in canada. her other daughter in law's family were from the islands - but she gravitated more to my family and felt comfortable around them more than her family and this ex sis in law would brag about the islands this and that and she would make comments about my looks being skinny and such but it was jealousy - i didn't care much for her b/c she was very insecure. i felt once again, i was a young girl in college again - being around island ppl....i would love to meet drake and ask him did he feel left out and isolated because he wasn't from the islands - he makes me very proud being a blk canadian - his dad is african american and his mom is jewish. i still hv dealt w/racism not much with wht ppl, but with my own ppl - which is quite sad and on top of it-colorism, that also played a part from my family - being called pygmy, chocolate dip, nappy hair - it hurt but these so called relatives, they aren't all that anymore, they had hard lives as children...when ppl see something in you that is special and they don't have, that's when their ugliness shows -

So, they illegally immigrated to the US, and when the US got strict on illegal immigrants, you illegally immigrated to Canada? I'd put them on the first plane back to where they came from, and deny them any possibility of every coming back.\n\nYou want to come to Canada? yup. It would be really difficult to immigrate to Alberta now. Our unemployment rates at ridiculously high, our provincial deficit is out of control, and our main resource is showing few signs of actual recovery. He broke Canadian federal laws when he entered illegally to Canada! Him and his family should have been deported as soon as they arrived and under the 3rd party agreement Canada has with the U.S that is what was suppose to happen. when I was 17 I was followed by a store detective. As I was leaving the store, in a very loud voice she accused me of stealing an item. Many people heard, and she had me go in the back storage area, demanding to look through my purse. I refused and told her the item in question I had placed on the shelf, as I did not have enough money to buy it. She told the stock boys not to let me leave and went to check the shelf after I refused to let her search my purse. She came back with the item and told me I could leave. I said I wasn`t going until she apologized to me. She said, ``I`m not going to apologize to you.` She sneered. The detective was black. I am white. I was the victim of racial profiling. This happened in a Shoppers. I wish I had known I was entitled to $8,000.00 like the lady in this film. I am sick of shows like these that racially target whites. I had a friend that years ago she was living in the UAE. She was expected to cover up or else. Well being the rebel she is, she dared to show her shoulders. Can you show the professor to Belgium please. I prefer a Canadian over an American or a German because our racism exceeds all borders. On a daily basis I experience black racism on an unheard scale. I do appreciate what was said in the show but there other types of discrimination by employers, landlords, stores. It can be how you dress, how you wear your hair, what colour your hair is, if you have tats. For employers, your medical history: I was refused a job at a bank because my grandfather was epileptic and it was thought that I might have the problem. When looking for an apartment or house it really all depends on the owners frame of mind on that particular day, not your references. So it is invasive in all of our lives. Human nature is not all good.

Call me whatever, but India has been dealing with this for a very long time, probably since 1980s. I dont hate islam but I dont love it either. Let's just say that I wouldnt buy a house in Muslim neighborhood. It has been a nuisance to India since a long time, every time we screamed in UN for help. I actually really appreciate the guy at 8:02.... He was a very honest person about it. I mean, profiling is bad, but sometimes it helps. SOMETIMES someone's clothing, body language and attitude can give you a lot of information about a person. As an artist, I notice these things a lot, and I'm not trying to be rude or prejudice, or anything, these are just things I notice as an artist, whose job it is to capture and show people's emotions and bodies.

I was accused of stealing.  I gave them what they wanted.  I opened up my purse and dumped everything out on the floor.  The manager showed up and made the employee apologize and put everything back in my purse.

this is a great show. I live in the NW in the USA and I have been to Canada a few times. I never realized how much racism was in Canada. My ignorance is bliss I guess, but it's still better than the racism here in the States.
