I feel sorry for this man and his family! But I wonder how sorry he feels, knowing that by coming to Canada, he and his fellow immigrant countrymen have, taken jobs away from Canadians? 1500 people like myself that have worked here all their lives? I was working in the meat industry for over fifteen years, just to have my employer, take my skilled job and give it too an unskilled worker, under the temporary foreign worker program. That program was set up by the federal government for unskilled workers, coming to Canada for unskilled jobs that Canadians didn't want. My job was a skilled job, that I had to work my way up from the bottom, to the level of employment, that only skilled workers were capable of doing. This temp program was for unskilled employment only! But if your employer is big enough in the industry, the government allows them to bend the laws of the land, and give your jobs to any undereducated immigrant that comes along...WTF? Canada wake up!!!

look at your color you got the chance of getting killed over there too so why why did people come in here and and or take our resources mean to be for American citizens only that's not right

I dont feel sorry for him at all he knew what he was doing. He knew he was breaking the law he knew his family would be breaking the law by crossing the border illegally. I don't feel sorry for him for his wife or for his children. If he would have come across the right way he wouldn't be fighting to make sure he didn't go back to Mexico. It is his own fault and I don't feel bad about sending him his wife or his kids back across the border with their bags packed. Everybody's all poor Mexico people poor people come over they need help. No. They need to stand up to their local government fight back against the gang members and take their country back. If they're not happy with their country they need to fight and make the change.

The most racism I experienced in school was from teachers. Its the most profound kind of racism, because they are authority figures. The thing is when your fellow students display racism it doesn't have the same gravity as it does when your teacher does it because you know your teacher does know better but they truly believe it.In University, I actually had a teacher give a lesson that was so tinged with racism that it really broke me down, because what I've come to realize is that so many people think that being racist is saying actual racist words and don't understand that perpetuating stereotypes are the most prevalent forms of racism.  It is demoralizing because it feels like a losing battle when your teacher is perpetuating racially disparaging ideas to an entire class, and you think about how many people are going to be influenced by that idea and in turn perpetuate it. I realized that this teacher really insidiously believed what she was saying was true, but that it just wasn't politically correct to say it. The main principle of white privilege is that white people get to be individuals but people of colour get grouped together by the most base stereotype of their race.  I don't think Black-focused schools are the solution. I think more integrated schools with diverse populations of students and teachers are the solution.\n Then there are concrete issues of race, space and the law. For example when you come to realize that carding continues in Toronto, and that most residents do not care that young Black men are being harassed and treated like criminals by the police because it does not affect their community, it makes you wonder if people are only inclined to feel empathy for those who look like them.

Especially to people who think they can jump our border and our immigration process. There are plenty of people who spent a lot of time and work to earn their citizenship legally. Living in Latin America is not that bad, well there are parts where you should avoid at all cost but there are places where you can have a safe decent life, most of you just say what comes out of your small little brains without ever even leaving your city your whole life. Its just that this people have lived and been so dependent from your system and in stretching their hands( beg) all this time that they not know what to do now. \n\nHe said that he wasted 15 thousand dollars in lawyer, if it would have been me I could have perfectly moved to lets say Costa Rica or Peru and still have money to buy land. But they really are addicted to this kind of life. I agree that the people in El salvador have made violence to sky rocket because they have not done nothing about it, they left gangs and violence to proliferate and now its just too late for them. But there is still hope in other places in Latin America.

To all the people saying why dont these immigrants stay in their county to make it better---here is a little think piece because i used to say the same thing\n\ni used to say the same thing but we are blindsighted by your american privilege. My parents are immigrants and i told them the same thing, why dont people stay to make their country better? And they flat out told me it will get you killed. Americans have no idea how coniving amd evil leaders in other countries can be. Just the other day, a dictator from eritrea was bargaining prices with Israel to send back refugees from his country. He said the refugees fleeing his regime should be given 50k to be deported from isreal because they risked their lives. You would think he really meant that right? As soon as those refugees come back hes taking that money and sending them to a forced slavery like military program. There is no such thing as human rights. So if you were in such a dire situation, dont you think you would do anything to get out? The only solution i see is if the entire world could be under a larger, strong governing force that keeps leaders in check and can withold vital resources from offenders. The UN isnt cutting it.

It's a heartbreaking situation, but a country has the right to decide who comes in and who doesn't. The places where hard-working, industrious people like Jose come from need to drastically change their societies to capitalize on his talents and provide for a stable future for his children. Perhaps what the US and Canada can do is help train those country's leaders to implement policies that improve their economies like establishing strong property rights, rule of law, free markets, tough measures on crime, etc. But unless you have a Ph.D. in Physics or will start the next Apple computers, we have plenty of unskilled labor here already. Look, I feel for the guy and I'm empathetic to his plight, I don't think he's an evil person, and our country may be better off having him here working and contributiing to the labor pool, but the law is the law.

Can you show the professor to Belgium please. I prefer a Canadian over an American or a German because our racism exceeds all borders. On a daily basis I experience black racism on an unheard scale. People come to me and explain they feel totally excluded from our society even when they contribute to it by (mostly manual) hard labor and social or political engagement. Maybe a Canadian profile could get some acceptance in Belgium. Same thing goes for Hindi, Asian and Muslim people. I agree with this law. For safety reasons. I have a few muslim women friends including two females family members that are muslim and they dont cover their faces. They also agree with this law. we all have the right to see the face of whom is around us. I also know one woman that is not muslim but dresses and covers her face like one. Why she does that I and my neighbours dont know why. She does not talk to anyone about it and only dresses that way when she goes out of the neighbourhood. What are her intentions to do such thing? She is portuguese does not speak arabic only portuguese and broken inglish. When we ask her why she does that we are told to mind our business. We feel that it is our business because she is very strange and like i said before she only dresses that way when she goes out of the area that she lives in. What is she up too? And like her how many more is out there doing this and why? Whthout any offence to the muslim people SAFETY should come first to everyone.

I agree that racism exists in Canada in a subtle form. In my experience people would have more discrimination towards minority with foreign accents. I have heard from other people commenting immigrants 'this person has accent' and to me, it can be perceived negatively. Sometimes I feel I am treated differently because I have accent, especially at working environment. Few years ago I worked in school and my white boss put this on my yearly performance: Your 'emerging' English skills can have negative impact to children's language development. I didn't tell this to anyone but was very disappointed as we are a diversified country with so many immigrants, and this should not come out from an educator's mouth.

I grew up in Canada and now live in the southern US. There were so mild few and far between racist instances. In America, racism is ingrained. It is a daily battle. There was a strong institution of slavery, segregation, and Jim Crow laws. All I can tell people on this tape is to try and come living here!

I have often wondered why can't we have a healthcare system like Canada's but America spends all of it's money on so many things in the world because of our position on the world stage we just can't work that out, thats what happens when you're the world super power.\n Most Americans have health insurance through their employer, a certain amount is taken out of our paycheck every month and if I get sick or have an emergency I pay a small co pay at the doctors office which is 35 dollars and emergency room co pay is 150 the insurance pays the rest.

Call me whatever, but India has been dealing with this for a very long time, probably since 1980s. I dont hate islam but I dont love it either. Let's just say that I wouldnt buy a house in Muslim neighborhood. It has been a nuisance to India since a long time, every time we screamed in UN for help. You cannot defend the argument when someone says Women are suppressed in mulsim culture. The most hurtful thing happening is in UK. A country which gave you food, shelter, respect, a better life. You are trying to impose your values on it? As a matter of fact, good muslims should come out openly and boycott these terrorist who are trying to create chaos if they really want to show good intentions but you wont see any (for obvious reasons). They often cry about they being a victim but what about other people?? If all good muslim come out and boycott bad muslims then that would be a thing to appreciate and notice. Why is it that you have plenty to say about muslim women having their right to wear the burka but when I had to go to Jeddah when one of your stinking, rotten, filthy men, blew up my husband,s car, with him in it, that......... Because he couldn,t get out of his death bed to come to the airport to get me, they were going to send me back to the UK on the plane I had arrived in and..... I wasn,t allowed to leave that airport until I had a burka on!
