Nothing surprises me.... Canada's no different

In 2006 I applied for a job in a different city in UK and because of my last name they invited me for an interview expecting a white person. When they saw me they mentioned that they I was a white person. I was shocked. And I turned the offer because I felt I will be experiencing racism if I take the job.

I was raised in Canada and lived in America for 3 years, this was around the time Hurrincane Katrina hit. I miss living in Houston, but wouldn't change for the world. I love it here in Toronto. The guy made good points about the obvious differences between the neighboring countries. I'm full of Texas pride, but Canada rocks!!!

I don’t find this video to be useful or accurate. The differences in USA and Canada are much more profound than described in this video. The value systems of people is quite different and so are economic laws.

The amount of people prosecuted by racism is so small that we would be better to deal with individual cases also it's not going away as long as people are different well always complain about something it's in our nature

Such generalizations. After listening for just one minute I conclude that you found out that lumping everybody into the same basket was stupid but it took you 25 years to find that out. Wow! More people are killed or injured traveling in car than in a mountain bike. There are 50 states in the USA so most statements you make may refer to just one or two states. Canada has 10 provinces and the health care is slightly different in each province. Wait until you have lived in any country for a few years before you can talk authoritatively about it. Canada is a good country to live in so is Australia but even better are some or the northern or western countries in Europe where health care is affordable and good and food is affordable and good. The USA has more millionaires and billionaires and a lot of them are in government. Think about that. Lots of guns and judging by the news quite a few racist cops who never get punished. Think about that too. Bad water in many places; also worth thinking about. There are more lobbyists than there are legislators and they all make money; think about that and ask yourself why.

I'm black Canadian... Of course I would never say racism doesn't exist in Canada... But the Canada that they are describing is foreign to me... Where as As soon as I cross the brother to the state I get racially profile... By the time I get to New York City I'll get stop 3 times on average... So... Again not sure which Canada they are describing...otd a different time now...

When we learn to look upon one another with compassion regardless of their race, religion or personal belief's and look instead at the heart of an individual, only then will we make strides to heal and to connect one another across Canada and the world. There's an overwhelming racism borne of intolerance for one another and intolerance is borne in my opinion often of fear. When we don't understand someone, we do tend to make up something to line the box that we force someone to live from but would never accept the same for ourselves. If you see someone being berated, being treated differently then you yourself would accept, you owe it to yourself and to the one being hurt to stand up and to intervene. When attitudes change, people change. Blessing's.

Blacks and whites are different. Whites need 15 minutes in strong sunlight to get their RDA of Vit. D. Blacks need longer. On the other hand, whites sunburn much faster. The best thing would be the ability to instantly change skin tone: pale skin on cloudy/winter days for faster Vit. D uptake, then deep black on hot days for UV protection. That would be so cool: instant photochromic skin.

When you people say Muslims , do you mean the Canadian Muslims who were born here and adapted their faith and new culture together or the Syrian refugees who prefer Syrian Arab culture, cause there's a huge difference.

Some of these are kind of ridiculous or just coincidental.. especially the police thing. A black guy did the crime, it wouldn't make sense to receive information from witnesses about a black male, and then police only check the white males... It's basic forensics. Also, you can't just pull only 1 person from 3 different races, and call that study accurate. add a few more chinese, black and white people, and maybe it will be a bit more accurate. This might be similar, but a little different. I've been language profiled before, just for speaking my mother tongue. I'm bilingual, english is a second language to me but welsh is my first and primary language. I find it hard to see Islamic belief as a religion. Because you never hear of near death experience! All near death documentation, in both the sciences and secular information. Says that one either goes to hell, or gets to meet a being of light, Jesus . I have searched for years, for this information in my studies. AND IN MY 30YRS OF STUDY HAVE NEVER FOUND ANY, I have asked Moslum friends directly. But they too have never heard of anyone with a different experience then those I've above mentioned. Why is this?

There is no difference between good or bad Muslims let me tell you why ..because at the end of the day they all desire the same objective and that is to achieve Islamic law which ever part of the world they choose to settle. We should ban Islam and demolish all mosques also it should be made illegal to distribute Islamic literature if they want to pray let them pray in privacy of their own homes. or migrate to an Islamic country that matches their lifestyle.

I was raised in the understanding that Canada is a multicultural country unlike other countries in Africa, Asia or Europe. Meant to be a mix of beliefs, languages and slot of other difference that are both physical and not.

These people give their loyalty to their religion and not their country. Dangerous. If you don't like being stared at then do the tiniest bit of assimilation and remove the veils and head coverings. Everyone different gets stared at. Get a thicker skin like everyone else and stop trying to change western cultures to suit you or go live where your way is the norm. Simple.

With regards to government the biggest difference is that Canada is a much more socialist country, ex healthcare, subsidized education, strict gun legislation, Canada has essentially banned political donations too and lobbying is nonexistent, Canadian politicians are not bought and paid for like in the US.

I'm also Canadian and moved to the USA to marry my (now) husband, and I definitely notice some major differences. I think much of this really depends on where you're living in the US. I spent most of my life in Ottawa, and now live in South Central Pennsylvania. I'm surrounded by hillbillies, haha. In some ways healthcare is better in the US - I have waited much less time for health care, and also if you're paying in cash for the doctor many places offer a discount here. And I hear you on Amazon Prime! I use it all the time here! Not to mention so many cool vegan foods I could never get in Canada are easily available here.

Muslims will not integrate and even they dress different for they hate non muslims they are not allowed to befriend a non muslims, The simple thing the way muslims dress and grow beards they indicated that they want to be different and their ideology, not a religion is anti western anti democratic, the problem is that it will directly oppose any secular law for it is not laid down by islam they loathe the west and they will start to demand the sariah law as law of the land not Democratic but an autocratic system where freedom is denied, you follow sariah Law, and remember you the Non muslim will be their slave and the non muslim must submit to the muslim.....JT is working hard to get this accomplished..islam a wicked and evil ideology !!!!!!

The difference between radical Islam and moderate Islam is the radicals want to cut your head off; the moderates want the radicals to cut your head off.

People tend to associate and trust people with which they are familiar and if you were white and born in a white town, you'll naturally defer to white people. If you were born into a black family in a predominantly white area, however, you'll have strong familiarity with both white and black. If you asked a black person born into a black town, I'd venture to guess they would also show preference for the black faces.

Muslim lady speaks outside of her house and discusses issues we have with the religion, because of this she fears for her safety from her own community. It shows the deep problems we have with the western values and the Muslim community, yet here we have people tip toeing around the issue saying we have no problem, its religion and beliefs and peace and love and we should just accept all Muslim communities even tho this lady is telling you the problems right in front of your faces. There is so many videos you can find showing that Muslim community neighbourhoods do not want non-Muslim's in there community and they want Sharia law and they are not tolerant to outsiders and anyone that thinks different to them, even those from within there own community. 2 good examples are the town Dearborn, Michigan and Luton Town, UK of just how lack of tolerance for non-Muslim people in Muslim majority communities they have.

I got called an immigrant because my last name isn't Canadian, it's European but I was born her in Canada. so I am Canadian, I speak Canadian I have a birth certificate that says different. I don't deserve this bullshit.

Nice program.. It seams for some reason the western civilization has been burdened with this problem of Racism, Prejudism and other phobia .. I am a Transgender person. I feel safe in Canada. So should everyone else. BUT Here is the devils advocate in me.. If I went to a different part of the world, would I have the same rights and freedoms as I do here.? Probably not!  Canada is about change. Canadian's accept change, but so should the people who come here. Don't lose your religion, values, or culture. keep them close! but embrace new ones.. I don't feel angry or upset, because I've experience being followed in a store and I've worked in clothing retail and seen the actual types of people that do steal and to be honest, it doesn't matter the color of the skin or the amount of money a person have, thieves come in all different background. I've seen white women steal, I've seen black women steal, I've seen Hispanic women steal. I've seen a group of people steal, I've seen toddlers steal. What they taught me in retail is just like best buy, you have to make your presence known, but there is a difference between harassment and actually helping the customer. The sad thing is this will never go away as long as people continue to steal. and when you have minorities that do steal, it makes it hard for the other hard working minorities to catch a break.

If anyone thinks the Muslim religion is tolerant and it's just ISIS/ISIL or whatever that is causing these issues, just search Farhkunda who was totally innocent. Why are these women being interviewed? They are scared to say anything different, if they don't comply they fear for their lives. Interview the men and ask them what happens if the Muslim women refuse to wear the veil or abandon Islam. Search Farhkunda. Open your eyes.

In west we associate masked people with killers, thieves, assassins and such. Because women are pretty equal to men, not at 100% but pretty close we desire women to be identifiable when on the streets just as men are identifiable on the streets. So covering your face will probably not be accepted if ever by diverse population like USA that harbours so many different religion on one space and all are supposed to be tolerant and accepted by others. Choice or not women cover their faces so that when men see them they won't have impure thoughts about them. You're not being respectful towards them by covering yourself, you acknowledge that they are weak in flesh and that it is a woman's fault that they are weak in flesh.

No matter what race, age, or gender, you will look suspicious aimlessly walking around a retail store for 20-30min without asking for help by anyone. In my experience in retail, 80%+ of shoplifters will walk around the store for 20-30min, look at all different products throughout the isles, will not ask for help, and will leave without purchasing anything. If you do this in a retail store, it will look suspicious. This is what we are trained to look for.

Muslim women here in Canada are not subject to the same lifestyle as they would be in Islamic countries. They choose to follow the Islamic faith only in ways they feel are applicable to them and what they want personally. Not what the faith demands of them. There is a great difference.
