All these years US has a trade deficit of 1 trillion dollars every year. With tariffs we could have recovered 250 billion every year. That is a lot of money. Currently every American owes $110,000 because of the accumulated debt of 36.5 trillion.\n\nJustin, how long are we supposed to bend back wards while US has a trade deficit of trillion dollar over the past 20 years. Why cant to you balance the imports and exports so that you don't have to keep taking advantage of USA. CNN did not see the trade deficit every single year for 20 years? what are they talking about? Our news channels have just become political entities rather than looking for the greater good of the Americans. One is for Republicans and others for Democrats - ridiculous. \n\nCanada and Mexico are saying, please stop tariffs, it is going to hurt America. LOL. No it is not. If tariffs were there in 2024, US would have gotten back 15 billion dollar revenue from Canada and Mexico would have paid 46 billion to USA. All this time, this was affecting only Americans and while you are enjoying not paying for your share, you have made US pay by taking loans to pay for the imports increasing our Debt. Yes it has been hurting America for the past 20 years, otherwise how did we accumulate 36.5 trillion debt.\n\nLike Justin said, if Canada can survive while paying 15 billion to USA, of course USA will do fine while collecting the 15 billion from Canada and 46 billion form Mexico. What do you all think that the public is blind?\n\nTo the American Public: Why would we impose tariffs, if that is going to hurt the US. And why are Canada and Mexico shaking in their boots? It would be naive, if you think it is out of their good heart. It had been hurting US for the past 20 years and they did not care. This time it is going to hurt them so all this fuss. The bottom line is that they don't want to pay all the excess that they have been dumping on us while they were benefiting. USA will use the revenue generated (total around 250 billion for 2025 form tariffs) to reduce our tax, make things more affordable, inject in to our own businesses and generate more employment.

But look around your house, I bet most of it says - Made In China. To protect domestic goods. The short term is always the hardest. But it’s been proven that the long run, tariffs actually help a country’s economy. All joking aside, Canada has been able to form a symbiotic relationship of mutual benefit with the United States since even before NAFTA 1. But.......... right now it is almost like a 51st state and I do not mean that in a joking way. US states are always competing with each other, but what prevents things like, oh say the American Civil war from happening is the Federal apparatus keeps them in line for the good of the empire as a whole. \n\n If Canada is like a 51st state, then it is competing with the other 50 states in a way that all 50 of them are going to get upset about. So either the states complain, or you treat Canada as an economic competitor. Mexico being behind the United States and Canada is what makes it a good candidate for a symbiotic relationship. For all its problems, Mexico has a Christian population (with some indigenous traits) that goes well with America. Their nations different economic status means we can support them and they can support us doing different things for countries of different development stages.\n\nCanada being so similar to the United States will want that as well and will never outbid the United States. Again this is seen as a hostile economic competitor. \n\nIts not Canada or Americas fault. After 2007 and the lies about fanny and Freddie, leman bros, mortgage backed security's, and a cash shortage that was not real. How was it real if the offshore exchanges did nothing? 2007 was not financial in origin it was our global monetary system seizing up. To say Wall Street greed and MBSs did it would be like saying a single drop of cement turned the ocean to cement.\n\nBut something did. Something turned the market from liquid to concrete, it happened in France decades before......\nFinancially packaged items could no longer be priced or traded.

I have been watching you for a long time. And there is always a point you are not addressing in most of what I have heard. You will probably laugh at what I am about to say but please hear me out. The problem will not be fixed in your city until you having a big turnaround of leadership. People who are accountable to this constituents. People who love this country, not hated. If you asked them, would they want to live in any of the other countries in the world they won’t answer you they will get part from the question and they will call you a miss information White supremacist or if you’re black a uncle Tom. Personally, I understand where Trump is coming from in the context of deportation. However, there is a slight error in the entire scenario.\n\nThe law enforcements are picking up both documented, and undocumented immigrants, and that basically translates to something sinister attached to the whole thing.\n\nI would do it differently (Treat Each Case Separately) because not every foreigner in America is undocumented, and illegal. The records are there. America is good at keeping records.

It's time our farmers will grow our own products and sell them to our own markets without competition. Bring back all Agricultural industry back. Hey, to all you people from Europe, how about you take a look at what your own country did in the middle east, aswell as what America did. \n\nDid your countries not go there? Did they not shell the cities and houses there? \n\nAnd if you don't think it is your countries fault, but America's or Canada's fault, why has your country not protested their actions? If you look at most walkable, well serviced cities in the world, it is clear that nothing that is good, is particularly affordable. It can be affordable *today* if you move there, but it is likely not affordable if you live there and make their wages.\n\nToronto has become more expensive as time passes. It was great value in the 1990s when things were cheaper, when Toronto's future was less solidified, and there were less immigrants. Now, it is keeping up in cost with other walkable, dense cities in North America.

As someone from Belgium that now lives in Columbus OH because of marriage, you're spot on with everything. Safety? Limited. Sprawl? Terrible. Rent? Eh it's not that bad. I make a base salary of $82.5k and my wife makes $50k. Our 2br 1ba apartment's rent is about $1000. It's a nice place, but it has some flaws. Our next place will be around $1500. I've told my wife I don't like the sprawl and lack of public transport here and I want to move to a place where that is less of an issue: Chicago, NYC or Boston. However, the latter two have crazy high rent.\n\nI must add, the terribly unsupported public education system in Columbus is by far the worst reason. My wife is a teacher at a Columbus City School that's almost 100% black. White families put their kids through private schools. The rest of the kids have terrible home lives and are therefore incredibly ill-behaved and under-educated. So much so that the teachers just CANNOT keep up with Ohio's learning standards. By the time these kids graduate (and that's a big IF), they would have learned about 20% of what a regular 18-year old would have learned in most of the world. This is in part due to:\n1. Parents that do not involve themselves in what their children do, and therefore do not discipline appropriately.\n2. Terrible school admins that force teachers to lower their standards to have a high passing rate for the school (otherwise it gets shut down). Also, due to the No Child Left Behind Act, admins also force teachers to teach how to pass state tests (repetitive bullshit) instead of important learning materials and/or critical thinking skills.\n3. A lot of these students are pushed into the gang lifestyle and see no future in their education. They don't even try.\n4. Burned out teachers that grew tired of the negative ROI and start giving out poor and inadequate work packets. However, I don't like blaming teachers, especially because my wife is the hardest working person I know.\n\nIt's hard to see my wife come back every day, exhausted. It pains me both for her and her kids. America doesn't give a fuck about education. The big theory is that they're purposely not giving public schools attention so they can be phased out and private education becomes the norm. And if you can't afford it? That's great, we need factory workers.\n\n\nI might convince my wife to move to Europe eventually (luckily a European marriage visa isn't as stupidly hard to obtain as it was for me to get here). Having kids in America is not something I'd like to think about. For now, I'm taking advantage of this high salary to save as much as I can and focus on advancing in my career. Sadly, that's really the only thing America is good for...
